Mat Zo Announces Third Album Illusion of Depth Due Out This October – Your EDM

Its the start of a new chapter for mastermindMat Zo, who just announced his forthcoming third studio albumIllusion of Depthand dropped its two leading singles.

Problems and Love Songs will give you an idea of the direction hes heading but its impossible to get a full grasp just yet, as we can always expect the unexpected with Mat Zo. The album promises to deliver a fusion of genres, from 90s warehouse techno, to French filter house and jungle/D&B to cinematic rock. The dynamic heard between Problems and Love Songs below is just scratching the surface.

The producer shares:

I started working on Illusion of Depth because I wanted to make a body of work that was cohesive. Im usually known for being all over the place, but I wanted to make an album that had unifying qualities. In this case, partly its the tempo. Everything on the album is in the 124-128 bpm range, but within that constraint, I still managed to be all over the place stylistically. Theres also a lot more live/non-digital elements on this album than my previous work. I was getting really tired of how clean everything is in this corner of dance music. Above all else, I wanted to make an album with grit, texture, and attitude. I wanted to make a fuck you statement to the safe, sugary, fluffy world of a post-EDM trance.

Illusion of Depth is due out October 9th on Anjunabeats.

Pre-order the album here.

Bitcoin Association hires Patrick Prinz as Europe & Operations Manager to further advance Bitcoin SV – CoinGeek

Zug, Switzerland (30 July 2020) Bitcoin Association, the Switzerland-based global industry organization that advances Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV), has named Patrick Prinz, CFA as its new Europe & Operations Manager. Working out of the Associations headquarters in Crypto Valley Zug, Switzerland, Prinz will serve two roles advance the business growth of Bitcoin SV throughout Europe and support the operational needs of the organization globally.

Bitcoin Association supports Bitcoin SV because it is the only blockchain protocol adhering to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamotos original design and vision for Bitcoin to become a peer-to-peer electronic cash system and global data ledger for enterprise. The Bitcoin SV ecosystem has rapidly grown to over 428 known Bitcoin SV projects and ventures worldwide. Developers and businesses are discovering the value of the Bitcoin blockchain when it massively scales a public ledger capable of huge transaction volumes, micropayments, greater data capacity, smart contracts, tokenization, and many advanced applications.

A true believer in this Satoshi Vision for Bitcoin, Prinz has a strong background in financial services and strategy consulting. Most recently, he worked as a senior investment advisor for a global asset management group. Prinz advised on emerging technologies, and discovered the benefits of having a single, massively scalable, public, auditable ledger for storing any type of data and allowing value transfer at a micropayment level only possible using the Bitcoin SV blockchain.

Previously, Prinz was a consultant at a leading strategy consulting firm acting as advisor to international banks on how to incorporate complex regulatory requirements and adapt business models to industry paradigm shifts. He began his career in corporate and investment banking, working at Deutsche Bank and Citi. Prinz holds a Master of Science degree in Banking and Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Administration.

Speaking on his appointment, Prinz said: Bitcoin SV is finally fulfilling the potential that initially excited me about Bitcoin many years ago to achieve efficiencies as the single public data ledger and micropayment system for the world. As I was puzzled by the fact that innovation and development were not happening on BTC, I did my own extensive research and realized that Satoshi Nakamotos original design and the Bitcoin white paper always had the answers to achieve a massively scalable global public blockchain. With scaling comes efficiency, and with efficiency come innovation and entrepreneurship which is all happening on Bitcoin SV with the emergence of completely new business models powered by microtransactions and the immutable public ledger that Bitcoin is. I am thrilled to join Bitcoin Association to work with businesses and entrepreneurs to educate them on the transformative power which Bitcoin SV brings to the world.

Jimmy Nguyen, Founding President of Bitcoin Association, commented: With Patricks addition, we welcome to our team another high-caliber professional with international business experience. Patrick will play a vital role in operational management as we grow our headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. He will also be a strong business voice for Bitcoin SV across Europe with his financial services knowledge, effective communication skills, and passionate belief in Bitcoins true power.

Patricks hire is the latest step in the global expansion of Bitcoin Association. He joins two other regional business managers Lise Li (China) and Ella Qiang (Southeast Asia, based in Singapore) all with considerable experience in both Bitcoin and business. Additional team members come from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, China, and New Zealand. The staff is further supported by Bitcoin Association Global Ambassadors in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, Panama, Russia and CIS region, the Scandinavia region, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, and the United States.

Congress grills Facebook over its acquisitions and feature cloning – Engadget

Zuckerberg expanded on the idea in another email. We can likely always just buy any competitive startups. But itll be a while before we can buy Google, he wrote. Later, when asked about the quote, Zuckerberg said he didnt remember writing the note, but said it sounds like a joke.

It wasnt the only incident Zuckerberg claimed not to remember.

