DARPA: This Smart Contact Lens Could Give Soldiers Superpowers

French engineering school IMT Atlantique revealed what it calls “the first stand-alone contact lens with a flexible micro battery” earlier this month.

And, notably, it caught the attention of the U.S. military’s attention: the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is reportedly interested in the contact lens to augment troops’ visual capabilities in the field, according to Task and Purpose — meaning the gadget could represent the augmented contact lens that DARPA has spent a decade searching for.

Weird Flex

The biggest challenge that IMT Atlantique engineers encountered was to scale down the battery. But thanks to a newly developed flexible micro battery, they found a way to continuously light an LED light source for “several hours,” according to a press release.

The release also suggests that “graphene-based flexible electronics” could further enhance the smart contact lens’ capabilities. Applications could range from assisting surgeons in the operating room to helping out drivers on the road.

Enhanced Recon

And now the military wants in on the project as well. French business magazine l’Usine Nouvelle writes that DARPA is interested in the technology. Even tech giant Microsoft is ready to invest two million euros, according to the magazine — which is notable, considering the tech company’s recent HoloLens contract with the U.S. Army.

“All the elements are ready,” Jean-Louis Bougrenet de la Tocnaye, project lead at IMT Atlantique, told l’Usine Nouvelle, as translated from the original French. “We should integrate it in October 2019 and hope to start testing in 2020. Then we will be able to go to the qualifying clinical tests.”

In 2017, Zvezda, a TV station owned by Russia’s Defence Ministry, reported that the nation’s military was training white whales, seals, and dolphins for Arctic missions — and now it seems one of those recruits may be guilty of desertion.

A group of fishers recently told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that they found a white beluga whale wearing a strange harness with the words “Equipment of St. Petersburg” written on its strap — a clue that the animal may have had a role to play in Russia’s futuristic military plans.

Saying “Hi”

According to the fishers, the whale had been harassing their boats, rubbing against the vessels and pulling on accessible straps and ropes. When they removed its strange harness, which appeared designed to hold a camera or weapon, they saw the message written on it.

“We know that in Russia they have had domestic whales in captivity and also that some of these have apparently been released,” Audun Rikardsen, a marine biology professor at the Arctic University of Norway, told NRK, according to The Guardian. “Then they often seek out boats.”

But when Rikardsen reached out to Russian researchers to try to find who owned the whale, they denied having anything to do with it.

“They tell me that most likely is the Russian navy in Murmansk,” Rikardsen told NRK.

The Universe Might Be a Billion Years Younger Than We Thought

To reconcile the recently-confirmed, faster rate of universal expansion, researchers suggest that the cosmos may be younger than they previously assumed.

New Answers

New data from the Hubble Space Telescope confirms that the universe is expanding nine percent more rapidly than theoretical calculations predicted.

Those original calculations were based on data from the early universe, so many scientists suspected that something sped up the works. But the new Hubble data suggests that the universe could be substantially younger than previously believed — perhaps by as much as a billion years, according to the Associated Press.

Count The Rings

“It’s looking more and more like we’re going to need something new to explain this,” Johns Hopkins University astronomer Adam Riess told The AP.

Original calculations suggested that the universe is between 13.6 and 13.8 billion years old. If Riess’ hunch is correct, it would mean that it’s only somewhere between 12.5 to 13 billion years old.

“Hey, it’s good news,” Reiss told the news agency. “Everybody likes to look younger.”

Whodunnit

There’s a chance that Riess’ explanation is incorrect and something actually sped up the acceleration of the universe at some point in the last dozen billion years. One potential culprit might be dark energy, but thus far scientists haven’t been able to directly confirm that theory.

NASA astrophysicist John Mather told the AP that there are two extant possibilities: “1. We’re making mistakes we can’t find yet. 2. Nature has something we can’t find yet.”

No One Knows Who Owns This Massive Database of Americans’ Info

Hactivists have found a database containing details on more than 80 million U.S. households, but they have no idea who owns it.

Millions Exposed

A pair of hacktivists have discovered an unsecured database containing details about more than 80 million households in the United States.

Typically, they’d alert a database’s owner to such a discovery so that they could shore up their security, but in this case no one can figure out who the massive database belongs to — meaning the data of nearly 65 percent of America households is still exposed.

Detailed Description

Hacktivists Noam Rotem and Ran Locar found the 24 GB database hosted on a Microsoft cloud server while conducting research as part of a partnership with VPNmentor.

According to their report, the database includes addresses, full names, ages, and birth dates — as well as coded information they believe correlates to gender, marital status, income, homeowner status, and the type of home they live in.

Thankfully, it doesn’t contain passwords or social security numbers.

Owner TBD

The researchers believe the database belongs to a service of some sort because each entry ends with “member_code” and “score,” but they aren’t sure what that service might be. They did note that no one listed is under the age of 40, so they suspect it might be the work of an insurance or healthcare company.

The researchers are now asking anyone who might have information on the owner to contact them, so that they can ensure the information is secured.

“I wouldn’t like my data to be exposed like this,” Rotem told CNET. “It should not be there.”

Scientists Plan to 3D Print Muscular Tissue on the Space Station

The International Space Station is rapidly becoming a hotbed of biomedical research. One example: a 3D printer that scientists have been using to manufacture biological tissue while in orbit.

Now the printer is scheduled for upgrades that will allow it to manufacture more complex types of tissue, including muscles and blood vessels, according to 3D Printing Industry — pushing the cutting edge of medical research that could make deep space exploration possible.

Stocking Up

In September 2019, the Russian biotech lab 3D Bioprinting Solutions will ship the raw biomaterials necessary to print out muscle tissues up to the ISS.

It’s easier to print out organs in space than on Earth, where they’re more likely to collapse under their own weight. In this case, 3D Printing Industry reports that the muscles, blood vessels, and other complex tissues that the Russian scientists plan to print will stay in space, where they will be examined over time to help reveal the long-term effects of space travel on the human body.

