WOMEN IN SOUTHEAST ASIA ARE EMBRACING SOLO TRAVEL AND WOMENSONLY TRIPS
Thailand, May 8, 2014 TripAdvisor, the worlds largest travel site*, has revealed that women in Southeast Asia are embracing independent travel, according to the findings of its inaugural Women and the World Travel Survey. The study of over 600 women from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia found that one in three (36%) travel alone for leisure, with 43 per cent planning at least 2 solo trips this year.
According to the survey, four in five women (80%) in Southeast Asia cited the ability to do whatever they want without worrying about others as the main reason for travelling without friends or family. When it comes to the destinations for solo travel, four in five (81%) are planning to venture within Asia, followed by exploring their home country (36%) and Europe (36%).
Of those who travelled alone, three in four (75%) women reported that the experience has changed them, with feeling more confident, learning something about themselves and becoming more aware of their surroundings as the top three changes they experienced.
The survey also found that two in five women (41%) go on leisure trips with other women, with more than half (53%) planning at least 2 trips this year. Majority of them cited the ability to enjoy the same activities, followed by bonding with other women as the motivating factors for travelling with other women. Their favourite activities when travelling with other women are shopping (76%), experiencing local cuisine (67%) and indulging in beauty and wellness activities (54%).
Women in Southeast Asia are embracing the positive effects from travelling by themselves or with other women, said Cindy Tan, Vice President, APAC at TripAdvisor. With female travel on the rise whether for business or leisure, it is clear that this traveller segment can no longer be ignored.

The World Responsible Tourism Awards 2014, sponsored by the Oman Ministry of Tourism have now launched - a chance for holidaymakers and the travel industry to honour the heroes and share the stories of the most exciting and enduring responsible tourism experiences in the world.
Organised by responsibletravel.com, the 11 year old Awards search for and celebrate the responsible tourism heroes providing the most memorable holiday experiences while giving back to local communities and the environment.
Holidaymakers and the industry can suggest an Award winner by nominating them at http://www.worldresponsibletourismawards.com/nominations
Justin Francis, Awards founder, and Managing Director of responsibletravel.com commented; The winners we uncover are the heroes and the trendmakers of the industry - those holiday providers with the vision, compassion and originality to shake things up. With the new categories we have a chance to celebrate some new outliers, discover fresh ideas, and add some diverse new holiday experiences to our wish-lists too.
New year, new heroes
This year the Awards have expanded their roster of categories to 12, reflecting some of the key contemporary issues in responsible tourism - including Best animal welfare initiative and Best for people with disabilities.
Voters will also notice new categories for Best city hotel and Best for beach tourism, as well as a new creative category - Best responsible short film - seeking nominations for those films and documentaries that inspire us to take more responsible holidays.
Speaking about the new categories, Harold Goodwin, Chair of the Judges, commented; Animal welfare is an important issue - for UK travelers in particular - and it will be interesting to see what initiatives are nominated. With the rise of YouTube and other video sharing platforms, we are seeing lots of new films. Well be looking for pieces which convey the experience of responsible tourism, where you can see the difference.
Offering a hint of what Judges are expecting with the new people with disabilities category, Goodwin said; I have seen and heard about activity centres in Brazil and South Africa where people with disabilities can take on the same challenges as their friends and family - expect to be surprised and inspired, as I was.

A Transhuman or trans-human is an intermediary form between the human and the hypothetical posthuman.
The etymology of the term "transhuman" goes back to French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin who wrote in his 1949 book The Future of Mankind: Liberty: that is to say, the chance offered to every man (by removing obstacles and placing the appropriate means at his disposal) of 'trans-humanizing' himself by developing his potentialities to the fullest extent.
And in a 1951 unpublished revision of the same book: In consequence one is the less disposed to reject as unscientific the idea that the critical point of planetary Reflection, the fruit of socialization, far from being a mere spark in the darkness, represents our passage, by Translation or dematerialization, to another sphere of the Universe: not an ending of the ultra-human but its accession to some sort of trans-humanity at the ultimate heart of things.
