Wisconsin’s 12 best beaches

Wisconsin may never replace the Florida Keys or the blue-water beaches of the Caribbean as a vacation destination. Still, with two Great Lakes and more than 15,000 smaller ones, the Badger State has some real beach gemsfrom hard-to-find clear-water quarry ponds to hard-to-miss rough-water adventures with waves so big you can hear the surf thunder.

With more than 3,300 feet of beaches, Devils Lake is the most-visited state park in Wisconsin. Facilities: restrooms, changing facilities, picnic areas, concessions stands, grills. State fees. S5975 Park Rd., Baraboo; (608) 356-8301.

Six miles of soft, white sand along Lake Michigan make this an ideal beach for sunbathing and swimming. The beach also features the 113-foot Rawley Point lighthouse, which is not open for tours but can be photographed from outside. Facilities:restrooms, concessions, playground, volleyball courts. State fees. 9400 County Hwy. O, Two Rivers; (920) 794-7480. Note:Due to high water levels on Lake Michigan, the beach at this state forest is significantly smaller than in years past.

Named one of the 51 best beaches in the country by USAToday in 2012, North Beach stretches along 1.2 miles of Lake Michigan and has been designated a Blue Wave Beach, a certification for its commitment to responsible beach management practices. Facilities:restrooms, concessions, Kid's Cove Playground. 89 Kewaunee St., Racine.

The 500-foot beach along the northwest shore of Madisons Lake Mendota has calm waters and a gradual slope, making it a great family beach. Theres even a dog beach. Facilities: restrooms, playground. State fees. 5140 County Hwy. M, Waunakee; (608) 831-3005.

The water off this 1.5-mile beach on Lake Superior stays brisk into July (though its often warmed up by September). Go for it if you have polar bear blood and love a rustic lifestyle. Facilities: pit toilets, picnic areas, drinking water. State fees. 141 S. Third St., Bayfield; (715) 747-6425.

This sandy beach on a clear-water lake in the middle of Hartman Creek State Park is near Waupacas Chain O Lakes. The calm, shallow water makes it family-friendly. Facilities: pit toilets, changing facilities, concessions stand. State fees. N2480 Hartman Creek Rd., Waupaca; (715) 258-2372.

Wind-swept and expansive with miles of sandy beaches and dunes this big-water beach on Lake Michigan can be a little dangerous for small children (but a favorite for surfers). Facilities: restrooms, changing facilities, picnic tables, concessions stands, grills. State fees. 1020 Beach Park Lane, Sheboygan; (920) 451-4080. Note:Due to high water levels on Lake Michigan, the beach at this state forest is significantly smaller than in years past.

Nicolet Beach on the Green Bay side of the Door peninsula has clear, calm waters and 800 feet of sand. Facilities: restrooms, showers, picnic area, playground, concessions stands, kayak rentals. State fees. 9462 Shore Rd., Fish Creek; (920) 868-3258.

Located down a short dirt road, this Lake Michigan beach is an unknown, uncrowded gem. Soft sand and a shallow slope make this a terrific family beach. Facilities: picnic area. No fees. Lake Forest Park Rd., Sturgeon Bay; (920) 743-4456.

This underutilized beach sits beside a 4,500-plus-acre recreation area where you can hike, camp and enjoy a full slate of scheduled activities. Facilities: handicapped access, restrooms, changing facilities, play equipment. State fees. 26313 Burlington Rd., Kansasville; (262) 878-5600.

This Lake Michigan beach, just south of Jacksonport, offers miles of terrific sand and dunes, though the water can be cold even in summer, and rip currents make swimming dangerous. Facilities: handicapped access, pit toilets. State fees. 3275 Clark Lake Rd. (County Hwy. WD), Sturgeon Bay; (920) 823-2400.

Ideal for families with small children, this Waukesha County Park beach is just 17 miles from downtown Milwaukee. Facilities: restrooms, picnic tables, state-of-the-art playground equipment, concessions stand with indoor seating. Fees: $4/car. Annual rates: $28 residents, $38 nonresidents. 2925 N. Naga-Waukee Park Beach Hartland

Located on picturesque Nagawicka Lake, Naga-Waukee Park offers 130 feet of sandy beach, a beach house with restrooms, and a great concession stand. The 414 acre park also features an 18-hole golf course, 8 miles of trails, and endless opportunities for fun. All just 25 miles west of Milwaukee!