Oxford Academic: Invisible Aliens Are Breeding With Humans

In his new book, Oxford professor Young-hae Chi theorizes that invisible aliens are creating alien-human hybrids, perhaps as a response to climate change.

Invisible Aliens

An Oxford lecturer thinks we share the Earth with invisible aliens — and, the outlandish idea holds, they’re trying to save our species and theirs from total destruction by breeding with us.

This strange theory is the subject of Korean instructor Young-hae Chi’s new book, which is written in Korean but roughly translates to “Alien Visitations and the End of Humanity” — and while its contents are objectively bizarre, its proximity to the highest tiers of academia could demonstrate just how desperate some are for a solution to Earth’s climate woes.

Human Hybrids

In an interview with The Oxford Student, Chi shared some of the highlights from the book — including his belief that, because these invisible extraterrestrials live among us, they have a stake in avoiding planetary destruction due to climate change.

He theorizes that the hypothetical aliens’ interbreeding with humans could be intended to create a hybrid species capable of surviving future climate conditions on Earth, or that the aliens are “producing these hybrids as a problem-solver, a future leader.”

Desperate Times

Chi doesn’t provide any examples of the “evidence” he claims supports his theory in the interview, and it’s hard to imagine the book itself contains anything terribly concrete.

Still, the fact that someone as highly educated as Chi wrote an entire book based on salvation by extraterrestrials could be a sign of how daunting our future is starting to look.

“BioSolar Leaf” Tech Will Pull Pollution from London Air

Dual Purpose

British startup Arborea is launching a pilot project on an Imperial College London campus to test out its “BioSolar Leaf” technology.

The first-of-its-kind system uses microscopic plants to remove pollution from the air while simultaneously producing food ingredients — meaning it could not only help fight carbon emissions, but address hunger in the process.

Plant Power

Arborea’s system involves growing microscopic plants, such as microalgae or phytoplankton, on solar panel-like structures that can be installed practically anywhere solar panels would go.

With photosynthesis, these plants remove carbon dioxide from the air while generating oxygen. According to the startup’s website, just one acre of their system does as much to clean the air as 100 acres of trees.

Two Birds

Cleaning the air is just one benefit of the BioSolar Leaf technology, though — the microscopic plants also produce an organic protein that Arborea extracts and uses to create plant-based food products.

“This pilot plant will produce sustainable healthy food additives while purifying the air, producing oxygen, and removing carbon dioxide from the surrounding environment,” Arborea CEO Julian Melchiorri said in a news release. “It will provide the opportunity to fully harness Arborea’s BioSolar Leaf dual action in real operating conditions and help to unlock the technology’s full potential.”

These Professors Are Arguing That AI Should Get Animal Rights

Right now, AI can't be considered conscious. But should it someday get to that point, some experts argue we should lay out algorithms' civil rights now.

Weak AI

Today’s artificial intelligence algorithms are unfeeling tools that can automate various jobs. It’s possible, though, that someday we’ll figure out how to build AI with something resembling a conscious experience.

In preparation for that day, a pair of philosophy professors from Northeastern University and UC Riverside are arguing that we need to lay out ground rules now — suggesting in an article for Aeon that AI algorithms may someday deserve the same ethical treatment as animals.

Planning Ahead

As it stands, AI is nowhere near advanced enough to experience anything, including suffering. Kicking your Roomba won’t do anything other than maybe put you in the market for a new vacuum; insulting Alexa won’t make the smart assistant resent you.

But given humanity’s poor track record of animal and human welfare in scientific research, it may make sense to be prepared in case AI ever reaches that level. That’s why the two professors call for new oversight committees to evaluate the ethical risks of research as the field develops.

“In the case of research on animals and even on human subjects, appropriate protections were established only after serious ethical transgressions came to light (for example, in needless vivisections, the Nazi medical war crimes, and the Tuskegee syphilis study),” the professors write. “With AI, we have a chance to do better.”

A new study says that based on Facebook's current numbers, dead people's accounts will outnumber the living in about 50 years.

Friends Forever

While Facebook recently announced new features to better memorialize the accounts of deceased users, they’re still taking up server space — and by 2070, they may outnumber the number of living people on the platform.

Imagining Facebook 50 years from now is admittedly speculative, but the site’s growing digital graveyard raises questions about how we ought to treat digital history and respect the deceased’s personal information.

Balancing Act

The 50-year prediction comes from a new study published last week in the journal Big Data & Society, which plotted Facebook’s growth trends against the U.N.’s projected global mortality rates.

Eventually, time comes for us all. The team of Oxford researchers found that even if nobody new joined Facebook after 2018, the site would still house 1.4 billion dead users by 2100.

Now What?

That’s a lot of memorialized pages, and the researchers argue that they could hold historical significance.

“Facebook should invite historians, archivists, archaeologists and ethicists to participate in the process of curating the vast volume of accumulated data that we leave behind as we pass away,” said Oxford researcher David Watson in a university-published press release. “This is not just about finding solutions that will be sustainable for the next couple of years, but possibly for many decades ahead.”

When This Asteroid Zips by Earth, Scientists May Hitch a Ride

In 2029, the asteroid 99942 Apophis will fly past Earth close enough to look like a shooting star. NASA is planning ahead to learn as much as possible.

Flyby

In about ten years, a 1,100 foot asteroid named 99942 Apophis will pass within 19,000 miles of the Earth — closer than some of our more distantly-orbiting satellites.

Scientists have already ruled out any chance of a collision; the asteroid will look like a bright shooting star to people on Earth. But the rare near-Earth trajectory already has scientists planning how best to study the impending visitor.

Celestial Threats

On Tuesday, astronomers will meet to discuss the possibility of sending a spacecraft out to meet Apophis as it sails by, according to a NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) press release.

The meeting will be part of the ongoing 2019 Planetary Defense Conference, where scientists are discussing possible ways to detect and prevent celestial threats to Earth.

