Michael Jordan Once Completely Clowned a Famous Rappers Shoe Idea, but They Still Ignored His Advice: No Ones Trying to Wear Some Christmas Shoes -…

Over the years, Michael Jordans shoe brand has become as popular as one of its kind can get. Due to its significant success, many basketball and sneaker fans dream of designing their own Air Jordans one day. However, most people would probably like MJ himself to actually approve of the kicks.

Macklemore, though, didnt get that nod from His Airness.

While the famous rapper did, in fact, get to design his own Jordans a few years back, the experience took somewhat of a turn when the Hall of Famer clowned his idea.

Michael Jordans shoes have become about as popular as any sneaker on the market. Since signing with Nike in 1984, MJ has earned over an estimated $1 billion from the company (per Forbes), and he even launched his own extension of it called Jordan Brand in 1997.

Because of its significant popularity, many Air Jordan player exclusives (PEs) have come out over the years. If youre unfamiliar with PEs, they are made specifically for players, and they dont typically go on the market to consumers.

According to Complexs Sole Collector, athletes to get custom Air Jordan PEs have included: Kobe Bryant, Gary Payton, Derek Jeter, Penny Hardaway, Shaquille ONeal, Ray Allen, Russell Westbrook, Deion Sanders, and many more.

In fact, while hes not a player, Macklemore is actually included on that list.

In 2015, Macklemore revealed to Complex Magazine that he got to design his own Air Jordans for performing at the Jordan Brand Classic. They ended up being the Air Jordan 6s.

The rapper said he then got to meet MJ at one point, and their interaction came when his shoe was still in the design phase. But the six-time NBA champ quickly let him know his real thoughts on the sneaker.

I showed him the shoe, Macklemore said to Complex. He was like I dont like green. He was like, F*** green. It reminds me of some Christmas s***. No ones trying to wear some Christmas shoes. Just completely discarded my colorway. I was like, OK, Ima still do it. You f***ed the game up. But I hear you.

Getting your idea clowned by Jordan probably didnt feel too good. But the green shoes make sense for Macklemore, given his Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks fandoms.

He shouldnt feel too bad, though, as the Chicago Bulls legend also hates another type of shoe.

In addition to green shoes, Michael Jordan apparently hates black kicks as well.

Hes not a fan of black shoes ever, former VP of Footwear for Jordan Brand, Gentry Humphrey, stated to The Complex Sneakers Podcast in 2021. He does not like black shoes. Youll probably rarely see him wear black shoes. Every time he wore them in the playoffs, it was a mentality. He wanted to wear black shoes based on how he wanted to take his game to the next level when he was in an opponents arena. So, he felt this notion of being stealth-like was important. That would be the only time. Casually, though, youll never see him wearing black shoes.

So, since he has a distinct taste in sneakers, you can absolutely bet that His Airness is involved in Jordan Brand meetings, specifically when it comes to recreating retro Air Jordans.

The one thing about Michael that Ive always said is hes, to me, the secret weapon of the brand, Humphrey also said when talking to Complex. People really underestimate how astute he is to the game. From a business standpoint, he can tell you the numbers of whats going on in the brand. And he loves footwear. I think that if he wasnt a professional athlete, hed probably want to do something in it.

Michael Jordan may be known as the NBA GOAT, but his influence on the sneaker world has been just as impactful.
