Udi’s needs a new name

LOUISVILLE - A Louisville-based company with 10 restaurants needs your help finding a new name.

Udi's Foods sold its Gluten-Free division in 2012, and along with it, the name Udi's.

9NEWS Business Anchor Gregg Moss went behind-the-scenes of Udi's main bakery and food preparation facility Monday morning.

He'll talked with members of the founding family about their success, and how they've grown from a small sandwich shop that opened in 1994 to a company that's looking to grow.

Etain Bar-on, CEO and son of the founder, said they founded Udi's as a family with the community in mind, which is why they want to have their fans play a big part in the renaming process.

People can go to http://www.renameudis.com and submit their name ideas. They can explain why they think their idea is the best and they can also upload videos through Feb. 10.

Members of the Udi's family will pick their three favorites and from Feb. 17 to 28, the public will have a chance to vote on the favorite of those three.

The winner will get bragging rights and a party for 20 at one of Udi's restaurants.

The winner will be announced April 2 after a New Orleans-style funeral event takes place to bury the company's 20-year-old name.