In 1957 book New Bottles for New Wine, English evolutionary biologist Julian Huxley wrote: The human species can, if it wishes, transcend itself not just sporadically, an individual here in one way, an individual there in another way, but in its entirety, as humanity. We need a name for this new belief. Perhaps transhumanism will serve: man remaining man, but transcending himself, by realizing new possibilities of and for his human nature. "I believe in transhumanism": once there are enough people who can truly say that, the human species will be on the threshold of a new kind of existence, as different from ours as ours is from that of Pekin man. It will at last be consciously fulfilling its real destiny. One of the first professors of futurology, FM-2030, who taught "new concepts of the Human" at The New School of New York City in the 1960s, used "transhuman" as shorthand for "transitional human". Calling transhumans the "earliest manifestation of new evolutionary beings", FM argued that signs of transhumans included physical and mental augmentations including prostheses, reconstructive surgery, intensive use of telecommunications, a cosmopolitan outlook and a globetrotting lifestyle, androgyny, mediated reproduction (such as in vitro fertilisation), absence of religious beliefs, and a rejection of traditional family values.
FM-2030 used the concept of transhuman, as an evolutionary transition, outside the confines of academia in his contributing final chapter to the 1972 anthology Woman, Year 2000. In the same year, American cryonics pioneer Robert Ettinger contributed to conceptualization of "transhumanity" in his book Man into Superman. In 1982, American artist Natasha Vita-More authored the Transhuman Manifesto 1982: Transhumanist Arts Statement and outlined what she perceived as an emerging transhuman culture.
Many thinkers today do not consider FM-2030's characteristics to be essential attributes of a transhuman. However, analyzing the possible transitional nature of the human species has been and continues to be of primary interest to anthropologists and philosophers within and outside the intellectual movement of transhumanism.
In March 2007, American physicist Gregory Cochran and paleoanthropologist John Hawks published a study, alongside other recent research on which it builds, which amounts to a radical reappraisal of traditional views, which tended to assume that humans have reached an evolutionary endpoint. Physical anthropologist Jeffrey McKee argued the new findings of accelerated evolution bear out predictions he made in a 2000 book The Riddled Chain. Based on computer models, he argued that evolution should speed up as a population grows because population growth creates more opportunities for new mutations; and the expanded population occupies new environmental niches, which would drive evolution in new directions. Whatever the implications of the recent findings, McKee concludes that they highlight a ubiquitous point about evolution: "every species is a transitional species."

The Supercomputer, also referred as the "Supercalculator",is a quantum supercomputer designed to hold Lyoko, X.A.N.A., and countless actual individuals in its data at the same time. It is housed in theSupercomputer Roombelow the Laboratory.
In Code Lyoko Evolution, the final episode (Ultimate Mission), the supercomputer was shut down again.
The Supercomputer was built by Franz Hopper for the purpose of destroying Carthage. During construction of the supercomputer, Franz Hopper used the Time reversion feature 2,564 times to complete work on the computer. Each time reversion doubles the processing power of the supercomputer, and by extension, X.A.N.A., the Supercomputer is powered by an uranium rod.
The actual Supercomputer is at the lowest level of the Factory where it rises from a hatch with a kind of liquid, most likely liquid nitrogen used for cooling, in the center of the room. The Supercomputer also has a monitoring port a few stories above, but only Jeremie and Aelita can fully understand its potential.
InThe Girl of the Dreams, Jeremy shoutsReturn to the past now! and aTime reversion initiates, even though he has been dragged away from the computer. This may mean that the supercomputer can take voice commands.
In the second season, X.A.N.A. and Aelita were both dependent to the supercomputer's survival. Should it have failed, or ran out of energy, X.A.N.A. would have been destroyed along with Aelita. To that regard, Team Lyoko did not shut down the Supercomputer because of Aelita's dependency to the computer.
In the series finale, the group finally shut down the Supercomputer. Also, in this episode, its hatch is seen with the Eye of X.A.N.A.on it.
