‘Nam 2010

In high school I did two projects about Vietnam one about its economic development and another about American films set during the Vietnam war this sparked my interest in the country and it was not until three years later that I had the chance to visit. Originally I intended to spend five weeks in Vietnam four in Saigon doing an internship for a media company and then nine days of Travel from S

Day Two in South Dakota

On day two we went to the Crazy Horse site and it was incredible. This is a privately funded project and although progress seems slow it is hard to conceive what they have already accomplished. Everyone should tour this project. We also went to Wind Cave which was interesting but not the prettiest cave we have ever seen.

‘Nam 2010Saigon HCM

In order to save money I took two separate flights to Saigon both of them were Thai Air Asia Asiarsquos Easyjet. During my flight from Bangkok to Saigon I met a woman on the plane who knew about the company was going to work for which gave me a sense of encouragement that I had let myself in for something good. Three hours later I did not feel the same way. Arriving at the airport I was hara

Mumbai to Pune and the UWCIndia

Travel from Mumbai to Pune. Today started with a pack up and move out from the Marigold Hotel to the MUWCI Mahindra United World College Campus in Pune. With many open waterfalls and lush vegetation during t

Day One Ottawa to Vancouver

Waking up a teenager at 430 am is never fun EXCEPT when it is to catch a plane Julia and I were up early and at the airport by 6 am to catch our flight. Unfortunately the airline lsquogodsrsquo were not on our side and our flight was delayed by an hour. No biggie but that extra hour sleep would have been welcome by all. By 800 am we were in the air and on our way. A turbulent flight w

Day 7 Grand Canyon to Barstow CA

Nothing exciting today. Got up at 4 am and left around 530am. The goal today is to beat the heat because we'll be traveling through the Mojave desert. At one point George said it was 105 degrees. I asked him not to tell me anymore. We arrived at the Best Western that's right no camping tonight around noon. Piper has been a real trouper. We've been careful to keep her hydrated everytime

Nam’ 2010 Hue or Hway

The train ride from Saigon to Hue lasted 24 hours. It was not the most enjoyable train ride I had ever taken. I slept on the middle bunk beneath me were two Vietnamese families yes families not individual passengers who occupied two small beds. They were so loud the kids were constantly screaming at the top of their voices the woman beside me was friendly but was shouting down her phone every

Fraser Island

Ok so Fraser Island has to be the best experience I have had so far absolutely a great laugh. We arrived at Hervey Bay and stayed at a hostel called Beaches. It is through Beaches that our Fraser Island and Whitsunday packages are booked through. We stayed on night in Hervey Bay getting ready for the trip to Fraser the next day. Basically you get put into a group of 8 and share a 4x4 vehicle.

Nam’ 2010 Hanoi shittest city in Asia

I have only one word in which to describe Hanoihellipshit I checked into the hostel after arriving in Hanoi during the early hours of the morning. The hostel was located in the old quarter which contrary to the lonely planet guide is not full of charm it is not the Asia that I always dreamed of it is shit. The only exception to the shittiness that is Hanoi is the huge lake in the city centre.

Day 91

I was woken suddenly at 6am by one of the bus conductors to find that the bus was completely empty besides me. We had clearly arrived at Cochabamba some time ago. As I peered out of the window I noticed that my bag had already been unloaded and was laid on the floor next to the bus. After being hurried off the bus by the conductor I went to pick up my bag at the same time as the bus began to re

Zhangjiajie

Ni Hao from Zhangjiajie We've just spent the last few days around the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park which is home to the Avatar mountains. Obviously not the floating mountains with blue mystical creatures hanging off them but merely mountains or karsks add that to your vocab for today that very loosely look like the ones in the film. The park was huge and amazing and bar the Avatar memorabi