Jam-Packed

Apophis gives researchers a goldmine of possible discoveries, so they want to take full advantage by planning missions that will reveal how Earth’s gravity affects Apophis’ trajectory, spin, and surface features. These findings will be valuable on their own, but could also protect us from future collisions.

“Apophis is a representative of about 2,000 currently known Potentially Hazardous Asteroids,” Paul Chodas, director of the JPL division that studies near-Earth objects, said in the press release. “By observing Apophis during its 2029 flyby, we will gain important scientific knowledge that could one day be used for planetary defense.”

For many newcomers, cryptocurrencies can be confusing at the best of times. Not only are they extremely complex, but there are also so many of them to choose from.

Bitcoin itself is no stranger to this. There are multiple iterations of Bitcoin, from the original BTC to Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Private. The biggest competitor to Bitcoin though is Bitcoin Cash (BCH). BCH is a hard fork of Bitcoin that aims to solve the issue of scaling through the use of bigger blocks.

Bitcoin Cash arose due to a large scaling debate that happened within the Bitcoin community. Debates began to arise when the Bitcoin mempool began to fill up due to the amount of transactions taking place on the network. This caused Bitcoin to become slower and more expensive to send than it had been in the past.

There were two options depending on your viewpoint. The first was to scale by increasing the block size of Bitcoin, and the second was to scale via a second-layer solution such as the Lightning Network. When neither side could come to a compromise, a fork took place and led to the creation of what became known as Bitcoin Cash.

Bitcoin Cash was backed by evangelist Roger Ver and mining giant Jihan Wu along with many other industry leaders and experts. They disagreed with the idea of implementing SegWit onto Bitcoin and wanted to see Bitcoin scale to 8MB blocks.

Bigger blocks allow for more transactions to take place. However, this comes with the downside of creating a larger blockchain. Those who believe in BTC argue that bigger blocks will eventually lead to mining centralisation.

BCH supporters argue that through Moores Law technology will eventually catch up, allowing for bigger blocks to be possible without these centralisation issues.

Bigger blocks are believed to be necessary due to the fees associated with Bitcoin. When the network became extremely popular in the bull run of 2017, fees and transaction times began to rise considerably. This made it clear that Bitcoin needed to scale.

Bitcoin Cash believes that it has solved these problems through bigger blocks, which it argues allows for much lower fees.

It is impossible to discuss Bitcoin Cash without mentioning evangelist Roger Ver. Ver was one of the first people to promote Bitcoin to the world. He was an early investor in the cryptocurrency and many major cryptocurrency companies today were helped by his funding. As the owner of the bitcoin.com domain, he holds a powerful position.

Ver argues that the direction that BTC has taken has limited the cryptocurrency and allowed other altcoins to rise in prominence. He argues that Bitcoin Cash is the true Bitcoin as it is a form of peer-to-peer electronic cash, as stated in the white paper.

This has not been without controversy, and resulted in much antagonism directed towards Ver. Some have argued that Ver has misled the public in his promotion of Bitcoin Cash as the real Bitcoin an accusation he vehemently denies.

BCH went through its own drama in late 2018. After the split from BTC, BCH was led by Roger Ver, Jihan Wu, and development teams including Bitcoin Unlimited and Bitcoin ABC. They were also supported by Craig Wright of nChain and his partner Calvin Ayre.

However, their relationship soured, and another fork took place splitting Bitcoin Cash into BCH and Bitcoin Satoshis Vision (BSV).

Many members of the Bitcoin Cash community are on the r/btc subreddit. The r/btc subreddit is another split from the original r/bitcoin subreddit. The drama began when users argued that the r/bitcoin subreddit was too heavily moderated, therefore limiting free speech.

This led to the creation of r/btc, and this is where you can find the most up-to-date news on Bitcoin Cash and debates surrounding the cryptocurrency. If you want the latest news and to join the community, this is the place to start.

There are many fervent supporters of Bitcoin Cash who believe that on-chain scaling is the main solution to the current scaling issues. Although it has yet to make a dent in overtaking the original Bitcoin chain, their beliefs have not diminished. This is the main difference between Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin the debate over scaling on-chain or via a second layer.

Arguments over the split still rage on to this day, with both sides not conceding any ground. Whilst many deride Bitcoin Cash, there is an argument to be made that the testing of an on-chain scaling solution is a good experiment for the whole of cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin Soars As Ethereum, Ripple’s XRP, Bitcoin Cash, And …

Bitcoin has continued its march higher after shooting up at the beginning of the month and now appears to be pulling away from the likes ethereum, Ripple's XRP, bitcoin cash, EOS, and other major cryptocurrencies.

The bitcoin price has hit another year-to-date high in the past 24 hours, climbing to $5,622, according to prices from the Luxembourg-based Bitstamp exchange.

Now, a bullish technical indicator is giving investors heart that the recent rally will be held after bitcoin's moving averages showed a pattern known as a golden cross.

The bitcoin price has been outperforming smaller cryptocurrencies after so-called altcoins made strong gains previously.

The golden crossoccurs when the average bitcoin price in the short term rises above its long term average price. Bitcoin's 50-day moving average rose above its 200-day moving average for the first time since 2015yesterday.

Alternatively, when an assets short-term moving average crosses below the long-term moving average, it indicates the potential for a major selloff and is known as a death cross.

The bitcoin price has risen almost 2% over the last 24 hour trading period, according to data from CoinMarketCap, which tracks most major cryptocurrencies.

Elsewhere, ethereum and Ripple's XRP lost 2%, while bitcoin cash, an offshoot of bitcoin itself, was down more than 5%. EOS was off by 3% over the last 24 hour trading period.

Binance coin, which increasingly seems to be deciding the direction of the bitcoin and cryptocurrency market, lost the most of the top ten cryptocurrencies over the last 24 hours, dropping almost 6%.

The bitcoin price has recorded another year-to-date high this week.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency industry insiders have said bitcoin, the original cryptocurrency, is still very important to the wider market.

