While we as parents worry about the nutrition content of the food of our kids, we rarely think about how food can also affect our childs brains.

The feeding of children, the right way, has to be well monitored by their parents for their proper physical and mental growth of children. Healthy eating can stabilize childrens energy, sharpen their minds, and even out their moods.

Children who dont get proper nutrition during their first three years may be losing ground in intelligence to their better-nourished peers and hence children should be encouraged to eat healthy foods from an early age, and to avoid foods that arehigh in fat and sugar, as far as possible.

Nutrition has been called the single greatest environmental influence for children, and it remains essential during the initial years of life and during examination for their memory.

Nootropics are brain booster they are drugs or supplements which helps to improve cognitive function, memory, creativity or motivation particularly executive functions which is beneficial for the human brain.

The foods which are rich in nootropics are:

Eggs:are rich in choline, which helps transmit signals across neuronal membranes. Body use the choline in eggs to produce acetylcholine, which aids the body in achieving deep sleep to retaining new memories.

Spinach:Dark greens leafy vegetable like spinach and kale are the best source of brain-boosting nutrients lutein and zeaxanthin these nutrients helps in quicker mental recall, and increased capacity for memory.

Turmeric:turmeric which belong to ginger family helps stimulates neurogenic cellular creation, and is used in the treatment of depression, Alzheimers disease, and strokes.

Blueberries:contain Anthocyanin, an antioxidant which prevents the brain from aging. Anthocyanin helps improve memory and cognitive function, and even helps intra-cellular communication within our brains.

Dark chocolate: Flavanol-rich cocoa beans actually increase blood flow to the brain and can even trigger the production of new brain cells.

Oily fish:the long chain omega 3s in oily fish may improve learning and memory and reduce inflammation in the brain which helps in decreased risk of Alzheimers disease, depression and other mental health conditions.

Red wine: nootropic benefits in red wine are in its high levels of resveratrol, an antioxidant compound that targets the free radicals associated with some forms of cancer.

Nuts:walnuts have high amount of vitamin E that forms a protective layer around the brain cell membranes and ward off free radicals.

Coffee caffeine content in the coffee shows cognitive performance by blocking the activity of adenosine, an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. This neurotransmitter can reduce mental stamina and make one feel drowsy.

Green tea contains catechin and L-theanine which promote relaxation without sedation which is favourably promote brain function.

Water When we are dehydrated, we are more likely not to be able to think clearly. around two litres of water a day is recommended but it also depends on body weight, and level of physical activity of a person.

Hi David,So Im relatively new to Nootropics. I have done extensive reading on your website, but had a specific help question. Below is a brief summary of my medicated world of mental health:

Last year, a psychiatrist diagnosed me with Anxiety induced ADHD. (Which explained a lot of my academic struggles, feelings of self-worth, etc.)

She started out by prescribing me a Sustained Release (generic version of) Wellbutrin. (150mg) This helped considerably with my feelings of fatigue and lethargy, but didnt do very much in terms of motivation/focus/desire to study or get work done. (I am both a teacher and a student) She had also prescribed some sort of non-addictive anti-anxiety medication which made me feel ill (so I discontinued use within just a few days.)

I like to think Im very aware of both my body and my mind Ive practiced yoga for close to ten years now. I try to eat healthfully, and I try to practice self-care as much as possible.

About 7 months ago, though my doctor added Adderall (combination dosage 20mg XR & 20 mg IR) to my regimen p/day. That, and a new hormonal birth control, has really thrown my life off kilter.

At first, Adderall helped with getting all my work done! Staying focused, on-task, memory, etc. But more recently, I have experienced increased irritability and strong fits of anger(paired with a seemingly greater tolerance to Adderall? It seems to last for a shorter time.)

I have been trying to track how these emotional reactions relate to the time of the month, but is increasingly difficult to track the timing of my mood swings. (My partner has also noticed a change in my behavior.)

I try to take breaks from Adderall, but I find it quite difficult with an increased workload as of late. The days I do take breaks, I get by with combination Caffeine/L-Theanine.

Research into Nootropics, though, gives me hope that there is a better solution for my struggles.

What would you recommend? Ive looked at your suggestions for ADHD and Anxiety (separately), I was just wondering if there was something youd suggest based on my current RX. (I would like to taper off of prescription drugs, ideally. Perhaps come summer time, when I experience a true break, I will be able to relax more with a decreased work schedule

My current idea for a stack includes: Vitamin B-complex, L-theanine, L-tyrosine, Magnesium. Perhaps a cycled 5HTP? (for when PMS is nearly debilitating)

Anyways, if youve read this far, I sincerely appreciate it! Thank you in advance for your consideration.

All the best,M.

How To Hack Your Brain – Top 6 Nootropics

These 6 of my favorite nootropics for enhancing my cognitive performance.Get 20% Off Your Entire Order At Natural Stacks:https://naturalstacks.com/improvement...

I want to clarify that there is no magic pill. This isn't the movie Limitless where you can take a pill and suddenly you can calculate physics equations off the top of your head. I also do not support self-medicating with drugs such as Adderall (without a doctors prescription) to enhance your performance. Drugs like this help you for a short period of time, but the side effects and the toll it takes on your body is not worth it.

The term Nootropics simply refers to the wide range of synthetic and natural compounds that are thought to improve your brains function. Things such focus, motivation, memory, and even mental clarity. In order for something to be a Nootropic there should be no serious side effect, this rule means that most Nootropics will only offer you a slight edge. Not some crazy 4 hour high. The only nootropics you should look into are the ones with decades of research backing them up. It is your responsibility to conduct further research on these supplements before you start taking them. You should also consult with your doctor.

How To Hack Your Brain - Top 6 Nootropics

Sleep cages and ice baths: The extreme lifestyle of local biohackers – Minneapolis Star Tribune

In the predawn darkness, you can see an eerie red glow shining from the windows of the Hudson, Wis., home of Thaddeus Owen and his fiance, Heidi Sime.

The couple are awake, having slept in their Faraday cage a canopy over their bed that blocks electromagnetic fields like the Wi-Fi signals or radiation from cellphone towers, which they believe are harmful.

Their primal sleeping environment also has special pads under the bed that are supposed to mimic the effect of sleeping on the ground under the influence of the Earths magnetic field, thus combating Magnetic Field Deficiency Syndrome.

Their house is bathed in red light because they think white incandescent, LED and fluorescent lighting robs them of sleep-regulating melatonin hormones. They wear special sunglasses indoors for the same reason, blocking the blue light from computers, cellphones or televisions when its dark outside.

