Day 25 Auxerre to Auxonne

Waking early we set off to explore Auxerre and found some neat little streets and alleys. Like many places we have been to there is much reconstruction going on both on the buildings and the streets. Finally leaving Auxerre we headed south again deciding against going to Dijon and instead going past some 30kms to a little village called Auxonne a commune in the Cted'Or department in Bourgogne

Day 26 Auxonne to Annecy

Leaving this quaint town we headed to Annecy to meet a friend of Pams for dinner fondue if you please. The one thing we have found with our trusty Tomtom is that it will take you usually through the center of a town making a bloody drama at times because some city streets we not made with camper vans in mind and meeting crazy French drivers coming the other way can be daunting. The distance we

Last leg of the Journey Oh So Sad

Its now 31st March and I am laying in bed typing this. Its so sad that its now soon to end we cant believe how the time has flown and we have had a ball and still are doing except for the counting down Although having said that we are looking forward to seeing all our mates and family again soon but would prefer it if they could come here rather than us back to reality.Phuket

Day 27 Annecy

Off to explore the old town this morning and what a lovely old town it is located on the northern shores of a huge mountain lake there are little alleyways ducking and diving all over the place with shops set back into deep doorways and cafes every second shop. There are little canals running through the whole area with buildings built right up to the edge almost what we expect Venice to be like.

It was fun but rained a lot.. booo. It was really hard to find a job there too partly because of the rain a lot of the area relies on tourism and with the rain the floods etc all happening this year there wasn't too muc

Day 28 Annency to BeauvoirenRoyans

Taking our leave from our dear friends Christian and Christine we decided to do a circuit of the lake and head to photograph the old Chateau on the eastern side of the lake before heading south again the chateau was closed but still an imposing sight from the lane below. After fueling up it was off into the hills winding steeply up the Col de Plaimpalais we lunched in the alps and what a stunni

Bocas Del Toro

The excitement of the first night in Bocas Del Toro situated on an island called Isla Colon consisted of going to the cash machine to get some money spending it on food in the supermarket which I then cooked in the hostel kitchen and ate before chilling in the communal area while listening to the Reggae music blasting from the speakers. What an busy bee I am When I went to bed the music wa

curing wanderlust…

Their grandfather called them the ‘Gold Dust Twins’ when they were younger. Unclear of the meaning then, Evan and Mike (first cousins, by the way) discovered later on that it meant “two people working together productively”. With that definition in mind, both have quit their jobs and are now curing their wanderlust side by side.

Both Andrea and John were seasoned travelers when they met, and eventually married. They ‘settled down’, spending four years in one place. Wanderlust struck again and now they have embarked upon a round the world journey. They share their stories plus those of other travelers they have met along their way.

From Bad to Worse to Worserer

It is always a bad start to a day when you wake up in the morning and the sun is shining. Now this might not conform to most people's ideas of a bad day but when you purposefully change your travel plans for a day on the beach and it rains the sun is a bad sight on the day that you are leaving. It was in this bright sunny manner thato probably the worst day of our traveling adventure to date s

Organising the trip is part of the fun

A bit more about My Czech Beer Festival trip.I always think that planning a trip is almost as much fun as the trip itselfIn my younger days this was done by getting guide booksreading up on various places watching geography and history programmes on TV or just getting a map out and looking at what was in an area. The international youth hostel hand book was the bible of the independant travell

We really hoped that the train would be late but the Lakswahdeep Express arrived at Margao right on schedule at the ungodly hour of 340am. We killed the next three hours relaxing among the unwashed masses at the station before venturing out to find a tuk tuk. We accepted the drivers recommendation of a hotel in Colva and stayed at Casa Roiz for the next two days nice hotel very quiet a bal

Jerusalem

JerusalemMarch 23 2011I first heard in one of those crammed dusty sellalittlebitofeverything Old City shops. The kind where you wonder how they amassed all these items especially that large ancient discolored menorah hanging from the ceiling. Would not a little less clutter and maybe a little polish help move some of this inventory The shopkeepers were speaking in Hebrew. It was somethin

She

It is strange that from time to time the people you meet can rock you hard. She was standing at the LGBT centre in Paris. I knew that the day was dedicated to her cause. I found myself back in my upmost primitive me scrutinying her from feet to hair. I feel realy sorry for that. It must have been a very unpleasant experience for her. Gosh I could not believe it. I was startled and in disbilief. H

Travelling again…

So Lottie is let loose again and off on her travels. This time to deepest darkest Peru land of Paddington Bear llamas and Inca Lords The flight from Norwich provided a great start just a little taxi ride and Im there none of this hours of hellish driving round the M25 to contend with. Then off to Amsterdams Shipol airport for a transfer to my flight to Lima. Shipol airport was a surprise
