2012 Earth Awakening: Humo the Maya Elders of the Quiche Kingdom, Guatemala
In October 2012, Maya Elders of the Quiche Kingdom of Guatemala visited New York City to deliver a message of reassurance to the United Nations Secretariat and people of the world. While in New York, they performed a number of purification ceremonies and offered well-wishers blessings during this time of great transition as humanity prepares to enter the "Age of the Sixth Sun" that begins December 22, 2012. This will be a time of love, wisdom and understanding mdash;a return to community and partnership as people everywhere join forces to solve global challenges like climate change. There has been much confusion regarding the ancient Maya Calendar upcoming date December 21, 2012. The Maya Calendar reflects a rotational period of 26000 years mdash;a cycle in the cosmos that will culminate in a rare alignment of the earth, sun and center of the Milky Way on the 2012 Winter Solstice. Perceptions of people all over, from the US to China, have been wrongly influenced by the media #39;s portrayal of the 12/21/12 date. For example, the History Channel and Hollywood blockbuster 2012, that have led so many to think that the Mayan Calendar points to the "end of days" mdash;with undercurrents, unfortunately, of prejudice towards an ancient culture characterized by advanced knowledge of astronomy, medicine and healing practices. So the Maya Elders themselves wanted to deliver their message directly mdash;humanity is undergoing a renewal and the birth pains of a new beginning.