Some of the most intense questioning on the subject came from Washington Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who repeatedly asked Zuckerberg about Facebook's strategy of trying to copy competing apps. It led to a rather incredible exchange, in which Jayapal asked about Zuckerbergs interactions with former Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom and Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel, both of which Zuckerberg said he didnt recall.

Has Facebook ever threatened to clone the products of another company while also attempting to acquire that company, Jayapal asked. Not that I recall, Zuckerberg said, prompting Jayapal to remind the CEO that he was under oath.

She then asked Zuckerberg if he had used Facebook Camera to threaten Systrom into agreeing to an acquisition.

Im not sure what you would mean by threaten, Zuckeberg said.

Were there any other companies you used this same tactic with, she asked, pointing to Snapchat and Zuckerbergs well-documented pursuit of the company.

I dont remember those specific conversations, he said.

Jayapal ended the questioning by calling Facebook a case study in monopoly power.

Your company harvests and monetizes our data, and then your company uses that data to spy on competitors and copy, acquire and kill rivals, she said. Youve used Facebooks power to threaten smaller competitors and to ensure that you always get your way. These tactics reinforce Facebooks dominance, which you then use in increasingly destructive ways. So Facebooks very model makes it impossible for new companies to flourish separately and that harms our democracy.

Zuckerberg wasn't the only CEO in attendance to face questions about his companys acquisitions. Google CEO Sundar Pichai was also hit with tough questions around Googles acquisition, and subsequent merger with DoubleClick.

And Amazons Jeff Bezos was asked about Amazons pursuit of diapers.com, and its plan to win against the competing online retailer, which eventually resulted in Amazon buying the company. Bezos, like Zuckerberg, cited a faulty memory.

Youre asking a lot of my memory, he said.

This Is How A Deepfake Voice Clone Sounds Like (Clip Taken From A Real Scam) – Digital Information World

You may have seen it in the movies before but the strange application of deep fakes is here in the form of new audio deepfake scam. Hackers are taking advantage of the AI technology to clone a persons voice and then with the help of social engineering techniques, they are making people move their money wherever the bad actors want.

As such scams have gained headlines, there has always been one concern of how good the voice clones are that make attackers easily target whoever they want. While we had never really heard any audio coming from any deepfake scam, a security consulting firm NISOS has released one audio clip that was sent to an employee in a tech firm (whose name is not provided)

In the clip, you would hear the attacker speaking like the companys CEO to fool the employee into providing help regarding an urgent business deal. The quality is no so great and even sounds slight robotic but still it is passable. Furthermore, if you are a junior employee of any organization and your boss orders you to do something, you wouldnt really care about whether the call is fake or original in the given circumstances.

According to Rob Volkert, a researcher at NISOS, the voice turned out to be more human when they checked the box but they were not sure whether it sounded really like the CEO.

Fortunately, the attack was an unsuccessful one because the employee who received the call immediately figured out that it was suspicious and told about it to the firms legal department. That being said, such attacks are bound to happen in more numbers because deepfake tools are becoming more easily accessible.

If you want to create a voice clone then all you need is lots of recordings of the specific person. With lots of data, you can easily improve the audio quality and eventually, the result of the whole scam would be pretty much in your favor. In fact, recordings of such senior executives can be taken easily as they often have to socialize in the form of giving interviews and speeches.

The best and probably the biggest deep fake scam took place in 2019 when the Cheif Executive of a UK Energy Firm was asked to send 220,000 ($240,000) to a Hungarian supplier within an hour by supposedly the CEO of his companys parent firm in Germany. He sent the money like a good CEO and later no one has been able to catch the attackers to date.

Earlier in 2020, the FTC has started warning people about the deepfake audio scams. There is also an easy way out to spot a scam call as revealed by Patrick Traynor of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering who suggests that people should hang up the phone and call the person back to confirm if the orders are true.

If your luck is bad only then you would be connected to the same state actor who might have the access to reroute phone calls by now. Otherwise, you will always be safe with this little trick.

Hard Drive Cloning Software Market To Witness Growth Acceleration During 2020 to 2026 - Express Journal

Kanazawa University research: Diverse amyloid structures and dynamics revealed by high-speed atomic force microscopy – PRNewswire

KANAZAWA, Japan, July 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Researchers at Kanazawa University report in ACS Nano a high-speed atomic-force microscopy study of the formation of protein fibrils (amyloids) associated with pathologies in collaborated research with Showa University.Mixing different variants of a single protein and changing the acidity of its environment is shown to result in significant variations in amyloid structure and elongation rates.

In the human body, proteins sometimes occur in fibrillar aggregates called amyloids. Although certain amyloids are known to have a biological function, amyloid formation is often associated with pathologies, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Understanding how exactly amyloid fibrils form is crucial for gaining insights into the development of such diseases and for advancing with treatment approaches. Now, Takahiro Watanabe-Nakayama from Kanazawa University, Kenjiro Ono from Showa University, and colleagues have investigated the formation process of particular amyloid fibrils using a technique enabling visualization of growth over time. The scientists specifically looked at the effect of cross-seeding ('mixing') different proteins forming aggregates, and found variations in elongation rates and the structures of the fibrils.

