Thiruparamkundram It #39;s one of the Six Abodes of Lord Muruga ,god of Tamil.This is the place where he wedded Goddess Deivanai,as a reward of being destroyed the asuran (Demon) Padmasuran,and his cruel brothers.Deivanai is the daughter of the heaven-king called "Indran". Padmasuran,the demon got the immortality by his hard-core devotion,from the Supreme God Lord Shiva. But Lord Shiva told him except his own power,nobody would kill him. After getting the "Immortal boon",the demon captured all the "Devars" - (the divine people) into the prison and ruled the three world (Earth,Heaven,Hell) with out any opposition. Then all the rishis and the devars(devne-people) approached Lord Shiva and and prayed for the demise of the demon "Padmasuran".At once Lord Shiva gave birth "Lord Muruga".from the flames came out from his third eye (in Tamil it means "Netri kan") on his fore-head.The flame came out from the third-eye of the Lord Shiva,poured on the six Lotus flowers,floating on the pond called "Saravana Poigai".Then it transformed into six beautiful infants,bedded on the petals of the lotus flowers. The six infants were looked after by the Karthigai maids and were grown up under the guidance of Karthigai-maids.Then the six children were made into one with six heads and twelve hands,appeared as the Lord Muruga. Goddess Paarvathi devi,the mother of Lord Muruga appeared before him and gave him a powerful weapon called "Sakthi vel" to destroy the demon king,Padmasuran.
