Liberty Silver Corp. Successfully Completes First Phase of 2012 Drilling Program

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 9, 2012) - Liberty Silver Corp. (LSL.TO)(LBSV) ("Liberty Silver" or the "Company") is pleased to announce results of the first phase of its 2012 drilling program in the Trinity silver mining district in Pershing County, Nevada. Drilling was directed to the exploration of selected areas adjacent to the resource zone identified in the Company's 2011 NI 43-1012 technical report (the "Resource Area"), as well as confirmation of that resource.

Highlights

Bill Tafuri, President and COO, said, "We are extremely pleased with the results from phase one of our 2012 drilling program. Trinity is a large, high quality asset that provides us with a relatively low-risk opportunity to expand the known Resource, and also has high quality exploration targets. We are very excited about the potential revealed by the first phase of drilling."

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Eighteen vertical drill holes were completed to depths of up to 1,500 feet in rhyolite and underlying metasedimentry host rocks by reverse circulation for a total of (20,030) feet. Drilling tested parts of five (5) geographic domains in the vicinity of the southern end the Trinity open pit mine and the 43-101 Resource Area. Sixteen holes intercepted sample intervals greater than 1 opt silver ("Ag") with grades as high as 15 opt Ag. Sulfide zone samples contain up to 1.7 % lead ("Pb") and 1.6 % zinc ("Zn"). A map of the location of the drill holes can be found on the Company's website at: http://www.libertysilvercorp.com.

In addition to 18 holes drilled during phase 1 of the 2012 drilling program, approximately 395 holes were drilled during the period from 1982-2007, mainly by US Borax. While approximately 50 of these holes are widely spaced throughout the approximate 13 square-mile area of interest, the large majority are located within an approximate one square mile area centered on the Trinity open pit silver mine. Based on historical(1) and current assays, all holes contain anomalous silver throughout. The non-43-101-compliant average grade for all 413 holes is 0.70 opt Ag.

The following Table summarizes the oxide mineralization encountered in the drilling:

The Following Table summarizes the deeper sulfide mineralization as well as base metals of interest:

The three holes drilled in Domain 1, penetrated to depths of 1,040 to 1,120 ft and contain weakly anomalous Ag throughout. Very thin horizons of Ag at 1.2 to 5.1 opt Ag are found spatially associated with speculated fault zones at 635 to 700 ft depths.

Domain 2 (Holes A12-1, -2, -3 and -6) is located immediately southwest of the south end of the Trinity pit. Holes A12-1 and A12-6 host no oxide Ag above 0.5 opt but do contain sulfide Ag averaging 0.90 opt and 0.95 opt Ag, respectively with grades improving at depth. A12-2 contains 1.0 opt oxide Ag at a depth of 80 to 90 ft while A12-3 contains 0.77 opt oxide Ag from 105-115 ft deep.

Liberty Energy Completes Assignment of Oil and Gas Assets in Texas

HOUSTON, July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Liberty Energy Corp. (LBYE) ("Liberty" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the completion of its acquisition of over 1,000 acres in Bastrop, Caldwell and Eastland Counties, Texas.

The acquisition falls in line with the Company's strategy of growing shareholder value through acquiring assets in proven onshore oil and gas play within the US. The leases are considered to be highly prospective, with a mixture of work-over potential and exploration and development drilling.

The Company is working to finalize geological and geophysical work plans to be completed on the new leases. All of the new leases are considered to be low risk being positioned within proven, multiple payzone, producing counties. The Company also intends to work with existing partners to investigate and further develop the new and existing leases.

Ian Spowart, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "Whilst our strategy is to expand aggressively, we are always looking to maximize returns and increase shareholder value. The new acreage is a great addition to our existing portfolio and we look forward to providing further information on geological and geophysical work to be carried out on the new leases in due course."

