We want to create an eco-system for student innovation

Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) will be working towards creating an eco-system for student innovation.

Our focus in the coming days will be on creating an eco-system for student innovation and applying for product patents, said Principal of SJCE Shakeeb Ur Rahman.

The alumni of the college, who are now representing different organisations worldwide, had interacted with the faculty and the students instilling in them the innovative urge meet current global demands. In a chat with The Hindu ahead of the valedictory of SJCEs golden jubilee scheduled for March 31, Mr. Rahman said the students will be encouraged to take up innovative projects and develop products for the benefit of society.

Also, a fruitful interaction between the college and the industry had seen 12 laboratories being set up by different industry giants like Motorola, IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on the campus.

The autonomous status of the college has helped it to include subjects of the industrys choice into the curriculum, which is offered to the student as an elective and not as a compulsory subject.
