New Liberty Feasibility Study confirms strong financial returns

TSX: AUE AIM: AUE

TORONTO , Oct. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Aureus Mining Inc. ("Aureus" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the results of its NI43-101 compliant Feasibility Study ("FS") for its New Liberty Project in Liberia ("New Liberty" or "the Project"). The FS outlines an economically viable and robust gold project based on an average gold price of US$1,400/oz. New Liberty will be Liberia's first commercial gold mine and Aureus' first mine in its highly prospective 546km2 total licence area.

The main conclusions from the FS demonstrate a pre-tax IRR of 37% at an average gold price of US$1,400/oz, average annual production of 120,000oz per annum over the first four years at 3.7g/t head grade, with initial capital costs of US$140m.

In completing the FS Aureus was assisted by AMC Consultants (UK) Limited ("AMC"), DRA Mineral Projects (Pty) Ltd ("DRA"), MDS Ltd ("MDS"), Golder Associates Ghana Ltd ("Golder") and Digby Wells (Pty) Ltd ("Digby Wells"). The FS has been completed to within a 10% cost accuracy based on firm tenders received from suppliers and contractors.

Key highlights of the FS include:

David Reading , Chief Executive Officer of Aureus, commented:

"We are delighted to be able to announce the results from the New Liberty Feasibility Study, which clearly illustrates the technical and financial robustness of the Project. This is a major milestone for the Company and Liberia , as New Liberty will become the country's first commercial gold mine. This will not only generate wealth for Liberia and Aureus' shareholders, but also provide significant employment and the opportunity for ancillary businesses in Grand Cape Mount County, western Liberia ."

"We believe we are still capable of improving the robust economics of the Project further through a number of initiatives. These opportunities include conversion of Inferred Resources through drilling and optimizing infrastructure, plant layout and conditions for gold recovery. Once this work is complete we intend to move quickly to mine building and production phases."

"Aureus Mining remains on track to fulfil its objectives set out during its listing in April 2011: to bring New Liberty into production quickly, to become the first commercial gold mine in Liberia and invest the consequent cash flow into developing the high potential of the remainder of the licence area, with Aureus growing organically into a west African focussed mid-tier gold producer."

A presentation for investors and analysts will take place at 9:00am BST on Monday 1 October 2012 at the office of Buchanan at 107 Cheapside, London , EC2V 6DN. Participation will also be available by webcast or conference call with the following details:

Harris Corporation Introduces Liberty-Radio Control Equipment for Air Traffic Control Communications

WASHINGTON & GATINEAU, QC, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Harris Corporation (HRS), an international communications and information technology company, is introducing its Liberty-Radio Control Equipment (RCE) a flexible gateway product that provides aviation authorities with the next generation of integrated radio control, network routing, and circuit adaptation solutions. The announcement was made during the 57th Annual Air Traffic Control Association Conference and Exposition being held October 1-3 at the Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center in Washington, DC.

Capable of emulating any radio link and broadcasting it over a variety of transmission mediums, the Liberty-RCE will enable communications in harsh conditions and in isolated environments where digital service is typically scarce and reliance on legacy links and older analog technology is still required.

The Liberty-RCE is capable of totally reshaping a network and offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing fluctuations in network traffic and demands on operations to be easily managed. The system allows for the operation and compression of up to six radios per chassis into a single 64 kbps link. The Liberty-RCE supports Split Site Operations as well as Dual Control Site Operations whereby frequencies from two voice communication control system (VCCS) sites (local or remote) can simultaneously access the same radio resources.

A commercial-off-the-shelf device, the Liberty-RCE was specifically engineered to multiplex voice and data signals transmitted between air traffic control (ATC) facilities and deployed radios over satellite, traditional telecommunications links, or newer topologies like Internet Protocol (IP). The Liberty-RCE will facilitate the transmission of data services including digital voice, legacy analog voice, SatCom, datalink, ADS-B, TIS-B, FIS-B, and is interoperable with any brand of VCCS or ATC radio.

The Liberty-RCEs compact 3U chassis offers a sophisticated, fully redundant architecture that ensures system reliability and offers exceptionally high availability to meet any critical communications requirement. The system is also configured with redundant power supplies that can operate in AC or a combination of AC/DC.