"If I had to pick one [cryptocurrency], I would pick bitcoin. We need bitcoin to succeed in order for the market to do well and for innovations to keep happening," Hany Rashwan, the founder and chief executive of cryptocurrency trading tools company Amun, this week told the Crypto for Earthlings podcast.

"Bitcoin is the largest and most well support asset today and we shouldn't dismiss it. There are a number of technical innovations on their way to make bitcoin more transactional. We should focus on that and keep investing in bitcoin more than anything else."

Meanwhile, analysts and traders were keen to find any sign of what was pushing bitcoin higher while other coins, like ethereum, Ripple's XRP, bitcoin cash, and EOS, fell.

The cryptocurrency market has been divided by bitcoin's recent gains.

"Another strong surge during the Asian session[yesterday]brought us to a new high of $5,622 a coin, the highest level since November's capitulation," eToro senior market analyst Mati Greenspan wrote in a note to clients.

"There are a load of bullish signs right now but if you're asking what caused this morning's movement, you might be slightly disappointed as there doesn't seem to be any specific catalyst for this. It seems simply to be a shift in outlook.

"During the bear market, there were a lot of people who sold their crypto in fear of lower prices. Those people didn't really go away though, they're simply standing on the sidelines waiting for the return of a bull market."

Bitcoin Cash ABC Slides Again

Bitcoin Cash ABC slid by 3.14% on Friday. Following on from a 6.72% tumble on Thursday, Bitcoin Cash ABC ended the day at $255.02.

A relatively bullish start to the day saw Bitcoin Cash ABC rise to an intraday high $269.27 before hitting reverse.

Falling short of the first major resistance level at $279.15, Bitcoin Cash ABC fell to a late afternoon intraday low $251.34.

In spite of the reversal, Bitcoin Cash ABC steered clear of the first major support level at $249.92 to recover to $255 levels.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin Cash ABC was up by 2.28% to $260.85. Bucking the trend from the broader market, Bitcoin Cash ABC rose from $255.02 to a morning high $261.

In spite of the early move, Bitcoin Cash ABC left the major support and resistance levels untested.

For the day ahead, a move through to $262 levels would support a run at the first major resistance level at $265.75.

Barring a broad-based crypto rally, Bitcoin Cash ABC would likely come up short of $270 levels and the second major resistance level at $276.47. Fridays high $269.27 would likely pin Bitcoin Cash ABC back on the day.

In the event of a breakout, Bitcoin Cash ABC would likely fall short of $280 levels on the day.

Failure to move through to $262 levels could see Bitcoin Cash ABC hit reverse later in the day. A fall a pullback through $258.54 would bring $251 levels into play before any recovery.

Barring a crypto sell-off, Bitcoin Cash ABC would likely steer clear of sub-$250 levels and the first major support level at $247.82.

Litecoin rose by 1.49% on Friday. Partially reversing a 3.39% slide from Thursday, Litecoin ended the day at $71.64.

A choppy start to the day saw Litecoin slide to an intraday low $68.88 before striking an intraday high $73.5.

The moves through the early hours saw Litecoin leave the major support and resistance levels untested.

Easing back from the early intraday high, Litecoin fell to an afternoon low $69.5 before finding support late in the day.

At the time of writing, Litecoin was down by 0.61% to $71.20. A bearish start to the day saw Litecoin fall from a morning high $71.83 to a low $71.13 before steadying.

Litecoin left the major support and resistance levels untested in the early hours.

For the day ahead, a move through to $71.40 levels would bring $72 levels back into play before any pullback. Support from the broader market would be needed, however, for Litecoin to take a run at $73 levels and the first major resistance level at $73.80.

Failure to move through to $71.40 levels could see Litecoin slide further into the red before any recovery.

A fall through to $70 levels would bring the first major support level at $69.18 into play. Barring a crypto meltdown, Litecoin would likely avoid a return to sub-$69 levels on the day.

Ripples XRP rallied by 6.34% on Friday. Reversing a 3.93% slide from Thursday, Ripples XRP ended the day at $0.3092.

Bullish through the day, Ripples XRP rallied from a start of a day intraday low $0.28799 to a late intraday high $0.31149.

Steering clear of the major support levels, Ripples XRP broke through the first major resistance level at $0.3060. In spite of the day-long rally, Ripples XRP came up short of $0.32 levels and the second major resistance level at $0.3209. More modest gains elsewhere likely capped the upside on the day.

At the time of writing, Ripples XRP was down by 0.38% to $0.30802. A relatively range-bound start to the day saw Ripples XRP fall from a morning high $0.31097 to a low $0.30757.

The early moves saw Ripples XRP leave the major support and resistance levels untested.

For the day ahead, a move through to $0.31 levels would support a run at the first major resistance level at $0.3178. Following Fridays breakout, support from the broader market would be needed for return to $0.32 levels.

Barring a broad-based crypto rally, Ripples XRP would likely come up short of the second major resistance level at $0.3264.

Failure to move through to $0.31 levels could see Ripples XRP take another hit on the day. A fall through $0.3030 levels would bring the first major support level at $0.2943 into play.

Barring a crypto meltdown, Ripples XRP would likely avoid a return to $0.28 levels on the day.

What is Bitcoin Cash? – Coin Rivet

For many newcomers, cryptocurrencies can be confusing at the best of times. Not only are they extremely complex, but there are also so many of them to choose from.

Bitcoin itself is no stranger to this. There are multiple iterations of Bitcoin, from the original BTC to Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Private. The biggest competitor to Bitcoin though is Bitcoin Cash (BCH). BCH is a hard fork of Bitcoin that aims to solve the issue of scaling through the use of bigger blocks.

Bitcoin Cash arose due to a large scaling debate that happened within the Bitcoin community. Debates began to arise when the Bitcoin mempool began to fill up due to the amount of transactions taking place on the network. This caused Bitcoin to become slower and more expensive to send than it had been in the past.

There were two options depending on your viewpoint. The first was to scale by increasing the block size of Bitcoin, and the second was to scale via a second-layer solution such as the Lightning Network. When neither side could come to a compromise, a fork took place and led to the creation of what became known as Bitcoin Cash.