Bastrop County

Bastrop County is located in South Texas. The majority of production in Bastrop is attributed to the Austin Chalk and Navarro formations.1 The county presently houses over 1,700 wells and over 170 operators including; Texas Vanguard Oil Company, Chalker Operating Inc. and Petro-Gas Inc.2 The Eagle Ford Shale formation is in the oil maturity window and is present in Bastrop County. The play is 50 miles wide and an average of 250 feet thick at a depth between 4,000 and 12,000 feet. The oil reserves are estimated at 3 billion barrels of oil (BBO) with potential output of 420,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).1 Major producers in the county include Anadarko, Exxon-XTO and PetroHawk. Liberty will, under the terms of the LOI, acquire five leases comprising approximately 630 highly prospective acres within the county.

Caldwell County

There are four main pay zones within Caldwell County, the Sepertine, Dale Lime, Austin Chalk and Edwards. There are currently 385 operators (including Eagle Ford Oil Co., Inc., Luling O&G LLC and Texas Petroleum Investment Co.) and nearly 9,000 wells in Caldwell County.3 From March 2010 to March 2011 the county produced over 1 million barrels of oil (MMBO).4 Liberty will, under the terms of the LOI, acquire two leases comprising approximately 300 greatly prospective acres within the county.

Eastland County

In addition to having the Marble Falls, Duffer and Mississippian formations, Eastland County is the westernmost extension of the Barnett Shale play and can be considered as part of the active Barnett Shale play area.5 The Bend Arch has had a significant effect on the Barnett Shale in regards to regarding its burial history and geo-thermal makeup. The Barnett is the source rock for the hydrocarbons produced from many of the shallower zones over the Bend Arch such as the Marble Falls and Duffer. There are currently 893 operators (including North Ridge Corporation, Sun Expl. & Prod. Co.-Abilene and B & B Oil, Inc.) and over 10,900 wells in Eastland County.2 Using a geology-based assessment methodology, the U.S. Geological Survey estimated a mean of 26.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of undiscovered natural gas, a mean of 98.5 MMBO undiscovered oil, and a mean of 1.1 billion barrels of undiscovered natural gas liquids (BBNGL) in the Bend Arch-Fort Worth Basin Province.6 Liberty will, under the terms of the LOI, acquire one lease comprising approximately 110 considerably prospective acres within the county.

Liberty try to move closer to playoff spot

The Liberty have been here before and flopped.

It was June 10 when they hosted the Chicago Sky at the Prudential Center.

The Liberty, after opening the season with five straight losses, had won three straight, the Sky six in a row.

It was a showdown of two of the hottest teams in the WNBA. Chicago won 73-64 with a dominating defensive effort.

Today, its deja vu all over again.

The Liberty (6-9) have won two straight to pull within a game of the Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Their opponent today is the San Antonio Silver Spurs (10-5), who have won six straight to move into second place in the Western Conference, 2 1/2 games behind the Minnesota Lynx.

The Silver Spurs are led by former Liberty star Becky Hammon. Her return always ratchets up the emotion for Liberty fans.

Hammon is one of the most popular players in team history.

But Hammons return merely is a subplot. The story is whether or not the Liberty can build momentum heading into the second half of the season.

Silver Stars-Liberty Preview

The surging San Antonio Silver Stars are playing their best basketball of the season. If their recent efforts against the New York Liberty are any indication, however, keeping things going could prove difficult.

Looking to extend its longest winning streak in four seasons, San Antonio tries to avoid a sixth consecutive loss to New York as the teams meet at the Prudential Center on Sunday afternoon.

Since a 2-4 start, the Silver Stars (10-5) have proven nearly unbeatable. San Antonio has won six in a row by an average of 10.8 points and eight of nine overall.

The Silver Stars continued their recent prowess Friday with a 78-73 win at Washington. Sophia Young had 18 points while ex-Liberty guard Becky Hammon added 17 for San Antonio, which shot 52.6 percent from the floor.

"Right now we're just playing really well together," said Hammon, who leads the league with 5.7 assists per game. "We're moving the ball. We had 20 assists on 30 field goals. That's really moving the ball."

San Antonio, which hasn't posted seven consecutive victories since June 28-July 11, 2008, now looks for its momentum to carry over versus New York (6-9).