Their morning routine includes yoga in a shielded, infrared sauna designed to create an EMF-free ancestral space, and putting tiny spoonfuls of bitter white powders under their tongues. These are nootropics, so-called smart drugs, which are supposed to improve focus, mood or memory.

When day breaks, they go out in their yard and face the rising sun Thaddeus in shorts and no shirt, Heidi in a sports bra and yoga pants doing Qigong in the snow and 25-degree air.

Getting early-morning sunlight, they believe, will correctly set the circadian rhythm of their bodies. Exposing their skin to the freezing temperatures, they hope, will help release human growth hormone, stimulate their immune system and trigger the body to burn fat to heat itself.

Forget Blue Zones. This is what your morning looks like if youre biohacking your way to an optimal you.

Biohacking is a DIY biology movement that started in Silicon Valley by people who want to boost productivity and human performance and engineer away aging and ordinary life spans. Think of it as high-tech tinkering, but instead of trying to create a better phone, biohackers are trying to upgrade to a faster, smarter, longer lasting, enhanced version of themselves.

Owen, 44, describes it as a journey of self-experimentation, using practices that are not talked about by mainstream media and your family doctor. His aim is to combine the latest technology and science with ancient knowledge to modify his environment, inside and out.

My entire goal is to basically age in reverse, he said.

Aiming for supernormal

Owen, who is from New York, studied chemical engineering in college. He worked for Procter & Gamble, helping to create beauty care products, and for pharmaceutical firms, developing manufacturing processes.

Now he works from home, managing worldwide product regulations in the sustainability department for office furniture company Herman Miller. But he moonlights as a biohacking guru.

He started a Twin Cities biohacking Meetup group that organizes weekly cold-water immersions at Cedar Lake in Minneapolis. Hes given a TEDx talk urging audience members to wear blue-light-blocking glasses indoors at night.

Hes helping to organize a Cold Thermogenesis and Heat Shock retreat at the end of next month in Pequot Lakes, Minn., where 50 people will pay up to $2,300 to spend four days going on shiver walks, drinking Bulletproof coffee and plunging into ice water.

He founded the website primalhacker.com and he and the 45-year-old Sime (who also goes by the name Tomorrow) run a website called thaddeustomorrow.com, where they market biohacking products like red light panels, a baby blanket that blocks EMF radiation and a $5,499 Faraday cage sauna thats the same type used by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

Owen said he relies on tons of research to support avoiding blue light at night and the healing properties of the early morning sun.

The Harvard Health Letter, for example, said that blue light from devices, LED and compact fluorescent bulbs can throw off the bodys circadian rhythm, affect sleep and might contribute to cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Some studies have shown that exposing people to cold temperatures burns calories and repeated cold-water immersions might stimulate the immune system.

And those infrared saunas? They dont appear to be harmful and maybe they do some good, according to Dr. Brent Bauer, an internal medicine expert at the Mayo Clinic.

But being healthy really doesnt need to be that complicated, according to Dr. Michael Joyner, a human performance specialist at the Mayo Clinic.

All these things sound great, Joyner said of the biohacks. Theres a ring of what I call bioplausibility to them.

But Joyner said its often hard to find evidence that biohacking practices actually work and that most Americans would be healthier if they just followed basic advice.

You need to go for a walk, not smoke, not drink too much, dont eat too much, he said.

But Owens goal is not to be merely healthy.

I want my biology to be shifted to that supernormal range, where Im optimally healthy, he said.

Moving into the mainstream?

When he started biohacking about 12 years ago, Owens goal was to improve his sleep. As a competitive athlete, he was fit, but he had problems with anxiety and insomnia.

So he started wearing special glasses to block blue light. His co-workers used to think he was odd. Now Owens company is asking him for advice on what kind of lighting should be used in work settings to keep employees healthy. And his sleep and anxiety problems have gone away.

I went from being the weird guy to being consulted, he said.

We all sort of watch what he does, said Gabe Wing, director of sustainability at Herman Miller and Owens boss. Wing said Owen has influenced some co-workers to try blue-light-blocking tools. But no one at the Michigan-based company is going outside shirtless in the winter.

Still, more people are biohacking. When Owen first got into it, he didnt know of any other biohackers in the Twin Cities. Now there are more than 500 people in the Biohackers Twin Cities Meetup group.

Susan Eiden regularly gets advice from Owen. The Minneapolis resident said using red lights at home has drawn comments from neighbors, but the lights combined with blue-blocking glasses and turning off the Wi-Fi at night have improved her sleep.

While many biohacks seem odd now, Owen is convinced that some of them will become common practices.

This whole blue light thing, its not going away, he said. More research comes out every day and its becoming more mainstream. And using nootropics is growing bigger and bigger every day, he said.

Owen takes supplements, some of which are considered prescription drugs in Europe and Russia, like phenylpiracetam, which is said to have boosted stamina among Soviet cosmonauts. Other preclinical compounds he and Sime use are in a regulatory gray area in the United States. Nootropic developers give them supplements that arent on the market yet because theyre biohacking influencers.

Were like lab rats. They send us stuff. We try it out, Sime said.

All for longevity

Owen and Sime have five of their children, ages 8 to 17, living with them. The kids wear blue-light-blocking glasses when they watch TV, but theyre OK with it, the couple said. Some of the kids have made videos or given talks to peers about the benefits of the glasses.

I think cellphone radiation is going to be the new lead, asbestos and smoking, said Owen, who turns his Wi-Fi off at night, keeps his cellphone in a special Faraday pouch when he sleeps and sometimes wears radiation-proof underwear.

(The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences says scientific evidence has not conclusively linked cellphone use with any adverse human health problems, although scientists admit that more research is needed.)

Owens diet isnt typical, either.

Hes been a vegan and a vegetarian. Now he eats what he describes as a local, seasonal diet: local vegetables, fruits, nuts and honey during the growing season. Thats followed by a high-fat, low-carb ketogenic diet in late fall and early winter. Then an all-carnivore diet in late winter, including animals hes raised at a friends farm.

One of the few white light bulbs he has in his house is pointed at the stove because in red light, its hard to tell if meat is cooked.

He also consumes ceremonial grade cacao, coffee with collagen peptides and chocolate ghee and homemade sauerkraut thats fermented and subjected to special music that has the frequency of love.

Those are living microbes, so I infused them with a love frequency to make them happy and healthy, said Owen, who has a masters degree in holistic nutrition.

