Wolves in Austria: Nathan Judah and Tim Spiers’ Day 5 diary – expressandstar.com

It was raining cats and dogs in the mountains, I could barely make out the local cafe that has looked after us so well during this trip.

One thing that was still functional was the crazy robotic lawnmower in the neighbours garden.

This piece of technology has to be seen to be believed, but the couple who we've been spying on throughout the week have worked the little man into the ground.

Every day that poor thing is up and down the lawn, there's no blades of grass left! And the wife was even on her hands an knees yesterday using scissors to even things out!

Is this normal behaviour?!

TS: I don't really think you're one to talk. You're a man in his 30s who wears Where's Wally? pyjamas. Every. Single. Night.

The podcast was the main task about town today! It's been a few weeks in the making... you may have noticed some new artwork thanks to a man we've paid handsomely.

It's a fresh revamp and will now exclusively be about Wolves and Wolves-only this season...so make sure you set your notifications as I think we'll have plenty to talk about over the next few weeks.

As we got in the car to grab a quick coffee, Spiers wasn't too happy with my request to drive up to the door to pick me up...nobody wants to get wet do they?! Plus I had heels on!

TS: It was literally 20 yards away. Mind you it was a good job you weren't trying to drive that far, you'd still be trying to reverse it now.

Daily vid was next on the cards. Pretty easy location shoot today as we filmed from our very own balcony due to weather issues.

My attire was slightly grim reaper, but others on Twitter saw it as another photoshop opportunity. Magnificent effort from @Mr94Official here.

Lots to say though...we always end up running over our predicted time, but no bloopers on this occasion so all was well.

That was until we tried to upload it onto YouTube. All video editing has been done at the team hotel from a video point of view. Despite the more than useful wifi in our kitchen, it appears uploading to film is a non starter.

Four hours later (for an eight minute video), we finally had got the damn thing on the website.

There was even a rainbow outside celebrating the occasion.

Our aim was to have some down time in Innsbruck on the night as we've been recluses for the last five days.

But Bodvarsson, Iorfa and a ground/kick-off change for Saturday's game delayed plans somewhat.

Still with most of the work done or near to completion, we were not to be defeated.

What went on next are events that are not, will not and have never been endorsed by the Express and Star.

TS: (Hic) I love you man

Love you more

TS: jfdkfnidgngnodgphjpgjhopgohxfjo#

Those are just random letters, go and drink some water

See you all tonight for the game.

Facebook lets you make GIFs using its built-in camera – here’s how – Pocket-lint.com

Facebook's mobile app offers a new feature: GIF-making.

As discovered by The Next Web, the social network has quietly updated the app's camera with the option to make a short GIF, which you can then share in a Facebook Story or on your profile. There are even ways to edit the GIF with frames and filters. Keep in mind Facebook only recently started embracing GIFs, as it allowsusers to send them in messages and post them in comments.

Anyway, here's everything you need to know about the new GIF-making feature, including how it works.

To make your own GIF, open the Facebook app and tap on the camera button at the top. Or, open the Facebook app and swipe from lefton the news feed. Either way, you will see these tabs at the top of the next screen: Normal and GIF. Normal lets you take photos and record normal videos, while GIF lets you record a three-second clip.

You'll want to select the GIF option, obviously, at the top of the camera screen in order to record your GIF. Once you record a three-second GIF, you will see additional editing tools, including frames, emoji, text, and effects. After you're done customising the GIF, you can then save the final creation to your phone's camera roll, upload it to your Facebook Story, or post it to your profile.

You can even set the GIF as your profile picture. To turn a static profile picture into a GIF, click Edit in the bottom right corner of your existing profile picture and tap Select Profile Video. This will open your camera roll and your list of videos. Select your GIF, maybe trim it, and tap Save.

You can only share GIFs on Facebook. They save as videos and can't be sent to other platforms through Facebook.

The GIF-making feature is slowly rolling out now, so you may not see the option just yet. It's also unclear when or if everyone will get access to it, as Facebook hasn't officially announced the feature.

Studio Session: Mura Masa Calls on ASAP Rocky and Desiigner for New Self-Titled Album – XXLMAG.COM

Yoni Lappin

A leap of faith can change your whole life. For producer Mura Masa, it was moving from his small town in Guernsey, British Isles to London in order to make his music dreams a reality. The modest 21-year-old, born Alex Crossan, started uploading beats to SoundCloud when he was 18 and distanced himself from the crowd, literally and figuratively, by moving to the U.K. city in 2015, and dropping an EP,Someday Somewhere.

Mura is known for meshing together afrobeat, dancehall and deep house to create breathy party anthems. When I started to upload to SoundCloud and kind of gain a following and in the internet age, its really easy to put stuff out there and get feedback from other people, Mura tells XXL. I appreciate that.