Bitcoin Cash was backed by evangelist Roger Ver and mining giant Jihan Wu along with many other industry leaders and experts. They disagreed with the idea of implementing SegWit onto Bitcoin and wanted to see Bitcoin scale to 8MB blocks.

Bigger blocks allow for more transactions to take place. However, this comes with the downside of creating a larger blockchain. Those who believe in BTC argue that bigger blocks will eventually lead to mining centralisation.

BCH supporters argue that through Moores Law technology will eventually catch up, allowing for bigger blocks to be possible without these centralisation issues.

Bigger blocks are believed to be necessary due to the fees associated with Bitcoin. When the network became extremely popular in the bull run of 2017, fees and transaction times began to rise considerably. This made it clear that Bitcoin needed to scale.

Bitcoin Cash believes that it has solved these problems through bigger blocks, which it argues allows for much lower fees.

It is impossible to discuss Bitcoin Cash without mentioning evangelist Roger Ver. Ver was one of the first people to promote Bitcoin to the world. He was an early investor in the cryptocurrency and many major cryptocurrency companies today were helped by his funding. As the owner of the bitcoin.com domain, he holds a powerful position.

Ver argues that the direction that BTC has taken has limited the cryptocurrency and allowed other altcoins to rise in prominence. He argues that Bitcoin Cash is the true Bitcoin as it is a form of peer-to-peer electronic cash, as stated in the white paper.

This has not been without controversy, and resulted in much antagonism directed towards Ver. Some have argued that Ver has misled the public in his promotion of Bitcoin Cash as the real Bitcoin an accusation he vehemently denies.

BCH went through its own drama in late 2018. After the split from BTC, BCH was led by Roger Ver, Jihan Wu, and development teams including Bitcoin Unlimited and Bitcoin ABC. They were also supported by Craig Wright of nChain and his partner Calvin Ayre.

However, their relationship soured, and another fork took place splitting Bitcoin Cash into BCH and Bitcoin Satoshis Vision (BSV).

Many members of the Bitcoin Cash community are on the r/btc subreddit. The r/btc subreddit is another split from the original r/bitcoin subreddit. The drama began when users argued that the r/bitcoin subreddit was too heavily moderated, therefore limiting free speech.

This led to the creation of r/btc, and this is where you can find the most up-to-date news on Bitcoin Cash and debates surrounding the cryptocurrency. If you want the latest news and to join the community, this is the place to start.

There are many fervent supporters of Bitcoin Cash who believe that on-chain scaling is the main solution to the current scaling issues. Although it has yet to make a dent in overtaking the original Bitcoin chain, their beliefs have not diminished. This is the main difference between Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin the debate over scaling on-chain or via a second layer.

Arguments over the split still rage on to this day, with both sides not conceding any ground. Whilst many deride Bitcoin Cash, there is an argument to be made that the testing of an on-chain scaling solution is a good experiment for the whole of cryptocurrency.

The Spiritual Meaning of Light in Angels and Miracles

Light has significant spiritual meanings associated with both angels and miracles. Angels often appear as beings of light, and they use lights electromagnetic energy when traveling to and from Earth and heaven. Miraculous events, such as apparitions, often feature light appearing in supernatural ways.

Light plays a foundational role in creation. Many creation stories say that God created light before anything else. For example, the Bible famously records in Genesis 1:3 that on the first day of creation: God said, Let there be light, and there was light.Ever since God made light, energy from light has fueled life on our planet. Earths ecosystem depends on light from the sun, as plants use sunlight to make food for themselves in their leaves, while animals and people higher up the food chain get energy from plants.

So, spiritually, light is sometimes a symbol of life that comes from a loving creator who cares for creation. Just as all living things on Earth need sunlight to grow physically, people need the light of loving relationships with the creator God to grow spiritually.

Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals who is famous for his reverence for all of creation, wrote a prayer praising God for the sun and its light: Praise be to God for all his creatures, and especially our brother the sun who brings us the day and brings us the light. How beautiful he is! How splendid! Oh, God, he reminds us of you.

Angels, whom Muslims believe are made of light, love people with a pure love that comes from God. As Gods messengers, angels constantly deliver Gods messages of loving encouragement to people.

Light appearing during a miracle often indicates that God is at work in the situation, lovingly caring for the people whom he is a blessing in a miraculous way (such as by answering prayer in ways that wouldnt be possible without his intervention). Miraculous apparitions also make use of light and may feature spectacular, supernatural light effects.

Light is often associated with wisdom. The word enlighten means to give knowledge or understanding (especially spiritual insights) to someone. When people are inspired by new creative ideas, they speak about a light bulb turning on for them. If theyve gained a better perspective on a situation, they say that they can look at it in a new light. Spiritually, light stands for truth from the good side of the spiritual realm overcoming lies from the evil side of the spiritual realm. People who are spiritually enlightened have the wisdom to choose truth over deception in their everyday lives.

People often use prayer and meditation tools that have to do with light, such as candles and crystals,when communicating with angels, because angels radiate electromagnetic energy just as light does. A system of angel colors, which corresponds to different colored light rays in the electromagnetic spectrum, matches angels whose energy vibrates at certain frequencies to light rays that vibrate at those same frequencies. Some people seeking wisdom and help from the angels about different issues in their lives use it to connect with angels specializing in different types of missions. One ray in particular,red, focuses the most on wisdom and is led by Uriel, the archangel of wisdom.

The worlds major religious texts use light as a symbol of wisdom, encouraging readers to develop closer relationships with God to light their spiritual paths through the darkness of a fallen, sinful world. Just as light reflects off mirrors to help people see themselves, faithful people can engage in spiritual reflection to see the state of their souls, motivating them to seek more spiritual wisdom. The process of God giving wisdom to those who seek it is a miraculous one since it changes people for the better in profound ways.

