BAFTA Awards Red Carpet 2015: Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams & More

Getty

So many stunning looks and talents, its hard to even know where to look. The red carpet for the 68th BAFTA Awards was full to the brim with incredible stars who made incredible films in 2015. Among those who walked the red carpet were hunks Benedict Cumberbatch, David Beckham and Tom Hiddleston. But the ones who really made a splash were the ladies.

Reese Witherspoon turned heads in one of her most glamorouslooks of the award season. The nominee andWild star looked anything but at the big night in aplunging purple fitted gown with no jewelry to distract onlookers from her show-stopping cleavage.

Meanwhile, Amy Adams went for a very sleek and chic style for her moment across the pond. While more conservative than weve seen her in lately, Amy made sure her cream colored, floor lengthdress had a blinged-out belt that anyone could see along the carpet. She also opted out of wearing any outlandish jewelry but then again with that many studs on her belt, who needs it!

And lest us not forget Rosamund Pike, a girl we hope never goes too far from anyred carpet. She dazzled in a long, black, flowing halter dress that allowed her shoulders to steal the show. Very glamorous indeed!

At the time of the red carpet, the coveted BAFTA Award was literally for the taking formany absurdly talented projects. Though leading the pack with 11 nominations,The Grand Budapest Hotel may have a hard time competing against challengers Birdman and The Imitation Game, both with 10.

But if you ask us, the real coup will be if The LEGO Movie, which was brutally snubbed by The Oscars, wins a BAFTA for Best Animation. Hopefully, the Brits will get it right and give the film the recognition it so rightfully deserves. That would make everything, well, awesome!

What say you, Hollywoodlifers? Are you loving the BAFTAs so far?

Make-up for Redheads – Schwarzkopf – Trendy Looks | Hair …

Time has done away with many rules. No longer is the eye make-up of redheads restricted to the color green. Of course, peat, olive and khaki still bring out the special beauty of redheads but now you can add other colors to your eye make-up as well. There are for example warm eye-shadows like gold, copper, cinnamon, rust and nutmeg, which blend harmoniously with the special features of redheads. If you are about to create a particularly sophisticated look you should reach for contrast colors like lilac, plum, teal or turquois. You may of course also dispense with eye shadow altogether and use nothing but an eye-liner to create soft accents.

Redheads often have light eyelashes but the generous application of mascara creates expressive eyes. You can lengthen short lashes by using extension mascara. Very light skin often forms a hard contrast with black mascara. In such cases, brownish-black mascara is a better choice.

Dont shy away from smokey eyes for your evening make-up! Smokey eyes work well with redheads if the rest of the make-up is understated. You should however avoid deep black shades and rather reach for gold, brown or gray tones.

Red-hot Kane strikes twice to sink Arsenal

LONDON: Harry Kane struck twice as Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to beat fierce rivals Arsenal 2-1 and enter the Premier League's top four after a fractious north London derby on Saturday.

Mesut Ozil had opened the scoring for Arsenal against the run of play when he volleyed in Oliver Giroud's miscued shot from close range after 11 minutes.

The visitors then stood firm in the face of continuous Tottenham attacks but Kane broke their resistance with his 21st goal in all competitions this season 11 minutes after the interval after Arsenal had failed to clear a corner.

The dominant hosts poured forward in search of a winner and Kane duly obliged, the striker planting a brilliant header beyond the desperate dive of David Ospina four minutes from time to secure victory for Spurs.

Tottenham climbed above Arsenal and Southampton into fourth place in the table, a Champions League qualification spot.

Leaders Chelsea travel to Aston Villa, second-placed Manchester City host Hull City and Everton and Liverpool meet in the Merseyside derby later on Saturday.

England must silence Millennium Stadium – Back

SILENCER: George Ford will start at first-five for England in their Six Nations opener against Wales in Cardiff.

England must "smash everything in red", maintain cool heads and silence a raucous Millennium Stadium crowd when they meet Wales in their Six Nations championship opener in Cardiff on Friday (Saturday NZT), England World Cup winner Neil Back said.

Stuart Lancaster's side suffered a humiliating 30-3 defeat on their last visit to the Welsh capital in 2013, a painful loss that ended their grand slam hopes and handed Warren Gatland's side a second successive title.

"England have got to silence the Welsh crowd. That's their job," Back, an integral part of England's 2003 World Cup-winning side, told Reuters.

"The first 15 minutes of each half will be absolutely critical to England's aspirations in this game.