The researchers studied alpha-synuclein, a protein abundant in the human brain. They looked at what happened when letting wild-type alpha-synuclein molecules the natural, most abundant variant form aggregates, and also how aggregation is different when introducing (cross-seeding) mutant variants associated with Parkinson's disease. In addition, the scientists examined the influence of the pH level of the microenvironment in which fibril growth takes place.

By means of high-speed atomic-force microscopy (HS-AFM), Watanabe-Nakayama, Kenjiro Ono, and colleagues could record fibril aggregation at nanometer resolution and high video rate for various cases.First, the scientists looked at the growth of single variant types (self-seeding).They found that mutants produced more aggregates, or that they aggregated faster at neutral pH than the wild-type variants. Another observation was that elongation was faster at lower pH (5.8, i.e. acidic) than at higher pH (7.4, i.e. basic).

For cross-seeding, different scenarios can occur. Fibril growth can be accelerated or slowed down, or even stopped. The morphology of the original seed can be preserved, but it also happens that the structure of the resulting fibril is different typical structural forms are 'straight' or 'spiral'. The researchers checked that fibril structure and dynamics as observed with HS-AFM correspond to the processes in solution by means of fluorescence experiments; similar conclusions were obtained.

The findings of Watanabe-Nakayama, Kenjiro Ono, and colleagues are relevant for better understanding amyloid-related diseases. Quoting the researchers: "Cross-seeding combined with variations in elongation rates has the effect of increasing the structural diversity of the resulting assemblies. This diversity may be reflected in distinct neurotoxic effects for various [protein] assemblies."

Background

Amyloids

Amyloids are fibrillar aggregates of protein molecules.Although some amyloids are known to have a biological function (for example the release of hormones), they are associated with diseases collectively called amyloidoses. These include neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Many different proteins can form amyloids; Takahiro Watanabe-Nakayama from Kanazawa University and colleagues studied fibril formation of alpha-synuclein molecules by means of high-speed atomic force microscopy.

Atomic force microscopy

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is an imaging technique in which the image is formed by scanning a surface with a very small tip.Horizontal scanning motion of the tip is controlled via piezoelectric elements, while vertical motion is converted into a height profile, resulting in a height distribution of the sample's surface. As the technique does not involve lenses, its resolution is not restricted by the so-called diffraction limit. In a high-speed setup (HS-AFM), the method can be used to produce movies of a sample's structural evolution in real time.Watanabe-Nakayama and colleagues have successfully used HS-AFM to study the formation and structural dynamics of amyloids obtained by self- and cross-seeding alpha-synuclein protein variants.

Mawson Resources says funded to drill promising gold and silver targets in Mt Isa in Queensland – Proactive Investors USA & Canada

The company will receive the Queensland governments support for exploration focused on new economy minerals like silver, copper and gold, which drive resource jobs in Australia

Mawson Resources Limited () (OTCPINK:MWSNF) revealed on Thursday that it is among 24 companies that will receivethe Queensland state governments support for exploration focused on new economy minerals like silver, copper and gold, which drive resource jobs in Australia.

The Vancouver-based exploration and development company has distinguished itself as a leading exploration company with a focus on its Victorian gold properties in Australia. The company also has a flagship Rajapalot gold-cobalt project in Finland.

Mawson will receive $200,000 in funding from the Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI) to fund deep drilling for silver, copper and gold near the world-class Cannington mine. The underground Australian mine is located in north-west Queensland, about 200 kilometres southeast of Mount Isa.

The company noted that the Mt Isa area is one of the most metal-endowed areas of the world, and contains 5% of the world's silver resources, 1.7% of the world's copper resources, 21.2% of the world's lead resources and 11% of the world's zinc resources, within numerous world-class mines.

The gravity target which Mawson will drill test is part of Mawson's Mt Isasouth-east project that encompasses a new search space along the eastern margin of the Mt Isa block. The company has built a significant position of 483 square kilometres of granted exploration licences in the Cloncurry district of Mt Isa, over a combined 60 kilometres of strike.

In a statement, Mawson Resources CEO Michael Hudson said: "We are thrilled and thankful to the Queensland Government that Mawson has been recognized for its quiet hunt for silver and copper/gold resources in the prolific Mt Isa region of Australia.

He added: The company has now been funded to drill our best target in the Mt Isa area, located 50 kilometres south-southeast from the silver-lead Cannington mine, which provides a tremendous opportunity in true "elephant" country. Shareholders can now anticipate results from drill programs from three prospective global precious-metal terrains during the remainder of the year."

The Queensland government considers exploration critical to keep up with the soaring global demand for tech minerals, creating grants to put the state resource industry on the front foot.