Firemans Park and Swimming Beach Elkhart Lake

With a great sandy beach and crystal clear water, Firemans Beach is one of the best in the state. This fun park features a concession stand, picnic tables, grills, sand volleyball courts and shelters for rent. All for a bargain gate admission of $3 for adults and $1 for those under 12.

Friendship Lake Public Beach Friendship

Lions Beach Janesville

Memorial Park Shell Lake

Hattie Sherwood Campground Green Lake

Keyes Lake Park Florence

With its crystal clear waters and world-class fishing, Keyes Lake Park is a true Northwoods treasure. The park itself features picnic facilities, a sandy beach, swimmers raft, and a water slide.

Shawano Lake County Park Shawano

Known far and wide as a great swimming beach, Shawano Lake County Park is just an hour drive from Green Bay, Appleton, and Wausau. Swim in the calm refreshing water, or rent a canoe and paddle boat to explore with a little more speed.

Micro and Nano Engineering encompasses fabrication, characterization, design and modeling of small structures and devices, and their integration into engineered systems. When dimensions shrink unique properties can result such that the fundamentals of thermo-physical processes deviate from traditional macroscopic behavior.

The Mission of the Group is to create new engineering knowledge and products at the nano- and microscale. The focus of efforts is to explore new nano- and micromanufacturing methods and new material and system properties enabled by nano- and microscale phenomena, educate students about micro- and nanotechnology and identify important problems that can benefit from micro- and nanoengineering.

The research interests of the group are broad including thermal and physical properties of nanostructures (e.g., nanowires, nanotubes, nanoparticles etc.), scalable nanomanufacturing, sensors, fuel cells, thermoelectrics, power systems, microscale medical ultrasound imaging systems, CMOS-MEMS integration, wireless MEMS devices, acoustic and opto-acoustic sensors, nanomechanical devices, biosensors, microfluidics, thermal management of electronics, ion sources for mass spectrometry and scanning probes, and focused electron beam induced deposition for additive nanomanufacturing.

Laboratory facilities include electrochemical synthesis and characterization, chemical vapor deposition, transient and steady-state thermal metrology, RAMAN microscope, impedance spectroscopy, nanoporous materials characterization, Agilent fast GC, Parylene deposition system, sensor characterization tools and AFM microscopes.

Many faculty in the group have joint appointments in the School of Biomedical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and in the Petit Institute of Bioengineering and Biosciences.

Il libertarianismo[1] (chiamato anche, impropriamente, libertarismo, termine che identifica una differente e pi ampia ideologia) un insieme di filosofie politiche tra loro correlate che considerano la libert come il pi alto fine politico.[2] Ci include la libert individuale[3], la libert politica e l'associazione volontaria. Le parole libertarianism e libertarism furono usate dalla seconda met del XX secolo da filosofi e politici anglosassoni che provenivano da differenti formazioni culturali (talvolta anche contrapposte): ossia quelle del liberalismo, socialismo, comunismo[4][5][6][7] e dell'anarchismo.

L'idea politica del libertarismo si rif al sistema economico capitalista e al diritto alla propriet privata, ma le sue numerose correnti divergono sul peso e sulla stessa figura dello Stato: gli anarco-capitalisti premono per una sua totale eliminazione, mentre i miniarchisti mirano a preservare un'autorit pubblica che svolga compiti basilari di difesa e ordine pubblico, o anche una ridotta assistenza sociale.[8]

In lingua inglese, i termini libertarism e libertarianism sono utilizzati come sinonimi nell'uso politico, per la precisione libertarism indica quasi invariabilmente il movimento collettivista, o left libertarianism, mentre libertarianism pu indicare sia il movimento anarchico che i partiti di stampo liberale.[senzafonte] Nella maggior parte delle altre lingue ad esempio neolatine si distingue tra libertarismo, un concetto ampio sinonimo di anarchia[9], che in quanto tale si identifica con l'anarchismo e il socialismo libertario, e libertarianismo, che trae le sue origini dal liberalismo classico[1], le cui correnti principali sono l'anarco-capitalismo e il miniarchismo.