While he used to do marathons and triathlons, he now exercises for longevity rather than competition, with high-intensity training, weights, racquetball and cross-country skiing.

If its too cold to be barefoot when he goes out in the morning, hell put special straps on his boots to create a conductive connection between his body and the Earth.

Its a practice called grounding or Earthing thats supposed to allow electrons to pass between the Earth and his body to reduce inflammation and neutralize free radicals. Gwyneth Paltrow swears by it, according to an article on goop.com.

Owen doesnt have a particular longevity goal, unlike biohacker and Bulletproof Coffee founder Dave Asprey, who has said he wants to live to at least 180.

Owen just wants to be healthy and independent for as long as he lives.

I want to maximize the health of my biology to what its capable of, he said. I want to live the best life that I can. I want to be happy. And I want to have a body and a mind that does the things I want them to do.

Koios canned nootropic drink to be sold in over 10,000 retail locations by 2020 – BeverageDaily.com

The organic drink company uses earth grown components to give consumers energy containing a proprietary blend of nootropics, MCT oil (extract from coconut oil) and Lions Mane mushrooms, designed to increase blood flow to the brain.

Chris Miller, CEO, Koios, told BeverageDaily nootropics, sometimes called smart drugs are herbs, foods, and supplements that enhance brain power (like memory, function, etc.), and offer other protective health benefits.

Nootropics are specifically designed to target brain function by increasing blood flow, oxygen levels, and neural connections in the brain, he said.

Brain function is becoming the worlds new currency as industrialized nations continue to move toward increasingly tech-heavy, creative-based economies. As a result, people have turned to mass market energy drinks, despite the staggering long-term adverse health effects associated with these beverages.

Today theres a healthier alternative to energy drinks in the form of nootropic functional beverages that boost your mood and increase cognitive performance.

He added Koios launched its first beverage, as a science-based approach to nutrition in 2015 and within six months it managed to get listed in over 4,000 retail locations in the US including; Amazon, 7-11, GNC, Walmart, Wishing-U-Well and Safeway.

Many people are just now hearing about nootropics, yet the market size is estimated to be worth $4.94bn by 2025, said Miller.

Its no secret that the information age we live in today puts more strain on our brains and bodies. It is also putting more demands on all of us to perform mentally day in and day out. However, many of us do not get the nutrients we need to perform at our best.

Nootropics are effective at improving mood because they work with the brains natural chemistry. They help reduce negative feelings and increase an overall feeling of well-being.

From a scientific perspective, nootropics affect certain neurotransmission systems in the brain and these neurotransmitters tell our brain to feel happy, sad, motivated and a myriad of other feelings and emotions.

According to a recent Gallup study, job burnout accounts for an estimated $190bn in healthcare spending each year.

Miller added enhancing brain function can mean decreasing mental fatigue, improving focus, boosting memory skills and reaction time, and overall feeling more alert.

Last year Americans spent over $300bn on coffee, energy drinks, and supplements, presumably to keep up with the heavy demands of their work/life and to feel better. Is that investment paying off? he said.

According to Faith Popcorn, an American futurist, people will soon need to enhance their mental performance if they want to compete with artificial intelligence.

She claims Nootropics will be one of the hottest trends over the next 10 years because the technology we use now to enhance our performance is outdated and not viable long-term.

Nootropics Market: Rapid Increase In The Application Predict By 2029 - True Version

Flexitarianism may save the planet — but it’s killed the traditional European diet – FoodNavigator.com

We need to learn a new language, said Kevin Camphuis, co-founder of Paris-based business accelerator Shakeup Factory.

Food choices, he explained, were once split between a Latin diet (characterised by an attitude of food meaning pleasure, taste and a social occasion) and the Anglo-Saxon diet (based on the philosophy that food equalled fuel and functionality).

However, there is a new culture of food which is more flexitarian and vegetarian, he said. The values the new generations have towards food is completely different to past generations. These eaters have a fast and casual approach to food, noted Camphuis. They seek food on demand that has health benefits. They are interested in plant-based foods, sustainability and novel ingredients.

"We've been growing, transforming, packaging, selling and eating the same food the same way for 60 years, said Camphuis. And it's over now. There's a new vocabulary that we have to learn that is very different from the previous one.

Whereas consumers traditionally sought two-to-three meals a day and made decisions based on trust, price and functionality, younger eaters demand as much as five-to-seven foods a day and value variety and immediacy.

Rick Miller from market research company Mintel agreed."The generation born after 1995 are questioning more and are less trustworthy of the bigger brands. That mean that smaller artisan brands seem to do better as they're leaner and they can change their business models to reflect consumers growing needs. What sits well with these consumers, he said, are brands that tell a story not just in terms of their product, but what they stand for as a company".

Miller cited the brand Tribe, which makes cereal bars aimed at runners, as an example of a company successfully 'telling a story' to connect with these consumers.

"Their whole business model and premise is based around fuelling from a clean and natural point of view but is also centred around ending modern slavery: its a powerful message and also niche. They're not talking about climate change or their carbon footprint: they're talking about this in particular and they've built and entire community around that."

The younger generation wants to know that brands care, and what they stand for, he continued. "It's not good enough now just to say 'we produce the best boiled sweets on the planet.'"

They also want snacks. "The snackifaction of our culture continues to escalate which may or may not be a good thing for the obesity crisis, noted Miller. We're also getting sportification and the merging of different sectors that were once very distinct. For example a few years ago you never would have seen an average consumer having creatine or Beta-Alanine or even protein supplements. Now you can go into any supermarket and buy a protein dink or a soft drink with cognitive enhancing ingredients, Nootropics and botanicals. The consumer wants more functionality, they want a merging of sectors together.

Interestingly, not all these food trends are being led by younger people. Populations are, after all, ageing dramatically in most developed countries. "We're living longer, but we're spending less years of our lives in good health," said Miller.

As such, consumers will increasingly demand food and beverage innovations offering solutions in areas such as mental alertness, physical resilience and skin reticence.

Meanwhile, Miller presented the tantalising question of what happens when two trends ageing populations and young people and the sustainability agenda meet? "The NHS [the UKs free healthcare system] produces nearly 6% of the UK's greenhouse emissions and wastes 100,000 meals a day in hospitals. Are we going to see the rise of the sustainable patient eventually?

Andres Montefeltro, CEO of Spain-based cultured meat company Cubiq Foods, added: "I think the opportunity here is that they need us to generate a new type of food. We used to say that processed food is bad. And now processed food can become more nutritional, and healthier than natural ones.

