Clark’s performance boosts Clayton over Moss Point

Clark's performance boosts Clayton over Moss Point By Zach Mayo

Published: 2013-12-27 11:26:00 Updated: 2013-12-27 13:59:39

Updated at 1:59 p.m.

The Clayton Comets bounced back from a first-round loss in the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational's Shavlik Randolph bracket, beating the Mississippi Moss Point Tigers 77-64 on Friday morning.

Cincinnati recruit and Clayton star Gary Clark helped lift the team past the Tigers for its first win in the tournament. Clark came a block away from a triple-double, finishing with the monstrous stat line of 35 points, 22 rebounds and nine blocks.

"It really feels good to play at that level all game and see the outcome of it," Clark said.

After losing to the Apex Cougars on Thursday afternoon, Moss Point jumped to a quick with a three-point shot from Kentucky recruit Devin Booker. Terrance Trussell added another deep shot and the Tigers led 8-0 in the opening minutes.

Clayton battled back later in the quarter and trailed 19-12 at the end of the first eight minutes of play.

The Comets pulled closer in the second quarter, holding Booker scoreless through the first five minutes and only allowing him five points in the quarter. Clayton trailed 30-28 at halftime.

"I thought we started the game pretty well," said Moss Point head coach Micoe Cotton. "We tried to pack it inside and have a few bodies on Clark, but the second half we didn't come out and execute defensively."

BINGHAMTON SENATORS (16-9-0-3) @ UTICA COMETS (10-15-1-1)

Utica Memorial Auditorium, 7 pm

Radio: 94.9 K-Rock

Tonight's Game: The Utica Comets are in search of their fifth consecutive win on home ice this season, and their fourth straight overall, as the Binghamton Senators come to town for the second, and final time this season. The Comets are currently in their fourth of seven games in a row at The AUD.

When They Last Met: Utica was victorious against the Senators, 5-2, in their past meeting on Dec. 13 at The AUD. Captain Colin Stuart scored four goals for the first time in his career, while Joacim Eriksson made 42 saves on 44 shots to earn the victory. Cal O'Reilly also found the back of the net for the Comets while he (1-1-2), Darren Archibald (0-2-2), Benn Ferriero (0-2-2) and Pascal Pelletier (0-2-2) each had multi-point games.

Comets Outlook: Behind a 21 save shutout from goaltender Joacim Eriksson, the Comets won their fourth straight game over the Abbotsford Heat, this by a 3-0 margin. The Comets, who got goals from Kellan Lain, Alexandre Grenier and Benn Ferriero, became the 29th team in the league to reach the double-digit mark in wins on the season. Eriksson's shutout was both the second of not only his career, but also in franchise history.

Senators Outlook: Binghamton won the first half of their back-to-back against the Hershey Bears last evening. Cole Schneider finished with a four-point evening (2-2-4), while teammate Stephane Da Costa added two goals of his own. Fredrik Claussen (0-2-2) and Jim O'Brien (0-2-2) also had multi-point games for Binghamton and Nathan Lawson picked up the victory with 32 saves on 33 shots. Lawson won his second straight game since he returned from injury last week.

Bazooka Joacim: After his 3-0 blanking of the Abbotsford Heat last Friday, Joacim Eriksson is now one of just 10 goaltenders in the AHL with multiple shutouts this season. Eriksson has now won each of his last four starts and the Swede has compiled a 1.48 goals against average and a .953 save percentage in the process.

Ten For Benn: Benn Ferriero scored an empty net marker with two seconds left against the Heat, which not only iced the game but also gave him ten goals on the season. Ferriero, who reached the double-digit plateau for the third time in his career, is also the first player in Comets history to do so.

Game Preview: Syracuse Silver Knights at Missouri Comets and St. Louis Ambush

December 27, 2013 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Syracuse Silver Knights SYRACUSE, N.Y. The Syracuse Silver Knights (5-1) will begin a three-game road swing on Saturday, when they will take on the Missouri Comets (4-1) at the Independence Events Center.

Saturday's match will be broadcast live on YouTube on the Comets' official page. Missouri's coverage will begin at 8:35 p.m. EST. The game will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.