South China Sea fury: US issues alarming warning as tensions threaten to erupt – WW3 fears – Daily Express

The South China is a highly contested area with China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines all laying claim to parts of the archipelago. In recent weeks, the US has increased its military presence in the region.

Diplomatic relations between the nations, which have laid claim to the islands, are already extremely strained.

China has recently constructed several military bunkers on some of the atolls, sparking fears of a World War 3 outbreak.

And now, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has issued an alarming warning to Beijing and called for other nations to counter against China.

Writing on Twitter, Mr Pompeo said: The United States policy is crystal clear: the South China Sea is not Chinas maritime empire.

If Beijing violates international law and free nations do nothing, history shows the CCP will simply take more territory.

China Sea disputes must be resolved through international law.

Back in May, Independence-class US Navy littoral combat ships were spotted patrolling the much-disputed South China Sea.

The US Air Force and Marines conducted training exercises in the area with three submarines joining ships and aircraft in the nearby Philippine Sea.

READ MORE:South China Sea: Beijings expansionist policy branded illegal'

The actions are thought to be a reaction to Chinese harassment of ships drilling for resources in nearby waters.

Rear Adm. Fred Kacher, commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 7, said at the time: The versatility and flexibility of Independence-variant littoral combat ships rotationally deployed to Southeast Asia is a game-changer.

Like Montgomerys previous operations, Gabrielle Giffords operations near West Capella (the drillship) demonstrate the depth of capability the US Navy has available in the region.

There is no better signal of our support for a free and open Indo-Pacific than positive and persistent US Naval engagement in this region.

Earlier today, a South China Sea expert Hu Bo warned of a potential conflict between the US and China is on the cards.

Speaking to CGTN, the Director of the Center for Maritime Strategy Research said: "Although the US has been trying to decouple from China in other areas, they are still closely connected.

"The chances of a large-scale conflict happening are small.

"But a medium or small-scale conflict is possible, such as two warships hitting each other or occasional crossfire since the two countries warships and aircraft encounter each other."

Over recent weeks, China has confronted several foreign ships passing through the region.

Last week, five Australian warships arrived in the region to show support for US and Japanese militaries.

However, they were stopped by Chinese vessels after it was reported Beijing had test-fired live weapons nearby.

Commodore Michael Harris, commander of the Australian Joint Task Group, said: "The opportunity to work alongside the US and Japanese is invaluable.

"Maintaining security and safety at sea requires navies to be able to co-operate seamlessly.

China launches fresh attack on UK in retaliation for poisoned ties with Beijing – Daily Express

Chinas ambassador to London, Liu Xiaoming, warned the UK it would pay the price if it shunned Beijing.Mr Xiaoming was remarking on the heated disputes over the Hong Kong tech giant Huawei and the alleged human rights abuses in Xinjiang.

He said Britain was at a critical historical juncture in how it wanted to treat China.

The Chinese ambassador also appeared to reference Donald Trumps administration by cautioning the UK against allowing Cold War warriors to further damage relations.

Mr Xiaoming was speaking at a live news conference broadcast on Twitter when he made his remarks.

He rejected any claims made about the abuses towards Uighur Muslims.

During the conference, he also criticised the Governments decision to exclude Huawei from the UKs 5G network.

He also urged the UK not to interfere with Chinas affairs in Hong Kong.

He said: These actions have seriously poisoned the atmosphere of the China-UK relationship.

China respects UK sovereignty and has never interfered in the UKs internal affairs.

READ MORE:China's 'unusual' threat to UK indicates big dilemma facing Beijing

It is important the UK will do the same - namely, respect Chinas sovereignty and stop interfering in Hong Kongs affairs, which are Chinas internal affairs, so as to avoid further damage to the China-UK relationship.

Mr Xiaoming said his comments were intended to threaten nobody.

He added: We just let you know the consequences.

People regard some of my remarks as threatening words.

I think they quote my remarks out of context.

But, if you do not want to be our partners and our friends, you want to treat China as a hostile country, you will pay the price.

That means you will lose the benefits of treating China as opportunities, as friends.

And you will bear the consequences of treating China as a hostile country.

Mr Trumps administration has encouraged allies to distance themselves from Beijing.

Britains Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, has said the UK-China relations would not return to normal amid the disputes between the two countries.

The Chinese ambassador urged the UK not to follow in the footsteps of other countries.

Mr Xiaoming said: Its our hope that the UK would resist the pressure and coercion from a certain country and provide an open, fair, transparent and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese investment so as to bring back the confidence of Chinese business in the UK.

He added: Its hard to imagine a global Britain that bypasses or excludes China.

Decoupling from China means decoupling from opportunities, decoupling from growth and decoupling from the future.

The NBA, China and racial justice: How to untangle the leagues messy relationship with human rights – Yahoo Sport Australia

Here are two statements:

The NBA, by professional sports league standards, has a decently strong record on human rights. It allows players to speak their minds. It believes that Black lives matter. It uses its power to fight injustice in the United States.