Tracks of the week reviewed: Lauryn Hill, Grimes, Pet Shop Boys – The Guardian

Lauryn Hill Guarding the Gates

Everybody wants to know, what youre gonna do, where you going to. Yes, Lauryn, probably because theyre making a seven-part Netflix biopic about you - or more specificially, the whole sad cavalcade that has dogged the biggest talent of 1998. It is jarring to hear her as she is now singing with the weathered drawl of a woman with a Wikipedia subhead for Further Activities and Imprisonment. However, this lost soul howling into the storm still sounds as though she never let the fire die. After all, as she sings: You can laugh at me. But Im in love. Dont you wish you had been in love?

It is now evident that Beck achieved his final form on Sea Change. Peel back the onion of weird-folk, slack-rock, sex-funk, alt-hop, and underneath is just a gelatinous cube of singer-songwriter. Who knows why it happened, but somewhere along the line we have come to expect the same from him as we do from a late-period Springsteen: 1,700 warm words in Uncut that equate to perfectly serviceable modern rock songs.

Featuring Bernard Butler, it says here, but as Bernard seems to be doing nothing more than strumming open chords, thats a bit like getting Andr the Giant to open your pickle jars. One of those plangent, world-weary shuffling ones Tennant and Lowe seem to think we all expect from them, and more autumnal than seasonal affective disorder.

KSI has recruited Rick Ross and its not immediately clear who is doing whom a favour. In 2019, what do big-time rappers think when they get the call to guest on YouTubers tracks? Now that the game is Fifa on Twitch and some kind of food challenge, is Rick simply grateful for the exposure? I mean, theres everyday hustlin and then there is being the icing on someone elses vanity-rap career.

The Pixie Enya Chillout Room is open. When reports of the musicians new daily routine began filtering through this summer flotation tanks, sword fighting, an alphabet soup of nootropics it sounded as though she was having a creative breakdown. Turns out she was just becoming bulletproof. Heavy is the size of it: all this ethereal nonnying would sound trite if it werent welded to such a dense, sleek groove.

These are the food trends youll see taking over Whole Foods in 2020 – Well+Good

As far as healthy trend-spotting goes, Whole Foods is pretty up on it. Even with grocery stores getting healthier across the board (a major positive), the organic market is still a leader in the wellness industry. Its aisles continue to be places consumers discover emerging brands that later turn into full-blown popular faves. (A few they started stocking early: Siete Foods, Caulipower, and Siggis.)

As part of their scouting, Whole Foods has trend spotters (what they call foragers) all over the world, all on the hunt to discover small brands (often with just a small table at the local farmers market) with big dreams of landing on their shelves. Every year, the retailer uses this intelas well as market data and statsto create their carefully curated wellness trends calling the ingredients and foods that will dominate the health world (and their store shelves) in the coming year. Ready for a peek inside Whole Foods crystal ball? Check out the ones were most excited about below and head to their site to see the full list.

Check out this video to see a registered dietitians favorite foods to buy at Whole Foods:

Whole Foods recognizes that consumers not only want to support healthy brands, they want to make sure theyre supporting sustainable ones tooa topic Well+Good devoted a recent event to. Regenerative agriculture essentially describes farming practices that restore soil quality, improve local biodiversity, and increase carbon capture to benefit the environment. Whole Foods acknowledges that more brands are shifting to regenerative agriculture, including White Oaks Pastures and Cowgirl Creamery.

The rise in gluten-free eaters (and people cutting carbs) has led to an uptick in the number of alternative flours on the market, and Whole Foods is pledging to be the place to find quite the variety. Besides the ones youve likely already heard of, like almond flour and oat flour, Whole Foods trend spotters predict more interesting ones to come out next year, like banana flour and tigernut flour.

Whole Foods consistently has their eye on international trends in their annual predictions, and West Africa is their standout region for 2020. Besides moringa (one of Well+Goods Wellness Trends in 2018), expect to see more foods made with other West African staples, such as cereal grains like sorgum, teff, and millet.

Well+Good reported earlier this year on the healthy makeover the frozen food section has gotten. Not only do Whole Foods foragers see it too, they expect this section of the grocery store to become even more populated with healthy snacks in 2020. Looks like youll need a bigger fridge.

As Well+Good previously reported, theres a whole slew of products coming out that combine meat with vegetables to give flexitarian consumers the best of both worlds. Whole Foods has taken notice, too. While youre still going to see many all-out vegan alternatives coming out, you can expect to see more of these blended products right beside them, too.

As the sober-curious scene continues to gain momentum, more alcohol alternatives are coming outand they go way beyond just seltzer and kombucha. At Well+Good, weve seen alt-alcohol products made with adaptogens, nootropics, and botanicals. Now, it looks like youll be able to get many of these type of products at your local Whole Foods. Healthier, better options are definitely worth raising a glass to.

Check out Whole Foods trends from last year to see how they played out. Well+Good will be announcing its wellness trends soon too. Heres what we predicted for 2019.

After the peak growth for the brain has reached, the reduction in efficiency can be seen in the following decades. The major cause of the reduced efficiency is due to the loss of neurons, reduced plasticity and reduced synaptic density. The rate of decrease is accelerated after the age of 40. This translates into the loss of nearly 5% pre decade can be observed. Proper maintenance of the body and special attention to the dietary nutrition can alter the loss rate in positive way. Increased Magnesium Supplement Sale to amplify position of magtein

Recent researches have shown that majority of the American population rarely meets the needed daily nutritional index. Magnesium is one of the most important mineral that should be part of daily nutritional intake. With the increasing research on magtein by health fanatics, there has been noticeable preference of magnesium supplements in the market. Magtein has been through many clinical trials and is proven to have better efficacy than the magnesium supplements available in the market. This will augment the position of magtein as one of the one of the leading magnesium supplements. The magtein supplement is still in the early stage of awareness. With the increasing awareness of the nootropic supplements, magtein is likely to emerge as a strong contender with the established nootropics.

Awareness of Brain health

The focus of the dietary supplements industry has been focused towards development of supplements that enhance individual nutritional profiles and boost performance. This has amplified the development of nootropics. Magtein has been tailored to boost the magnesium levels in the brain. The clinical trials on magtein have shown to boost executive function and in turn increase overall cognitive functions of the brain. The stigma involved with the usage of dietary supplements has still been evident in the ASEAN economies. The consumers in these regions have shown the tendency of consumers to prefer traditional dietary supplements to maintain their health. But the lack of proper measurement of efficacy of the traditional medicine is still being researched. Nootropics are still in the stage of product introduction in these regions. The increasing awareness of the benefits involved with dietary supplements will increase the potential of magtein in South Asia and Middle East & Africa.

