Bitcoin Cash, Tron (TRX), BNB, LTC & EOS Could Continue To …

Bitcoin cash, litecoin, tron (TRX), binance coin (BNB) and EOS are setting up the next break. The crypto market remains supported and dips in bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and ripple remain well bid.

Bitcoin cash price was the best performer in the top 10 coin as it broke the $300 resistance level against the US Dollar. The BCH/USD pair even broke the $320 level and traded close to the $350 resistance. Recently, it started a downside correction and declined sharply below the $300 level.

However, the $275-280 support is acting as a strong buy zone. Therefore, the price is likely to bounce back as long as there is no close below the $275 support area.

EOS price settled above the $5.00 and $5.10 support levels. The price is currently consolidating above the $5.15 level and it seems like it could trade above the $5.20 and $5.30 levels. The next stop could be $5.40, above which the price may climb towards the $5.75 and $5.80 levels.

Tron price is trading nicely and it recently gained more than 5%. TRX price recently broke the $0.0265 and $0.0270 resistance levels to move into an uptrend. If buyers remain in action, there are chances of more gains above the $0.0280 and $0.0295 resistance levels in the coming sessions.

Binance coin (BNB) spiked towards the $20.00 resistance level, but it could not gain pace above $20.00. BNB is currently consolidating above the $19.00 level and it seems to be preparing for the next wave. If there is an upside break above $20.00, there could be a sharp rally towards the $22.00 level. If not, the price may decline to $17.50.

Looking at the total cryptocurrency market cap hourly chart, there was a downside correction from the $178.0B and $180.0B resistance levels. The market cap declined below the $170.0B level, but the $158.0B level acted as a strong support. It represents the 50% Fib retracement level of the last wave from the $136.8B low to $178.3B high. Therefore, as long as the market cap is above $157.6B level, there could be a fresh increase in bitcoin, ETH, TRX, LTC, EOS, BNB, ripple, ADA, XLM, WAN, BCH, XMR and other altcoins in the near term.

Bitcoin Cash Has Nearly Doubled Since Monday – forbes.com

Bitcoin cash has rallied this week,outperforming other top cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin cash has surged recently, climbing upwards of 100% since Monday morning and leaving other top cryptocurrencies in the dust.

This digital currency, a fork of the original bitcoin, skyrocketed to $324.57 today,CoinDesk price datareveals.

At this point, it was up roughly 94.4% from its Monday low of$166.93 and 102% year-to-date, additional CoinDesk figures show.

In addition, the digital currency was trading at its highest point since roughly mid-November.

Fundamental Drivers

Some analysts pointed to fundamentals as fueling these gains, including asharp increase in bitcoin cash futures trading on Kraken subsidiary Crypto Facilities, which was reported by CoinDesk earlier this week.

Another factor that was cited as potentially pushing bitcoin cash higher was the launch of the digital currency'sSimple Ledger Protocol, which allowsdevelopers to create new tokens that can be traded on bitcoin cash's blockchain.

A third development is the news that website Bitcoin.travel now allows users to book flights using bitcoin cash.

Follow The Leader

However, other market observers provideda different narrative, claiming that bitcoin cash merely followed its digital sibling, the original bitcoin, higher.

"Bitcoin started moving and only then other coins followed," said digital currency investor and trader Marius Rupsys.

In other words, "bitcoin is leading the whole crypto industry."

Lance Morginn, cofounder, chief executive officer and director of digital currency analytics platform Blockchain Intelligence Group, offered a similar perspective.

"Bitcoin is acting as the anchor currency and can be credited for the initial price pop for bitcoin cash," he stated.

"From my perspective, it looks like the traders have hopped on to BCH given its greater momentum, as they can leverage BCH more than BTC."

Tim Enneking,managing director ofDigital Capital Management,also weighed in on bitcoin cash's sharp gains.

"Truth be told, there is probably no rational explanation for a movement of this scale, other than the generalized market upswing and FOMO," he stated.

Sharp gain in bitcoin cash, litecoin, dogecoin, BTC, XLM, ripple and ADA fueled $40.0 billion crypto rally. BTC, XRP and ETH corrected lower recently, but they remain well supported on dips.

Recently, there was a strong upward move in bitcoin cash price above the $200 resistance level against the US Dollar. BCH outperformed every other coin in the top 10 and it almost doubled its price. Buyers even pushed the price above the $300 level and the price tested the $340 level.

