That, my friends, is an improperly executed Push Up. Here I demonstrate what I consider to be the ideal push up, both for targeting the desired muscle groups and for wear-and-tear on joints. First, position the hands as you would any other chest exercise so that the palms will be below the bottom portion of the chest. Keep your back straight (look ahead, that helps considerably) and lower yourself to the floor. Let your chest rest on the floor (if your anatomy allows) and then push back up, lighting your elbows flex slightly inwards. This little correction takes pressure off of the elbows and shoulder joints. Things to avoid: -Letting the hips/back dip low -spreading the arms too far apart -keeping the arms too close to the body (places emphasis on the triceps) -"bouncing" at the bottom part of the exercise, same as bench pressFrom:Shane CarawayViews:2 1ratingsTime:02:30More inSports