Now, the English export is slowly making his presence known in the hip-hop space on and offline. In the past year, Mura has convinced A$AP Rocky to jump on the remix to his breakout track Love$ick, spontaneously linked with Desiigner for All Around the World and assisted on Stormzys debut album,Gang Signs & Prayer. Taking his stateside crossover to new heights, Mura performed for his biggest U.S. crowd yet during Weekend 1 of 2017 Coachellaand Rocky even showed love with a surprise performance during the set.

Mura is using this momentum to drop his self-titled debut album out nowviaApple Music. Before he released the LP via Downtown/Interscope Records and his own label, Anchor Point, the upstart chopped it up with XXL about getting hooked on hip-hop thanks to Lil Jon, working with Rocky and more.

XXL: What did you listen to growing up?

Mura Masa: Growing up, I listened to a lot of pop and rock. My dad was in a rock band in the 80s in Glasgow, Scotland. So it started from there. My mom also got me into like Jane Mitchell and lots of different things. I distinctly remember I started listening to hip-hop when I heard that Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, that Get Low tune. I kind of started to listen to rap after that.

For producing, I kind of got into J Dilla very early on and yeah, so I grew up listening to lots of types of music really. When it came to music, my dad, he listened to everything from like, punk and heavy metal to funk and jazz. His influence on me was just keeping an open mind, I guessnot being opposed to experiment and kind of mix different types of music.

You say you got hooked on rap thanks to Lil Jon. What stood out to you about Lil Jons Get Low?

First of all, the beat is just like, absolutely slaps. Up until then Id never really heard anything like that before. Im from a really remote place called Guernsey. Its like a tiny island. So hearing that type of music for the first time, just how explicit it was and how sexual it was, that was a real eye-opener.

What inspired you to start producing music of your own?

I guess I was playing in a lot of punk bands and rock bands as a kid, stuff like that. But then when I started to produce I started listening to things like Hudson Mohawke and a lot of G.O.O.D. Music producers like Mike Dean. It really interested me of who producers kind of fill that role of playing every instrument themselves. Im a big fan of Prince as well because hes like a one-man band. It was just that interest in having control over all elements of the music.

What instruments do you play?

I play a bit of everything. I dont play anything particularly amazingly but I play a little bit of guitar and drums, keyboard, bass guitar and just a lot of traditional instruments. I guess coming from that background it was quite interesting to mix that with more electronic sounds.

What drew you to working with A$AP Rocky for the Love$ick remix?

Well, I first heard about Rocky when he dropped Live.Love.ASAP. I just remember that video of him walking out the corner store and being like, I be that pretty motherfucka, and all that. I was just a big fan of him from early on. So when it came to finding a rapper to work with on this debut album, I really wanted it to be someone I was a big fan of and who I believed in. And Rocky spends a lot of time in London and kind of calls it his second home.

He was in town for a film premiere I think and he had heard the original version of Love$ick and he got it contact with me and told me he really enjoyed it. So we met up at Abbey Road Studios, which is you know [laughs] where the Beatles did all that stuff. So that was pretty crazy itself. And we just met up this past September or [October] and just talked about lots of things like fashionTame Impala. We just shot the shit basically and got chatting for a while. And while we were doing that, he was just freestyling over the instrumental and I kind of took that away and made it what it is on the record.

Rocky has been spotted a lot in the studio lately. Did you get to work on anything more besides Love$ick? Did you work on anything for his new album or maybe Cozy Tapes?

Yeah, we hung out in London a lot. I think hes just kind of getting ideas together at the moment and deciding what hes going to do next. We definitely worked on some other stuff but you know how it goes. Im sure hes got hundreds of songs on the go but theres definitely an ongoing relationship there.

And then how did you get Desiigner on All Around the World?

That was a bit of a weird one actually. Id had that beat laying around for like a year and I didnt actually know that Desiigner had gotten a hold of it. So one day, I was in L.A. and I actually was working in the Interscope Studios across from Kendrick [Lamar] while he was working on DAMN. [Laughs] Kendrick actually came across and said, Hey. That was cool.

So, anyway, the same day that that was happening, we got an email from Desiigners people saying, Desiigners in the booth, hes tracking something now. And we asked, Whats he writing to? We have no idea what youre talking about. And then they sent us All Around the World. He hadnt done any verses on it yet it was just the choruses and those Desiigner ad-libs.

So I had to kind of coax some verses out of him, but I just really like Desiigner. I think that like a lot of people try to shit on him because hes so young and hes kind of just doing his own thing but hes just like a really amazing character. Thats what I like about [the song.] Its something a bit different from him and something a bit different from me. Its good how we met in the middle.

A lot of your beats are a mash-up of house, trap, future bounce. What is it about that intrigues you about trap and hip-hop?

I think the energy of it. Its so easy to nod your head to a hip-hop beat or its easy to dance to a trap beat because its ingrained in popular culture now. The culture of hip-hop and the legacy of these artists is just like a deep appreciation. Obviously learning about how deep the culture goes, I find that interesting.

Who are some of your favorite rappers right now?