The idea of the supercomputer doubling in power with every Return to the Past is probably erroneous - if the supercomputer added a qubit with every return trip, then after Franz was done its data-processing power would be laughable - most likely it takes multiple RTTPs to generate another qubit and increase the processing power. If the processing power truly did double every time, then the number would exceed ten googolplex.
The subject of the fuel rod is also of debate. Uranium's half-life means the battery would not expire for hundreds of years, also Duncan and Jeremie would have been severely poisoned from being around both enriched Uranium and the depleted fuel rod - therefore it seems Lead-210, a Uranium isotope with a twenty-two year half-life, is the used fuel - it only gives off particle radiation, which cannot penetrate the perspex sheath of the fuel rods, and which could be converted to energy by the same process we see in the scanners when a body is destroyed and rebuilt during virtualization and materialization, respectively.
The outer casing of the Supercomputer's resting place while dormant.

A service dog that has come from the brink of death and back was in Terry on Wednesday to receive cutting-edge stem cell therapy.
Davis Hawn said his dog, Booster, saved his life and now he's working to return the favor.
"With Booster by my side, I greet each day knowing we can change the world for the better," Hawn said.
Together, Hawn and Booster helped foster international relations by appearing on TV in Cuba. They reassured Thai orphans infected with the HIV virus that life will be OK and they are loved. The list of accomplishments continued to grow until Booster developed hip dysplasia.
"When Booster couldn't get off the floor, I couldn't get out of bed," said Hawn, who suffers from depression. "Just as assuredly as God put Booster into my life, He again answered the call when I read about the modern day marvel of stem-cell implantation."
Medivet America, a global leader in veterinary science with more than 1,000 clinics in 28 countries, learned of Booster's plight and jumped in to help.
"They arranged to perform a procedure in which they injected Booster's own stem cells into his hips and got him back up and running again," Hawn said. "When I went to pay the bill, they refused to accept payment. I like to say that God paid the bill."
In January 2013, Booster again faced a health battle. He was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and given three weeks to live. An aggressive tumor had eaten through Booster's skull cap and left him writhing in pain. In an effort to save Booster's life, Hawn moved to Florida where the University of Florida operated on Booster and a referral clinic performed radiation therapy.
The University of Minnesota took a piece of the tumor that was removed from Booster and used it to developed the first vaccine for squamous cell carcinoma in dogs.
Booster is now a cancer survivor.

The three stages of enlightenment Spiritual enlightenment is the fundamental goal of most spiritual practices that you undertake. Enlightenment marks the culminating point of your practice you feel unity of soul with everything, all the mental and physical engagements are left aside. Spiritual enlightenment is the possession of highly evolved souls. Spiritual masters from all over over the world experience spiritual enlightenment, and help others on there own paths.
Spiritual enlightenment is often categorized into levels for practical purposes. The highest stage of spiritual enlightenment marks the attainment of unity with God or being one with everything. But can still there are certain levels through which the individual needs to evolve. In a similar way that man has evolved from more primitive animals, the human concisiness or soul also evolves. For our practical purpose, put them in stages and analyze the state of being in each stage:
The first stage of spiritual enlightenmentAt the very first level of enlightenment, the individual starts experiencing reality as it is. It means that your mind ceases to interfere with what you are experiencing. We are engaged in continuous talk, gossip, analyzing the environment around us, planning about future, or worrying about the past. When you are in a state of spiritual enlightenment you are completely in the present moment. You stop judging and labeling the world. Your mind is calm, quite and still. You are very awake, and aware of the current moment right now.
The second stage of spiritual enlightenmentAt the second stage of enlightenment, you feel apart of yourself in everything around you. You feel a connection with every object and individual in the world. The borders between yourself and the world around you dissipate. Your soul begins to merge with Supreme Soul. You feel that you are not individual anymore and not separate from anything. You feel that you are in everything and everything is just a part of the Supreme Soul from where you also have emerged. Many people describe this feelings of completeness and love.