What killed Adrian Lamo? – Boing Boing

Adrian Lamo is most famous for turning U.S. Army intelligence analyst and whistleblower Chelsea Manning in to the authorities, but was already well-known among hackers and journalists because of his penetration of The New York Times' source database, subsequent conviction for the hack, and his sparkling personality. He died mysteriously last year in what many assumed was suicide or murder, but NPR's Dina Temple-Raston investigated his last months and found a tragic figure in failing health, evicted by his carers and in chronic pain. He likely died overdosing prescription drugs, kratom and nootropics after suffering a twisted leg.

His doctor was in the process of weaning him off some of the medications, including reducing the three different benzodiazepines he was taking. That is of particular interest because about a month before Lamo died, the FDA came out with a medical alert a warning against mixing benzos with kratom. The combination had been linked to dozens of deaths.

"A few assessable cases with fatal outcomes raise concern that kratom is being used in combination with other drugs that affect the brain, including ... benzodiazepines," the alert read. Rohrig said Lamo had a handful of what he called designer benzos in his system, some of which weren't available by prescription in the U.S.

"The most common way of getting these particular ones is basically off the Internet," Rohrig told us. "You can order them and have them shipped to whatever address you want." Debbie Scroggin assumed that lots of the pills and supplements coming into the house were in those packages addressed to Adrian Alfonso.

Latest Report on Nootropics Market Expects an Extensive Growth in ROI of USD 5959 Million By 2024 - News Hours Today

Biohacking: The Art and Science of Upgrading the Human Being – Interesting Engineering

Biohacking, defined as better living though science, technology, and nature, is quickly taking a front seat in the current global growing emerging technology and biotechnology trends. Biohacking is considered a fast track to upgrading one's self.

Biohacking is all about making humans healthier, happier, and stronger with the vision of double humans' potential lifespan. The term Biohacking is relatively new. It was coined by Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof Nutrition Inc., author, Silicon Valley investor, technology entrepreneur, and the Father of Biohacking.

According to Dave Asprey's own definition and which was, by the way, incorporated to Merriam Webster's in 2018, Biohacking is the art and science of changing the environment around you and inside you so you have full control over your own biology.

Biohacking is about optimizing human performance. By using science, advanced technologies, and vast amount of data collected by wearables biohackers live up to the promise of an improved health, wellbeing, and nutrition, enhanced productivity and energy levels, improved quality of sleep and optimized physical activity.

Who can resist submitting to the promise of youthful looks and a healthier, longer life? However, there are many things that need to be learned first. To begin with, let's not confuse biohacking with bodyhacking.

Some people tend to confuse biohacking with bodyhacking. They are not the same.

Bodyhacking, has nothing to do with biology or chemistry, for starters. And some biohacking has nothing to do with a human's body. That is pretty much the first differentiator.

Bodyhacking is usually linked to wearable technologies. Some wearables monitor biological or health data. Some other wearables provide Augmented Reality enhancement of the vision; these wearables are currently used by industries such as healthcare and construction. These are examples of bodyhacking, not biohacking.

On the other hand, biohacking is about manipulating the biology of the brain or the body itself in order to enhance performance. Some aspects of biohacking, though, may include bodyhacking as well.

Boosting life expectancy

Boosting their life expectancy can be done by anyone following some simple habits such as following an improved diet that is usually plant based, exercising regularly, no smoking and reducing alcohol consumption, and improving the quality and amount of sleep. Boosting life expectancy sometimes implies a series of lifestyle changes. These are basic steps for anyone who wants to dip their toes in the biohacking world.

Biohacking claims that enhancing and optimizing human performance leads to longevity. Biohackers focus on longevity through everything they do in order to upgrade their life and lifestyle.

Nutrition, stress management, exercising, intermittent fasting, meditation, sleep tracking for an improved sleep, and supplements that are preferably natural and plant based are some of the things that can lead to longevity. Basically, live healthy, live long and prosper.

Cryotherapy is a cold therapy or ice treatment. By bringing the body temperature down at the tissue and cellular level biohackers claim it is possible to achieve therapeutic benefits and increase your metabolism. However, cryotherapy must be supervised by experts since along with the benefits there are also a few side effects and contraindications.

Cryotherapy can involve treatments with cold packs or ice packs to whole chambers. An introductory level of cryotherapy is to take cold showers for three days in a row for 10 seconds letting the shower hit the forehead. According to Dave Asprey, after day four it feels great. This is not something I am willing to try, though.

A version of cryotherapy in Finland is called avanto. This is a common practice in winter, especially alternating with sauna. It involves making a hole in the ice covering a lake and swimming in the frozen waters for a few minutes. Those who do this regularly say that it is invigorating and energizing. A few minutes of sauna and a good cup of hot coffee afterwards bring the temperature up.

Osteogenic machines

Biohackers claim they can strengthen bones in a matter of minutes by using high-tech machines called osteogenic machines, which are based on the science of osteogenic loading. Weight bearing exercises can improve bone health stimulating bone building and preventing or fighting bone loss.

This is based on the theory that it takes four times your body weight to grow and increase your bone density. This is done by high impact loading, which done only once a week for a few minutes, not more than ten with some exercises requiring just a few seconds. That should be more than enough for an optimized training, leaving long hours at the gym in the past.

OsteoStrong in Los Angeles offers a complimentary session for those who wish to learn more about the osteogenic training and try the technique that can strengthen the condition of their body to gain athletic performance.

Nootropics (smart drugs)

Nootropics are cognitive enhancers. They are natural or synthetic substances that may enhance mental skills and divided into three general categories: Dietary supplements, synthetic compounds, and prescription drugs. Supplements for memory boosting are nootropics that are commonly taken by students during exam periods.

People seeking to optimize cognitive function also follow a nutrient-dense diet, learn how to manage their stress, and work on improving their sleep quality. Nootropics are only a supplement that complements the aforementioned.

Dopamine fasting or intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting is a trend started in Silicon Valley and rapidly expanded to the rest of the world. It can be used for losing weight or to boost brain power and clarity. In Biohacking, it implies improving focus and concentration. Intermittent fasting can boost brain power. According to Dave Asprey, it only takes skipping breakfast and drinking only water, tea, or coffee.