Harris Liberty-RCE provides authorities with an opportunity to take advantage of their existing infrastructure by extending investments made and allowing them to ease into new technologies at their own pace and as network standards evolve, said John O'Sullivan, vice president, Mission Critical Networks, Harris Government Communications Systems. Whether deployed in a network operations center or in a remote location, the Liberty-RCE provides aviation authorities with a cost-effective, scalable and highly reliable communications solution.

Recently, the Liberty-RCE was selected by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an interim solution after they encountered technical issues operating legacy RCE while deploying a remote air/ground communications facility on the oil platform Independence Hub in the Gulf of Mexico.

Liberty Gold Corp. Reports On International Tower Hill's New High-Grade Gold Intercepts On Adjoining Livengood Property

PHOENIX, Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty Gold Corp. (OTCBB: LBGO; "Liberty Gold" and/or "the Company") is pleased to report on International Tower Hill's (ITH) August 21, 2012 announcement of new, high-grade gold intercepts surrounding ITH's main deposit at its Livengood Gold Project in Alaska. ITH's Livengood Property immediately adjoins the western side of Liberty Gold's 4,620-acre McCord Creek Property. The Money Knob deposit on ITH's Livengood Property represents a resource estimate of 16.5 million ounces (Moz) Measured & Indicated at 0.22 grams per tonne cut-off (see ITH website for complete disclosure), making it one of the largest gold deposits discovered in 20 years.

The latest ITH drill results were from a non-exploration directed drill program involving 45 geotechnical and condemnation drill holes in the Livengood project area. According to ITH's August 21, 2012 news release, assay results from four of the holes drilled returned multi-gram gold intersections (intercepts were calculated using a 0.25 g/t gold cutoff and a maximum of 3 meters of internal waste). ITH stressed that, since the new gold intersections are located well outboard of the main deposit, the results indicated the significant exploration potential of the Livengood district scale gold system while highlighting the potential for further bulk tonnage and high-grade discoveries on the property. ITH Interim CEO, Jeff Pontius, commented in the news release: "It is clear that the Livengood gold system is a District scale gold discovery with significant future potential."

Liberty Center One Embarks on Expansion Project

ROYAL OAK, Mich., Oct. 1, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Liberty Center One, a provider of high availability hosting services announces an expansion of its data center floor capacity. "Customer demand is out-pacing the amount of space we have available today" says President/CEO Rex Smith. "Our expansion plans at our Michigan data center will take advantage of the same core infrastructure which has provided high availability services in a high density environment to our present customers."

Liberty Center One opened its doors in 2008 in an effort to provide enterprise-level colocation services to customers accustomed to a high availability infrastructure and tight security controls.

"We saw a position in the market for data centers that catered to enterprises that had purpose built, captive data rooms in the past," says Tim Mullahy, Managing Director.

Many corporate IT managers would like to take advantage of the affordable cost model provided by colocation facilities, but finding an appropriate site that provides the same level of security, resiliency and availability that would be found in a "captive" facility is not a simple task.

"Many commercial data centers were built at old telco sites or were in multi-tenant spaces that would not be attractive to major financial services, healthcare and manufacturing entities, says Mullahy. "We toured some sites without UPS battery back-up, some with only one carrier and others that were attached to high traffic businesses that could be considered security risks. We built Liberty with features that corporate entities and other organizations with high availability and stringent security requirements would use if they were building their own facilities."

Liberty Center One's new 4,000 square foot floor space will take advantage of the core features of the hosting facility including:

"We continue to invest in our critical infrastructure to support all of our customers," says Rex Smith, President/CEO. "Our affordable business structure allows for small and medium sized businesses to take advantage of our robust, high availability infrastructure. We tell customers that they don't have to have a top ten budget to have top ten data protection."

Liberty's success has been derived from a wide range of customers of all sizes. Besides worldwide manufacturing and financial services customers, the Liberty client roster also includes Michigan-based businesses as well as others from locations as diverse as Georgia, Texas, West Virginia, California and Nuernberg, Germany. Several customers from outside of the region use Liberty as their disaster recovery site due to Michigan's natural disaster-free history.

"The diversity of customer applications we support at Liberty is truly remarkable," says Pat Turner, Liberty's CTO. "We have customers running worldwide Learning Management Systems with streaming video, building management systems, ERP systems for multiple plants in remote locations, healthcare records management and local e-marketing. Each customer's unique needs are important and that's what makes us different. We custom fit our services to each customer's individuality. It's a challenge, but it's important to us for our customers to get what they want."