I libertariani si definiscono di solito come liberali coerenti, rigorosi e nemici della coercizione, propugnando in modo radicale le tesi tipiche del liberalismo.[10]

Due sono i filoni pi diffusi del libertarianismo:

I miniarchisti prospettano uno Stato ridotto alla minima funzione di garante delle libert individuali, ovvero lo stato di diritto; questa corrente costituzionalista si rifa evidentemente ai pensatori originali del liberalismo, per esempio John Locke, e in tempi pi recenti a intellettuali del calibro di Friedrich Von Hayek e Robert Nozick. Per i sostenitori del miniarchismo lo Stato tenuto a intervenire in economia, in linea di massima, solo per garantire un corretto svolgimento del libero mercato, abbattendo i monopoli e gli oligopoli (qualora questi siano venuti in essere violando i diritti individuali) e costruendo le necessarie e ovvie infrastrutture.

Gli anarco-capitalisti giudicano le proposte del miniarchismo incoerenti dal punto di vista teorico e irrealizzabili sul piano concreto, proponendo invece l'abolizione dello Stato e la realizzazione di un sistema di privatopie, entit territoriali auto-organizzate nei limiti delle libert individuali in grado di fornire servizi di libero mercato, sviluppantesi secondo un sistema di adesione volontaria alle regole che ogni enclave stabilisce autonomamente. Il sistema delle privatopie esclude a priori l'esistenza di nazioni e soprattutto entit sovranazionali, ammettendo unicamente la diffusione di una capillare e interattiva rete di piccole comunit private. Il principale punto di riferimento intellettuale della corrente anarco-capitalista Murray Newton Rothbard.

All'interno di questa visione radicale, i libertariani anarcocapitalisti intendono privatizzare, o meglio porre su un mercato libero, quei settori come l'amministrazione della giustizia, la sicurezza e l'ordine pubblico che perfino i liberali classici considerano alla stregua di prerogative esclusive dello Stato; in questo senso va letta la loro idea di anarco-individualismo.

La filosofia politica ed economica contemporanea stenta a riconoscere la validit delle teorie libertariane, non tanto per l'opposizione alla gestione privatizzata e concorrenziale di settori fondamentali dello stato sociale come la giurisdizione, quanto per il fondato timore che in un assetto socio-economico cos definito, privo di qualsivoglia governo centrale, una congrega ristretta di individui molto potenti sia tentata di imporre coercitivamente la propria autorit al resto della comunit; in pratica, il sistema anarco-capitalista sarebbe non auspicabile perch tenderebbe a favorire, nel momento stesso in cui venisse implementato, quei pochissimi soggetti che gi dispongono di un notevole potere finanziario (multinazionali, banche d'investimento, lobby industriali etc.). Lo stato di diritto invece, essendo, quanto meno nelle sue forme pi avanzate, basato sul sistema democratico della decisione politica, tenderebbe invece a contrastare la concentrazione del potere nelle mani di esigui gruppi privilegiati, dal momento che, qualunque sia la politica economica di una comunit, la maggior parte degli individui di quella stessa comunit ha interesse a difendere le gi ristrette risorse e propriet di cui dispone a fronte della soverchiante ricchezza di pochi soggetti. Uno degli oppositori pi spietati dell'anarco-capitalismo Noam Chomsky, il quale, da socialista libertario come egli stesso si definito, ha affermato che le idee libertariane, qualora applicate al mondo reale della politica, produrrebbero "tali forme di tirannia e oppressione come se ne sono viste poche nella storia dell'umanit".

I libertariani, d'altro canto, rigettano totalmente le accuse che vengono loro rivolte indistintamente dagli altri schieramenti politici, sia conservatori che progressisti, argomentando che in tutta la storia della civilt umana, se proprio vi un colpevole di violazione dei diritti umani, questi soprattutto lo Stato. E infatti proprio il potere astratto e non vincolante dell'autorit statale stato il principale mezzo con cui piccoli gruppi di potere o addirittura singoli individui hanno potuto, in tutti i tempi e in tutti i luoghi, realizzare forme di governo tiranniche, soverchianti e contrarie alle pi elementari regole di pacifica convivenza civile, o reiterare arbitrariamente la violazione del diritto di autodeterminazione di ogni essere umano, tra cui, al netto dell'evidenza, vi sono gli interventi armati contro altre popolazioni, minoranze o addirittura nazioni, sistematicamente portate avanti in nome di uno specifico ordine sociale da raggiungere e da imporre a tutti, o in nome di una generica sicurezza e stabilit nazionale.