Some of my favorites right now, I really like Playboi Carti. I think once he comes out of his shell a bit more, I think hell kind of blow up in a nice way. I really like XXXTentacion. I really enjoy how hes bringing punk into rap a bit more. Same with Lil Uzi Vert.

Who are some other producers youre influenced by right now?

Mike Dean, Hudson Mohawke because hes from Glasgow and hes signed to G.O.O.D. Music. Hes worked on a lot of Kanyes stuff. Rick Rubin as well. Ive always looked up tho Rick Rubin. I love his approach and attitude to creating music.

What was your favorite studio session in putting the whole album together?

I think the session with Rocky was an amazing one. I think just freestyling with him on the spot and freestyling off the top of his head. You never know what youre going to get with rappers. Whether theyre more methodical and write it all down or whether theyll make it up as they go.

What do you want fans, especially hip-hop fans, to learn about you with this debut album?

I guess its interesting for people who come from more of a hip-hop background to hear a couple of different sounds that maybe they werent expecting. Theres a lot of different types of tracks on the album, kind of like a musical collage. Im curious to see from people that will be the reaction of people who learned about me through hip-hop, what they make of it.

Who else are you working with this year on the hip-hop side?

Im not sure if I can disclose that. Deals have to be made and that sort of thing. Theres definitely more stuff from me. Im really looking up to people from James Blake at the moment for his work with Vince Staples and Jay-Z and Kendrick and stuff like that. Hes kind of the proof that English producers can really make an impact on the sound of American hip-hop.

Who else do you want to work with that you havent yet?

I dont know. I like to keep it quite open. I think that you should be able to collaborate with another as long as the musics good and youre a fan of them. I will say Vince Staples is doing some amazing stuff with the kind of U.K. influence hes bringing in. So yeah, Vince Staples would be a good one. I havent had the opportunity to [work with Vince] but hopefully we get connected at some point.

What else do you have planned for the rest of the year after the album drops?

Were doing a pop-up shop with exclusive merch weve done with designers and stuff. Lots of new music. Ive got a record label that Ill be releasing music under called Anchor Point Records. And I think I want to drop another beat tape soon. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Here’s seven top tips on how to avoid online ticket sale scams – Devon Live

Comments(0)

Summer is here and festival season is upon us - so that means a packed calendar of events ranging from festivals to music gigs.

However, while it is peak time for entertainment, the busy events season can also be a favourite time of year for online ticket scams.

A woman from Exeter and her sister were a victim to this kind of scam after they travelled to Cardiff to see Coldplay perform - only to get there and to be told their tickets had already been used.

Liz Silk, 64, travelled to Cardiff from Exeter, Devon, with her sister Gillian Benjamin, 66, to see the band on their first night of their visit to Cardiff.

The pair were only told when they tried to enter Principality Stadium staff that the tickets had already been used and they were left devastated.

With that in mind, here is the advice that the FraudHelpDesk website has published online as to how to avoid concert ticket fraud.

1. Check the seller's Facebook profile Many fraudsters quickly create a fake profile on Facebook, offering tickets to a concert or event, preferably one that is sold out. Their scams involve consumers paying for tickets and not receiving them, and paying for tickets but receiving fake ones.

If the Facebook account has been created recently, the chances are that you're dealing with a con artist. More sophisticated fraudsters manipulate their posts and change the date on them to make them look older. You can check this by clicking on the clock icon at the top right of a posted message or image. It will pop up the original posting date.

2. Check the number of Facebook friends and 'likes' To camouflage fake profiles, fraudsters will send friend requests to a large group of people. After all, there will always be a few among them who will accept any request that comes in.

Having 'friends' makes a fake Facebook profile look considerably more authentic. However, there is no exchange of messages on these fake profiles and the number 'likes' is limited. This gives them away, so always check this before you buy any tickets.

3. TicketSwap This website is designed to (re)sell concert tickets and is a lot safer than Facebook. Scams cannot be ruled out on TicketSwap, but the chances are definitely smaller. The website checks the reseller's Facebook profile, bank details and phone number. The seller will have to take the trouble to upload the ticket on the site, which they will if they are bonafide.

4. Check whether the seller is active elsewhere Scammers have a preference for sold out concerts or events. Check whether the seller offering the tickets you want to buy is also selling tickets for other concerts. If this is the case, then the chances are that you are dealing with a scammer.

Close-up image of software engineer typing on laptop

5. Always pay with online banking Many resellers prefer to sell their tickets to people who have an account with the same bank. The money transfer will proceed more quickly. Scammers have found a solution for accounts with a different bank. They will ask you to pay via a hyperlink which allegedly will speed up the transaction. In reality, you will buy bitcoins for the seller, who can then collect their money anonymously.

6. Check the seller's bank account details There are several websites offering up-to-date lists of bank account numbers used by scammers.

7. Use your common sense Many people fall for a scam simply because they are too eager to go to a concert. Use your common sense. Never transfer money to people who do not even live in the Netherlands, for example. How likely is it that this particular person abroad, of all people, still has tickets for an immensely popular festival?