The NBA, an adored global corporation, has also gone to great lengths to build and maintain a multibillion-dollar relationship with a human rights-abusing government halfway around the world.

They are two factual statements that at this time last year coexisted peacefully. Yet recently, theyve become entangled, pitted against each other, by U.S. senators and laypeople alike. On Thursday, when the NBA season resumes, activism will be inescapable; players will protest police brutality and racial injustice in America; BLACK LIVES MATTER will scream at viewers off courts. And perhaps the most common criticism of the NBAs initiatives will be a prickly diversion.

But what about China?!?

Its a fascinating retort, because its grounded in the most glaring demerit on the NBAs recent record. An ESPN investigation published Wednesday raised more red flags. For years, the league ignored authoritarian crackdowns and ethnic persecution as it built and monetized a rabid fan base in China. It ran an abusive basketball academy in a police state where Muslims are interned in concentration camps. When Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted in support of Hong Kong last October, and the Chinese government attacking democratic freedoms in Hong Kong bristled, the NBA moved swiftly to salvage its relationship with that government. The leagues most prominent figures, from LeBron James to Steve Kerr, didnt rush to condemn injustice, as they had so often in the past and have so often since. Instead, they either criticized Morey, or remained conspicuously silent. Officials, in some cases, stepped in to silence them.

The silence was embarrassing. It enables and legitimizes oppression. Sure, the NBA actually stood up to China with more strength than most corporations do. But the widespread disapproval it received was deserved. Where things got messy, and problematic, was when that disapproval became bottomless ammo for whataboutism. When China became the catch-all counter. When injustice became the response to calls for justice.

We can, and should, criticize the league and its most prominent characters for refusing to outright condemn oppression in China. We also can, and should, support the league and its most prominent characters as they try to combat oppression closer to home. Our criticism and support arent contradictory. In fact, they necessarily go hand in hand.

When the NBA returns to action Thursday, some players will wear racial justice messages on their uniforms, and courts will declare, "BLACK LIVES MATTER." (AP)

Injustice clouds every second of every day in every country. To use the neglect of some injustice to detract from the fight against other injustice is to uphold all of it. Change is local. Successful fights for it are often hyper-focused. Black Americans, some of whom comprise a majority of the NBA, are trying to lead one. To support their fight, to affirm that Black lives matter, to do your part to dismantle systemic racism, is not an affront to Muslims detained in China, or families brutalized in Syria, or women denied rights in Iran, or LGBTQ+ people denied humanity everywhere.

To support NBA players advocacy is to fight for human rights, period. They are attacking one web of injustice among many. To refuse to support their fight because they havent attacked another web of injustice is hypocritical. It is unfair, and counterproductive, to criticize progressive action on the basis of inaction elsewhere. If we do, progress is unattainable.

Now, it is fair to separately criticize the inaction especially when that inaction could be described as suppression of action in the name of profit. We should acknowledge, and scrutinize, why the NBA cuddles up and cowers to China. It lost hundreds of millions of dollars in the wake of Moreys tweet. If it were to push harder for democratic freedoms in Hong Kong, it would lose more. Those losses hit the league, and spread to teams, and filtered down to players and employees. Which is why they all say nothing. The NBA believes in human rights, and recognizes how powerfully it can advocate for them. It pulled the 2017 All-Star Game out of North Carolina to pressure the state to protect them. But somewhere between Carolina and China, it drew its line. A line between social responsibility and money.

Story continues

We all have one. Every corporation, every institution, every individual. Even the most well-meaning people like and need money. Some arent willing to sacrifice any of it to make the world a better place. Some are. Everybody, though, is faced with the question of how much?

You can argue, and many would, that the NBA should sacrifice more. That the line should stretch well beyond China and those hundreds of millions of dollars. That no American company not the NFL, not Nike, not Apple should deal with China. (They all do.) But you probably cant argue the line shouldnt exist. If you believe the NBA should fight any injustice at any cost, then you, too, should quit your job and go fight injustice; then every company, regardless of industry, should cease production of their goods or services and pour all resources into the battle. Of course, thats unrealistic. The world will never be, cannot be, 100 percent selfless.

The NBA, like so many others, does the right thing until the right thing is too costly. We can, and should, criticize the billionaires who own it for not spending more in the name of human rights because thats essentially what this is. We can, and should, criticize the league for its response to Morey. We can, and should, criticize LeBron.

Because injustice is injustice, whether we, personally, feel it or not.

And that, precisely, is also why we must support the NBA players crusading against it.

You can, and should, call them out for not condemning all injustice. But if you do so to undermine their condemnations of some injustice, then youre not condemning all injustice yourself.