The Biohacking culture has grown so much in the recent few years that dedicated conferences and events are being held around the world. The next Biohacking Summit takes place in Helsinki, Finland in December.

Best Nootropics (Smart Drugs) to Unlock Your True Brain

Nootropics sometimes calledsmart drugs are compounds that enhance brain function. Theyre becoming a popular way to give your mind an extra boost. According to one Telegraph report, up to 25% of students at leading UK universities have taken the prescription smart drug modafinil [1], and California tech startup employees are trying everything from Adderall to LSD to push their brains into a higher gear [2].

Ive been actively benefitting from nootropics since 1997, when I was struggling with cognitive performance and ordered almost $1000 worth of smart drugs from Europe (the only place where you could get them at the time). I remember opening the unmarked brown package and wondering whether the pharmaceuticals and natural substances would really enhance my brain.

They did, and Ive been a big fan of certain cognitive enhancers ever since.

Im wary of others, though. The trouble with using a blanket term like nootropics is that you lump all kinds of substances in together. Technically, you could argue that caffeine and cocaine are both nootropics, but theyre hardly equal. With so many ways to enhance your brain function, many of which have significant risks, its most valuable to look at nootropics on a case-by-case basis. Heres a list of 9 nootropics, along with my thoughts on each.

I started taking modafinil while getting my MBA at Wharton. At the same time, I was also working at a start-up that later sold for $600 million in value, so you can imagine how busy I was. I wanted a way to keep my brain running.

When I first started taking modafinil, I felt more like myself than I had in years. I took it just about every day in varying doses for 8 years (with a physicians prescription). It gave me energy and changed my life. I would not be the biohacker I am today without modafinil.

When I worked on the Bulletproof Diet book, I wanted to verify that the effects I was getting from Bulletproof Coffee were not coming from modafinil, so I stopped using it and measured my cognitive performance while I was off of it. What I found was that on Bulletproof Coffee and the Bulletproof Diet, my mental performance was almost identical to my performance on modafinil. I still travel with modafinil, and Ill take it on occasion, but while living a Bulletproof lifestyle I rarely feel the need.

Theres a slight risk (about 5 in a million people) of having a life-threatening immune reaction to modafinil. Its the same reaction that happens with ibuprofen and other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), so if you know you dont react well to NSAIDs, talk to your doctor before taking modafinil.

One reason I like modafinil is that it enhances dopamine release, but it binds to your dopamine receptors differently than addictive substances like cocaine and amphetamines do, which may be part of the reason modafinil shares many of the benefits of other stimulants but doesnt cause addiction or withdrawal symptoms. [3] [4] It does increase focus, problem-solving abilities, and wakefulness, but it is not in the same class of drugs as Adderall, and it is not a classical stimulant. Modafinil is off of patent, so you can get it generically, or order it from India. Its a prescription drug, so you need to talk to a physician.

You can also try armodafinil, which is a more purified form of modafinil with only biologically identical molecules in it. It has nearly identical and sometimes stronger effects. Its very expensive without insurance.

If you dont want to get a prescription, theresadrafinil, which has similarities, but I wouldnt recommend taking it regularly because it stresses your liver a lot.

Normally prescribed modafinil dose: 50-200 mg, taken in the morning (unless you want to be awake all night)

Normally prescribed armodafinil dose: 100-200 mg, taken in the morning

Adrafinil dose: 300 mg, taken in the morning

Nicotine can be a powerful nootropic if you take it carefully and sparingly. Heres a full guide to using nicotine as a nootropic, complete with pros and cons, risks, dose recommendations, and advice about what form of nicotine to use.

I do NOT recommend smoking cigarettes or using tobacco to get your nicotine. Im talking about very small doses that are far lower than youd get from smoking. Nicotine has a direct effect on your mitochondrial energy, and just about anything that increases mitochondrial function is going to make your brain work better.

Big Pharma has recommended amphetamine (Adderall) for ADHD sufferers for years now. Its also popular on college campuses around exam time. Too bad, because there are much better choices.

Amphetamine has substantial risks. In healthy adults, itimproves attention, focus, motivation to work, and short-term memory, all by increasing dopamine and norepinephrine release in your prefrontal cortex. [5] [6] Amphetamine also decreases fatigue, but it makes you jittery and can increase anxiety.

What worries me about amphetamine is its addictive potential, and the fact that it can cause stress and anxiety. Research says its only slightly likely to cause addiction in people with ADHD, [7] but we dont know much about its addictive potential in healthy adults. We all know the addictive potential of methamphetamine, and amphetamine is closely related enough to make me nervous about so many people giving it to their children. Amphetamines cause withdrawal symptoms, so the potential for addiction is there.

If you want a stimulant, drink coffee.

Because smart drugs like modafinil, nicotine, and Adderall come with drawbacks, I developed my own line of nootropics, including Forbose and SmartMode, thats safe, widely available, and doesnt require a prescription. Forskolin, found in Forbose, has been a part of Indian Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. In addition to being fun to say, forskolin increases cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), a molecule essential to learning and memory formation. [8]

I have used forskolin for more than a decade.

Forskolin is especially effective if you combine it with artichoke extract. Artichoke extract inhibits PDE4, an enzyme that breaks down cAMP. PDE4 inhibitors make cAMP more available, and when you add in artichoke extracts cAMP-enhancing effects, you get a significant boost to learning, memory, and motivation.

Or you get a headache and an energy crash when you come down.

That may be because upping cAMP uses more dopamine than your brain usually would. It affects different people differently. You only know if you tryit.

As part of our Bulletproof Brain Blend, Smart Mode contains artichoke extract, along with other cognitive-enhancing ingredients. Take with Forbose, to get your dose of forskolin. Forbose is a unique formulation that helps your body produce more energy to power through intense physical and mental activity.

Smart Mode dose: 3 softgels daily

Forbose dose: 2 capsules before or after activity

L-theanine is a major component of black and green tea. On its own, theanine promotes relaxation, [9] alertness, and arousal.[10]

Theanine also works synergistically with caffeine. Together, the two increase reaction time, memory, and mental endurance. [11]

You can get your theanine from a capsule like Zen Mode, or you can drink a cup or two of green tea. If you decide to do the green tea, look for tea thats grown in the shade, because shade-grown green tea typically has much higher levels of theanine.

L-theanine dose: 200 mg. Take 3Zen Modesoftgels with your morning coffee, or you can take it at night, like me.

