Fatima falls to Hickman

The Fatima Comets had their opportunities against the Hickman Kewpies in their Capital City Invitational opener Friday afternoon.

But they just couldnt pick up the big hit when they needed it.

The Kewpies scored two runs in the fourth inning and made them stand up in a 2-0 victory against the Comets at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex.

Hickman strung together four singles and two walks to score its two runs in the fourth off Fatima starter Reid Kesel.

That inning was the lone blip in an otherwise strong outing by Kesel. The senior allowed two walks and five hits in the game, striking out six. Will Robertson picked up three strikeouts in his inning of relief for the Comets.

Fatima, which had runners on base in five of the seven innings, finished with three hits.

Fatima will take on Rockhurst at 7:30 p.m. today in its next pool game at the Legion Complex.