We care about Chinas oppression because were empathetic, and believe injustice is wrong. For the exact same reason, we will listen to NBA players on Thursday and beyond; we have heard them speak about the violence and prejudice they and their communities experience; we will hear them say, as a collective, that Black lives matter, and that systemic racism must end; and we will say, Yes. Absolutely.

Artificial Intelligence Loses Some Of Its Edginess, But Is Poised To Take Off – Forbes

AI advances

More than a decade ago, Nicholas Carr,in his workDoes IT Matter, suggested that the widespread availability and low prices of technology made it more of a utility like electricity or water, versus a competitive differentiator. This may be happening with artificial intelligence to some degree.

It appears that AIs early adopter phase is ending; the market is now moving into the early majority chapter of this maturing set of technologies, write Beena Ammanath, David Jarvis and Susanne Hupfer, all with Deloitte, in their most recent analysis of the enterprise AI space. Early-mover advantage may fade soon. As adoption becomes ubiquitous, AI-powered organizations may have to work harder to maintain an edge over their industry peers.

Seventy-four prevent of 2,727 executives responding to a Deloitte survey agree that AI will be integrated into all of their enterprise applications within three years. Although adopters are still bullish on AI, their advantage may wane as barriers to adoption fall and usage grows, Ammanath and her co-authors state. Organizations are finding it easier and easier to employ AI technologies. Data science and machine learning platforms have proliferated; AI-optimized hardware is providing greater compute power. It is now easier to train algorithms through self-service data preparation tools, synthetic data, small data, and pretrained models.

It is increasingly clear that we are on the path toward an era of pervasive AI, they add. The challenge now is leveraging AI in innovative ways to maintain its advantages, the study finds. For example, much of the work with AI is still confined to managing IT systems. In addition, there still isnt enough AI talent to go around.

At least 26% of the companies surveyed can be considered seasoned AI adopters, meaning they have undertaken a large number of AI production deployments and have developed a high level of AI expertise across the board. These AI leaders are still seeing competitive advantage 45% of this group said that AI technologies have enabled them to establish a significant lead over their competitors, versus 26% of the entire sample.

Still, this means a majority of even the most advanced AI companies, 55%, still arent seeing competitive advantage. Part of this may be due to the fact that AI is still confined to IT departments and functions, including cybersecurity Forty-seven percent of respondents indicated that IT was one of the top two functions for which AI was primarily used, the survey shows.

This could mean that companies are using AI for IT-related applications such as analyzing IT infrastructure for anomalies, automating repetitive maintenance tasks, or guiding the work of technical support teams, Ammanath and her co-authors note. Tellingly, business functions such as marketing, human resources, legal, and procurement ranked at the bottom of the list of AI-driven functions.

An area that needs work is finding or preparing individuals to work with AI systems. Fewer than half of executives (45%) say they have a high level of skill around integrating AI technology into their existing IT environments, the survey shows. This could include data science and machine learning platforms, enterprise applications powered by AI, tools for developing conversation interfaces, and low-code or no-code tools. Across all these different technology areas, 93% are using cloud-based AI capabilities, while 78% employ open-source AI capabilities.

Ammanath and her team offer some suggestions for keeping the edge with AI:

Pursue creative approaches. Take inspiration from inventive use cases to develop solutions that are both useful and novel.

Push boundaries. Expand your view of what may be possible to accomplish with AI technologies. Try to pursue a more diverse portfolio of projects that could potentially enhance multiple business functions across the enterprise.

Create the new. Look to develop new AI-powered products and services that take advantage of the technologies ability to learn and solve problems that humans cant.

Expand the circle. Move AI beyond the IT department by involving more of the business in AI efforts. Look for new vendors, partnerships, data sources, tools, and techniques to advance your efforts.

Leverage a diverse team. Include both technical and business experts in selecting AI technologies and suppliers. Having a broad perspective from developers, integrators, end users, and business owners can help ensure organizational alignment and a focus on business outcomes. Along with any vendor support consider using working groups, dedicated leaders, or communities of practice.

Actively address risks. Developing a set of principles and processes to actively manage the range of AI risks can help build trust within your business and with customers and partners.

Challenge vendors. While it is important to build trust and transparency with providers of your AI-powered systems, it can be equally essential to ensure that what they provide is aligned with your organizations ethical principles.

How artificial intelligence is transforming the world in the current pandemic situation? – Geospatial World

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a wide-ranging tool that allows individuals to reconsider how we can all mix data, examine information, and use the subsequent understandings to conclude. Already it is altering each way of our life. AIs application in various sectors has been applied drastically. They address problems in the expansions and provide approvals for receiving the most from artificial intelligence while still caring for significant human values.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing our way of life, meaning to impersonate human insight by a PC/machine in settling different issues. At first, AI was intended to defeat more manageable issues like dominating a chess match, language recognition, and picture recovery. With the innovative headways, AI is getting progressively sophisticated at doing what people do, yet more effectively, quickly, and at a lower cost in tackling complex issues. Artificial intelligence is paying attention in combating the current pandemic. Projects directly is associated to pharmacology, hospital and medical care, or stretch inspection to decrease infection have seen a critical supporter in data science to make development and bring positive results.