Saturday's meeting is the first match of a busy four day stretch for the Orange, Silver and Black. The Syracuse Silver Knights face the St. Louis Ambush (2-4) on Sunday December 29 and the Milwaukee Wave (4-1) on Tuesday December 31. The road trip is the team's first extended string of fixtures during the MISL season.

The Salt City professional indoor side may be without some key contributors, as the league's total goals leader FW Slavisa Ubiparipovic and target FW LJ Papaleo. The Bosnian and Syracuse native add up to 12 total goals of missing production for the Orange, Silver and Black.

Coach Tommy Tanner's squad saw the return of the MISL's leader in assists, FW Machel Millwood, in Syracuse's last game. The Jamaican dished out two helpers in the rivalry victory for 11 total on the year. Fellow Jamaican teammate Kenardo Forbes is tied for 3rd in the league in points with 22 total on the season.

The Knights are 3-4 all-time against the Comets, however the New York club is win less at 0-4 when playing Missouri in the Independence Events Center. The Orange, Silver and Black split last season's series 2-2 with each team winning their home fixtures.

The Comets are currently a half game behind the first place Silver Knights in the MISL table with a 4-1 record. Missouri has been very strong offensively, having the top two points men in the league with FW Leo Gibson (25) and MF Vahid Assadpour (23). The duo has helped the team lead the league in total points scored with 100. Coach Vlatko Andonovski's squad defeated the St. Louis Ambush 24-13 last Sunday, extending their four-game winning streak.

The Show-Me State club has a connection with the Syracuse Silver Knights. The Orange, Silver and Black acquired now Comets MF Bryan Perez last year in a trade with the Wichita Wings that sent FW Andre Brenzon and FW Matt Clare to Wichita for Perez and FW Jamar Beasley. The ex-Syracuse midfielder tallied eight total goals with seven assists in the Salt City last year.

The Silver Knights will have a quick turnaround after Saturday's match, heading to St. Louis for a date with the Ambush Sunday at 4:35 p.m. EST. Sunday's game will be broadcast live on the club's YouTube page.

St. Louis beat Syracuse 10-6 in New York during their first ever meeting on December 13 for the franchise's premier road victory. The Ambush hold a 1-2 mark at the Family Arena.

Psoriasis – 100% Natural Treatment Shivax®

Psoriasis is a disease that concerns many people of the world.

Usually we can define Psoriasis as an hereditary illness; in fact it is possible to find different people suffering from this pathology within the same family. Very often in the same family you can find many people suffering from different pathologies as follows: adult diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematic, vitiligo and psoriasis, too. The reason stands in the Polygenic nature of these diseases. In other words, the trend to fall ill is written, not on a single gene, but on more genes.

The DNA (genetic code) reveals the predisposition of suffering from Psoriasis, even from the birth.

The characteristic Skin lesions will appear only when a person is in a stress condition. This means that there are too many toxins in the body.

A little example...

In a car we have an instrument cluster, full of lights. They can blink to indicate that something doesn't work. In the "human machine" these lightsare represented by different symptoms. The Psoriasis lesions are warning lights that come out to warn us that there are too many toxins in our body.

But where do they come from ?

HARVEY World Travel in Albury and Wangaratta will be jetting into a new brand over the holiday period.

Helloworld is a super brand created by merging Harvey World Travel, Travelscene, Jetset and Travelworld.

Albury and Wangaratta Harvey World Travel director Adrian Harris hoped it would revolutionise travel by detracting from the old-fashioned brands.

We hope helloworld is a fresher approach to travel, he said.

It will be more of an experience for people because it will be more interactive with iPads so people can do their own research and have the consultants there to help.

Mr Harris said they had the opportunity to not join the new brand but decided that would not be sustainable long term.

It will put us in a bigger pool of like-minded agents around Australia, he said.

Fat Stem Cell Therapy | Medical Treatments Cosmetic Procedures

AUTOLOGOUS Adipose Stem Cells

Stem Cell Therapy is not a new technology. As a matter of fact it has been around for more that 60 years now. The problem is most people know it as a bone marrow transplant. And well when you finish saying that people are already screaming "That's Painful". A bone marrow transplant essentially extracts stem cells from your own bone marrow and then returns them back to you. It has been used to help people suffering from conditions like Leukemia and Lymph Node Cancer.

