Twilight realizes that Spike, as a baby dragon, is unable to stay awake to help her with her astronomy studies, but finds help with a new pet owl, Owloysius. Spike becomes jealous that Owloysius will replace him as Twilight #39;s assistant, and unsuccessfully frames Owloysius. Later, when Twilight finds a book damaged by Spike #39;s fire breath, Spike decides to leave on his own, and finds a cave full of gems. Too late, he realizes it is a cave belonging to another dragon, but Twilight and Owloysius soon arrive and help save him. Twilight admits to Spike that she only needs additional help at night, and Spike remains her number one assistant. Spike apologizes and makes friends with Owloysius.