The Liberty have had their way with the Silver Stars of late, pulling out five straight wins - the last four of which have come by six or fewer points.

New York has posted back-to-back victories after dropping four of five, beating Seattle 77-59 on June 30 and winning 64-59 at Chicago six days later. Four-time All-Star Cappie Pondexter scored a team-high 19 points for the Liberty, who managed to prevail despite shooting 38.6 percent and getting outrebounded 45-30.

"We just told them to win it on defense and rebounding," said coach John Whisenant, whose team has been outrebounded by an Eastern Conference-worst 5.4 boards per game. "We had trouble scoring and I knew it would be that way. We missed some baskets that were easy, but so did they. They missed some putbacks. I'll take the way it was."

New York could be without leading rebounder Kia Vaughn for a second consecutive game. The 6-foot-4 center, averaging a team-high 5.8 boards, is dealing with a concussion she suffered versus the Storm.

San Jacinto County offers ways to cut costs for Liberty County Jail

As Liberty County seeks to cut costs to operating its jail facility, San Jacinto County offers possible ways to save money by housing inmates and demonstrating how a county can run a jail cheaper than private contractors.

San Jacinto County recently renewed its jail contract to house inmates for Trinity County at a rate of $38 per day. If Liberty County has 155 inmates in jail, they can pay $71.12 per inmate. The amount paid is on a sliding scale. As more inmates are housed, the price decreases. If it falls below 150, the price is the actual cost plus 15 percent.

San Jacinto County has had previous experience with housing inmates from other areas such as Polk County. At one time, San Jacinto was housing 50 inmates for Polk County, according to Capt. Thomas J. Bartlet, jail supervisor.

Bartlet said that his jail has the capacity and staff to house extra inmates from other counties and has actively sought such arrangements in the past. He supposed that they could house Liberty County inmates with adjustments made for transporting inmates to court and coverage of medical costs.

San Jacinto County Jail has an average daily inmate population of 73.08 inmates, according to Bartlet. The jail is supervised by Bartlet and is operated by four Sheriffs Office deputies, 12 jailers and an administrative assistant for a total of 18 county employees operating a jail that can house up to 144 inmates. The annual budget is approximately $1.8 million.

The inmate number includes female inmates and segregated inmates which require special detention facilities, according to Bartlet.

Liberty County has contracted with Community Education Centers, a private jail operation company, to run their county jail. There are 55 CEC employees at the jail, which consists of 31 correctional officers and the rest are support staff positions such as medical personnel, clerks and human resources. The annual jail budget for Liberty County is approximately $4 million.

The Liberty County Jail has a capacity of 389 which is 303 at the new jail and 86 at the old jail. They currently house approximately 170 inmates per day due to a personal recognizance bond program which releases first-time, nonviolent offenders to reduce costs instead of keeping them in jail while they await trial.

The new program has reduced the daily inmate population by approximately 100 inmates which has saved the county $1 million during its first year.

While on the surface, the prices seem very competitive when contrasted with Liberty County, other factors make the option not as simple as comparing prices, according to Wes Hinch, Liberty County Attorney.

Liberty hold off Sky

ROSEMONT, Ill. Cappie Pondexter scored a team-high 19 points, including a pair of key late free throws, and the LIberty held off a late Sky comeback for a 64-59 victory on Friday night.

The win was the second straight for the Liberty (6-9) and first in two tries over Chicago.

I knew they would make a run at home, Pondexter said. We showed we really wanted to win. We had to dig deep at the end and take control of the game. We had to settle down and take their momentum away.

Chicago (8-6) trailed 61-59 following Sylvia Fowles bank shot with 1:23 left, but missed a chance to tie on a turnover with 48 seconds to play.

Pondexter, fouled on an inbound pass with 19.3 seconds left, hit two free throws to open a four-point Liberty lead.

We just told them to win it on defense and rebounding, Liberty coach John Whisenant said. We had trouble scoring and I knew it would be that way. We missed some baskets that were easy, but so did they. They missed some putbacks. Ill take the way it was.