The projected availability of the new data room is December 1, 2012 and progress can be tracked through Liberty's blog: http://libertycenterone.com/blog.

Citi analyst boosts Liberty Media rating to "Buy"

NEW YORK (AP) A Citi analyst on Tuesday raised his rating for Liberty Media Corp. to "Buy" from "Neutral," predicting that the company will soon take control of Sirius XM Radio Inc.

Jason Bazinet, who also backed his "Buy" rating for Sirius XM, noted that over the past few months Liberty has spent $1.4 billion to boost its stake in the satellite radio broadcaster to from 40 percent to 49.6 percent. He added that he expects the company to cross the 50 percent line later this year.

Once Liberty Media has a 50 percent stake in Sirius, Bazinet said it's likely that Sirius will begin a $3 billion stock buyback program that will allow Liberty to largely recoup its $1.4 billion investment while keeping a 50 percent stake in Sirius.

Meanwhile, Bazinet expects Sirius' stock should rise to $3 per share over the next 12 months, boosting value for Liberty. In light of that, Bazinet boosted Sirius' price target by 50 cents to $3 and Liberty's by $27 to $121.

The Englewood, Colo.-based conglomerate controlled by cable TV magnate John Malone saved Sirius from near-bankruptcy in 2009 by agreeing to lend it up to $530 million in exchange for preferred stock.

This year, Liberty has been steadily increasing its ownership of Sirius as part of its plans to take control of the company.

In premarket trading, Sirius shares rose 7 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $2.63, while Liberty shares were unchanged at $104.77.

Liberty eliminated from playoffs

It was a short playoff run for the Liberty.

Tina Charles had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Kara Lawson scored 15 points all on 3s, including two late in the fourth quarter as the Connecticut Sun closed with a 14-0 run to beat the Liberty 75-62 on Saturday night at the Prudential Center to advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

I had some looks in the second half and I was missing them. I dont usually miss those, Lawson said. I kept telling them on the bench theres one coming. I didnt know there were two coming.

Cappie Pondexter scored 20 points to lead the Liberty.

They are a great team and played well all year, Pondexter said. Tina, the MVP of the league, played outstanding. Asjha made key buckets in the third quarter that gave them a run.

Lawson hit a 3 with 3:58 left start the Suns game-ending run. She was fouled and converted the free throw for the four-point play that put the Sun ahead for good, 65-62.

Plenette Pierson had just rallied the Liberty from a five-point deficit, scoring with 4:20 left to put the Liberty ahead 62-61.

After Jones hit a jumper with just under three minutes remaining to push Connecticuts advantage to six, Lawson made another 3 to make it 70-62.

Asjha Jones scored 18 points to help the Sun complete the two-game sweep.

When it was time to step up all of the best players stepped up tonight, Connecticut coach Mike Thibault said. Our three All-Star players stepped up. It was terrific, but we had great performances from a lot of people. It was as ugly start that you can get that nobody would like to watch, but one of the best things about this team is we hung in there on the road.

Liberty Plaza: Experts say rethinking ways to get more people into park is more important than redesigning it

While Ann Arbor city officials begin to consider a redesign of Liberty Plaza, experts point to the areas outside the parks boundaries as catalysts for the plaza's improvement.

Mayor John Hieftje told AnnArbor.com there are plans in the works to redesign the park, including potentially bringing the park up to street level instead of having a two-tiered sunken design. While the changes may bring some improvements, experts believe the areas right around the park play a bigger role in any future improvement.

Amy Kuras, the citys park planner, said the development around any urban space is what determines the success or failure of the space. Kuras said the immediate area around Liberty Plaza the Liberty Square building and the Kempf House is not a foot traffic generator. Whether the new underground Library Lot, and whatever development eventually is built atop it, changes the number of pedestrians at the corner remains to be seen.

Without establishments bringing in different groups of people, Liberty Plaza becomes a spot with a crowd of regulars who may not look kindly on outsiders, according to Kuras.

I would love to see it used more by all kinds of people, Kuras said. How we arrive at that, Im not sure what the answer is at this point. Its not just changing the configuration of the park.

Kuras compared Liberty Plaza to Sculpture Plaza, another concrete plaza at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Catherine Street. She said one of the reasons Sculpture Plaza has become a successful and popular area is because of the restaurants and shops that draw customers who utilize the space.