"Drive the Welsh into their half, get on the scoreboard and smash everything that is in red. If they can create a quiet Millennium Stadium that will be a truly beautiful thing."

The Friday evening blockbuster is a pre-cursor to their World Cup pool meeting on September 26 and Back said it was vital for England to land a "psychological blow".

But the former flanker is concerned about England's preparations for the Six Nations, the number of injuries that have forced Lancaster's selection hand and the lack of settled players in key positions.

"England's major concerns at the moment are not necessarily with the level of injuries because we have quite a depth of players, better than anyone else," said the former British and Irish Lion.

SALT LAKE CITY It's the middle of the season and the fourth-ranked Utah gymnastics team remains undefeated (6-0, 2-0 Pac-12). It's coming off a tremendous win against Pac-12 rival Arizona, scoring its season-best overall score (197.85) thanks to nine of 13 gymnasts earning career-bests in at least one event.

It was a huge win and a lot of fun," said co-head coach Megan Marsden. "We felt like the girls finally unleashed and did what we have seen in training,

The Utes score ties with top-ranked Oklahomas season-high score. Marsden described the score as reassuring to know the team is at the very top.

As much as its difficult, it is the way we have move to the postseason to the Super Six, she added.

Nationally, the Red Rocks are ranked fourth on bars and beam, fifth on vault and tied for sixth on floor.

Floor ranking the lowest is no surprise to the team. Before the season began, the coaches decided not to do a lot of hard landings on the floor mat. The goal: keeping the athletes healthy throughout the long season.

Red Devils adjusting to life without Rafferty

HINSDALE For much of the past four years, Hinsdale Centrals boys basketball program hasnt known life without Matt Rafferty.

Now Grant Hutcherson and his Red Devil teammates are learning how to play without Rafferty, a standout senior forward who broke his right hand in a Jan. 23 game against York and could miss most of the rest of the season.

Weve been trying to keep our heads up for sure, Hutcherson said. Its definitely a blow seeing Raff go. Obviously hes our star, but were still confident in what we can do as a team and we know we can still get some wins without him, so weve practiced hard and focused on some different roles because we had to switch around some peoples roles.

Hutchersons role is one that has changed. The Red Devils sixth man at the start of the season, he saw more action in the post during a 51-47 loss against Oak Park-River Forest on Jan. 30 since George Kiernan missed the game to attend his grandmothers wake.

The Red Devils lost 61-49 against Glenbard West on Saturday to fall to 1-2 without Rafferty. They are 17-4 overall and 6-2 in the West Suburban Silver heading into Fridays 6 p.m. game at Proviso West.

Two-time defending WSS champs, the Red Devils now sit one game behind Lyons Township for the Silver lead, but their conference standing is not altering their overall goals.

Our goal is always just to play as well as we can and play at our full potential, so we never talk about number of wins or going undefeated or anything like that, Hinsdale Central head coach Nick Latorre said. We just say, Lets go out and play, improve and play as well as were capable of playing.

Against OPRF, Central saw Hutcherson (12 points), Thomas Ives (13 points) and Jordan Bradshaw (11 points) lead a balanced scoring effort. Hutcherson scored nine points in the first half, Bradshaw put up seven in the third quarter and Ives tallied eight in the final frame. Bradshaw and David Northey hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Red Devils a 27-26 third-quarter lead, but the Huskies pulled away down the stretch.

No matter who is on the floor, the Red Devils wont lack for work ethic.

This week were going to bust our butts even harder, learn our roles even better and try to get more comfortable with where were at and try to get more wins, Hutcherson said. Were a family and were gonna keep going hard and try to do something special this season.

Up-Trending Season Ends For Red Devils on Road

Published: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:55 p.m. Last Modified: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:55 p.m.

WESLEY CHAPEL | Kathleen's boys soccer team saw one of its best seasons ever end Tuesday night.

Facing Wesley Chapel Wiregrass Ranch, MaxPreps.com's No. 9-ranked team in the state, the Red Devils fell behind in the first half and couldn't make it up, losing 3-0 to the Bulls before a crowd of about 400 at Wiregrass Ranch Stadium. The Bulls will take on defending state champion Melbourne in the regional final on Friday.

The loss ended Kathleen's season at 22-9. But coach Michael Locke likes the direction the team is heading.

"The fact that we finally got a district championship after finishing runner-up three times is huge," Locke said. "We started the season well and ended the season well. I couldn't ask for a better team. We played hard."

The effort of the Red Devils is one thing Locke didn't have to question this season and he didn't have to question it Tuesday.