Essence Carson had 14 points and 11 rebounds, Leilani Mitchell had 12 points and Kara Braxton added 11 for the Liberty.

Fowles paced Chicago with 20 points, while Tamera Young added 16. The Sky shot 6 for 21 from the free-throw line and their 28.6 percent from the line was a franchise low.

We just threw it away, Fowles said. We had no sense of urgency. I dont know why. We missed free throws, 10 missed layups. Weve been talking about this since Day 1. The coaches do everything they need to do to prepare us for the game. Its so frustrating. This is not OK. I dont know what its going to take. Weve got to dig deep and win as a team.

Pondexter had seven first-quarter points including a 3-point play with 11.3 seconds left as the Liberty opened an 18-14 lead. Chicago hit just three of 11 free throws and went 5 for 14 from the field.

Unique Liberty Capability Unveiled By ATK

Thu, Jul 05, 2012

The company leading development of the Liberty commercial spacecraft says it will be able to offer an expanded crew and cargo capability. The extended cargo configuration will allow the Liberty spacecraft, being developed by ATK, to take full advantage of the launch vehicle lift capacity to transport a pressurized pod (the Liberty Logistics Module or LLM) along with the composite crew module. Based on NASAs 15-foot diameter Multi-Purpose Logistic Module design, the LLM will include a common berthing mechanism and will be capable of transporting up to 5,100 pounds of pressurized cargo. With that capability, the LLM could be used to transport four full-size science racks to the International Space Station along with a team of scientists to perform the associated science.

Libertys expanded service allows us to bring a commercial capability delivering up to seven crew members, 5,000 pounds of pressurized cargo, along with external cargo in a single flight, said Kent Rominger, ATK vice president and program manager for Liberty. This results in tremendous value since all other commercial offerings would need two flights to accomplish what Liberty does in one.

While on the launch pad and during launch, the LLM will be fully protected by a lightweight shroud. Once the launch vehicle is through the earths atmosphere, the shroud is no longer needed and will be jettisoned, maximizing payload capability.

The Liberty team is developing a complete commercial space service to revolutionize access to Earth orbit. The system is built on safety, reliability and market value, all essential to the success of the emerging commercial market and NASA. Blending new composite and electronics technology with the lessons learned in 50 years of human spaceflight produces a unique capability for human space flight. Liberty is an international venture dedicated to using the best people, lean production processes and flight-proven hardware to significantly reduce the cost while dramatically increasing the safety of space access.

Liberty is a complete commercial crew system that includes a human-rated composite spacecraft, advanced abort system, a reliable, affordable and capable commercial launch vehicle to low Earth orbit and ground and mission operations, which were all designed from inception to meet NASAs human-rating requirements. Unmanned test flights are planned for 2014 and 2015, followed by the first human flights in 2015 with a Liberty flight crew flying to the International Space Station.

Liberty Star Discovers Large Intrusion under Tombstone Caldera, Associated with Mineral Deposits

TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (Liberty Star or the Company) (LBSR: OTCBB) is pleased to announce that the Company has discovered a large intrusion indicated by an aerially extensive low flight level magnetic survey, over and around the Tombstone caldera.