Beautiful police officers not here to ‘quench your thirst’, says Mbalula – Citizen

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has taken to Twitter to outline what the duties of the South African Police Service (SAPS) officers are.

Mbalula was responding to a Twitter user who tweeted him a picture of a policewoman in uniform and asked where she was stationed.

I need to do an affidavit, he added.

However, the minister saw through the Twitter user and told him exactly what he needed to hear. He reminded the Twitter user that police officers were there to protect citizens, not what hehad in mind.

SAPS officers are here to protect you, not to quench your thirst. Buy [Schweppes] drink, have a sip and dont bother the Minister, he told him.

However, it seems even ANC national executive committee member Tony Yengeni has noticed all these police officers who have been the talk of the Twitter streets. Responding to Mbalula, he said he was in the wrong business, as the police service seems more appealing.

Some of his followers only laughed at Mbalulas clap back, while some said they too wanted to certify (or satisfy?) copies at the station the police officer was stationed at.

This was not the ministers first interaction with followers about attractive women in uniform. Recently, Mbalula appeared to playfully upload a picture of a beautiful SAPS officer, with this warning to men: Careful guys, you will be arrested.

With the way her hand is positioned, it could give the impression that she has just blown someone a kiss, though it appears to be some sort of drill exercise, because there is another officer behind her who also has her hand showing palm up.

While oneuser immediately warned Mbalulahe was being inappropriate (he was told by another user to improve his sense of humour, though its a sentiment that was widely shared), other men were quick to catch the ministers meaning, and joked that he was continuing with his yellowbone policy.

Transcoding in the Cloud – TV Technology

I watched some amazing fireworks this past Fourth of July weekend, with powerful rockets screaming skyward to burst among the clouds and fantastic fountains erupting brilliantly at ground level. After the excitement, I found myself musing on the shows parallel to the question of whether it is better to transcode in the cloud or to use on-premise servers. People want to understand how cloud-based transcoding might benefit their business. Do we even need on-premise transcoding anymore?

The truth is that you cant discuss transcoding without considering the workflow around it. Lets start with two basic definitions:

1. Transcoding is the adaption of a media file from one format to another: converting a 1080i file to 720p or Avid DNxHD to H.264 web-compatible format, changing the bit rate, or making numerous other changes needed to deliver content to a particular platform.

2. Workflow is the path content takes between creation and delivery. A workflow can include manual processes such as Standards & Practices, machine-automated processes such as quality control, and, yes, transcoding.

In other words, transcoding is just one activity within the overall journey we call a workflow. What happens upstream and downstream of transcoding matters. We are really asking about content operations, which come in two flavors: Production Content that is in the process of being created and Distribution Content that is relatively complete but needs to be adapted for one or more distribution platforms.

Production content is the raw material of the production factory, from a YouTube producer creating a workout video to a broadcast newsroom creating this evenings newscast. Transcoding may be needed to bring in external content (such as from a news-wire service, archive or external library) or to share content between departments running different systems (such as production and promotions departments). Production content workflows tend to be heavily time-dependent, frequently operate on smaller files and typically require very few destination formats and variations.

Distribution content is the finished goods that need to be packaged for delivery. The destination could be a networks master control, iTunes, Roku, SVOD or any other distribution path. It tends to be longer in duration, although it may also include commercials and promos, and generally requires conversion into significantly more formats and varieties.

With all that in mind, lets re-ask the question: cloud-based or on-premise transcoding? The answer often comes down to three simple factors:

TIME

Transcoding large files can take significant time; uploading large files to the cloud, potentially even longer. If the delivery need is measured in minutes, as is frequently required with production operations, its unlikely cloud services will reliably meet that demand. If the need is measured in days, which is normal in distribution operations, the cloud becomes a more realistic option.

Internet connection speed also greatly affects time. Just comparing one recent Positive Flux client with a 100Gig internet backbone and another with only 200Mb, the client with the faster pipe was far better positioned to utilize cloud services for a wider variety of services.

DISTANCE

A widely-dispersed team whose members need to operate on the content at the same time could benefit from a cloud-based solution, if it has the workflow tools they need. For them, the time cost of bringing content to the cloud is offset by the benefits in freedom of location.

If the content is destined for multiple off-site locations, then time spent to upload it into the cloud is not wasted. In fact, it has the effect of moving the content closer to all its destinations and potentially reducing the number of uploads to just one. We can then leverage cloud-based workflows and transcoding to deliver the many variations to the different destinations.

If the content is only destined for an in-house master control facility, then cloud-based operations make less sense. Why go to the cloud only to return to the same starting point?

MONEY

Moving transcoding and workflow operations to the cloud trades capital investment for operational cost. Cloud-based operations could help avoid buying some servers and software licenses, or building a data room or complex networks, but careful financial modeling and good estimates of content volumes are critical. The pay-as-you-go model might help with cash-flow, but those with higher volumes may find themselves penalized. Cost calculations need to include upload, storage, transcode operations, and other processing and delivery charges from the cloud service provider. It is also important to amortize the incremental internet service used to and manage content operations.