Laddove quindi i tradizionali sostenitori dello Stato, inclusi i liberali classici, vedono in questo un'alta e possibilmente equa autorit garante dei diritti individuali, senza il quale sarebbe impossibile contenere lo spirito egoistico umano, che in un contesto anarchico non avrebbe freni n argini per manifestarsi, invece i libertariani pongono maggior fiducia nello spirito filiale dell'umanit, rammentando che le stesse idee di libert e uguaglianza sono nate dal basso, ovvero sono sorte spontaneamente dalla creativit mentale dei singoli, e non certo imposte dall'alto per "decreto intellettuale" da una presunta autorit garante della ragione. Il libero mercato, dunque, essendo per l'appunto una manifestazione spontanea e originale dello spirito di cooperazione umano, da intendere come la volont organica e orizzontale di una comunit di individui di determinare, ognuno per s stesso, il corso della propria vita, vivrebbe per necessit di autoregolazione, che nella visione libertariana viene chiamata anche "propriet di se stessi" o principio di non aggressione.

Gli anarchici di tradizione socialista usano il termine libertario per descrivere se stessi e le loro idee sin dal 1857. "Le Libertaire, Journal du Mouvement sociale", fu ad esempio pubblicato a New York dal 1858 al 1861 dal rivoluzionario anarcocomunista Joseph Dejacque[11]. Nella seconda met del 1900, negli Stati Uniti d'America, fece ingresso l'accezione liberal-libertaria, in genere indicata come libertarianism, ma, a volte libertarism. Il termine libertarianism, specificamente, nel 1970 rientrer in Europa per le traduzioni dell'economista francese Henri Lepage, con l'intenzione d'evitare evidenti fraintendimenti.

Le parole libertarismo e libertario furono quindi usate dalla seconda met del XX secolo da filosofi e politici anglosassoni che provenivano da differenti contrapposte formazioni culturali, e quindi, principalmente in lingua inglese, tali termini attualmente indicano movimenti culturali e politici che pur definendosi in traduzione italiana libertari sono assolutamente in antitesi tra loro. Filosofi e politici definiti libertari sono quindi in diverse tradizioni culturali ossia quelle del liberalismo, socialismo, comunismo e anarchismo: quest'ultimo movimento politico-sociale ha poi adottato il termine libertarismo appunto per autodefinirsi[12].

Negli anni settanta del XX secolo nasce negli Usa un partito politico che raccoglie una lunga storia di antistatalismo di taglio liberale e che si autodefinisce libertarian, il Libertarian Party, quindi utilizzando il termine in senso proprio, senza rispettare n i crismi anarchici della tradizione socialista, n, dunque, quelli libertari intesi nel senso europeo del termine.

Il Partito Libertariano degli Stati Uniti d'America, (LP) dall'11 dicembre 1971, data della sua fondazione, costantemente cresciuto, venendo a ricadere, utilizzando un termine innumerario, tra i terzi partiti ovvero tra i partiti minori che distaccati di diversi ordini di grandezza dai primi due, sono comunque presenti seppure a livello di decimali di milione. (Constitution Party, Green Party, Libertarian Party). Per le presidenziali del 2004 si posizionato sui 0.2 milioni di cittadini affiliati (Democratic 72.00, Republican 55.00, Indipendent 42.00, Constitution 0.37, Green 0.31, Libertarian 0.20). Nelle elezioni del 2008 il candidato libertarian con 532995 voti, lo 0,40% di preferenze, si aggiudicato la quarta posizione.

Si caratterizza per il forte antistatalismo, la volont di escludere qualunque intervento statale in campo di Welfare State in particolare nel campo della salute pubblica (abolizione di ogni forma di assistenza sanitaria universale garantita), e l'abolizione di ogni forma di tassazione generalista (corrispondente all'IVA italiana).

Da alcuni decenni, questo termine usato soprattutto per definire, in senso pi ampio, quelle teorie che danno preminenza alla scelta individuale davanti alle pretese di qualunque potere politico.

Il movimento mostra sensibilit verso la protezione della propriet e della libert di mercato ed uso comune definire "libertarianism" (e spesso anche "propertarianism", per distinguerlo maggiormente dal libertarismo di matrice anarchica tradizionale e socialista) la corrente anarco-capitalista, cio la versione pi estrema del pensiero liberale, la quale ha trovato la propria espressione pi significativa in Murray N. Rothbard.