Later, there was a sharp downside correction and the price traded below the $320 and $300 support. However, the price remains well supported on the downside near the $290 and $280 levels.

Litecoin also performed really well after it broke the $70 resistance level. It climbed more than 30% and broke the $80 and $90 resistance levels. LTC even traded close to the $100 resistance level and recently corrected lower. It moved below the $90 level, but the $80 and $82 levels are acting as strong supports. As long as the price is above $80, it is likely to bounce back above $90 and $95.

Dogecoin started a strong upward move after forming a support base above the $0.0020 level. DOGE price climbed above the $0.0025 and $0.0030 resistance levels. The recent rally was strong as the price even traded towards the $0.0035 level. A high was formed near $0.00376 level and the price is currently correcting lower. The main supports are near $0.0035 and $0.0032.

EOS price rallied sharply above the $5.20 and $5.50 resistance levels. It tested the $5.80 level and recently corrected lower. It tested the $5.20 support and it remains well supported above the $5.00 level.

Looking at the total cryptocurrency market cap hourly chart, there were further upsides above the $165.0B and $170.0B resistance levels. The market cap even moved closer to the $180.0B level before correcting lower. There was a sharp downside correction below the $175.0B and $170.0B levels. However, the previous resistance near the $160.0B zone acted as a strong support. The market cap is currently consolidating, but it could move higher once again towards $170.0B or even $175.0B. Therefore, there could be more gains in bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS, litecoin, ripple, bitcoin cash, dogecoin, XLM, ICX, and other altcoins in the near future.

The crypto market cap has added a staggering $32.62 billion to its valuation in the last two days. And it is not just bitcoin that is leading the pump.

What started as a bitcoin rally later transformed into an altcoin-fest when bitcoin cash and litecoin began to posting winning numbers.

While bitcoin cash surged from $168.50 to as high as $336.62, litecoin ballooned to almost twice its April 2 valuation, rising from $61 to a session high at $94.48.

Together, the worlds fourth and fifth largest cryptocurrencies injected $4.52 billion into the market. That comprised almost 14 percent of the overall crypto pump.

The bitcoin cash price extended its upside momentum this Wednesday with a 54.18 percent jump in just 24 hours. As of 18:15 UTC, the pair was trading at $319.06, down 5.5 percent from its intraday high.

Crypto exchanges facilitating BCH-enabled pairs posted an adjusted daily volume of $3.76 billion (based on CMC data), mostly against Tethers stablecoin USDT, bitcoin, and the South Korean won. On Yahoo Finance, the reported volume was somewhat lower at $228.72 million.

The surge led BCH into an overbought area, according to its daily relative strength index. The momentum indicator was 91 at the time of this writing, awaiting correction. There is a likelihood that it would extend further into the buying area before dropping any lower, the signs of which could be seen in the price action above.

The BCH-to-dollar rate is currently targetting $400-408 as the next potential resistance area. The range earlier reversed BCH bearish momentum on nine separate occasions. The bears were able to break the support line only in the wake of poor fundamentals raised by the hard fork last November. $400 was support for bitcoin cash as much as $6,000 was for bitcoin.

That said, the bitcoin cash price could attempt a push towards or above $400-408 if accompanied by strong volume. A low-volume upside action would likely result in a pullback, taking the price first towards $279.83 a crucial support from the October 8 session while viewing the 200-period EMA as a potential downside target.

The litecoin-to-dollar rate jumped 31.69 percent, according to a 24-hour adjusted timeframe. As of 18:30 UTC, the pair was trading at $93.77 after correcting 2.3 percent lower from its intraday high.

On CMC, the LTC-enabled pairs noted an adjusted volume worth $5.83 billion. On Yahoo Finance, the reported volume was much lower at $158.59 million.

Like BCH, LTC also entered its overbought RSI area to 87. But unlike BCH, LTC had a crucial technical indicator supporting its upside push. The Golden Cross, an event in which a short-term moving average goes above a long-term moving average, formed on the litecoin chart on March 10. That does not explain why the litecoin price spiked so abruptly, though. All the Golden Cross indicated was an upside push.

As of now, the litecoin price is testing $93.79 as its interim resistance, while setting its upside target towards $102.917. If the pair fails to break above them and pulls back, then the pressure to support the uptrend would fall upon a support area defined by $62.89 and $68.98. They acted as strong resistance during the cryptocurrencys uptrend.