On-premise solutions provide an all-you-can-eat solution with fixed pricing that should be easier to budget. Licenses can be used for years, although they incur annual support fees. Right-sizing is critical here: buy too many licenses and engines sit idle; buy too few and content piles up like flights into OHare. In our practice, 4,000 one-hour transcodes per year is the rule-of-thumb for the economic break-even point for one server.

People ask if there are maintenance or IT cost savings associated with using cloud services. It seems like this should be the case, but the reality is that web services need to be managed and monitored just like local servers. Companies find themselves needing the same size team either way.

WHY NOT HAVE IT ALL?

For many workflows, the decision of where to perform transcoding is not an A/B choice. One of the clouds many advantages is its elasticity. Its easy to spin up additional transcode engines in the cloud when a big job comes through or when many projects need to be accomplished at the same time. Although on-premises solutions do not offer this capability today, its conceivable that on-premise technology providers could soon provide the same elasticity, providing a hybrid on-site licensing/virtualization model or hybrid onsite/cloud service, which would manage the flow of content and scale on demand.

Like the fireworks, perhaps the best show of all ties together earth-bound launch platforms and cloud-based firepower.

Share your experiences in deciding to cloud or not to cloud media workflow operations in the comments.

Kamya Panjabi’s bare back pic goes missing from Instagram, actor says account hacked – Hindustan Times

Kamya Panjabi, much like her colleagues in the television industry, extended her support to Ekta Kapoors Lipstick Under My Burkha, on social media. She posted a bare back picture and captioned it: They Said that dont be that woman The that other woman..the divorced woman .. the single mother woman .. But I am that woman ..Every time I put in my lipstick on, I smile. because I am being true to myself . Whether the world agrees or not I have made my own dont.. Dont you

However, after a few hours, the picture was deleted from her account and that led to speculation that shes backed out from the campaign for the film and that she changed her mind about the bold photo. To end all doubt, Kamya took to Twitter to reveal that her account was hacked and the hacker deleted the photo, as till date she has never removed any posts from her account. As per sources, she will take the help of police to find out about the hacker.

As per Kamya, this is the photo that the hacker removed from her account.

Kamya gave out details about what happened. Open the app. Picture has been removed. News articles claiming my unsure mind led to impulsive upload of nudity and hence took it off. Never posted something I never believed in. Never took off something I once posted. Wore my heart and scares on my sleeves with pride. Happy hacking happy hating. She even put a hastag, I know you know my password. When contacted, the actor said that she has already given out all the details on Twitter and doesnt want to talk more about this.

This is not the first time an actors account on the photo sharing app has been hacked. Early this year, Nia Sharmas Instagram account was hacked and she had reported it to the cyber cell. In Bollywood, actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar and Shruti Haasan also faced the same thing.

Kamya, currently seen as Preeto in Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, is reportedly in a relationship with Bigg Boss season 10 winner Manveer Gurjar. She recently posted a photo with Manveer and captioned it: very special someone. For those who are not in the know, Kamya met Manveer on Bigg Boss when she was invited as a guest. Kamya praised him and even predicted that he might take the trophy home.

Key Factors to Choose the Right Cloud-based Backup Service – CIOReview

Cloud backup services are moving into everyday operations of an enterprise. Organizations must be cautious before selecting their cloud backup provider considering the fact that every single information of theirs has unique value and needs to be secured. It is important to make certain that the selected cloud provider handles the organizations backups and restores efficaciously without having any inconsistencies as they are not truly enterprise ready. Additionally, the seeding and data accumulation needs also have to be kept in mind to evaluate the available choice.

In the present epoch, cloud backup providers provide advanced capabilities such as application awareness, system-state recovery capabilities, bare-metal recovery capabilities, and the facility to backup open files. Along with these advancements, the providers are also delivering cloud storage capabilities within on-premise backup solutions. These novel cloud computing applications automatically create effective backup by making a copy of that backup to the cloud. As an effective case in point, one can consider Microsoft Azure, which enables cloud backup capabilities for virtual machines.

As there are numerous cloud backup providers in the market, it is imperative to gaze at their distinguishing capabilities and features offered by each of them. The ultimate objective is to decide which one of them will best suit the organizations needs and provide the finest backup strategy for their IT environment. Further, the parameters such as recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) should also be scrutinized in the deciding process.

Pilot tests should be carried out by setting up and testing with some trial accounts and performing backups before a particular cloud-based backup solution is taken onboard. Organizations have to be careful at this point of their choice and have to select properly as in certain cases, the cloud service providers are likely to highlight many features and capabilities while advertising, but still provide a below par experience when it comes to restoring data. It is also to be kept in mind that all the cloud backup provider's service capacity might not be fully compatible with the systems that the organization is looking forward to protect. One of the ways to ensure the safekeeping of cloud-to-cloud data backup is to encrypt data prior to transmission.

