By nature, Spike Lees Jordan Spizike and Son of Mars lines pay homage to a host of iconic Air Jordan silhouettes and have been hybridizing classics like the Jordan 3 and Jordan 6 into modern, but rooted-in-heritage models since 2006 and 2012, respectively. The Jordan Mars 270, designed by Jackson Lewis Lee, continues this tradition of remixing by not only mish-mashing pairs the likes of the Jordan 1 and Jordan 5, but also infusing Nikes Air Max 270 cushioning to the basketball-inspired model. This forthcoming release takes the homage-paying a step further with the fan-favorite Concord color scheme, notably seen at the tongue and midsole. While the white/black/purplish color combination is most often associated with the Jordan 11, the palette first graced an Air Max 180 worn by Michael Jordan in a photoshoot for the 1992 Olympics at least three years before the patent-leather sneaker captivated fans everywhere. Given its golden profile swooshes and split NIKE branding near the ankle and on the insole, this Mars 270 is undoubtedly tributing the AM180 which features these two details and not its more famous Concord relative.