Light is also a spiritual symbol of hope. In many of the worlds religions, light signifies salvation from the darkness of sin. Believers gain confidence from knowing that letting their light of faith shine in a dark world can bring about real change for the better in their lives. The faithful often light candles when praying for hope to create change in situations that seem hopeless.

Several major religious holidays use light to celebrate the power of spiritual hope. On Christmas, Christians decorate with electric lights to symbolize Jesus Christ as the light of the world, the savior. During Diwali, Hindus celebrate the hope of spiritual victories through fireworks displays and candles. The Jewish holiday of Hanukkah celebrates the hope that the Jewish people derived from the ancient Hanukkah miracle of lights.

Light overpowers darkness in the physical realm since the photons in light can dispel darkness, but darkness cannot dispel light. This principle can be seen simply by entering a dark room and turning on a flashlight there. The light will be visible in the midst of the darkness, even if theres just a small amount of light in a great amount of darkness. This same principle applies spiritually, as the light of hope is always stronger than the darkness of discouragement and despair.

God often assigns angels to work on missions of hope that help people in need and the results may be miraculous. No matter how dark peoples circumstances are, God can change them for the better by shining his light of hope into their lives.

Stages of Spiritual Enlightenment: Fatigue – Divine Openings

At one point in their spiritual enlightenment and personal development with Divine Openings, some people can hit heavy, heavy fatigue. The place I most get to observe it happening up close is in the 5 Day Silent Retreat, although it can very well happen while reading my book, Things Are Going Great In My Absence if you're really diving deep.

On about day two or three of the silent retreat, many people experience a super heavy, tired feeling, as if they weighed a thousand pounds, which can feel extra heavy since they rightly expect bliss in their spiritual enlightenment retreat. Bliss sometimes doesn't happen till day 5, when virtually everyone feels it.

As some begin to hit that fatigue, I explain that it's a valuable gift I call "the fatigue of the ages" the fatigue that comes on once you let go, after decades of holding on so tight.

We don't know how hard we've been working to hold things back, bury them, carry them, or prop them up.. until we stop. That's contrast for you--you only know cold by knowing heat--you really know the extent of tension after you achieve relaxation. (In a recent blog I talked about contrast being your friend in other ways.)

We feel the fatigue most when the contrast of letting go shows us how hard and painful resisting had been all along. You'll likely feel fatigue after a huge emotional release. Just give in to the fatigue and rest more. This fatigue should move VERY fast, no more than a few days.

As you read Things Are Going Great In My Absence or do one of the Self-Paced, Online, Spiritual Enlightenment Retreats, before you feel bliss, you may feel this fatigue you never felt before. You must move through this, not resist it or power over it, if you're committed to your spiritual enlightenment, personal development, and total freedom.

After so many years of suppressing, running from, or "working on" old energies but not moving them, lots of people are walking around exhausted but thinking it's normal (everyone else is tired too, right?) and it's only when they begin to let go that they get an inkling of how tired they actually were.

After that comes a new deep relaxation. That first breakthrough from deep fatigue to relaxation and letting go is usually the biggest, and most dramatic shift, so you feel the most relief from it.

You get used to that level of relaxation and it soon feels normal, until you break through to a next, higher level. Let's say you relaxed about money, and it feels like a fabulous new world as money flows easily to you for the first time ever. But there is more to come, in good time, as you let go and relax in other areas.

One day maybe you hit a wall with your spouse, where you realize how much you've been suppressing feelings about relationship (compounded by suppressed or unresolved feelings about relationships all the way back to your childhood.) Intimacy is one of the most desired and feared of all experiences. The defenses can be deep and tender. But this wall you hit is a golden opportunity in your spiritual enlightenment.

You dive in to those feelings because you're committed to your spiritual enlightenment and joy, and you liberate even more of your energy. You feel a whole new higher level of relaxation and vitality after that.

There's no need to go digging for stuff to fix, ever in your personal development. Believe me, your daily life and feelings present to you exactly what you need to feel to unfold your spiritual enlightenment and liberate more energy, if you will just feel it thoroughly, and not resist it... daily .... forever.

Signs of spiritual awakening are like milestones to spiritual enlightenment.

Most people come to the spiritual field because of some pain and sorrow in their lives.

Even some very rich people and kings came to this field. They had everything in their lives. Then why did they pursue this field?

Even they had everything in their lives but they felt some emptiness. Some fears were there like the fear of death.

Nobody wants to die and your materialistic richness cannot save you from your death. That was the pain and sorrow in their lives. It is one of the other causes.

And ordinary people too have so many problems, pains, and sorrows in their lives.

To get rid of them, we pursue spirituality and when we actually pursue spirituality, we start progressing towards its ultimate end.

The ultimate end of spirituality is spiritual enlightenment. However, the way or path through which we reach there is called the spiritual awakening.

Spiritual awakening is not the destination. The destination is spiritual enlightenment and beyond. Beyond is not the topic of this post. We only discuss some signs of spiritual awakening here.

When someone is on the way that is the spiritual awakening, he feels a lot of transformations in his life.

He feels some progressive signs of spiritual awakening.

In todays post, we are going to discuss those progressive signs of spiritual awakening. Everybody on the way to enlightenment feels it. However, his way of describing them can be different.

I write on my blog for two types of people. One belongs to that category those want to live the mystery of life and enlightenment and other belongs to that category those want to explore the mystery of life and enlightenment.

There is a huge difference between the two. Todays post is for the first category that wants to live the mystery of life and enlightenment.

I hope at the end of this post, you must understand what I want to convey here.

In aloneness, you start thinking mostly about spiritual awakening.

In your friend circle, you start talking about it. Sometimes your friends feel bored with it. You can notice it. Some friends will leave you.

You can want to live alone most of the time.

Or if you are with other people, you can want to talk only about spirituality. It is one of the progressive signs of spiritual awakening.

As a meditator, you start giving full attention to your work.

You start feeling good at your work. Your indulgence into your work has been increased.

Sometimes, you feel ecstasy and bliss during your work. You want to increase it so you can start more indulgence in your work.

You want to apply meditation in every act of your life. However, it depends upon the teachings of your guru or teacher.