Tale "libertarianism" affonda le sue radici nella tradizione dell'individualismo americano professando l'idea di un mercato completamente sottratto ad ogni tutela statale, che lasci l'individuo padrone di s in ogni aspetto della vita dell'individuo, inclusi i servizi di protezione, la giustizia e il diritto. La maggioranza dei suoi teorici sono fautori del giusnaturalismo lockiano, ma esiste anche una variante utilitarista (David Friedman). In Europa i massimi esponenti di tale teoria politica sono Hans-Hermann Hoppe e Anthony de Jasay.

Esistono in seno al movimento libertariano americano ed europeo una variet[13][14][15][16][17] di tendenze:

I libertariani, sia europei che americani, giudicano contraddittoria con le premesse antistataliste la tradizionale avversione degli anarchici di tradizione socialista (es. Bakunin, Kropotkin, Malatesta, Chomsky, ecc.) ad ogni idea di un libero mercato basato sulla legittimit della propriet privata, sullo scambio volontario e su interazioni umane liberamente scelte.

A causa dei problemi semantici sopra evidenziati, l'uso dei termini "libertario/libertarismo" per indicare l'anarchismo classico, e dei termini "libertariano/libertarianismo" per indicare l'anarco-capitalismo, praticamente ovunque diffuso, tranne che nei paesi di lingua inglese. L'affinit dei due termini in ogni caso, rende frequente la necessit di disambiguazione.

Tra i movimenti che si rifanno alle ideologie libertariane ma che non viene da molti ritenuto propriamente libertarian si ritrova anche il movimento politico statunitense Libertarian National Socialist Green Party (LNSGP) della corrente nazional-libertariana verde, una organizzazione dalla dubbia reale esistenza[18] (non legata al Libertarian Party) che coltiva elementi di libertarianismo in un retroterra culturale e ideologico nazional-conservatore e ambientalista, improntando il suo programma alla difesa dell'identit nazionale e delle "esigenze ambientali", considerando comunque una degenerazione le tendenze di supremazia razziale tipiche del white power.

RFLP (often pronounced "rif lip", as if it were a word) is a method used by molecular biologists to follow a particular sequence of DNA as it is passed on to other cells. RFLPs can be used in many different settings to accomplish different objectives.

Each organism inherits its DNA from its parents. Since DNA is replicated with each generation, any given sequence can be passed on to the next generation. swimming – Missouri State Parks

Whether it's hanging out in a quiet lake cove, exploring one of Missouris pristine Ozark rivers or plopping in a pool, state parks offer swimming experiences that the entirefamily can enjoy.

Four parks Bennett Spring, Big Lake, Roaring River and Washington have public swimming pools, while others have sand beaches.

The parks located on big impounded lakes offer some of the Midwests top water recreation. Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Wappapello, Long Branch, Pomme de Terre, Stockton, Harry S Truman, Table Rockand Mark Twain state parks all have large lakes perfect for swimming, boating and fishing.

Crowder State Park has swimming in its 18-acre lake and Cuivre River State Park offers swimming in Lake Lincoln. Finger Lakes, Lewis and Clark, St. Joe, Trail of Tears, Thousand Hills, Wakonda and Watkins Mill also are state parks with smaller lakes for swimming. Several of the lakes have sand beaches.

Clear, spring-fed Ozark rivers are great for cooling off in the hot summer months.

Big Creek is a lovely little stream that runs through Sam A. Baker State Park and thecampground is next to a gravel bar along the creek.

Meramec and Onondaga Cave state parks are located along the Meramec River. St. Francois and Washington state parks are on Big River.

One of the states premier swimming holes is at Johnsons Shut-Ins State Park, where the Black River has carved out chutes and pools in the ancient rock of the namesake shut-ins area.

Victor incapper poi in una nuova alleanza di eroi, i Giovani Titani, messi insieme dall'empate Raven per fermare il suo demoniaco padre Trigon. Unitosi al gruppo, Victor ne diventer un membro a tutti gli effetti, aiutando la squadra in numerose occasioni, e arrivando nel tempo a sviluppare un legame quasi familiare con tutti i membri. Preso il nome di battaglia di Cyborg, stringer anche una forte amicizia con Beast Boy, con Sarah Simms, un'insegnante la cui classe era composta da bambini con protesi (e che per questo lo ammirano pi di ogni altro eroe), e con la dottoressa Sarah Charles, che lo aiuter a potenziare il suo corpo. Sarah inizier anche una relazione con Victor, che verr per interrotta bruscamente quando l'ex membro dei Titani noto come Jericho far saltare in aria Cyborg su un missile.

