Cris "Cyborg" Justino Gets Vulgar with Ronda Rousey's Mother

Jeff Chiu/Associated Press

For years, UFC women's bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and Invicta FC featherweight linchpin Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino have engaged in a heated war of words.

The feud has run so deep that it spawned another series of argumentsbetween Cyborg and Rousey's mother, AnnMaria De Mars. Now, after months of verbal jousting, the duo recently brought their quarrel to a boiling point.

Cyborg delivered the latest blow in her back-and-forth dispute with De Mars with this NSFW post through her account onThe Underground, a discussion board for MMA enthusiasts:

Honda mom look like Kim Kardashian mom. She give interview for what? She want to be TMZ superstar? I missed weight 1 time in 10 years. I dont know where she read this but I can guarantee I make 140lbs.Cat Zingano was world Champion 125 before going up in weight to test herself, same thing Pacquiao is doing against Mayweather. Honda would rather fight girls she know she can beat in the first round because the last time she challenge herself she only take home a Bronze medal. Maybe we can ask Dana to give the loser of our fight a medal so she feel better about herself.

In another portion of her post, Cyborg predicted that if she ever got her opportunity against Rousey, the night would end with De Mars crying in the crowd.

I dont need my mom to give interview about how I will break some movie stars nose! Honda look p---y. Before she talk about me but now she quiet and her mom defend her. Everybody knows the time is coming. Ms. Housey please sit front row our fight and you will cry. Watch Joanna Jedrzejczyk last fight this is perfect example of how To stop takedown. I dont want your belt, I want your soul. #ChampionVsChampion.

The always vocal De Mars, who is the first American to capture a gold medal at the World Judo Championships, has thrown verbal jabs at Cyborg on numerous occasions.

Minutes after Rousey defended her bantamweight belt for the fifth straight time at UFC 184, De Mars once again voiced her opinion on the debate of whether or not Rousey should meet Cyborg at a catchweight above 135 pounds.

Maybe Cyborg should cut 10 pounds if she thinks she's so good, because you know what? I cut weight all the time. I won the U.S. National Championships at 48 kilos, which is 106 pounds, and I won it at 56 kilos, which is 123 pounds. So don't give me that bulls--t about, 'I couldn't have babies if I cut weight,' because I had four of them.

North East beaches see wave of wet wipes littering region's coastline

A new cleaning fad is threatening to wipe out progress in the drive to reduce litter on North East beaches.

Wet wipes are littering beaches, including those in the region, as more people choose to use the moist cloths to remove make-up, replace traditional toilet paper, apply fake tan or for general bathroom cleaning.

According to the latest beach litter data collected by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) and published on Thursday in its Great British Beach Clean report, numbers of wet wipes found on beaches increased by over 50% in a year.

The rise in the number of wipes on beaches between 2013 and 2014 equates to 35 of the little squares on every kilometre of coastline cleaned by the charitys volunteers.

Nationally during the weekend-long event last September, 5,349 volunteers cleaned and surveyed over 300 beaches.

A total of 2,457 pieces of litter were collected for every kilometre cleaned and surveyed in 2014 compared to 2,309 in 2013.

In County Durham the figure was 11,488 and in Northumberland 912. On the two Tyne and Wear beaches surveyed, the figure for Tynemouth Longsands was 910 items per km and for Sandhaven in South Shields it was 97.

MCS Beachwatch officer, Charlotte Coombes, said that the problem is that wipes are being put down the loo instead of in the bin. She said: Our sewerage systems werent built to cope with wet wipes. When flushed they dont disintegrate like toilet paper, and they typically contain plastic so once they reach the sea, they last for a very long time.

They can cause blockages in our sewers, and then, everything else that has been flushed down the loo can either back up into peoples homes, or overflow into rivers and the sea.

Overflows also happen during excessive rainfall, or if the plumbing hasnt been connected up properly meaning the wrong pipes are heading straight to the sea.

Solar eclipse set to darken the sky over Ireland on Friday morning

People have a chance tomorrow to see a rare phenomenon of nature as a near-total eclipse of the sun tracks across Ireland. It will become noticeably cooler, and sunlight will dim as up to 95 per cent of the sun will be blocked out by the moon.