These two factors are those that organizations should not obliterate while choosing a cloud service provider. Data seeding denotes the swathe of creating initial backup in the cloud. Besides, it is also idealistic to be expecting to upload manifold terabytes of data across the Internet in a reasonable amount of time.

Data accumulation mentions the rate of data creation as juxtaposing to the speed at which the data can be uploaded to the cloud backup. This is also another factor that decides which provider has to be chosen. To illustrate, if an organization is creating 500GB of data every day and has the capability to upload only 300GB of data, the cloud backup strategy is inadequate to keep the tempo with the data growth.

As the technology is fast becoming an integral part of business, organizations must also look deeper into the additional storage capacity and other services that the provider will offer over time. Further, it is also necessary to find out whether the providers customize their solutions according to the growing needs of the organization.

FaZe Rain Explains His Absence From YouTube – Dexerto

FaZe Rain Explains His Absence From YouTube

Nordan FaZe Rain Shat speaks on his decrease in ad revenue on recent YouTube videos throughout his channel, and why he took a hiatus.

One of the owners of FaZe Clan, Rain discusses the fact thathis channel has been hit hard by a lack of revenue in recent months.

Multiple full-time YouTubers have expressed their discontent with the new way the platform handles revenue for potentially explicit content, and Rain has been plaguedwith the same issue.

He begins with the fact that his channel, one now with five million subscribers, has been making less than ten percent of what it originally had been.

Although he makes similar content to his roommates, Rain goes on to mention how he believes he is being treated unfairly by the platform.

Hows that going to make me feel? It makes me feel as if Im being mistreated or not being treated the same way. It makes me feel all these things and for what? For me being myself?

Continuing on, he assumes that he started to generate less revenue when he was uploading vape content, and quit using that genre for its potential adult oriented tag.

Later, he goes on to rant against the recent change in the YouTube platform. Rain originally loved being able to be himself while uploading videos, yet he believes the push for creators to fit into a character role has left a sour feeling for many in the community.

Fulfillment from having the ability to upload videos that he enjoys and provide for his family/ friends is his main drive and resents the fact that he may need to change his content in order to continue making money from uploading.

The full video can be found below, with his explanation beginning at the fourteen-minute mark.

Now that he has found a new outlook on the situation, Rain believes that he has nowhere to go but up.

With his state of mind regained, motivation will become second nature again for the veteran content creator.

Scout.com, Fightin’ Gators Transitioning To New Platform – Scout

FightinGators.com's content and community will be moving to a new, more stable user interface this month. We have some preliminary information on what should be a smooth transition over the next few weeks.

Back in February, CBS acquired Scout, FightinGators.coms network partner. Since then, the CBS team completed a thorough review of Scout's platform and technology and has been working feverishly to prepare the site for a comprehensive overhaul

The preparations are nearing completion and the overhaul will be implemented in late July. These are some things to keep in mind as the transition nears:

What Does This Overhaul Entail?

By the end of July, Scout, and our community, will be moving to a new platform for all aspects of the site. That includes the forums, front page, articles, database and video. User accounts, articles, media and forums posts will be migrated to the new site. And yes, things like post counts and avatars will automatically be transferred, as well.

Why Do An Overhaul?

The biggest reason is stability. This new site is being built off the existing CBS platform, whereas the Scout infrastructure is unstable and a major burden to maintain. The CBS platform offers much greater stability immediately, and also scale-ability, which creates some exciting potential for adding site features and improving coverage. It's important to highlight that while this is a new platform to us, it's not new to CBS, as they've been using it for years now, so this is existing, functional technology that has been tested in a live setting.

Why Now?

Changes of this magnitude cannot be implemented in-season. Not only is our staff preoccupied with coverage responsibilities, but readers don't want to be distracted with a brand new interface and any potential accompanying bugs during that time. And the prospect of staying on an unstable platform until next April is a risk not worth taking.

What To Expect?

A faster and more stable site. Specifically with regard to the forums, there will be some features and characteristics that our users have been requesting for years. For example, you will be able to jump to new posts within a thread, you'll be able to upload images directly to your posts, and there will be an unlimited posting archive moving forward. Current forum archives for more than a year will be migrated over, too. There will, however, be some temporary feature voids as they are re-developed, such as the Scout iOS app, Quick Reply, and effective search tools.

This is going to be the same Fightin Gators same staff, same content, same community. It's just going to be on a new platform. We understand change is inconvenient, but we've made efforts to make the new look as familiar as possible and are confident this is both a necessary and beneficial move for the present and future of our community.

The product that debuts at the end of the month should be viewed as a starting point. As we've done in the past, we'll request and compile reader feedback and develop a priority list based off this feedback to submit changes, bug fixes and feature requests, which CBS says it will prioritize in the coming months.