Verr poi recuperato dai Laboratori S.T.A.R. e ricostruito pi come macchina che come uomo. In seguito ad un viaggio nello spazio, riacquister l'uso della parola e riprender anche la sua relazione con Sarah. In seguito verr rivelato che Victor era stato aiutato da una razza aliena meccanica senziente chiamata Technis, nata dall'arrivo dell'elementale della terra Swamp Thing su un pianeta meccanico. Per mantenere la sua mente e la sua sanit, Cyborg si fonder con i Technis, viaggiando con loro nello spazio per insegnargli l'umanit. La fusione con gli alieni aumenter a dismisura i poteri di Victor, che si trasformer in una sorta di semidio tecnorganico noto come Cyberion. Tale fusione per annuller la coscienza di Victor, che rester dormiente all'interno della programmazione dei Technis.

Volendo compagnia, il subconscio di Victor costruir una base sulla Luna, e inizier a rapire ogni singolo membro dei Titani, che sistemer in camere virtuale dove ogni membro aveva il suo pi grande sogno realizzato. In seguito, la Lega della Giustizia arriver sul posto per indagare, e decider di uccidere Technis, mentre i Titani vorranno salvare quello che restava di Victor. Beast Boy riuscir a far rinsavire l'amico, la cui coscienza sar cos scaricata all'interno di un nuovo corpo formato dall'armatura futura nota come Omegadrone. Cyborg si ritrover cos ad essere totalmente macchina in un corpo dorato mutaforma che lo rendeva estremamente potente, ma ci lo far dubitare della sua umanit.

Dopo qualche tempo, Nightwing riveler di essere riuscito a clonare un nuovo corpo per Victor e questi riuscir a fondere il suo corpo robotico con il clone. Cyborg potr cos passare da una forma umana, ad una forma robotica uguale a quella originale, ma dorata e dotata di tutti gli stessi poteri dell'Omegadrone. Victor perder questi poteri dopo essersi trasferito a Central City, e rifonder i Giovani Titani. Cyborg sar poi reclutato da Donna Troy, vecchia compagna di squadra e nuova guardiana del multiverso per fermare l'evento cosmico noto come Crisi Infinita. Nello spazio per Victor esploder e rester offline per un anno intero. Al suo risveglio incontrer un nuovo gruppo di Titani, ed in breve tempo riprender il suo ruolo di consigliere spirituale del gruppo. Victor prover poi ad espandere il gruppo con una filiale sulla costa Est, ma verr fermato da un attacco a sorpresa del demone Trigon. Cyborg in seguito si unir alla Lega della Giustizia, stringendo amicizia con Red Tornado.

Nell'universo DC post-reboot. Cyborg diventa uno dei membri fondatori della nuova Justice League.

Elementi importanti del personaggio, a differenza di altri supereroi, sono l'aspetto e le abilit della sua parte meccanica simile ad una potente armatura esoscheletrica costantemente aggiornata, migliorata e modificata. Tale parte del corpo meccanica e migliorata e assemblata dallo stesso Cyborg, costituita da una matrice allineata molecolarmente di ferro, oro, titanio e altre leghe in misura minore (favorendo sia i movimenti che le capacit difensive); inoltre viene alimentata da una combinazione di convertitori solari, batterie elettriche e un generatore interno a particelle beta, sebbene possa assorbire e riconvertire anche altre forme d'energia.

Cyborg possiede superforza, semi-invulnerabilit, e la capacit di introdursi in qualsiasi computer; i suoi arti (soprattutto le braccia) possono essere controllati a distanza e muoversi autonomamente. La resistenza a vari tipi di colpi caratterizzata dal fatto che parti del suo corpo sono fatte in titanio. Cyborg con la sua forza in grado di mettere in seria difficolt anche esseri potenti come Superman o Aquaman.

Nel suo corpo sono installate varie armi, varie tipologie di missili, piccoli cannoni repulsori e mitragliatrici. La pi importante delle armi sicuramente il braccio destro indistruttibile che si pu trasformare in un cannone sonico in grado di sciogliere l'acciaio. Nel suo cervello inserito un computer superpotente che si pu interfacciare con altri sistemi operativi e il suo occhio sinistro gli dona vari gradi di visione dello spettro luminoso.

Inoltre un genio della robotica, infatti nella torre dei Titani sempre stato lui ad occuparsi dell'attrezzatura tecnologica e della costruzione dei veicoli, e soprattutto, del suo corpo robotico. Victor inoltre un buon combattente nel corpo a corpo e un abile stratega, riuscendo a coniugare forza e intelligenza durante le sue battaglie.