The pandemic taken place due to COVID-19 is the initial worldwide public health disaster in the 21st century. At present, numerous AI-driven projects depended on data science big data or machine learning is being used through many wide varieties of areas to envisage, clarify and handle the dissimilar situations that take place due to health disaster. AI over here is playing an essential role in supporting and aiding to make important decisions.

AI has been used and delivered in getting results in three fields in the situation of the epidemic that is in the investigation of virus study and the growth of medicines and injections. The other one is in the administration of resources and services at healthcare places. While the last is in examining data to sustenance public policy choices meant at handling the disaster, like the quarantine procedures.

Below are a few methods where AI technology is used to help restrain the disturbing effect of the virus.

Currently, the data needed for measuring a persons scientific danger from constricting an assumed virus are not effortlessly retrieved. Administrations surely can increase nationwide fitness information congregation by making or passing many complete electric medical records. Nonetheless, the worth of such might be less as it will be time consuming to arise among the past data in medicinal archives and the impact on a victim. AI gives the best method that can make as well as share a prediction model from an original outbreak. A dataset with several victims is huge to allow a few levels of the modified forecast.

The earlier interferences are taken to stalk the current of an epidemic, the additional successful they are at decelerating and discontinuing the spread. This is why the initial examination of a crisis in the expansion is very much needed. Many AI solutions companies are energetically using AI to forecast outbursts of infectious viruses.

Even the geolocation and facial recognition technology is being used to track people who might contact COVID -19 patients. With AI tools, one could even use to trail amenability with quarantine and self-isolation orders. AI potential has always been very clear during the crisis. At the time of the pandemic, when time plays an important part, AI can help as an important tool in assisting the researchers excavate understandings from large bands of data.

Researchers are making use of AI to assist them to mine data for perceptions. This similar method is sued even previously to recognize a possible use of circumstance for magnesium in the handling of a recurrent throbbing headache. Thus, artificial intelligence procedures permit us to identify and modify medical care and follow-up strategies for the best outcomes.

Although AI has not totally progressed to overcome an epidemic, nonetheless, the part of AI is markedly huge at the time of COVID19 as compared to the one that was initially. It is correctly applied as a tool perfecting humanoid intelligence.

To summarize, the entire nation is on the point of transforming numerous sectors during the pandemic with the help of data analytics and artificial intelligence. There already are important dispositions in the backing, nationwide security, fitness care, transport, and so on that have changed decision-making, commercial prototypes, danger extenuation, and organization performance. These expansions are making sizeable social and economic advantages.

The NBA will use artificial intelligence and a tap-to-cheer app feature to help fans stuck at home get in the game – CNN

But knowing what a difference their support can make (home court advantage, anyone?) the NBA is proposing a few solutions: a tap-to-cheer app and video technology that will teleport their faces court-side from the comfort of their homes.

"It's obviously very different for the players and it's different for the fans watching at home. I mean, in this sport -- like a lot of others -- there's that home court advantage, that six-man. It's the roar of the crowd, the boos of the crowd," said NBA commissioner Adam Silver Wednesday on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. "We are trying to replicate that to a certain extent without piping in obvious crowd noise."

It's still unclear what kind of difference this technology will make in the overall atmosphere of a sporting match, though.

Not every attempt has been successful, though.

In South Korea, FC Seoul was fined 100 million Korean won (around $81,000) after being accused of placing sex dolls in its stands to add to the atmosphere during a closed match.

CNN's Jack Guy contributed to this report.

What is artificial intelligence and why is it so famous?

Artificial intelligence is the talk of the town. It is the simulation of human intelligence with the usage of machines and especially the management of the computer system. AI can be categorized in a lot of streams. This means that their primary basis of categorization is dependent on the weakness and how strong they can be. We all know that the application of Artificial intelligence is increasing in this modern world, and each and every technology is managing their resources in the right way. Take, for example, apples voice control uses their Artificial intelligence known as Siri to communicate and get your work done in the best of form.

How is it changing the current scenario?

Here is the list of features and advantages of using Artificial intelligence.

Units of Artificial Intelligence

These are the following units of AI which work for the current period.

All these units of artificial intelligence have different features of their own. These units are fundamental in your life, and they help to paint the whole world. AI is the new simulation of the human, which allows you to process data and include the techniques of learning. We need AI for the work we do. It becomes an automated routine for us to use their units for our daily work. Like take, for example, the usage of robotics is increasing, and it is said to cross a massive platform in a few years. Even though it is a sub-field, it holds as much crucial as the central concept. And if you are interested then you can choose one field and excel in the same.