GAME OF THRONES Re-Throned: Blood of My Blood (S6, E6) – Nerdist

Winter is coming, but not soon enough. So to help pass the time until season seven of Game of Thrones, were doing a weekly re-watch of the series, episode-by-episode, with the knowledge of whats to come andthereforemore information about the unrevealed rich history of events that took place long before the story began. Be warned, though: that means this series is full of spoilers for every season, even beyond the episode itself. So if you havent watched all of the show yet immediately get on that and then come back and join us for Game of Thrones Re-Throned.

Because the next best thing to watching new episodes is re-watching old ones.

Season 6, Episode 6: Blood of My Blood

Original Air Date: May 29th, 2016 Director: Jack BenderWritten by: Bryan Cogman

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said in the post-episode featurette that the reason Bran didnt immediately flee in the last episode after being marked by the Night King was that the Three-Eyed Raven was uploading visions into his mind. Even on a re-watch its not clear thats what the show was trying to convey with Brans montage of visions that start the episode, but that explanation does give us some context to evaluate what he was experiencing and what it all might mean.

Heres what flashes through his mind, a vast collection made up of events from years ago, recent history, and things yet to come:

Coldhands Uncle Benjen, who returns half-dead/half-alive after going missing in season one, rescues Bran and Meera from wights, and tells Bran the Three-Eyed Raven lives again as Bran. But the old, tree Three-Eyed Raven had very little time to share his 1,000 years of wisdom with Bran, and these are the moments he chose. We call that kind of a big deal. We can bundle these visions to try and understand why they are important.

The murders of Brans family: Starks are under attack, a fact Bran has to face, no matter how difficult, because the remaining members must be protected. Not only is Jon potentially the Prince That Was Promised, but Benjen tells Bran, One way or another, [the Night King] will find his way to the world of men. When he does, you will be there waiting for him. And you will be ready. Bran says he cant control his powers yet, and that could be why he was too late to save his parents and brother, but he might be able to save Jon or himself once he can harness them, and that could be the difference in the Great War if they are as important as they seem to be.

The power of the Night King: Bran knows about the White Walker threat, but now he truly understands it, the way Jon did after Hardhome. But his visions also includes how they can turn humans into one of them. Thats something no one knows, and its much more terrifying than raising the dead into mindless zombies. That knowledge might be horrifying, but the more they know about the enemy the better.

The Mad Kings final moments: The killing of Aerys II by Jaime ended Roberts Rebellion, but why would that be relevant to defeating the White Walkers now? Because it might have been Bran whispering into the Mad Kings ear, to put in motion the events that will lead to the Prince That Was Promised saving mankind. We know from hold the door that Bran can influence events in the past in a time loop, so is he seeing one of his own when he sees the Mad King here? Is that also why he sees himself fall at Winterfell? Because he made that happen so he would go down this path to being the Three-Eyed Raven? We dont know yet, but what happened that day in the throne room, and Jaimes role in it, matters for far greater reasons than anyone realizes.

Cersei blowing up the Sept of Baelor: Besides past events, he also sees Cersei using the Mad Kings wildfire (though he doesnt know it yet). Considering he witnesses Daenerys emerging from the fire with dragons, and later sees a black dragon that looks like Drogon flying over a smoking Kings Landing (we guess it could be a past dragon, but it seems unlikely), is Cersei destined to use the rest of the wildfire when the Mother of Dragons invades? And if so, how many will die? How many potential soldiers in the Great War will perish because Cersei takes her enemies with her? The Lannisters, specifically the Mad Queen, pose a major threat to dragons, which might be the greatest weapon the living have against the White Walkers. Can Bran stop that from happening? Or could it be Jaime stopping that like he did so many years earlier?

Whatever the connection, the important thing is they are connected. Brans ultimate lesson is to learn how to harness his powers so he can be ready to fight the Night King. The Three-Eyed Raven wouldnt have taken his final moments to share visions with Bran that werent pertinent to that goal.

Somehow the Mad King, Daenerys, dragons, the Starks and the Lannisters, and even wildfire are all tied into defeating the White Walkers. That and what happened at the Tower of Joy.

The day a child, the son of a Stark and a Targaryen, was born.

That could be the biggest big deal thing the Three-Eyed Raven really wanted Bran to know.

What do you think of Brans visions? How are they connected? What do they all mean? Tell us in the comments below.

Fast cars and slow internet make for the perfect weekend – The Verge

Welcome to First Click, a daily essay written by The Verge staff in which we opine on lives lived in the near future.

This past weekend, for the second time in my life, I flew up the famous Goodwood hillclimb in a McLaren supercar. It was the pinnacle of a most excellent weekend spent in the sunny British countryside, surrounded by gorgeous classic cars, roaring engines, and the pervasive smell of petrol. Oh, and almost zero connectivity to speak of. It was heaven.

Few things bring Brits together as easily and with as much conviviality as festivals, and one of the true classics of the genre is the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This annual summer event in the south of England attracts keen petrolhead pilgrims from all over the sceptered isle as well as the United States and continental Europe. Unlike trendy music festivals like Glastonbury, however, Goodwood is still quite old fashioned about the technology it uses, especially on the communications front.