The third stage of spiritual enlightenmentThe third stage of enlightenment, you no longer feel connected to everything but realize you are everything. You the experience the oneness of God and are not separate from anything in the universe. This stage of enlightenment is a direct experience of oneness.
Spiritual enlightenment is the fruit that sets you free, as you lose all wants and wishes to receive the fruits of your actions. You feel the bliss of completeness and true love. At first itgives you the feeling that you need "Light". At the next stage, you feel that you are merging in "Light". And in the final stage you and the "Light" are one.

With so many spiritual gurus and meditation techniques mentioned in the media, and with so much talk about spirituality, it is first necessary to learn precisely what spiritual enlightenment and spiritual awakening are In short, enlightenment is the discovery of our true, eternal self. Beginning at birth, we take on a number of labels about ourselves that we think are real. But since they are in fact impermanent and transitory, these labels cannot be our ultimate self. The only truth is that we are. everything else changes. That which changes cannot ultimately be our real selves. Spiritual enlightenment is the discovery of our real or true self.
Spiritual enlightenment is waking up to who we really are. We can become falsely identified with that which changes. Anything that changes cannot be the true, ultimate reality of what is. When we wake up to who we are, to the eternal being-ness from which everything comes and will return to, we realize that we dont have to suffer and that we can live in the here and now. Mental suffering exists because we falsely identify with our egoistic, mental self. Our real self is eternal, non-dual, and never changing. This discovery of these truths is called spiritual awakening.
One widely accepted tenet is that we all have the spark and potential for spiritual awakening. The state of realization differs. Not every minor realization can be linked to spiritual awakening. Then how do we interpret the meaning of enlightenment? It is more of an experience to be lived than a concept to be understood. It is more nourishing to eat a balanced diet than to read about it. The experience differs, differ from person to person. What we must understand is that the experience of spiritual enlightenment is exclusive for every individual and must be experienced rather than explained.
What exactly leads to the ultimate experience of spiritual enlightenment is also a complex question. When one morning, you see a rose blossoming in your garden, its beauty fascinates you. Have you ever wondered how the flower happened? What were the stepping stones of its existence? Did it originate when the seed sprouted to a bush and the bush started growing, or did it begin then when the bush was being watered? You cant link the roses incredible grace to its origin. If you trace it back to its starting point, you soon realize that there were number of factors which finally led to the blossoming of the rose. Each factor was closely knit with the others, and each factor was indispensible from the whole. In the same way, the journey to spiritual enlightenment is a flowering of the consciousness. The divine mystery is incomprehensible, and is an outcome of many and various outcomes. No one can pinpoint when the flower of spiritual enlightenment will sprout.
Spiritual awakening happens when a human becomes fully conscious of his or her true nature. There are various cosmic forces at work when a soul strives for spiritual enlightenment. The awakening unleashes feelings which were never felt before. You realize that you are beyond your body and in extreme harmony with the universe. With spiritual awareness, your ego is peeled back and you emerge as a more refined person. The deeper you get into your inner self, the deeper the silence gets. The constant clutter of thoughts cease with spiritual awareness and certain joy and serenity engulfs your being. The shackles of mundane desires are broken with spiritual awareness.
Spiritual enlightenment is undoubtedly the primary goal of most of the spiritual practices we undertake. With spiritual awakening, we start accepting reality as it is and stop interfering with what is happening around us. We cease to be judgmental, and start experiencing life in its purest form. Spiritual Enlightenment sets us free to reap the fruits of our actions, uncluttered by too many empty desires. Darkness can only be removed by light, and the light of spirituality illuminates our life with unprecedented knowledge. It banishes all ignorance and casts a spell of eternal joy. Spiritual enlightenment is a shift in awareness where we encounter the non-dual nature of reality and achieve perfect harmony with the world around us.
There is no definitive path to spiritual enlightenment. Some achieve it through meditation, some by fasting, and others by occult means. The ways are different, but the goal is the same: finding answers to lifes basic questions. That is the very reason why so many people are embracing spirituality in todays world of science and rationality. Once the quest to spiritual awakening rises in a person, all the cosmic forces gather to escort him.