Thisis a small water plant native to India. Bacopais an adaptogen it helps your body adapt to stress. It also improves memory in healthy adults[12] and enhances attention and mood in people over 65. [13] Scientists still dont fully understand how Bacopa works, but they do know it takes time to work; study participants didnt feel its memory-enhancing effects until theyd been supplementing with it daily for 4 weeks, so if you try Bacopa, stick with it for a month before you give up on it.

Bacopa suppresses sperm production in male mice, so you may want to skip it if youre trying to conceive. [14] It didnt affect the mices testosterone or sex drive, though.

A lot of nootropic companies include Bacopa in their stacks, but they often dont use enough to give you real benefits. You want at least 750 mg daily. Take Bacopa with a fat source to increase its absorption.

Bacopa monnieri dose: At least 750 mg daily, taken with a source of fat

Unfair Advantage supports your mitochondria, the power plants of your cells, with two different ingredients:

You have the highest density of mitochondria in your brains prefrontal cortex, which helps to explain why I feel Unfair Advantage in my head first. You have the second highest density in your heart, which is probably why I feel it in the center of my chest next. Mitochondrial energizers can have profound nootropic effects! At higher doses mitochondrial energizers also make for an excellent pre-workout supplements.

Unfair Advantage dose: 1-4 ampules, taken any time

KetoPrimeis another powerful nootropic. It contains oxaloacetate, a compound that can shield your brain from environmental toxins.

Common environmental toxins pesticides, for example cause your brain to release glutamate (a neurotransmitter). Your brain needs glutamate to function, but when you create too much of it it becomes toxic and starts killing neurons. Oxaloacetate protects rodents from glutamate-induced brain damage.[17] Of course, we need more research to determine whether or not oxaloacetate has the same effect on humans.

KetoPrimeis a great way to give your brain a little extra boost. In animal studies, it also modifies the Krebs Cycle, shifting the ratio of NADH to NAD+, which makes mitochondrial energy production more efficient.

KetoPrime dose: 1 lozenge, taken in the morning

NeuroMaster is a supplement I helped formulate when I learned about the power of coffee fruit extract. This stuff significantly increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels even more than exercise. BDNF is a crucial neuroprotein that helps increase neuroplasticity and create new neurons, resulting in better memory and focus.

This is important for the short-term, and essential for the long-term because you naturally lose BDNF as you age. Lower BDNF levels are associated with age-related hippocampal shrinkage and memory decline.[18]

100 mg of extract of coffee fruit (the red fruit surrounding coffee beans) raised BDNF by about 140% in several studies.[19][20][21] The boost lasted for a few hours.

NeuroMaster dose: 1 cap, taken in the morning with or without food

When you first start taking nootropics, sometimes youll feel like nothing is happening. Thats what I experienced. Then, a week later, I quit taking them, and noticed their absence immediately. This is because when your brain works better, it feels so natural that its hard to notice unless you have a great degree of self-awareness.

On the other hand, sometimes youll feel a great cognitive boost as soon as you take a pill. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. I find, for example, that modafinil makes you more of what you already are. That means if you are already kind of a dick and you take modafinil, you might act like a really big dick and regret it. It certainly happened to me! I like to think that Ive done enough hacking of my brain that Ive gotten over that programming and that when I use nootropics they help me help people.

You can also get profoundly depressed. One of the nootropics I did not write about here, Lucidril, has superb anti-aging and cognitive benefits for some people, but others get deeply sad after taking it. After three days on Lucidril I felt entirely hopeless about my life. Fortunately, Id done my research and I stopped taking it immediately.

There is inherent risk in experimenting with pharmaceuticals, or illegal drugs like LSD. The risk is greater than it is with most natural substances. You can have a psychotic experience if you take too much LSD; youre more likely to get a big headache if you take too much of a choline-stimulating herbal substance.

It also pays to check the purity of your nootropics. Ive seen some companies promoting pre-made nootropic stacks that contain ingredients like blue agave (fructose!), food coloring even pieces of metal. Read your labels!

I have great hope that medicine will wake up to the amazing benefits of nootropics and begin to incorporate them into society. Many of them not only increase your quality of life, they make your brain more resilient to the environment around you. We could all use a little more that.

Before you try nootropics, I suggest you start with the basics: get rid of the things in your diet and life that reduce cognitive performance first. That is easiest. Then, add in energizers like Brain Octane and clean up your diet. Then, go for the herbals and the natural nootropics. Use the pharmaceuticals selectively only after youve figured out your basics.

The truth is that, almost 20 years ago when my brain was failing and I was fat and tired, I did not know to follow this advice. I bought $1000 worth of smart drugs from Europe, took them all at once out of desperation, and got enough cognitive function to save my career and tackle my metabolic problems. With the information we have now, you dont need to do that. Please learn from my mistakes!

What are Nootropics? | Braintropic

Nootropics are supplements, drugs, or functional foods, that enhance cognitive functions such as intelligence, memory, creativity, and attention.

Nootropics have seen an influx of interest over the last several years as people search for ways to maximize their brains potential.

The word itself, coined by the Romanian psychologist and chemist Dr. Corneliu E. Giurgea who synthesized the first nootropic piracetam over 50 years ago, is a combination of the Greek words nous (mind) and trepein (to bend or turn).

According to Dr. Giurgeas definition, nootropics:

Piracetam, the first nootropic created, is still widely regarded as one of the best nootropics available, particularly a good choice for first-time users.

However, since piracetam was first synthesized, several more nootropics have been created meaning that today we now have a whole array of options to choose from.

While nootropics are not a miracle drugs that will turn an ordinary person into a genius overnight, research suggests that some nootropics are able to augment the power of the human brain, especially its capacity for memory and ability to learn, essentially making people smarter.

Nootropics are not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. You still need to work hard when learning. However, nootropics may provide an edge that allows your brain to function at its best.

Nootropics are also regarded for their ability to contribute to the brains overall long-term well-being. Billions of neurotransmitters and receptors control the brain and all of its functions and modulating their behavior can result in improved brain function.

In addition to providing enhanced learning ability, the improved responses of neurotransmitters mean greater resistance to the normal cognitive decline that comes with aging as well as to cognitive disorders such as amnesia and dementia.

Some nootropics work by increasing the supply of oxygen-rich blood to the brain or by increasing the brains acetylcholine levels, the neurotransmitter that is largely responsible for the brains memory, learning, and mood functions.

Other nootropics, such as Lions Mane can even stimulate the production of Nerve Growth Factor wherein protein synthesis results in the growth of brain cells, particularly in the cells dendrites that make the communication of impulses possible throughout the central nervous system. Dendritic growth means faster communication, which in turn translates into improved learning and memory. It must be noted that some nootropics must be taken for days or weeks for its beneficial effects to kick in.