Oceania is a geographical (and geopolitical) region consisting of numerous countries and territoriesmostly islandsin the Pacific Ocean. The exact scope of Oceania variessome descriptions include East Timor, Australia, and New Zealand; other versions exclude them. The primary use of the term "Oceania" is to describe a continental region (like Europe or Africa) that lies between Asia and the Americas, with Australia as the major land mass. The name "Oceania" is used, rather than "Australia," because unlike the other continental groupings, it is the ocean rather than the continent that links the nations together.

Oceania is the smallest continental grouping in land area and the second smallest, after Antarctica, in population.

Oceania was divided into Micronesia, Melanesia, and Polynesia by the French explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville in 1831. This subdivision is no longer recognized as correct by most geographers and scientists, who prefer to divide Oceania into Near Oceania and Remote Oceania; it is still the most popular subdivision, though.

Most of Oceania consists of small island nations. Australia is the only continental country, and Papua New Guinea and East Timor are the only countries with land borders, both with Indonesia.

The nations of Oceania have varying degrees of independence from their colonial powers and have negotiated a wide range of constitutional arrangements to suit their circumstances. Australia is sometimes not included in Oceania, although a term like the "Pacific Islands" would normally be used to describe Oceania without Australia. Hawaii and the United States territories with no indigenous population in the North Pacific are sometimes included, but are normally grouped with the United States in North America. Hawaiians are a Polynesian race. Easter Island is a Polynesian island in the eastern Pacific Ocean, part of the territory of Chile, and is sometimes included in Oceania. On rare occasions, the term may be stretched even further to include other Pacific Ocean island groups such as the Aleutian Islands.

Oceania is one of eight terrestrial ecozones, which constitute the major ecological regions of the planet. The Oceania ecozone includes all of Micronesia, Fiji, and all of Polynesia except New Zealand. New Zealand, along with New Guinea and nearby islands, Australia, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia constitute the separate Australasia ecozone.

Oceania is the smallest in area of any of the ecozones, and the youngest, geologically. Other ecozones include old continental land masses or fragments of continents, but Oceania is composed mostly of island groups that arose from the sea, as a result of hotspot volcanism, or as island arcs pushed upward by the collision and subduction of tectonic plates. The islands range from tiny coral atolls to large mountainous islands, like Hawaii and Fiji.

The climate of Oceania's islands is tropical or subtropical, and ranges from humid to seasonally dry. Wetter parts of the islands are covered by tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, while the drier parts of the islands, including the leeward sides of the islands and many of the low coral islands, are covered by tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests and tropical and subtropical grasslands, savannas, and shrublands. Hawaii's high volcanoes, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, are home to some rare tropical montane grasslands and shrublands.

Since the islands of Oceania were never connected by land to a continent, the flora and fauna of the islands originally reached them from across the ocean. Once they reached the islands, the ancestors of Oceania's present flora and fauna adapted to life on the islands. Larger islands with diverse ecological niches encouraged floral and faunal adaptive radiation, whereby multiple species evolved from a common ancestor, each species adapted to a different ecological niche; the various species of Hawaiian honeycreepers (family Drepanididae) are a classic example. Other adaptations to island ecologies include giantism, dwarfism, and, among birds, loss of flight. Oceania has a number of endemic species; Hawaii, in particular, is considered a global center of endemism, with its forest ecoregions having one of the highest percentages of endemic plants in the world.

Land plants dispersed by several different means. Many plants, mostly ferns and mosses but also some flowering plants, disperse on the wind, relying on tiny spores or feathery seeds that can remain airborne over long distances. Other plants, notably coconut palms and mangroves, produce seeds that can float in saltwater over long distances, eventually washing up on distant beaches. Birds are also an important means of dispersal; some plants produce sticky seeds that are carried on the feet or feathers of birds, and many plants produce fruits filled with seeds that can pass through the digestive tracts of birds. Botanists generally agree that much of the flora of Oceania is derived from the Malesian Flora of the Malay Peninsula, Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Guinea, with some plants from Australasia and a few from the Americas, particularly in Hawaii. Metrosideros, Pandanus, and Coco are tree genera with a fairly ubiquitous distribution across Oceania.

