Count liberty among our blessings this Thanksgiving – cleveland.com

As an American Ahmadi Muslim, I look forward every year to Thanksgiving - a holiday often associated with reflection and thankfulness for all that we have. Despite all the conflict and uncertainty in the world, we have much to be thankful for.

Islam stresses thankfulness yearround, both to God and to his creations. It is stated in the Holy Quran, Surely, Allah is gracious towards mankind, but most of them are not thankful (10:61).

The Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) has also stated: One who is not thankful to people, is not thankful to Allah.

I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe Thanksgiving. I hope everyone can take this holiday as an opportunity to ponder and reflect upon how blessed we are to live in a great nation where we are granted basic liberties and have access to the basic necessities of life.
