International Space Station Orbiting Earth – Video

International Space Station Orbiting Earth
3D model of the International Space Station orbiting earth, composed with Hitfilm 2 Ultimate and Blender. ISS model provided by NASA. I wasn #39;t happy with the Earth textures in this render, so I went searching for new ones, and it looks much better on new previews. I #39;ll need to figure out the flickering issue with parts of the ISS, and I can easily fix that light flare issue in the next render. ISS model did not initially import correctly in Hitfilm, so I had to put the entire thing together piece by piece. Should be updating with new views and effects soon. As always, comments and suggestions welcome. Render time was about 2 hours. Shaping the Drapes – Video

Shaping the Drapes
http://www.astropage.eu This movie sequence from Cassini shows dark drapes in the inner strands of the F ring caused by the gravitational influence of the shepherd moon Prometheus (86 kilometers, 53 miles across). Prometheus appears first in the sequence, interior to the F ring, and Pandora (81 kilometers, 50 miles across) follows along outside of the ring. Radial structure in the bright core of the ring is visible throughout the movie. Prometheus orbits closer to Saturn, and thus faster, than the icy particles that make up the F ring. The moon passes comes closest to the ring at "apoapse", when it is farthest from Saturn. It is during these apoapse passages that Prometheus has its greatest influence on the fine ring material. With time, the ring material previously affected falls behind so that on the next apoapse passage of Prometheus, a new gore in the inner ring material is made. The material closer to Prometheus orbits the planet faster than the material closer to the bright F ring core. The gores, together with the sheared-out material due to differential orbital motion, create the dark, diagonal drapes. Several background stars are seen moving across the field during the movie. The visible light images in this sequence were acquired using the narrow angle camera on April 13, 2005 from a distance of approximately 1.2 million kilometers (700000 miles) from Saturn. Kepler Space Telescope – Video

Kepler Space Telescope
KEPLER CONTINUES MISSION -- ARC. NASA has announced the successful completion of the Kepler space telescope #39;s baseline mission to search for planets in other solar systems. Since its launch in 2009, scientists using Kepler have identified more than 100 exoplanets and another 23-hundred-plus candidates. Charlie Sobek, Kepler Mission Deputy Project Manager: "The tapestry of everything that goes on in the Kepler. It #39;s really a team mission. It #39;s an enormous number of people who come together to make this kind of mission happen." In April of this year, NASA awarded the Kepler mission up to four more years of funding, allowing the telescope to continue its planetary census and to help scientists better understand solar system and planetary formation.From:okrajoeViews:0 0ratingsTime:00:42More inScience Technology

How to Spot the Space Station – Video

How to Spot the Space Station
SPOT THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION - JSC. #ISS. A new NASA service will help sky watchers pinpoint where and when the International Space Station will make an appearance in the skies above them. NASA #39;s "Spot the Station" service sends a text or email to anyone with an email account or an SMS-enabled phone to alert them when the ISS is scheduled for a flyover in the area. Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center compiles sighting opportunities for 4600 locations worldwide. To sign up, visit spotthestation.nasa.gov. Psy of the Dead – Twinkle (a reimagining of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) – Video

Psy of the Dead - Twinkle (a reimagining of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)
This is my take on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star... and it goes a little something like this: Twinkle, twinkle little star, I know exactly what you are, Mostly hydrogen some helium too, Formed 4.6 billion years ago. Twinkle, twinkle little star, Thermonuclear fusion at your core, You burn at the centre of the Solar System, You have a G2V stellar classification. Twinkle, twinkle little star, 109 times the Earths #39; diameter, The Orion-Cygnus arm of the Milky Way, Perfectly spherical, that #39;s where you spend your days. Farside Eruption from The Sun CME – Video

Farside Eruption from The Sun CME
It is very hard to see it with this video. Pay attention to the "Bottom Right" of The Sun. It isn #39;t very good video to show it. No strong flares have issued from the sun in weeks, but solar activity might not be as low as it seems. The farside of the sun is increasingly restless. On Dec. 21st, multiple CMEs flew over the edge of the solar disk, and today NASA #39;s STEREO-A spacecraft observed a filament erupting on the farside. This activity suggests that the long-term forecast could be stormy. In one to two weeks, active regions currently on the farside will turn toward Earth, possibly sending some flares and CMEs our way.