There are others, such as Noopept or phenylpiracetam, that have immediate effects.

With so many options out there, its important to do your research and find the right nootropic for your needs.

Nootropics are generally categorized into three main groups: racetams, stimulants, and nutraceuticals. Each nootropic group has a specific set of functions that contribute to preserving and improving the brains capability and health.

It is possible also possible to combine different nootropics, known as stacking, resulting in a powerful synergistic effect where the individual components of the stack produce an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects.

If youre a student facing difficulty in exams, a working professional looking for that extra edge, and an older person that wants to continue enjoying the mental agility of a young mind, nootropics may be the answer youre looking for.

Nootropics – reddit

Just thought Id share my experiences with some not-so-well-known nootropics/supplements Ive taken. Most of them are Russian, which is probably why there arent much user experiences written about them on here or Longecity. Let me know if you want me to go into more detail on any of them or if you have any questions. If some of you find this list helpful I can make more lists of nootropics Ive tried for different symptoms (mood, cognition, social anxiety, anhedonia). Check out my early post history for more reviews or my old account which I lost the password to and can not access anymore (/u/Nedzilla55). Anyways, heres my list of 20 not-so-well-know (and a few well know) nootropics/supplements. Theyre listed in no particular order.

Pantogam and Pantogam Activ - Feels somewhat like Phenibut lite, without the extreme tolerance. Effects are not as intense as phenibut or Baclofen but its a nice little anxiolytic which is somewhat energizing as well (as strange as that sounds). Almost like a couple of drinks. Made it easier for me to just be myself (as weird as that sounds). You may find yourself humming in the car or listening to music while doing goofy dance moves from the early 2000s. Makes it easier to laugh and just enjoy myself while being in the moment.

Low Dose Amisilpride (12.5mg - 25mg). Dont let the antipsychotic label scare you: thats only at regular doses. At very low doses, it enhances dopamine transmission and facilitates dopamineric neurotransission and is a wonderful as needed mood brightener. Great for anhedonia. Helps to feel more in the moment and makes things like conversations with others more enjoyable.

Tenoten - Didnt feel much from this one unfortunately. Its supposed to work for anxiety and stress. Not too many experience reports online either (In English, at least). Might as well have been a sugar pill.

GABOB - Brain fog, sleepy ness, sedation... not a fan of this one. Benadryl type feeling almost. Not enjoyable at all and overall letdown IME.

Picamilon - Developed by Soviet Russia, this is considered a pro drug of GABA. It can be somewhat energizing or anxiolytic depending on the dose. Very subtle though, possible placebo effect. I havent found too many positive experiences online with this one either.

Agomelatine - This atypical antidepressant is an agonist at the melatonin receptors along with 5-HT2C antagonist. Helps me fall asleep when taken before bedtime, but has an activating/energizing feel upon waking up. Good alternative to try if youve had no luck with conventional antidepressants. I've read experience reports about it causing irritation at higher doses. I have not experienced this but YMMV.

Afobazole - This obscure little Ruski supplement feels somewhat anxiolytic but effects were pretty subtle to me. I may revisit this one with a higher dosage

Sarcosine+NAC - Ok so this one may not be very obscure but I enjoy its effects so I figured Id at least share. NAC literally cured my trichtillomania. Its an amazing antioxidant. Taken an hour before drinking it prevents hangovers IME. Sarcosine is great for anhedonia and other negative symptoms. Makes it easier to engage with others and feel.

Grandaxin - This is an interesting one. Its commonly described as anxiolytic and tranquilizing though I would not really agree with that description. Its an It feels activating physically yet quiets the mind. Too big of a dose caused irritability

Stresam - Nice little anxiolytic. Helps calm the mind and body. I like it to unwind after a stressful day at work. Puts me in a nice chill state when kicking back and watching documentaries or hanging out in nature

BPC-157 - Apparently its good for reducing stimulant tolerance and injuries? Again another one that may not be very obscure but I thought it may be of interest to some of you.

Nefiracetam - I love this one. Nice little mood brightener. Its hard to explain but it helps me connect the dots at work and when doing everyday activities. It makes it easy for me to read between the lines, especially in work/social situations. Its almost like it makes me feel more aware. Like I was brushing my teeth one day on it and I just zoned out to the feeling of the bristles of my toothbrush going against my teeth and gums and just kind of had me in the moment. It made me think why do I wet my toothbrush, maybe its better to leave it dry because the toothpaste sticks better to the toothbrush and my teeth. This may or may not be wrong but Ive had similar epiphanies on it. That may sound dumb but I dont know how to better describe its effect on me. I wish someone would have this in stock again 🙁

Oxytocin - I took it before an interview and had the best interview in my life. I was so engaged with the interviewer and felt like we already had some sort of connection. It was very easy to express myself. My girlfriend said I was very romantic (lol) when I took it before going out to dinner with her (which is sort of unusual for me). Great for deep convos and connecting with others. This is one of those that I can clearly rule out a placebo effect.

Sulbutiamine - I had high hopes for this one but unfortunately did not feel much of anything despite trying many different doses. People on here and Longecity reported energizing effects. Maybe Im just a non-responder?

Galantamine - this one is a cholinesterase inhibitor . Perefct for those who enjoy lucid dreaming. Increases acetylcholine in the brain, which may or may not be a good thing based on your personal neurochemistry.

Semax - These next 2 are not very obscure to those familiar with nootropics but felt I should include them for some reason. This one is activating. I really like it for jogging, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

Selank - Semaxs chill twin brother. This one is more anxiolytic. I really enjoy walks in the woods with this one for some reason. Or just sitting on my back porch enjoying the nice weather and scenery.

P-21 - R.I.P. Ceretropic 🙁 not sure if this is available anymore but I enjoyed its effects. It had more of an activating feel in my experience. Somewhat anxiogenic at times even. Not in a bad way though. Effects are hard to describe with this one.

D-Cycloserine - This one aids in learning by helping form stronger neural connections. Good for exposure therapy. I have a feeling this one would work much better when combined with CBT

GTS-21 - this one is a partial agonist at neural nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. It is a horrible smelly yellow substance with a repulsive taste and it leaves yellow stains on anything it touches, including your hands. Felt somewhat anxiolytic though activating at the same time. Ive only taken it for a week though. I may need to take it for a longer period of time to really feel its effects though. I will trial it for a month and report back its effects.