Kirk Westphal, an Ann Arbor documentarian who studied the city from a pedestrians point of view for a masters degree in urban planning, said Sculpture Plaza is the ideal situation thanks to the businesses surrounding it.

Liberty Plaza has what Westphal calls a key ingredient to success: Foot traffic along Liberty Street. However, there are not enough people actually going into the plaza.

Any urban space that lacks foot traffic through it can be problematic, and the key is getting a diversity of users, Westphal said. Its not about keeping unemployed people out, its about making sure there are enough people in total using the space.

When the park was completed in 1978, there was a restaurant in the 330 E. Liberty St. building next door, along with a book store in the bottom floor. Kuras said this brought more foot traffic into the plaza, but there were still problems from the start.

Indians' balance another reason for 8-0-0 start

Liberty goalkeeper Julian Spina makes a save during their game against Tuxedo on Thursday.CHET GORDON/Times Herald-Record

By WILLIAM MONTGOMERY

LIBERTY Through the first eight games of the season, the Liberty boys' soccer team isn't lacking for offensive firepower.

Freshman striker Gustavo Romero (14 goals, three assists) and senior midfielder Pedro Garcia (nine goals, 13 assists) are tied for first place atop the Section 9 scoring list with 31 points apiece.

Liberty improved to 8-0-0 with a 3-2 overtime victory Thursday at Tuxedo, but the reason for the Indians' success doesn't lie in the pursuit of scoring records. In fact, head coach Debbie Simpson has tried to instill the opposite message in her players: it doesn't matter who scores.

"We don't care who's leading the team in goals or assists," she said. "We're just working the ball down the field. Their goal is to win games, not to see who has the most goals."

"She's right. It really doesn't matter," said senior defender Christopher Symanski. "I'm pretty sure almost everyone on the team has scored a goal, even the goalie."

Of the 20 players on the roster, 17 have recorded at least one goal or one assist, including starting goalkeeper Julian Spina, who has two goals to his credit. Since Liberty has outscored opponents by a 49-7 margin so far, Spina has gotten some time in the field as reserve goalkeeper Ignacio Feijo gains experience in net.

Fourth quarter blitz leads Liberty Hill to a big win over Wimberley

With the help of its defense and special teams, Liberty Hill turned a boxing match into a track meet on Friday night.

Will Fromme rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns and Liberty Hill blew open a close game in the fourth quarter of a 46-24 win over Wimberley.

Fridays game featured two teams that have won four state championships over the past seven seasons. Wimberley won the Class 3A, Division I championship in 2005 and the Class 3A, Division II title in 2011 while Liberty Hill won back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007.

Thats the state championship last year, Liberty Hill senior Kyle Marshall said. We got them in the bag. That gives us a lot of confidence.

Liberty Hill (4-1) had scored at least 60 points in two of its last three games but it was its defense that led the way in the first half on Friday.

A 22-yard field goal from Albertano Avila gave Wimberley a 3-0 lead in the second quarter and the Texans were poised to take a double-digit lead on their next drive.

But Marshall stripped Wimberley quarterback Colton Cerday inside the Liberty Hill 5 and the defensive back returned the football to the Texan 20. Four plays later, Fromme gave Liberty Hill a 6-3 lead with a nine-yard touchdown run.

Wimberley would get close to the Liberty Hill endzone again but the Texans final drive of the first half ended with a missed field goal. The Texans reached the Liberty Hill 10 on three of their drives in the first half but the Panthers still went into halftime with a three-point lead.

It brought the team a lot of energy, Marshall said of his forced fumble. That was a big game-changer.

Both team scored a touchdown in the third quarter but Liberty Hill grabbed a 19-10 lead on Jesse Perezs 16-yard touchdown run on the first play of the final quarter.

Sun-Liberty Preview

League MVP Tina Charles just led the Connecticut Sun to their first playoff win in four years. Star Cappie Pondexter likely needs to answer with a bounce-back effort if the New York Liberty are to avoid a second straight first-round exit.

As Charles and the top-seeded Sun try to earn a spot in the Eastern Conference finals, Pondexter and the Liberty look to keep their season alive by tying this series Saturday night.

Charles was named the WNBA Most Valuable Player earlier Thursday and received the honor that night before helping Connecticut win Game 1 of this semifinal series. She scored a game-high 17 points and blocked four shots in the 65-60 home win.