I found car companies at the show favored using walkie-talkies in lieu of phones because of how bad reception was. As for myself, I could leech a little bit of Wi-Fi here and there, but the moment I stepped out into the paddocks full of classic cars, it was just me, the smell and noise of old school motor racing, and a delighted crowd soaking it all up. No LTE for Facebook live streams, not even enough mobile bandwidth to upload an Instagram shot of a classic Ferrari. It was so liberating and delightful to cast off the chains of the internet.

One of the trends I'm sure everyone has noticed by now is the distrubing increase in people experiencing their most memorable moments through the screen of a phone. I'm as guilty of this as anyone, having once recorded a deadmau5 light show superimposed on a London skyscraper on my phone. I now have neither the phone nor the recording, but I do remember being irritated by having to hold up that glowing rectangle and filtering the experience through it. Goodwood's connectivity desert deprived me of that urge to record everything, and because of that, I was able to enjoy it so much more.

I still took some photos of the cars at Goodwood, of course, and I snuck out a couple of tweets at the few oases of internet scattered around the bucolic venue, but I felt none of my usual urgency to participate in the constant chatter online.

Even before I got strapped in to the track-only McLaren 570S Sprint which is so spartan on the inside as to be essentially a carbon fiber roll cage with a richly saturated orange paint job I was more cheerful and upbeat than I had been the whole week. I'd venture to suggest that was primarily down to my keeping Twitter closed and thus missing out on the latest catastrophic news about the plight of refugees fleeing violence, extremist attacks, or abuses of political and corporate power. All of those things matter, but marinating in them all day just isn't psychologically healthy. It can't be.

Instead, the things occupying my mind were the birds chirping outside, the exceedingly hot fireproof kit I was outfitted in, and the deeply amusing phenomenon of onlookers treating me as if I were a racing driver because of the uniform. Honestly, the Sunday was such a sunny and naturally pleasant day that you'd have to work to make yourself anxious or unhappy in that environment. When I disconnected from the internet, albeit briefly, I reconnected with nature and the people around me.

As to the minute-long speed run up the hill, it was much more enjoyable this time around than on my first ride last year. The first time was terrifying and literally breathtaking, whereas on this occasion I was able to see something other than my imminent doom and I could better appreciate the physics-defying control and grip of the supercar beneath me. As brief as it was, that hillclimb is still one of the most raw forms of excitement I know, and I'd dress up in whatever clowny outfit is required to do it again. And next time I'm leaving my phone at home.

A world without tigers? No way, says this beer company – Star2.com

Can you imagine a world without tigers? Can you imagine a day when these large, majestic cats are gone from the planet forever? Well, you can stop imagining now, because that could actually become a reality.

Globally, wild tigers are endangered their numbers have dropped 96% in the last century, from an estimated 100,000 to as few as 3,890 today.

The illegal tiger trade is one of the main reasons they are disappearing. More than a hundred tigers are killed each year, their body parts sold for profit through international criminal networks. Every part of the tiger, from skin and bones, to whiskers and teeth, is exploited and used to make products such as medicine, ornamental accessories, and textiles.

Today, the illegal tiger trade and the wider problem of wildlife trafficking reaches an estimated US$20bil (RM85.8bil) per year.

With that in mind, Tiger Beer has launched 3890Tigers, a digitally-led campaign that uncages art and creativity to raise global awareness of the plight of wild tigers.

By uploading a selfie on 3890Tigers.com, users can personalise their picture before posting it on social media to show their support.

3890Tigers (the name comes from the number of wild tigers left) is part of a six-year project in support of Tx2, a global commitment made by the governments of the 13 tiger range countries, including Malaysia, to double the worlds wild tiger population to 6,000 by 2022.

Tiger Beer kicked off the campaign with a donation of US$1mil (RM4.3mil) to organisations that support tiger conservation.

To drive home the urgency of the situation, it has also temporarily removed the tiger from its logo and is introducing a limited-edition design on select packaging without the iconic tiger for the first time in 84 years all to symbolise the threat of wild tigers disappearing.

Working in partnership with six artists from around the globe Malaysias Kenji Chai, Chinas Hua Tunan, Frances Mademoiselle Maurice, Russias Nootk, Britains Nick Gentry and the United States Tran Nguyen Tiger Beer has released an online tool which allows people to instantly create one-of-a-kind selfie art generated by AI.

Tiger Beer has removed the tiger from its logo and introduced a limited-edition design on select packaging without the iconic tiger for the first time in 84 years.

By uploading a selfie on 3890Tigers.com, users can choose from a range of signature styles including enigmatic street-art-meets-calligraphy, delicate paint and ink illustrations and fluttering rainbow origami to personalise their picture, before posting it on social media to show their support.

The campaign will conclude with a showcase event at Publika Mall in Kuala Lumpur, on Global Tiger Day (July 29). Art from the six artists will be on display alongside 250 individual tiger art pieces from local artists, symbolising the estimated number of Malayan Tigers left in the wild.
