20th OctoberToday we walked up the Cares gorge from Poncebos to Cain a 22km round trip. It was a brilliant walk with sheer drops little tunnels and lots of goats. We also saw a wall creeper the first I have ever seen. The path follows an amazing canal built in the early 190039s high up the gorge which flows through 70 tunnels and still takes water to the hydroelectric plant today.21st Octob

Pemberton is a country town set amongs forests and fertile farm land.Tourism is a key part of the towns economy and offers all the usual facilities including a very informative visitor centre. The Pemberton Tram is a famous ride through the forests over an old logging track. An impressive steam loco is there also but looks to be under repair at the moment. Now for the good stuff. say goodbye to travel 2011
It was a long bus journey with 2 police check point before you could get to Baoshan just right in time for the only direct bus at 11am heading to Lincang to finish a day journey. Then through Jinggu and Ninger I need to sleep another night in Mojiang. My plan was travel through Sancun where I had never been to and then reach Honghe but find out the road was still blocked so I took the Yungjian
Saigon or should I say Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City or is it Saigon is less than an hour away by bus close enough even for a day trip. From TDM the 616 bus takes you right into the centre. Sadly for us one never appeared and we took a small minibus instead which took us to the outskirts of the city. We then had a short taxi ride in.Our first stop was not cultural The Coffee Bean Tea Leaf was a pit stop for coffee. Vietna

Tokyo
After an 11hour flight out of Los Angeles I landed at Narita Airport outside Tokyo. From there I would have to take a train for over an hour more before reaching my destination. As I looked out the train window I saw mostly farmland at first but the population density quickly increased before exploding as the train entered Tokyo. By the time I arrived at Asakusabashi station it was already

Back roads Japan Style
We woke up to rain on Saturday. We ate in the communal dining room at the lodge with bicyclists from all over the world. We left around 900 and took the back roads most of the way back to Matt39s place. The drive was spectacular and there were almost no cars on most of the roads.