It is a fantastic spectacle of nature and we wont see another eclipse like this until 2026,said David Moore, editor of Astronomy Ireland magazine. It is a very rare event and people are always fascinated about natural events.

Doubt remains over the weather, however, with overcast skies possibly taking some of the excitement out of the eclipse. A weak cold front will be coming down from the north, possibly making prospects a bit disappointing for Friday, said Evelyn Cusack of Met ireann.

There is bound to be some cloud in the sky but we are hoping the front breaks up as it moves down, she said. This could mean better viewing across the south coast.

A solar eclipse occurs when the orbiting moon passes in front of the sun to blot out the sunlight. In this case between 91 and 95 per cent of the solar disc will be blocked for Irish viewers and we will be under the shadow cast by the moon.

All of the island of Ireland will be affected, with the eclipse beginning at about 8.30am, reaching a maximum at about 9.30am and then moving away until the shadow departs by 10.30am.

The centre of the shadow will be further north over the Atlantic, but our experience of the eclipse will still be worth seeing, said Prof Peter Gallagher, a solar physicist at Trinity College Dublin. It will get quite dark. You will see Venus appear in the morning sky by around 9.30am to the left of the sun, he said.

It is highly dangerous to look at the sun directly and the Association of Optometrists has urged the public to exercise caution if attempting to view the eclipse.

Will Smart Machines Make Us Stupid? AI Experts Weigh In

Society stands at a crossroads of artificial intelligence: We can design computers that sharpen our wits or we can let our machines turn us into ignoramuses. That observation capped a provocative panelon Tuesday at Austins South By Southwest conference.

Increasingly intelligent machines search engines that yield knowledge on demand, smartphones that understand plain English, computers that proffer medical diagnoses, ad tech that offers to sell you just what youre looking for represent a tipping point, said Doug Lenat, a former Stanford and Carnegie Mellon computer science professor who is CEO of Cycorp, a maker of machine reasoning software. We could become smarter or dumber muchsmarter ormuchdumber.

Electronic calculators, Lenat argued during the panel entitled AI State of the Union, have created generations of students who can perform mathematical tasks very quickly but dont understand the underlying concepts. Similarly, Google swaddles users in a blanket of instant information, relieving them of the burden of independent thought and inquiry. The next wave of artificial intelligence loosely defined as a computers ability to distinguish between useful and useless information at any given moment could propel us irrevocably down that path.

This could lead to Idiocracy, Lenat said, referring to the 2006 Hollywood satire about a future in which human intellect has taken a steep dive. The result would be a society where no one has to understand anything about the world, where everything just seems like magic.

Alternatively, he said, computer scientists could design artificial intelligence to challenge us the way Aristotle challenged Alexander the Great, to make us smarter, more rational, more human, to understand the world more deeply.

AI lately has taken a turn from digital smarts based on rules (furry faces with whiskers and triangular ears are cats) toward those based on recognizing patterns (some online pictures have certain similarities, and the word cat in the caption may mean theyre cats), the panelists agreed. The latest advance, known as deep learning, is based on decades-old technology that became practical only in recent years, as greater processing power has enabled computers to achieve higher orders of learning and vast accumulations of data on the Internet have given them enough training to draw relevant conclusions.

The shift could be viewed as a transition from left-brain thinking based on logic to right-brain thinking based on intuition. Both modes will be necessary to further advances in AI, yet the brain devotes far more time to intuitive than rational thinking, pointed out Monica Anderson, CEO of Syntience and a specialist in artificial intuition.

Reasoning is the sugar on top of intuitive understanding, Anderson said.

The key challenge will be getting computers to recognize context, the panelists said. Humans have little problem recognizing biases introduced by politics or limitations due to outdated information, but machines are blind to contexts they havent been specifically programmed to recognize.

One answer is to design AI that asks clarifying questions, said Fred Brown, CEO of Next IT Corp, which builds virtual assistant technology. Geeks want machines that do things without asking, he said. But what makes good AI is good communication with the user.