Some guru suggests only some techniques of meditation and some guru say that it should spread on your whole life.

It depends upon the teachings of your guru.

But most gurus want to spread the meditation on the whole life. So, they suggest making every act of your life as meditation. Their method may be different. Some can attack your kitchen too.

They can suggest that you should eat this and you should not eat that. Interestingly they can enter into your washroom too.

They can suggest how to bathe. They can suggest that when you bathe, feel that water is not falling on you but on your body. You are separate from your body.

So: You start giving full attention to your present work.

Most probably you choose a guru and start following him.

It can be a living guru or a dead one. However, you choose to read his books or sermons.

It is because your mind wants to know more about it. Something happens to you but you dont know what it is. You want to know more about it.

Now you are reading this post, it means already something has happened inside you. You want to know more and more about it. You want to get it.

Your mind is very clever. Actually, your mind is a protective device for this body.

So as a protective one, it wants to know what it is that has happened to it. It wants to protect your body from it.

That something weird happened to your body is a warning signal for your mind.

So:

It wants to make clarity about it. Your mind wants to go into it.

However, your mind is in fear. This thing is new for it. It wants to make it clear and safe. It becomes very sharp and that is one of the signs of spiritual awakening.

You listen to lectures or sermons of your guru or spiritual teachers.

Actually, our mind is greedy. When your guru says that kill the mind and what left will be your true essence that will be ecstasy and bliss,

Then:

The greedy mind wants to get that entity that is bliss and ecstasy.

Interesting thing is that your mind starts feeling ecstasy and bliss while listening to or reading the books related to spiritual awakening or during meditation.

And it is one of the signs of spiritual awakening. Greediness is one quality of mind to capture things in life. You can be greedy in spirituality too.

If you daily do meditation, then you can experience this sign of spiritual awakening. Meditation can be of any type.

Like you can run and can be in meditation. However, your full presence in the act is crucial.

You should know what you are doing. I mean your full indulgence in that work is very crucial

And the sign of spiritual awakening is:

Your sudden separateness from your body and mind.

It comes in a flash.

Interesting thing is that it does not come with a signal. It comes suddenly.

For example, if one day this sign comes suddenly and next day with a plan you will do the same meditation and will hope that the yesterday experience will come again, it is sure that it will not come.

So:

It will come suddenly without telling you anything. And it will come with a sudden glimpse or flash.

It is one of the signs of spiritual awakening.

That can be six months or a year.

Before it, you were studying books and were doing meditation but suddenly you will completely forget about them.

It may be due to some urgent reasons for your life. In students, it may be exams and in other persons, some crucial work comes in their lives.

So, they forget about meditation completely for that period.

However, in your subconscious mind, signs of spiritual awakening are progressing and will appear in the future.

One cause is urgent work or something else urgent and second cause is that when you will do act or meditation techniques for a long time, they become boring.

A mind can never live in boring acts. Either it wants to change them or wants to make them interesting.

Your diversion from meditation after some time is natural. It is a good sign. It means you are actually doing meditation.

That is why now you start feeling some boredom out of them.

It is one of the signs of spiritual awakening.

After refreshment, you can again start doing acts and techniques that will lead to spiritual enlightenment. It is just natural.

First, it was confined to your meditation only but now it can spread on the other acts of your life too.

Like when you will walk, you will suddenly feel that you are separate from the walking act. Body is walking and you are separate from it. Your legs are walking. Your arms are swaying but you are separate from them.

Now, it comes for a long lapse of time and then goes away. Now it can be your volunteer activities.

For example, if you are walking and you suddenly remember that now you have time and you can do meditation with your walking.

So, you do it and suddenly you are separate from your body and mind. Your body is walking and you are watching it.

However, when you indulge into some busy chore for example, in front of you, a car is approaching towards you with a very fast speed, your whole act of separateness from body and mind will vanish away.

You will forget about it for that moment and maybe for the rest of your day. Your churning mind will dominate the stage of your life.

You can feel this one in several times of your day. It can come for a longer time when you are safe and not busy and it will vanish away when you are not safe and are busy.

Your interest in studying books or listening to the spiritual subjects diminishes. You can read them but you feel that everywhere the same thing has mentioned.

Is religion or Spiritual Enlightenment needed today …

Good Morning,

Religion and Spirituality. Which is better to have? Do we need both? The Bible talks about worship and spiritual worship. Why would we need both?

Regardless of what denomination we are; learning how to use our Bible; learning the scripture and God's word is important. Attending church, be it in the form of a church, temple or another place where we can receive lessons helps to give us a foundation on which to grow in a spiritual sense with the Lord.

Yet, there are many who do not attend a specified building and still have a spiritual walk with God. And you would probably ask, how can you have a spiritual walk if you do not have religion?

The Bible states in Matthew 18:20, "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Then in Matthew 28:20, "teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

The Bible does not state anywhere that we must attend a designated place adorned with crosses, statutes of the disciples (apostles), or other "icons" in order to worship the Lord. Rather it says to teach everyone Gods word and his commandments.

Some will say, but if you go to church then you are fellowshipping with other followers of the Word; that you are in a place where God dwells and you must go to Church for otherwise you will not be saved.

Jesus said to us though, if we believe in Him and follow his teachings, that we will not die but instead have everlasting life.

In the book of Matthew, Chapter 7, verse 7, it is talking about prayer and the Golden Rule. It states, ""Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Here is a precept in three words to the same purport: Ask, Seek, Knock (v. 7); that is, in one word, "Pray; pray often; pray with sincerity and seriousness; pray, and pray again; make conscience of prayer, and be constant in it; make a business of prayer, and be earnest in it.

Ask; represent your wants and burdens to God, and refer yourselves to God for support and supply, according to his promise. Ask as a traveler asks the way; to pray is to inquire of God.

We must not only ask, but knock; we must come to God's door, must ask importunately; not only pray, but plead and wrestle with God; we must seek diligently; we must continue knocking; must persevere in prayer, and in the use of means; must endure to the end in the duty.