Cyborg dispone di una profonda conoscenza nei campi della matematica, della chimica, dell'informatica e della meccanica quantistica, cosa che lo porta a scoprire e migliorare costantemente nuove tecnologie.

Cyborg come tutti i suoi compagni dei Giovani Titani, stato addestrato da Dick Grayson nel combattimento, ci lo ha reso un buon combattente nel corpo a corpo.

Molecular Biomarkers

Molecular Biomarker is a measurable indicator of the severity or presence of some disease state. More generally a biomarker is anything that can be used as an indicator of a particular disease state or some other physiological state of an organism. DNA marker is a term used to refer to a specific DNA variation between individuals that has been found to be associated with a certain characteristic (e.g., increased tenderness). These different DNA or genetic variants are known as alleles. Agenetic markeris a gene or DNA sequence with a known location on a chromosome that can be used to identify individuals or species. It can be described as a variation (which may arise due to mutation or alteration in the genomic loci) that can be observed and to be discussed in the Molecular Medicine Meetings. A genetic marker may be a short DNA sequence, such as a sequence surrounding a single base-pair change (single nucleotide polymorphism, SNP), or a long one, like mini satellites. Molecular Genomics

Genomics is a discipline in genetics that applies recombinant DNA, DNA sequencingmethods, and bioinformatics to sequence, assemble, and analyse the function and structure of genomes (thecompleteset of DNA within a single cell of an organism). Advances in genomics have triggered a revolution in discovery-based research to understand even the most complex biological systems such as the brain. The field includes efforts to determine the entire DNA sequence of organisms and fine-scale genetic mapping. The field also includes studies of intragenomic phenomena such asheterosis, epistasis,pleiotropyand other interactions between loci and alleles within the genome. In contrast, the investigation of the roles and functions of single genes is a primary focus of molecular biology or genetics and is a common topic of modern medical and biological research. Research of single genes does not fall into the definition of genomics unless the aim of this genetic, pathway, and functional information analysis is to elucidate its effect on, place in, and response to the entire genome's networks.

Cancer Cell Therapy

Cell therapy (also called cellular therapy or cytotherapy) is therapy in which cellular material is injected into a patient; this generally means intact, living cells. For example, T cells capable of fighting cancer cells via cell-mediated immunity may be injected in the course ofimmunotherapy. Cell therapy originated in the nineteenth century when scientists experimented by injecting animal material in an attempt to prevent and treat illness. Although such attempts produced no positive benefit, further research found in the mid twentieth century that human cells could be used to help prevent the human body rejecting transplanted organs, leading in time to successfulbone marrow transplantation.

Nanotechnology: Cancer and Stem Cells

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are cancer cells (found within tumours or haematological cancers) that possess characteristics associated with normal stem cells, specifically the ability to give rise to all cell types found in a particular cancer sample. CSCs are thereforetumorigenic(tumour-forming), perhaps in contrast to othernon-tumorigenic cancer cells. CSCs may generate tumours through the stem cell processes of self-renewal and differentiation into multiple cell types. Such cells are hypothesized to persist in tumours as a distinct population and cause relapse and metastasis by giving rise to new tumours. Therefore, development of specific therapies targeted at CSCs holds hope for improvement of survival and quality of life of cancer patients, especially for patients with metastatic disease.

Stem Cell Treatment

Stem-cell treatment is the use of stem cells to treat or prevent a disease or condition.Bone marrow transplantis the most widely used stem-cell therapy, but some therapies derived from umbilical cord blood are also in use. Research is underway to develop various sources for stem cells, and to apply stem-cell treatments for neurodegenerative diseasesand conditions, diabetes, heart disease, and other conditions. With the ability of scientists to isolate and culture embryonic stem cells, and with scientists' growing ability to create stem cells using somatic cell nuclear transfer and techniques to create inducedpluripotent stem cells, controversy has crept in, both related to abortion politics and to human cloning. Additionally, efforts to market treatments based on transplant of stored umbilical cord blood have been controversial.

