WATCH: Hovercraft struggles in the Solent strong winds and high seas hit hovers and trains – Isle of Wight County Press

HOVERTRAVEL services have been suspended this afternoon (Thursday) due to high winds in the Solent.

Commuter sailings will be affected, and an update on services later this evening is due at 5.15pm.

Island Line train services have been suspended between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier Head, due to high sea levels and poor weather conditions.

Until further notice, trains will terminate at Ryde Esplanade.

This video, showing a Hovertravel craft struggling in the Solent, has been posted on the Isle of Wight Webcams Facebook page.

UPDATE 7pm:Hovertravel services remain suspended, next update at 7.15pm.

UPDATE 8.23pm: All Hovertravel services have been suspended for the evening. Next update at 5.45am tomorrow (Friday).

*Services are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. The next update will be at on the 17/01/2020 at 5:45AM*

UPDATE 6.52am Friday: Services have resumed this morning (Friday) and are running to time.