"I got a (personal) achievement, and we got the first playoff win," Charles said. "Now we have to build on that."

It was the Sun's first postseason victory since beating the Liberty in 2008, though New York won that series. Connecticut was swept in the opening round last year in Charles' first playoff appearance after failing to qualify for the previous two postseasons.

"This group has never won a playoff game so we'll take the win," coach Mike Thibault said. "It's exciting for them, but we're gonna have to play a whole lot better on Saturday to win there. ... Hopefully the first-game jitters are over."

Another win Saturday would send the Sun to their first East finals since 2006, though they would also have a chance to do so back home Monday night.

Pondexter advanced at least that far in three of her first five seasons with New York but now is at risk of falling in the opening round for a second consecutive year. The seven-year veteran, who placed seventh in this season's MVP voting, had 14 points Thursday but shot 3 for 16 as the Liberty hit 26.0 percent from the field.

"This may have been the worst playoff game I ever played," said Pondexter, who averaged 20.4 points during the regular season. "I didn't play smart basketball at all."

The only time she scored at least 20 in six matchups with Connecticut this season was in the Liberty's lone victory, 79-66 on Aug. 16 in the Sun's most recent visit to the Prudential Center. Charles was held to four and shot 1 of 7 in that game, but she scored no fewer than 17 in the other five meetings.

Liberty Plaza: City leaders look for ways to end crime, vagrancy issues at park

. Families have been drawn there by performances put on by the Ann Arbor District Library.

But this urban park in downtown Ann Arbor has earned a reputation that contrasts sharply with images of people relaxing at a summertime concert and children enjoying a library program.

Public drinking, drug use and fights arent rare occurrences in the concrete park at the southwest corner of Division and Liberty streets. Set a few steps down from the sidewalk, the two-tiered park has gained a less-than-flattering reputation since it first opened to public use in 1978.

The park has off and on been a problem for years, said John Teeter, property manager at First Martin Corp., the company that built and still maintains the park. Its a wonderful park when theres programming. ... When theres legitimate users in the park visiting, its wonderful.

He pointed to the Thursday Sonic Lunch concerts, sponsored by Bank of Ann Arbor as an example of programming that works. But often, the park doesn't work well, he said.

When you have people drinking, doing drugs, defecating and urinating near buildings or harassing someone trying to eat lunch, its a detriment to the area, he added.

Teeter said Liberty Plaza has had cycles of criminal activities over the years, giving the place a reputation as a hangout for vagrants that may drive other residents away. But, those who use it have cultivated their own community. Many who regularly visit the park play chess, loan money to each other and engage in lively discussions.

Roughly 20 people milled about Liberty Plaza on a recent afternoon and nearly all of them greeted each other with smiles, handshakes and warm words. Some were quietly eating their lunch in the early afternoon sunshine while others skateboarded around benches and trees. The scene was a far cry from Teeters worst-case scenario of people being driven away by unruly park users.

People down here are cool, man, said Jacob Dorsten, a homeless man hanging out in the park. Ive never seen any trouble here.

Liberty Silver Doubles in Value and Trades over $20 Million Shares in September

PLANTATION, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Renowned and respected investment advisor and founder of Midas Letter (www.midalsletter.com), a subscriber-driven private investment strategy newsletter, James West, has recently reported his overview of the Trinity Silver Project, a Liberty Silver Corp. (LSL.TO) (OTCBB:LBSV) endeavor.

The Trinity Silver Project is located 25 miles northwest of Lovelock, Nevada (Pershing County) and shares its geographical location with major gold and silver producers including one of the largest silver mines in the United States, the Rochester silver mine owned by Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation, which produced 125 million ounces of silver from 1986 to 2010 and has an estimated 120 million silver ounces in reserves.

As reported by West at http://www.midasletter.com, In the month of September so far, the company has traded over 20 million shares and doubled in value. Silver itself has traded in a similar trajectory, increasing in value by 35% since mid-summer, and outperforming gold smartly. The most respected and experienced traders in precious metals fully expect the ratio of how many ounces of silver it takes to buy one ounce of gold to head towards 16:1 from its current level of over 50:1. That would imply a silver value of $110 per ounce.

If Liberty Silver shares continue to trade at such a high beta to the silver futures price, the premium being awarded Liberty Silver could be substantial, adds West.

