Video Diary - About to head into the village...
I had just visited our free health clinic. Last time I visited it was yet to be opened so it was amazing to see it in full swing. I met a man whom after being in an accident, and braking his leg, had to sell his land to pay for consultations at another clinic, (4 trips 200). We found him in his home with his leg rotting away. He was in such a terrible condition, the other clinics said they would not treat him and that he would probably have to have his leg amputated. Since we found him, we have been treating him in our free multifunctional medical clinic, which has meant that he A. won #39;t loose his home, and B. keeps his leg! Now of to the village to meet a girl who is 13 (sorry i said 14 - I won #39;t give up my day job for presenting anytime soon!!!) who ran away after giving birth by C section and leaving her child behind. We worked with her and reunited them, why did she run? She was scared! We believe our free multifunctional medical clinics to be one of the most effective ways of reducing the rate of child abandonment. More than that, the clinics also provide a forum where vital education and knowledge sharing about disease prevention and improved health practices can take place.