So where is God's door? Many will say, it is the door to the church. Many other's will say, the door to God lies within us. All we need to do is open our hearts to God and ask Him to be with us and guide us and believe in Him and to build upon that foundation of asking Him to be a working part of our lives on a daily basis for the rest of our earthly lives until we die and our soul goes home to God's heavenly kingdom for ever lasting life.

Now you are probably thinking, huh?

In the Old Testament the Lord God had a temple for His people; however, in the New Testament He has His people for a temple.

Paul taught, You are the temple of God (I Corinthians 3:16). The reason he can say that is because we have been redeemed by the death of Jesus Christ. Because of redemption, the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in the redeemed.

In the old dispensation of the law, the tabernacle and later the temple were given over entirely to God for His sacred use. They were called holy because they were separated and used for His purpose and glory alone. It symbolized the house of God on the earth.

Under the new dispensation of grace, the Christian is now called Gods temple. The believer must yield his or her whole life without any reserve to God. Our bodies are sacred temples, holy unto the Lord. God has claimed by means of redemption our bodies, and what He claimed for His holy purpose we must yield to Him. I beg you, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). We will do what the apostle admonishes as we remind ourselves that we are His holy temple. If we have learned that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we not defile our body. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Moreover, the temple in the old economy was given over to the Lord God for His unique possession. When Moses dedicated the tabernacle to God, He filled it with His glory. When King Solomon completed the temple, The cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord (I Kings 8:10-11).

From the moment you believe on Christ as your Savior, the Spirit of God dwells in you (Rom. 8:9). "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you" (Romans 8:11)

Paul clearly has in mind the glory of God filling the temple. Therefore, as the glory filled the temple of old, so the Holy Spirit dwells with the believer of Jesus Christ. He dwells in you. When a sinner has been born spiritually, God dwells in that holy place and that person can commune in fellowship with the Lor God in holiness. The Holy Spirit is a living person in the Godhead, who literally indwells us. The dwelling of the Holy Spirit in our bodies is a real indwelling of a real individual, spiritual person. That divine person is very God of very God; equal with the Father and the Son.

To the obedient disciple, Jesus promised that He and the Father will come unto him and make our abode with Him (John 14:23). That alone is the secret of the normal Christian life. We are to be God-possessed and indwelled by Him. Let us trust Him to do all that He has promised to do in and through us.

What I yield to God He accepts, cleanses, fills, and then uses me to His glory and honor. It is God within the soul of man, possessed today by faith, and throughout eternity.

The indwelling Holy Spirit, a living person, a divine presence, is Gods means of reconciling the world unto Himself (2 Cor. 5:17).

In the old dispensation, God took possession of His temple and indwelt it so He could bless His people and they in turn bless the world. The Holy Spirit invades the temple of your body, assumes residence in you, and begins the re-creation of Christ to the glory of the Father. One by one, as we yield to His sovereignty, He is changing the world. He gives us whole new strength and vitality. He brings us to the fullness of His life.

There is no greater pleasure to the Holy Spirit than to dwell in His temple and do extraordinary work through ordinary people who have learned to make themselves available to Him to reign with ungrieved sovereignty.

Top Living Masters – Enlightened People

There are no Masters living in the world, for Mastery is attained beyond the world. There are advanced students. There are students of great accomplishment. But there are no Masters living in the world. Perfection is not found here, only contribution. Whoever remains in the world remains to learn the lessons of the world. The lessons of the world must be learned not only in your individual life, but in a life of contribution as well. Steps to Knowledge

If mastery cannot be found within the world, then who are these top living masters? They are advanced students skilled practitioners. They have surrendered to the source of Grace within themselves and become empty vessels from which Heaven can express itself.

They are not Gods, Avatars or perfect individuals. Understanding what enlightenment is allows us to see them for what they truly are:intermediaries between the state of physical separation and our inherent spiritual reality. Such people have great gifts to give. Nonetheless, they remain human beings.

This list of top living masters will be controversial. How can one possibly judge and evaluate someones spiritual contributions? We certainly do not have the vantage point to pass such judgements. Besides, even the smallest gift or the simplest gesture can be a great spiritual teaching if it comes from Spirit. Nevertheless, wewish to highlight these gracious individuals whohave inspired us to reach deeper within.

Its this incredible daring and energy that makes him such a potent force for giving in the world. Aligned with the greater spiritual forces within, his creativity and talent for getting things done are used to good effect.

A great example is Sadhgurus Project Greenhands. This organizations aim is to increase his native state of Tamil Nadus forest cover to 33%. What does this have to do with enlightenment and spiritual advancement? Everything! Its all about giving the gifts you came here to give. What do you feel drawn to? Where can your talents be used?

Eckhart Tolle is without a doubt the most popular spiritual teacher of the modern age. His books are everywhere. He has brought spiritual practices like living in the moment and inner listening to a wide swath of people who normally would not give spiritual topics a second glance. Thank you Oprah! For this alone he deserves a mention on this list.

Spiritual advancement, enlightenmentand the fulfilment ofour spiritual purpose is a potential that rests within us all. It is not a privilege reserved for the monastic or small groups of adept practitioners. Many more people need to step up and give the gifts they came here to give. The future of humanity depends on it. Eckhart Tolle has done a fantastic job of bringing spirituality to the masses. This can be a useful bridge to more serious and complete spiritual practices.

Adyashantican articulatespiritual truths better than almost anyone. One cant help but feel a sense of peace around this mans gentle presence. This is a strength but can also be a weakness. The last thing the world needs is more spiritual seekers lulled into a sense of blissful complacency. That being said, his insights are a true contribution to humanitys spiritual heritage.

Zen was his initial spiritual practice but he had to leave it to achieve true spiritual union. This irony should not be lost on the practitioner. At some point, even the most useful ideas lose their usefulness and must be droppedat the gate. Spirit can never be defined or limited by our ideas, even ones found within the richness of the Zen tradition.
