Days 13After a grueling 19hr flight I finally made it to Phuket My cold really acted up on the plane with the lack of fresh and and pressure when landing and taking off which made for a pretty miserable flight. However the awesome Korean food and over abundance of newrelease movies made up for it. When I landed in the airport I was greeted by a man holding a sign with my name for the bunglao

Vientiane 1011 Feb 2011
Thursday 10th February 2011 Rather than taking another long VIP bus to Vientiane we decided to take the kayaking trip to break up the day. Our trip started with a large tuk tuk ride for an hour to be followed by an alleged 17km kayak through rapids with a BBQ lunch by river followed by a mini bus journey into centre of Vientiane. The kayaking part of the journey was much shorter than expect

Vang Vieng 89 Feb 2011
Tuesday 8th February 2011 Our VIP bus was anything but unless you count the VIP written in big letters on the front. You could easily be fooled into thinking it was just a local bus with very little leg room and no facilities. After a very long journey winding up and down mountain roads we checked into Nazim Guest House which had been recommended online and walked to the top of Pha Po
Am See
Amazing People Amazing Experiences Dariece
sorry not very many pictures for this blog entryThe 6am bus ride from Dakla to Asyut was uneventful we were both super tired and slept for 4 hours out of the 7 hour ride. I was rudely awoken by my head banging against the window over and over again...the roads here aren't exactly pothole free. I looked over and saw Nick with his mouth wide open and head bobbing around also...the most attra

April Fool’s Day
Dear Blog ReadersIts April Fools Day and as a collective I was mightily impressed with the students today in their endeavours to truly live up to the days namesake. My first class was 32 and I marched straight into the classroom to find nobody there and everybodys gym kit on the desks. Damn. I went into the neighbouring classroom to find my actual 32 class sat in the 33 classroom
Walking with hill tribes
I started this morning off by heading to the street market by the guesthouse to rustle up some breakfast. It wasn't that much of a hassle to go in search of food before my 8.30am pick up. The stalls were a stones throw away and I couldn't complain that it wasn't included as I was only paying 100baht 2 a night for my dorm room. I managed to find some fruit and chicken to keep me going till lunc

Crossing the Mekong
This morning was a 7am start so that I had enough time for a TRX workout on the balcony of the hostel. I did get a few funny looks as I sweated it out in the glorious morning sun it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day. With the prospect of being in transit to Laos for twenty two hours in what I was expecting to be a small cramped minivan I thought it best to expend some energy. I gra
Steamy South
It's been fairly quiet here at team Chris and Alice. We made our way from the heat of Mysore the traditional home of one of the most powerful rulers of Southern India and the Indian Food science and technology college they wouldn't let me in on the weekend to Ooty. In the Nilligiri Hills to the south. This was a welcome release from the heat as Ooty is a little over 2000m above sea level not
5 day race
With a sigh of relief I threw my bag down on the dark Galacian granite of the plaza laid on the sunwarmed ground and watched the shadows march down the cathedral spires as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. Warm Dry Greetings from SantiagoAfter 550 kilometers just under 350 miles more blisters than I care to count and almost three weeks I am in Santiago de Compostela. I had planned my
9 weeks down
Another week bites the dust Luckily we're about to enter week 10 as I have to admit I'm pretty tired and am looking forward to the end of term.Nothing much to report I'm afraid there was a bye at netball and nothing else exciting happened. Life just rolled on by.This is why I was very glad to be invited on a 'Broome shopping trip' by some other teachers from the District high school. We set off
Sunset on the Mekong
The bus pulled into Luang Prabang bus station at 5.45am two hours ahead of schedule. I'd probably got about four hours sleep in the night but felt surprisingly chipper as we greeted by the usual mob of tuc tuc drivers. Although the prospect of killing three hours before check in didn't fill me with joy I was glad to get off of the bus and leave my green faced friend behind. The seven of us piled
Copan Roatan
Het is 6u30 en ik voel het. We wandelen enkele blokken naar het busstation. Ik moet me vooruit slepen.