Dispersal across the ocean is difficult for most land animals, and Oceania has relatively few indigenous land animals compared to other ecozones. Certain types of animals that are ecologically important on the continental ecozones, like large land predators and grazing mammals, were entirely absent from the islands of Oceania until humans brought them. Birds are relatively common, including many sea birds and some species of land birds whose ancestors may have been blown out to sea by storms. Some birds evolved into flightless species after their ancestors arrived, including several species of rails. A number of islands have indigenous lizards, including geckoes and skinks, whose ancestors probably arrived on floating rafts of vegetation washed out to sea by storms. With the exception of bats, which live on most of the island groups, there are few if any indigenous mammal species in Oceania. Several species, however, have been introduced by humans: the first Malayo-Polynesian settlers brought pigs, dogs, and, inadvertently, rats to the islands. European settlers brought other animals, including cats, mongooses, sheep, goats, and the Norway rat.

These and other introduced species, in addition to overhunting and deforestation, have dramatically altered the ecology of many of Oceania's islands, pushing many species to extinction or near-extinction. The absence of predator species caused many bird species to become nave, losing the instinct to flee from predators, and to lay their eggs on the ground, which makes them vulnerable to introduced predators like cats, dogs, mongooses, and rats. The arrival of humans on these island groups often resulted in disruption of the indigenous ecosystems and waves of species extinctions. Easter Island, the easternmost island in Polynesia, shows evidence of a human-caused ecosystem collapse several hundred years ago, which then caused the human population to implode. The island, once lushly forested, is now mostly windswept grasslands. More recently, Guam's native bird and lizard species were decimated by the introduction of the brown snake, Boiga irregularis, in the 1940s.

The economy of Oceania is comprised of more than 14 separate countries and their associated economies. The region has approximately 35,834,670 inhabitants who are spread among 30,000 islands in the South Pacific bordered by Asia and the Americas. Oceania has a diverse mix of economies from the highly developed and globally competitive financial markets of Australia (1st) and New Zealand (2nd), boasting parity with much of Western Europe, to the much less developed economies that belong to many of their island neighbors.

Many of the smaller Pacific nations rely on trade with Australia, New Zealand, and the United States for exporting goods and for accessing other products.

Australia and New Zealand's trading arrangements are known as Closer Economic Relations. Australia and New Zealand, along with other countries, are members of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the East Asia Summit (EAS), which may become trade blocs in the future, particularly the EAS.

The overwhelming majority of people in the Pacific (not including Australia and New Zealand) work in the primary sector. Many nations are still quintessentially agricultural; for example, 80 percent of the population of Vanuatu and 70 percent of the population of Fiji work in agriculture. The main produce from the Pacific is copra or coconut, but timber, beef, palm oil, cocoa, sugar, and ginger are also commonly grown across the tropics of the Pacific. Old growth logging is exploited on larger islands, including the Solomons and Papua New Guinea.

Fishing provides a major industry for many of the smaller nations in the Pacific, and the sale of fishing licenses can bring considerable income. However, many fishing areas are exploited by other larger countries, namely Japan.

Natural resources, such as lead, zinc, nickel, and gold, are mined across the west of the region, in the Solomon Islands and Australia. The manufacturing of clothing is a major industry in some parts of the Pacific, especially Fiji, although this is decreasing. Very little of the economy is in the area of investing and banking, save in the larger countries of Australia and New Zealand.

Recently, tourism has become a large source of income for many in the Pacific; tourists come from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Fiji currently draws almost half a million tourists each year; more than a quarter from Australia. This contributes US$300 million to Fiji's economy.

Aside from tourism, many places in the Pacific still rely on foreign aid for development. In the Solomon Islands, 50 percent of government spending is paid for by international donors; namely Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, Japan, and the Republic of China (Taiwan).

As the world's regions become increasingly interlinked to form trade blocs, Oceania's future could entail either increased unity or separatism. The outcome or resolutions to issues such as global warming, the Kyoto Agreement, and the subsequent potential of carbon trading could increase the region's viability and lead it to become more centralized. Greater unity, and therefore sustained prosperity, among Oceanian countries could be achieved through increased cooperation between the nation states economically, politically, and socially. The implementation of these factors could provide the region with a similar framework to the European Union in its most fundamental form. The formation of a common currency in the South Pacific, similar to that in Europe, may be the first step in this direction.