Liberty Silver Corp is an advanced stage junior silver mining company focused on developing its flagship property the Trinity Silver Project comprised of 10,600 acres including 5,700 acres of fee land and 240 unpatented mining claims. The Trinity property, previously mined and operated by US Borax, produced 5 million ounces of silver from 1.1 million tons of ore from its open pit oxide resource from 1987 to 1989; mining ceased when sulfide mineralization was encountered in the bottom of the pit and metal prices were too low to support mining the sulfide resource.

Historical drilling and production data, recent surveys and drilling results, as well as independent research reveals the property has potential resources of approximately 120m silver equivalent ounces between the Trinity property and the adjacent Hi Ho silver property of which Liberty recently entered into a mineral rights agreement with.

West cites Liberty Silvers caliber of management and board of directors as a key to the projects success with leadership from Geoffrey Brown, Chairman & CEO, former head of private equity at Merrill Lynch Canada; Bill Tafuri, President, bringing 40 years of diverse mining and exploration experience with such companies as Getty Mining Co., Kennecott Corp. and Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corp.; Paul Haggis, an icon in Canadian business circles as Chairman of Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd, C.A. Bancorp Inc., a Canadian merchant bank and alternative asset manager and Alberta Enterprise Corporation, a venture capital fund overseeing $100 million for early-stage ventures; and the backing of legendary entrepreneur Bobby Genovese, Chairman of BG Capital Group (a venture capital and private equity firm based in Barbados with offices throughout North America with assets of more than $200 million) as one of the biggest shareholders of Liberty Silver Corp. For more information on BG Capital Group visit http://www.bgcpapitalgroup.com.

James West is the portfolio advisor to the Midas Letter Opportunity Fund and an investment advisor to institutional investors and high net worth family offices with expertise in investing in commodities, real estate and energy, and providing access to early stage opportunities to public companies who explore for and produce such commodities. He has spent more than 20 years working in capacities such as corporate finance advisor, corporate development officer, investor relations officer, media relations and business development officer for companies involved in mining, oil and gas, alternative fuels, healthcare, internet technology, transportation, manufacturing, and housing construction. Liberty notes: Flames welcome bye week

When Liberty was trying to put together its football schedule last winter, the original plan was to schedule a game for Sept. 29 and leave Oct. 20 as an open date, giving the Flames a bye week in the middle of their conference schedule.

Athletics director Jeff Barber struggled to find a taker for a Sept. 29 home game, though, and eventually, the school scheduled Division II Concord on Oct. 20 and moved the open date to the end of September.

After the four-week gauntlet Liberty has faced out of the gates, featuring an FBS opponent, three teams ranked in the various FCS polls and a 2,300-mile road trip to Montana, the schedule change could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

I think so, Liberty coach Turner Gill said. It works out pretty well.

Both the Flames and Gardner-Webb, Libertys opponent for its Big South opener on Oct. 6, will have next week off after facing an extremely difficult four-game non-league stretch. GWU opened with games against Wofford, Richmond, Samford and Pittsburgh.

Its going to work out well for us, Gill said. Every team has bumps and bruises, and its going to be a good time for us to regroup after this ballgame and be ready to go in conference play.

Liberty City Village plans need revamping

When first hearing about the Liberty City Transit Hub (now Village), there was anticipation that the site where this project is to be placed would potentially showcase a unique mix of increased commercial activity coupled with public transportation and other amenities.

Yet, even against the focused opposition of local business owners and community residents, county officials are still pushing what is essentially just another mega housing project that is sorely inappropriate for this specific commercial location.

Whats still very curious is that the word transit is still featured as part of this projects name.

And the Carver signage featured in the rendering, which may or may not be included in the final product, doesnt disguise what is really being proposed.

What county officials continue to ignore, with specific disregard to socially sensitive areas like Liberty City, is the direct correlation between how the built environment is developed and its longstanding impact on the areas social and resultant economic potential.

The social aspects the much too frequent and severe criminal behavior have a clear, yet unspoken, psychological root.

Unemployment issues arent lost in this equation as these issues have a direct bearing on the communitys psyche as well.

The degree of sensitivity to which the built environment is developed can assist in foundationally remedying many of these ills, if given proper exploration.

Given the complexity of this sites context, the tangible and intangible issues surrounding this site and area, housing shouldnt be its focus.

Housing projects, new and not so new, are already peppered in abundance throughout the area with no real balance of creative amenity that the overall area beckons.