Background: The magnetic data provided to Jim Briscoe (JAB), ca. 1999 by an Australian mining company, was overlooked in a large collection of rolled maps, but was re-discovered during computer scanning of some 400 large rolled maps collected over 40 + years of work on the Tombstone Mining District, and elsewhere. When these maps were scanned, digitized and turned into computer compatible images, this mag data was recognized to be critically important to the current exploration work in the Tombstone caldera. Ca. 1981- 83, JAB compiled and reinterpreted data collected over the preceding 10 + years. His curiosity about inexplicable geologic relationships in the Tombstone area led him to the conclusion that Tombstone was a caldera, and that previous interpretations of the origin of the district were in error. JAB sent his data and conclusions to Dr. Peter Lipmann, US Geological Survey Caldera specialist. Dr. Lipmann, after field work and review of the data, concluded Briscoe was correct and gave him written credit for the recognition. Subsequent work by the United States Geological Survey and others (including JAB) has refined the interpreted aerial extent of the caldera. It is now generally recognized , through study by many geologists in mineral deposits associated with volcanism and calderas that many mineral deposits and particularly porphyry copper deposits, are associated with the roots of calderas., To put it another way, mineral deposits are associated with the tops of intrusive granitic masses (plutons) which cause calderas in the first place. Liberty Star has concentrated much effort on these interpretative studies including contributions of Briscoes work in over 20 calderas -most mineralized. Because of this work, dating back to 1965, we believe that the Pebble Deposit and associated alteration zone, including Liberty Stars adjacent, covered alteration zone( indicated by porphyry copper geochemical signatures and ZTEM electromagnetic geophysics) defines the Big Chunk caldera in southwest Alaska.

Importance: At Tombstone, the large magnetic high revealed by the newly retrieved magnetic map represents the large body of solidified (but previously molten) granite (magma), which is the subsurface continuation of the exposed Schieffelin granodiorite (granite body named for the discoverer of the district, Ed Schieffelin), and other associated intrusives, which fed the explosive caldera and the surface (sub aerial) deposition of the Uncle Sam ignimbrite (welded tuff). The Company has compiled all geologic and mineral occurrence and alteration zones in the district and surrounding area, including virtually all mines and prospects, no matter how small, and superimposed them on the image of the magnetic body. When this was done it is clear that mineral bearing hydrothermal bodies porphyry copper systems and associated precious metal mineralization- are intimately associated with magnetic fluxuations (anomalies) in this magnetic body.

The intrusion covers about 215 square miles and its generalized edges appear to follow the outer edge of the interpreted caldera margins. All known mineralization, represented by prospects and the old Tombstone Consolidated Mines production area adjacent to the Tombstone town site are associated with these fluxuations (anomalies) in this intrusive mass. As yet undiscovered mineral bodies, if they exist, will likely be as well.

One of these anomalies is the magnetic high associated with the Hay Mountain target. Another is associated with the Walnut Creek target. Other anomalies appear to be associated with other confidential targets identified by other criteria. With the application of ZTEM geophysics we believe that ZTEM anomalies associated with porphyry copper alteration zones will be revealed. These, with this new data in hand could number 5 to 7 or more major targets.

Considering the size of the Tombstone caldera and its underlying magma source, (both about 215 square miles), in comparison to known mineral bearing calderas, the Tombstone area warrants much additional work. In terms of size and commercial potential, the Tombstone caldera compares in size to large surrounding Laramide (an age designation about 65 million years ago) calderas and associated mineral zones in the southeastern part of Arizona.

Comments James Briscoe, Liberty Stars CEO and Chief Geologist, I have surmised, for many years, that the Tombstone caldera could be one of the large hosts for porphyry copper zones in southeastern Arizona. We now have an accurate measurement of the calderas size and precise location of the driving granite intrusive (granite pluton). We will work to see if we can confirm additional porphyry copper mineral targets, beyond the targets we already have, using our normal, careful, methodical application of cutting edge geotechnology. Hay Mountain and our other Tombstone holdings reside within or along the edge of this massive intrusion.

James A. Briscoe James A. Briscoe, Professional Geologist, AZ CA CEO/Chief Geologist Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp.

*For those interested in more detail on the formation of calderas and associated mineral bodies we are seeking permission to post excerpts of a report on the subject for interested laymen as well as professionals, on our web site, under the Mining Explained dropdown. This well written report is called Desert Heat Volcanic Fire. A full copy of this report on the Tucson Mountains Caldera (similar to the Tombstone and other mineral bearing SE AZ calderas, can be obtained from the Arizona Geological Society http://www.arizonageologicalsoc.org/publications/digest-21. This will explain the why of some of the exploration approaches your company pursues. Remember, we also have a Mining & Geology Glossary under the same dropdown to help you through the mining and geology jargon.