Oceaniais a region of the South Pacific Ocean that consists of many different island groups. It covers an area of more than 3.3 million square miles (8.5 million sq km). The island groups within Oceania are both countries and dependencies or territories of other foreign nations. There are 14 countries within Oceania, and they range in size from the very large, such as Australia (which is both a continent and a country), to the very small, like Nauru. But like any landmass on earth, these islands are changing constantly, with the tiniest at risk of disappearing entirely due to rising waters.

The following is a list of Oceania's 14 different countries arranged by land area from the largest to the smallest. All information in the list was obtained from theCIA World Factbook.

Ulawun, one of Papua New Guinea's volcanoes, has been deemed a Decade Volcano by the International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI). Decade volcanoes are those that are historically destructiveand close to populated areas, so they merit intensive study, according to the IAVCEI.

Although the whole world is feeling the effects of climate change, the people dwelling on the small islands of Oceania do have something serious and imminent to worry about: the complete loss of their homes. Eventually, entire islands could be consumed by the expanding sea. What sounds like tiny changes in the sea level, often talked about in inches or millimeters, is very real to these islands and the people who live there (as well as the U.S. military installations there) because the warmer, expanding oceans have more devastating storms and storm surges, more flooding, and more erosion.

It's not just that the water comes a few inches higher on the beach. Higher tides and more flooding can mean more saltwater in freshwater aquifers, more homes destroyed, and more saltwater reaching agricultural areas, with the potential to ruin the soil for growing crops.

Some of the smallest Oceania islands, such as Kiribati (mean elevation, 6.5 feet), Tuvalu (highest point, 16.4 feet), and the Marshall Islands (highest point, 46 feet)], are not that many feet above sea level, so even a small rise can have dramatic effects.

Five small, low-lying Solomon Islands have already been submerged, and six more have had entire villages swept out to sea or lost habitable land. The largest countries may not see the devastation on such a scale as quickly as the smallest, but all of the Oceania countries have a considerable amount of coastline to consider.

Extropianism is a philosophy of transhumanism that encompasses the Extropian principles in improving the human condition. It was founded in 1989 and incorporated in 1990 as a 501(c)3 non-profit. It established the modern movement of transhumanism through its conferences and publications. While it closed in 2006,[1] for its time frame, it was largely in support of libertarian political values of democracy such as small government, individual rights, liberty, morphological freedom and the Proactionary Principle. However, many of its members were not libertarian and as an international organization encompassed transhumanists of diverse political backgrounds and views. Have you noticed our current societal culture allows for a great deal of rationalization and justification,leading to convoluted thoughts, faulty reasoning, and very little personal accountability for individual choices? I have. Let me show you what I mean with these statements:

I dont mean to check email on my phone when with the kids, but something important might come up.

No, I dont text and driveexcept at a red light.

I shouldnt have lashed out at that guy, but he made me mad and deserved it.

Sure, my candidate should not have said that, but did you hear what the other guy said?

My child isnt perfect, but you should see what other kids do. *see below*

Arriving late to work isnt right,I knowbut everyone does it.

I shouldve called the customer back sooner, but Id have more time if management hired more people.

I know I can only change me, but if she would do things differently our marriage would be better.

Wed have a lot less violencein our country if politicians in D.C. werent so uncivil to each other.

Heavy doses ofjustification and rationalization for a persons actions are nothing more than finger-pointing and blame. Have you noticed when some folks explain theiractions, you only hear excuses? Sometimes it makes my head spin.

I know when Ioverthink stuff, I conjure up excuses for others and for me. Thats costly. No one can learn, grow, and change when unwilling to say, Im wrong, I own it. Heres what Ive learned.

Nor will any problems be solved. The Blame Game fails us all.

Great value is derived from living by clear, truth-based, timeless principles like personal accountability. Life is far less confounding when I do. I dont always measure up, but when I failI know it.

By embracing the reality that no one makes me do anything I dont want to doby eliminating the human urge to rationalize and justifyIempower myself to eradicate excuses,own my life, and be bettertomorrow than I am today.

Mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive cancer that develops on the protective lining around the lungs, abdomen, and heart. It is caused by exposure to asbestos and can take 20-50 years to develop.

Malignant mesothelioma is caused by asbestos exposure. Sharp asbestos fibers cause mesothelial cells to mutate and become cancerous when inhaled or ingested. It takes around 20-50 years after exposure to asbestos for mesothelioma to develop.

