MANCHESTER - It's been nearly two years since two local inventors debuted an ATM designed to dispense bitcoins, a form of virtual currency that exists only on the Internet.
Visitors to the New Hampshire Liberty Forum in Nashua in February 2013 got a peek at the bitcoin ATM, invented in Manchester by brothers Zach and Josh Harvey.
Lamassu, the company they created to produce and market the machines, is now about to launch the first two-way bitcoin ATM, which will convert bitcoin into currency.
Up to this date, machines have only taken currency and issued bitcoin.
"In two weeks, we'll debut our cash-out machine," said Zach Harvey. "It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the field. I still think the cash-to-bitcoin will be more popular. But sometime, you like the idea of getting some cash for your bitcoin."
Harvey, who still runs the business with his brother out of their Manchester apartment, used the example of a traveler at an airport anxious to get currency from the country in which he has just landed.
You can't physically hold a bitcoin in your hand. The dollar value of the bitcoin, whatever it may be at that moment, is credited to your bitcoin wallet online, which can be used to pay for transactions with any merchant that honors bitcoin.
The new ATMs will enable bitcoin owners to convert some of the values in their bitcoin wallet to hard cash in the currency of whatever country they happen to be in at the time.
The Lamassu machines have found their way into retail, hospitality and entertainment venues around the world.
"We now have machines in 40 countries," said Harvey. "And they use the language of the country they are in. We have machines in German, French, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic and Chinese."

November 29, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL) Utica Comets The Utica Comets saw their two-game win streak vanish after a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Albany Devils Saturday afternoon at the Times Union Center.
Will Acton scored his first goal while donning the Comets sweater and recorded his third point in three games. Joe Cannata started in net for the Comets for the first time this season stopping 22 of the 24 shots he faced from the Devils.
It was a pretty tame game up until the tail end of the second period when the Albany Devils found their first goal of the night at 15:38. After a rush into the offensive zone, Graham Black wristed a shot on Cannata which beat him far glove-side for the 1-0 lead. Brandon Burlon was credited with the only assist on the play.
The Comets answered right back just 54 seconds later with their only goal of the night. Brandon DeFazio and Will Acton both entered the attacking zone with the intent to score. A hashmark to hashmark feed gave Acton the opportunity to fire a shot on net. The shot went well wide and bounced hard off of the back boards, ricocheted off of the back of Keith Kinkaid's glove, and directly into the Devils net.
Things turned sour for the Comets in the third period as Darren Archibald took a five minute major penalty, and a 10-minute misconduct for charging at the 8:41 mark.
Hardly three minutes later, the Devils found the game-winner on a power-play goal after a pass from Mike Sislo that gave Joe Whitney a slapshot opportunity to the right of Cannata. Whitney buried the puck for the 2-1 final decision. Brandon Burlon tallied his second assist of the game.
The Utica hockey club will have a couple days of rest before they head back on the road for three-game road trip. The Comets will first visit the Oklahoma City Thunder for an 8 p.m. ET match-up in what will be their first of two meeting this year.

The quality of the Canberra first-grade cricket competition is declining as a result of Cricket Australia's guidelines as to how Cricket ACT selects the ACT Comets team.
Just three players from the Canberra competition - a record low - are in the Comets line-up for Monday's four-day Futures League match against Tasmania at Manuka Oval.
Players will be given the option of sitting out the game or attending the funeral of Phillip Hughes on Wednesday, while a replacement or rest day is also being considered.
Eastlake batsman Michael Spaseski has been dropped from the Comets team after struggling for runs in the previous two Futures League games and one-day fixtures against Ireland and Afghanistan.

Spaseski had no issue with his non-selection given his failure to score runs for the Comets this summer, despite scoring 470 runs for Eastlake at an average of 78.33.
"I don't think the selectors look at the club cricket as closely as they used to," Spaseski said.
"The standard is getting worse around Canberra, so the clubs aren't too much of a selecting point for them, that's purely just because of the standard dropping in the last few years.
"It's moved towards the Comets aren't going to pick anyone who is playing in Canberra.

A decade ago, a dream team of researchers from Pittsburgh to South Korea claimed a medical invention that promised to reshape a culture war.
The scientists said they custom-designed stem cells from cloned human embryos. The scientific breakthrough was celebrated around the globe.
Then the bottom fell out.
A scandal erupted over fabricated data, and University of Pittsburgh biologist Gerald Schatten was forced to pull back the findings. Critics cast the 2004 discovery as a farce, a high-profile fraud that forced the journal Science into a rare retraction in January 2006.
Eight years later, the push to use stem cells as a medical treatment continues, but scholars balk at the suggestion that anyone is trying to make genetically identical individuals.
We're not here to clone human beings, for gosh sakes, said John Gearhart, a stem cell researcher and University of Pennsylvania professor in regenerative medicine. Instead, he said, scholars are working to manipulate stem cells to produce heart cells for cardiac patients, brain cells for neurological patients and other custom transplants that could match a person's genetic makeup.
Schatten's work continues at the Magee-Womens Research Institute at Pitt, where university officials cleared him of scientific misconduct, and he remains a vice chairman for research development. He focuses on educating and training physician-scientists and other scientists, a school spokeswoman wrote in a statement. She said Schatten was traveling and was unable to speak with the Tribune-Review.
Researchers have turned the onetime myth of developing stem cells into reality.
At the Oregon Health and Science University, researchers succeeded by blending unfertilized human eggs with body tissue to mold stem cells. Scholars say the cells could let doctors grow customized organs for transplants and other therapies.
The approach engineered by biologist Shoukhrat Mitalipov's research team last year in Portland is among two that scientists are using to forge laboratory-made stem cells the so-called master cells that can transform into other body parts without relying on donated human embryos. Federal law tightly controls the use of taxpayer money for embryonic research.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) Huntsville's space community is hosting events this week to mark the first flight test of the United States' newest spacecraft.
An unmanned Orion spacecraft is scheduled to launch atop a Delta IV rocket at Cape Canaveral on Thursday.
NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville will hold a tour for a group of social media users to discuss the Orion flight on Wednesday.
On the day of the flight, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center will open the theater in its Davidson Center for live viewing of the launch, flight and splashdown.
Future plans call for the Orion space capsule to carry four astronauts atop NASA's new Space Launch system rocket, which is being managed at the Marshall center in Huntsville.
The test flight will last just over four hours.