Molecular Biomarkers

Molecular Biomarker is a measurable indicator of the severity or presence of some disease state. More generally a biomarker is anything that can be used as an indicator of a particular disease state or some other physiological state of an organism. DNA marker is a term used to refer to a specific DNA variation between individuals that has been found to be associated with a certain characteristic (e.g., increased tenderness). These different DNA or genetic variants are known as alleles. Agenetic markeris a gene or DNA sequence with a known location on a chromosome that can be used to identify individuals or species. It can be described as a variation (which may arise due to mutation or alteration in the genomic loci) that can be observed and to be discussed in the Molecular Medicine Meetings. A genetic marker may be a short DNA sequence, such as a sequence surrounding a single base-pair change (single nucleotide polymorphism, SNP), or a long one, like mini satellites. A DNAmicroarray(also commonly known as DNA chip or biochip) is a collection of microscopic DNA spots attached to a solid surface. Scientists use DNA microarrays to measure the expression levels of large numbers of genes simultaneously or to genotype multiple regions of a genome.

Molecular Genomics

Genomics is a discipline in genetics that applies recombinant DNA, DNA sequencingmethods, and bioinformatics to sequence, assemble, and analyse the function and structure of genomes (thecompleteset of DNA within a single cell of an organism). Advances in genomics have triggered a revolution in discovery-based research to understand even the most complex biological systems such as the brain. The field includes efforts to determine the entire DNA sequence of organisms and fine-scale genetic mapping. The field also includes studies of intragenomic phenomena such asheterosis, epistasis,pleiotropyand other interactions between loci and alleles within the genome. In contrast, the investigation of the roles and functions of single genes is a primary focus of molecular biology or genetics and is a common topic of modern medical and biological research. Research of single genes does not fall into the definition of genomics unless the aim of this genetic, pathway, and functional information analysis is to elucidate its effect on, place in, and response to the entire genome's networks.

Molecular Diagnostics

Molecular diagnostics is a technique used to analysesbiological markersin the genome and proteomethe individual's genetic code and how their cells express their genes as proteinsby applying molecular biology to medical testing. The technique is used to diagnose and monitor disease, detect risk, and decide which therapies will work best for individual patients. By analysing the specifics of the patient and their disease, molecular diagnostics offers the prospect of personalized medicine.Blotting Techniques- Blotting is the technique in which nucleic acids or proteins are immobilized onto a solid support generally nylon or nitrocellulose membranes. Blotting of nucleic acid is the central technique for hybridization studies. Nucleic acid labeling and hybridization on membranes have formed the basis for a range of experimental techniques involving understanding of gene expression, organization, etc.

Cancer immunology is a branch of immunology that studies interactions between the immune system and cancer cells. Cancer Cell Therapy

Cell therapy (also called cellular therapy or cytotherapy) is therapy in which cellular material is injected into a patient; this generally means intact, living cells. For example, T cells capable of fighting cancer cells via cell-mediated immunity may be injected in the course ofimmunotherapy. Cell therapy originated in the nineteenth century when scientists experimented by injecting animal material in an attempt to prevent and treat illness. Although such attempts produced no positive benefit, further research found in the mid twentieth century that human cells could be used to help prevent the human body rejecting transplanted organs, leading in time to successfulbone marrow transplantation.

Learn how to program all the major systems of a robotic car from the leader of Google and Stanford's autonomous driving teams. This class will teach you basic methods in Artificial Intelligence, including: probabilistic inference, planning and search, localization, tracking and control, all with a focus on robotics. Extensive programming examples and assignments will apply these methods in the context of building self-driving cars.

This course is offered as part of the Georgia Tech Masters in Computer Science. The updated course includes a final project, where you must chase a runaway robot that is trying to escape!

This course will teach you probabilistic inference, planning and search, localization, tracking and control, all with a focus on robotics.

At the end of the course, you will leverage what you learned by solving the problem of a runaway robot that you must chase and hunt down!

Success in this course requires some programming experience and some mathematical fluency.

Programming in this course is done in Python. We will use some basic object-oriented concepts to model robot motion and perception. If you dont know Python but have experience with another language, you should be able to pick up the syntax fairly quickly. If you have no programming experience, you should consider taking Udacitys Introduction to Computer Science course before attempting this one.

The math used will be centered on probability and linear algebra. You dont need to be an expert in either, but some familiarity with concepts in probability (e.g. probabilities must add to one, conditional probability, and Bayes rule) will be extremely helpful. It is possible to learn these concepts during the course, but it will take more work. Knowledge of linear algebra, while helpful, is not required.

Sebastian Thrun is a Research Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, a Google Fellow, a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the German Academy of Sciences. Thrun is best known for his research in robotics and machine learning, specifically his work with self-driving cars.