The Red Devils played with the Bulls evenly through the game's first 13 minutes. Then Wiregrass Ranch's (26-1-1) Brendan Duran scored the first goal.

The Bulls then got two goals three minutes apart by Andy Hippely to take a 3-0 lead at the half.

Kathleen had chances to pull closer before halftime but a diving header by Brayan Perez skirted past the open net; an Andrew Yarnell blast slipped wide and a Geness Kennedy blast went just high over the crossbar.

The second half Wiregrass Ranch was happy to drop back and not let any Kathleen slip anything by. For the Red Devils, no heads were down following the contest.

Red Devils edge Clippers to give Roffler 500th career win

Ryan Lee was fighting the flu, but he wasnt going to let the illness keep him from his mission.

His assignment, along with his Lower Columbia College teammates, was to beat South Puget Sound and get mens basketball coach Jim Roffler his 500th career victory.

Lee posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Michael Dupree had a game-high 22 points as the Red Devils claimed a 72-69 win in NWAC Western Division play in newly-renovated Myklebust Gymnasium on Saturday.

The victory, the fourth straight for the 10th-ranked Red Devils, moved them to 7-2 in league and 15-7 overall. It capped a busy night that included christening the new gymnasium and fitness center and the halftime introduction of the newest inductees into the LCC Athletic Hall of Fame.

Fittingly, like many of Rofflers other 499 triumphs, his milestone win was what he referred to as a grinder.

It was a classic grinder like weve had through the years, Roffler said. The guys didnt quit, were very coachable and found ways to make plays and get it done. There was a real calmness along with a toughness to our approach down the stretch.

The Devils, who trailed 39-32 at halftime, used consecutive 3-pointers from Jamie Ford along with free throws from Lee and Dupree to grab a 58-57 advantage their first lead of the game with 7:12 left.

We had a bad start to the game and went back to doing things weve tried to get away from, Roffler said. Its difficult to coach at this level with so many new faces each year that theyre having to learn on the job. Were still a work in progress.

LCCs lead lasted 14 seconds until DeRon Kyle drilled a 3 from the left corner for a 60-58 Clippers lead.

At this point we tried to manage the game and get everyone on the same page, Roffler said. We wanted to be most solid at this phase of the game.

Dita Von Teese and Conchita Wurst turn heads as they cosy up in Paris for gala

Dita Von Teese and Conchita Wurst turned heads in their striking outfits at the Sidaction Gala Dinner in Paris.

Wearing her hair in her signature style, Dita added a slick of red lipstick to finish of her classic Hollywood style, while wearing an a-symmetric Cadbury-purple gown.

The star looked like she was being unwrapped as the lapel detail appeared to reveal a cleavage boosting corset beneath.

While Eurovision song contest winner Conchita looked very stylish in a gold and black sequinned dress.

The bearded-lady accessorised with a chunky spiked gold belt and huge earrings with both stars choosing to go necklace-free.

It's been a busy day for Dita, who earlier had joined Cheryl Fernandez-Versini at at the Ralph & Russo show .

Red Cross volunteer heads to Boston

Red Cross volunteer Sarah Perkins of Henrietta will head to Boston on Thursday to aid relief efforts.(Photo: Provided)

Henrietta resident Sarah Perkins knows a thing or two about disasters. As an American Red Cross volunteer for the last nine years, she's assisted with local disasters like house fires, and aided national relief efforts after hurricanes, wildfires or tornadoes.

Now, the Red Cross is sending her to Boston to assess the damage after a snowstorm dropped 2 feet of snow on the city Monday.

Perkins has a varied background in careers like the military, law enforcement, ranching and typography.

"I thought, 'There must be some reason why I've acquired all these skills and interests,' " said Perkins, adding that her expertise in these fields allowed her to work well on disaster scenes. "There's so many ways and opportunities for me to serve it all comes into play here."

Her job at the Rochester Red Cross chapter is disaster assessment going into disaster scenes after the fact and collecting information on damages and future needs, and tweaking future responses based on that data.

Perkins will leave early Thursday for Boston and plans to "hit the ground running," she said.

One of the biggest demands there right now is shelters, and that will be an ongoing Red Cross effort for the next few days. She'll have support from Red Cross leaders coming in from Buffalo and New Hampshire, and will work with local Red Cross teams to get the job done, she said.

Her first order of business will be to assess flood damage at homes along the coast, and her initial deployment will last for two weeks.

"But we never know how long we can be gone," Perkins said she helped with Hurricane Sandy relief for 28 days in 2012.