Does the work for you

Artificial intelligence is changing the current scenario in the way you have never seen before. The smallest of activities are being conducted by them. They dont need to take breaks like us. If you work regularly, then your body might give up on you, but Artificial intelligence wont ever do the same. They are programmed to work for a very long period. They dont need lunch breaks, and neither can they ever get tired. You need to recharge their cells so that they dont shut off.

Gatling Exploration to use artificial intelligence to identify possible gold targets at the Larder project in Ontario – Proactive Investors USA &…

AI experts with Windfall Geotek will use their advanced Computer Aided Resource Detection System to mark targets using pattern recognition and machine learning

Inc ()(OTCQX:GATGF) announced Thursday it will employ artificial intelligence (AI) to identify possible gold targets at the Larder gold project in Ontario.

The company said AI experts with Windfall Geotek will use their advanced Computer Aided Resource Detection System (CARDS) to marktargets which will be evaluated and explored using traditional exploration techniques in upcoming programs.

Gatling's Larder Gold project occupies 3,370 hectares along the Cadillac Larder Lake Break, a prolific structural gold trend. The property hosts three high-grade deposits along the main break, as well as two additional, underexplored gold trends, recently discovered 6 kilometers north.

The company said AI uses pattern recognition and machine learning to make predictions based on compiled datasets. The Larder project benefits from a vast database of recent and historical data, including 2,000 drill holes, 90,000 assays, 1,000 surface rock samples, 500 soil samples, as well as geophysics, Lidar and bedrock geology.

The area to be analyzed has numerous deposits including, but not limited to, Agnico Eagle's Upper Beaver, Kerr Addison, Mistango River Resources' Omega Mine and Gatling's 3 high-grade gold deposits: Fernland, Cheminis and Bear,Gatling said in a statement.

These known gold deposits will be instrumental in guiding the AI, with the goal of highlighting areas on Larder that may be geologically similar to other deposits in the district.

Church body recommends restrictions on Artificial Intelligence – The Tablet

A commission representing the European Union's Catholic bishops has called on EU institutions to follow a "human-centric approach" on Artificial Intelligence, ensuring new information technologies "promote the common good and serve the lives of all human beings".

"AI is a strategic technology that offers many benefits for citizens and the economy - it will change our lives by improving healthcare, increasing the efficiency of farming, contributing to climate change mitigation andadaptation and improving the efficiency of production systems", the COMECE report said. COMECE, aBrussels-based commission, represents the EU's Catholic bishops inside and outwith Europe.

"At the same time, AI entails a number of potential risks, such as gender-based or other kinds of discrimination, opaque decision-making or intrusion into our private lives...AI should work for people and be a force for good in society".

The report, published as part of an EU consultation, said the Catholic Church welcomed attempts to establish a "solid European approach" to AI, which would be "deeply grounded on human dignity and protection of privacy", and cover child safety, data protection, cyber-security and money-laundering.

It added that, while that data and algorithms were "main drivers of Artificial Intelligence", human beings remained responsible for "determining and overviewing" its goals, which should be coordinated at EU level rather than left to national governments.

"AI has to serve the lives of all human beings - human life has not only a personal dimension but also a community dimension", the COMECE report said.

"The Christian perspective sees the human person as qualitatively different from other beings, with a transcendental dignity, intelligent and free, and therefore capable of moral acts. AI systems are not free in the sense the human person is and, in this sense, their actions cannot be judged according to the same moral criteria".

In February, the Vatican's Pontifical Academy for Life published a "Rome Call for AI Ethics" after an international workshop chaired by its president, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia.

The Pontifical Academy invited the leaders of Microsoft and IBM, two of the world's leading developers of AI, to sign a charter calling for an ethical framework for the field of artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk Thinks that Artificial Intelligence Will Be ‘Vastly Smarter’ Than Humans in 5 Years – News18

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has claimed that Artificial Intelligence will be 'vastly smarter' than any human and would overtake us by 2025.

"We are headed toward a situation where AI is vastly smarter than humans. I think that time frame is less than five years from now. But that doesn't mean that everything goes to hell in five years. It just means that things get unstable or weird," Musk said in an interview with New York Times over the weekend.

This is not the first time that Musk has shown concern related to AI. Back in 2016, Musk said that humans risk being treated like house pets by AI unless technology is developed that can connect brains to computers.

He even described AI as an 'existential threat' to humanity.

"I think we should be very careful about artificial intelligence. If I were to guess like what our biggest existential threat is, it's probably that,'' he said.

However, Musk helped found the artificial intelligence research lab OpenAI in 2015 with the goal of developing artificial general intelligence (AGI) that can learn and master several disciplines.

Recently, OpenAI released its first commercial product, a programme to make use of a text-generation tool that it once called too dangerous.

It has the potential to spare people from writing long texts. Once an application is developed on the basis of the programme, all they need to give is a prompt.

OpenAI earlier desisted from revealing more about the software fearing bad actors might misuse it for producing misleading articles, impersonate others or even automate phishing content.