Occupational Exposure:

Since asbestos was widely used in industrial and commercial products, a large number of individuals have been exposed to this toxic substance in the workplace.

Veterans Exposure:

Asbestos was extensively used in every branch of the military due to its insulating and fire retardant properties. Veterans who worked as boilerman, pipefitters, mechanics and welders had the highest risk of exposure.

Secondary Exposure:

Family members can inhale asbestos fibers and dust carried into the home on work clothes. This is referred to as "secondary" or "take home" exposure.

Early symptoms of mesothelioma are similar to more common diseases such as pneumonia, the flu, or irritable bowel syndrome. Due to the long latency period associated with this cancer, symptoms dont usually appear until tumors have progressed. Symptoms vary based on the type of mesothelioma diagnosed.

Staging determines cancers severity and also indicates which treatment options are available. Cancer stages assign a number between 1 and 4 to the disease, with stage 1 being the least severe and stage 4 being the most progressed.

Based on the stage of the patients disease, specialists either prescribe treatments to remove the cancer, offer chemotherapy to extend life expectancy, or simply focus on limiting patient discomfort.

About 40% of mesothelioma patients have a one-year prognosis. A patients prognosis is often based on stage, cell type, and their overall health. Women and younger patients have a better life expectancy than older men.

IT automation is the use of instructions to create a repeated process that replaces an IT professional's manual work in data centers and cloud deployments. Software tools, frameworks and appliances conduct the tasks with minimum administrator intervention. The scope of IT automation ranges from single actions to discrete sequences and, ultimately, to an autonomous IT deployment that takes actions based on user behavior and other event triggers.

IT automation is different from orchestration, but commonly, the terms are used together. Automation accomplishes a task repeatedly without human intervention. Orchestration is a broader concept wherein the user coordinates automated tasks into a cohesive process or workflow for IT and the business. For example, an IT administrator enables workload scaling with automated instance creation, operating system (OS) installs and storage provisioning. They orchestrate the automation tasks in a workflow with a specific order of operations for each task. Orchestration can also include permissions and roles enforcement, approval gates and more.

IT automation relies on software tools to define and conduct a prescribed series of detailed actions that are invoked manually or by an external trigger, such as a change in IT capacity demand.

IT automation replaces a series of actions and responses between an administrator and the IT environment. For example, an IT automation platform, such as Microsoft Windows PowerShell, combines cmdlets, variables and other components into a script to mimic the series of commands and steps that an administrator would invoke one line at a time through the command-line interface (CLI) to provision a virtual machine (VM) or implement a backup process. A more complex IT automation outcome can be achieved by combining multiple scripts into a series. These limited-scope automation processes are most beneficial when they replace a task that an administrator has to perform frequently. Admins do not save much, if any, time by automating a rote action made once per month. Automating a rote action that occurs multiple times a day, however, significantly increases an administrator's time for other tasks that require decision-making and assessment skills.

Enterprise-class IT infrastructure automation tools trigger actions in response to thresholds and other situational conditions in the IT environment. Advanced IT automation tools oversee the configuration of systems, software and other infrastructure components; recognize unauthorized or unexpected changes; and automatically take corrective actions. For example, if a workload stops responding, this triggers the automated steps to restart it on a different server that has available capacity to run it. When IT automation is set to enforce a desired state of configurations, the tool will detect changes in a server's configuration that are out of spec and restore it to the correct settings.

IT automation's benefits include faster data center and cloud operations; reduced errors and variation from one implementation of a task to the next; and enhanced security and governance. However, an IT automation strategy must account for and eliminate errors; an automated error will proliferate much more quickly than a manual error. IT automation can also erroneously become a goal in and of itself, regardless of the return on investment from the initial setup work to time saved.

Speed. IT operations requires a significant number of distinct tasks. An IT administrator can accomplish each task manually, but modern business demands place extraordinary pressure on IT staff to respond quickly to needs across large, complex infrastructures. Humans cannot provision and configure workloads in minutes and accomplish all of the individual routine tasks required, at any time of day. Automation frees administrators from time spent on routine tasks so that they can apply themselves to value-added projects for the business, such as IT infrastructure optimization and experimentation with promising new technologies and products.

