When Science and Religion Agree
This is my take on the primate form and how it is a more refined product of prolonged life on this planet as land mammals. My latest theory is that we (humans) did not come from the same early "primordial soup" as all other beings on this planet. The idea is that we came long after (soon after primates formed) as a DNA "alien" (non-Earth born) strand in the form of a bacteria or other single celled organism (As the Matrix put it; "a virus") from a more recent comet collision like that in the Yucatan peninsula - Hence the birth of the Mayans and others who seem to have come from nowhere but biologically share an early primate ancestor before modern apes. So, we were not "chimps", per sé, but we changed the DNA make up of the Great Apes #39; ancestor to branch off from all the other primates to form humans.