How does it work? Stem Cells hone in on "chemokine" signals that are secreted by injury. When they arrive they alert regenerative cells to go to work and repair the damage, or grow tissue.

At birth, the human body has around 80 million active stem cells working. At age 40 we have less than 25 million active stem cells working. Therefore it takes longer for the body to heal and in some cases damage is often ignored. This is the aging or degeneration process of the body.

In 1998 a little known about Bio Tech Company discovered that there was an enormous amount of stem cells in abdominal fat, commonly referred to as Adipose fat. In fact there are about 1-2 million stem cells and regenerative cells in 1 cc of abdominal fat. Bone marrow contains less than 10% of that. The stem cells in the abdomen are in a dormant or inactive state. The challenge lay only in how to activate them.

In early 2000 the problem had been solved. A special separation process was used to isolate stem cells from abdominal fat and a perfected heliotherapy process activated the stem cells. These super-charged stem cells were now ready to go to work healing your body.

Fat Stem Cell Therapy has been used for over a decade now as therapy for a variety of medical problems as well as an alternative to painful cosmetic surgery. Fat Stem Cell Therapy can help patients suffering from medical conditions such as, Osteoarthritis, Pulmonary Disease, and Diabetes Type II, as well as some Cosmetic Procedures like Face Lifts, Breast Augmentation, and Anti-Aging.

Infinite Horizons Medical Center and its association with a leading Bio Tech company are able to deliver these high tech therapies with precision, expertise and a level of care which rivals any in the world. These painless medical procedures uses the clients' own adult stem cells to treat clients' medical problems. The procedures themselves take roughly 3.5 - 7 hours to complete.

The procedure involves extracting autologous adipose stem cells, enriching them, activating the enriched stem cells and finally returning these stem cells back into the clients' body. The procedure only requires a local anesthetic, is 100% safe, 100% effective and there is a 0% chance of rejection. For more detailed information see our procedure page.

Infinite Horizons Medical Center has put together an incredible program for clients in search of medical treatment with fat stem cell therapy for, Pulmonary Disorders, like IPF or COPD, Diabetes Type II and Osteoarthritis. It has also put together special programs with fat stem cell therapy for cosmetic procedures like Anti-Aging, Breast Augmentation and Face Lifts.

Stem cells tested to repair hearts

Dr. Aidan R. Raney performs a checkup on heart attack patient Mark Athens, 52, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla. Athens received a stem cell treatment to help his heart recover as part of a clinical trial to determine the treatments safety and effectiveness.

A new stem cell treatment may help heart attack patients do something once thought medically impossible regenerate dead heart muscle.

Scripps Health in La Jolla is one of three centers testing the therapy from Capricor, a Los Angeles biotech company. The cardiac stem cells are meant to boost the hearts natural ability to perform minor repairs. If it works, scars should shrink and functional heart muscle should grow.

Capricor gets the cells from donor hearts, grows them into the amount needed for treatment, then sends them to doctors taking part in what is called the Allstar trial. Doctors inject the cells into the coronary artery, where they are expected to migrate to the heart and encourage muscle regrowth.

The trial has successfully completed Phase 1, which mainly evaluates safety. On Dec. 17, Capricor said it had received permission to begin Phase 2, which will examine efficacy in about 300 patients who will get the treatment or a placebo. More information can be found at clinicaltrials.gov under the identifier NCT01458405.

The Allstar trial is funded with a $19.7 million disease team grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, or CIRM, the states stem cell agency.

This is a highly significant announcement for us at CIRM as its the first time weve funded a therapy into a Phase 2 clinical trial, Chairman Jonathan Thomas said in a Dec. 23 statement.

About 600,000 Americans die of heart disease annually, making it the leading cause of death, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Even those surviving may be left permanently impaired, if the heart is severely damaged. These are the patients Capricor seeks to help.

Mark Athens received Capricors treatment on Sept. 25, about a month after having a moderate heart attack. The Encinitas resident was the last treated under Phase 1, said Scripps cardiologist Richard Schatz, who performed the procedure. It will take about six months to know whether the treatment worked, Schatz said.

Unlike many trials, Phase 1 was not placebo-controlled, so Athens knows he got the therapy. He appeared cheerful, smiling and bantering with his examining doctor during a Dec. 17 checkup at Scripps Green Hospital.