While automation saves time, it requires that admins carefully plan and research each task necessary for the intended workflow and then correctly translate those steps into the automation platform to achieve the desired end state. A company may appoint one or more IT automation managers, replacing or supplementing the role of IT administrators.

Accuracy. An IT administrator is liable to make an error while typing in a CLI, choose the wrong configuration setting for a server, overlook a key step in a complex task or make other mistakes. Errors lead admins to take additional time to troubleshoot and repeat the work process to get it right. IT automation enables an IT professional to construct a proven, accurate sequence of operations that can be run countless times in exactly the same manner.

While countless repetition without deviation is a benefit of IT automation, it can also be detrimental. Errors and oversights are easily codified into an automated process, which the automation tool will perform as quickly and efficiently as it does the correct steps. If the administrator automates a complex sequence of events and misses a key step or sets a variable incorrectly, that error is repeated ad nauseam until it is caught, remediated and rolled back. The 2010 flash crash of the United States stock market damaged global trade because of an automated computer system with a flawed algorithm. Test and vetting procedures must be part of an IT automation strategy.

Intent. An automated system is not the same thing as an intelligent system; it only knows as much as the human that programmed it can distill into scripts and commands. For example, an emailspam filter is an automated IT mechanism with the intent to filter out unwanted messages. Occasionally, valid email messages will end up in the spam folder, and unwanted spam email gets past the filter.

Governance. Different IT administrators perform the same task in different ways, and even the same administrator handles a task differently from one time to the next. For corporate governance and regulatory compliance, an IT automation strategy demonstrates consistency in IT operations, regardless of the administrator on any given day.

Flexibility. Processes change over time as the IT infrastructure grows and changes, and technologies and best practices evolve. Automated processes remain static until a person decides to change them. Organizations must have a set workflow to update and revalidate automation processes, including disciplined automation versioning that tracks how tasks change over time.

Integration and interoperability. IT automation tools must be compatible with systems, software and other elements across potentially diverse IT environments. Ideally, an automation tool should integrate with higher-level orchestration tools to roll tasks together under governed workflows.

Implementing IT automation does not guarantee results. No tool, framework or appliance assures that the IT organization will eliminate errors, improve security or enhance compliance. IT staff need competence and skill using IT automation tools to translate IT behaviors into concrete procedural steps. For example, to use PowerShell, IT staff must understand hundreds of cmdlets with proper syntax and command-line usage.

IT automation products appear and evolve rapidly; each product has a specific focus and scope for IT and the business.

Microsoft is a traditional IT vendor that supplies automation in products such as System Center 2016 Orchestrator and Service Manager, as well as PowerShell and PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC). Other automation vendors have more narrowly focused product lines. For example, CA Technologies offers Server Automation for tasks such as server provisioning and patching and OS configuration, as well as automation of storage and application components, client systems and other major enterprise specializations. A similar tool, BMC Software's BladeLogic Server Automation, includes preconfigured compliance policies for the Center for Internet Security (CIS), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other regulations. There are also countless emerging automation vendors in the software-defined infrastructure space, such as Chef, Puppet, SaltStack and HashiCorp. These DevOps IT automation tools support software development and deployment integrated with infrastructure configurations, sometimes called infrastructure as code (IAC). The automation capabilities are designed so that users can create and support consistent workflows from development to operations.

IT automation is hardly a new idea, but the technology is still in its formative stages. Even the most full-featured tools depend on an IT professional or team to develop and maintain discrete automation elements, such as scripts, templates, policies and workflows.

IT automation will progress to act with greater intelligence and autonomy. IT automation platforms are likely to rely heavily on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. For example, an automation tool can synthesize data on configurations, performance and other information across an IT deployment and process these inputs to discover a normal system operations benchmark, a deviation from which would trigger corrective actions. IT automation systems imbued with AI insights theoretically lessen the importance of deliberate, human-made automation rules, relying instead on autonomous choices guided by high-level business cost and compliance requirements.

IT automation is a broad term, often conflated or bound together with business task automation. An automated IT workflow can accomplish a strictly IT task, such as provisioning additional storage to a VM, or a business task, such as creating a new user account on the corporate email system.

Process automation improves workflows, typically in factories and other settings, where the same task or series of tasks occurs repeatedly.

Business process automation (BPA) is the application of IT automation to achieve goals such as increased worker productivity or lower costs of operations.

Some professionals refer to IT automation as service automation; they are functionally the same thing.
