Libertarian in Wis. Senate race offers choice

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) - As a Libertarian candidate for Wisconsin's U.S. Senate, Joe Kexel knows he doesn't have a chance of defeating Democrat Tammy Baldwin or Republican Tommy Thompson. He says he'd just be happy to finish with 5% of the vote.

He says he's running to provide an alternative for voters who think their only option Tuesday is the lesser of 2 evils.

Kexel is an information-technology specialist from Kenosha. He says he's spent under $1,000 of his own money on his campaign, in a race where total spending could be in the $50 million range.

Kexel says he favors fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and a smaller military. A Manitowoc Herald Times report (http://htrne.ws/Sol6lZ ) says he hopes he'll get votes from people turned off by the negativity of the whole Senate campaign.
