Liberty County grand jurors angry over early dismissal

Members of a Liberty County grand jury abruptly dismissed prior to the final session of their six-month term are demanding answers from the people they believe are behind the decision to remove them.

Six people who served on the 12-member grand jury Dr. Jimmy Smith, Richard Pegues, Mary Terrell, Kay Roberts, Burma Chapman and Darrell Taylor met on Thursday, Jan. 24, with the Advocate to discuss what they feel led to their early dismissal on Nov. 29, just one month before their terms were set to expire on Dec. 31, 2012.

In the crosshairs of their suspicions are former Liberty County District Attorney Mike Little, who retired in December and now serves as Liberty municipal court judge, and Houston attorney Larry Eastepp, who was assigned to the grand jury as a prosecutor pro tem.

Little and Eastepp were asked to comment about the accusations being leveled in their directions, but both declined to comment based on the secrecy rule regarding grand jury proceedings.

The six grand jurors believe they were getting too close to uncovering information on cases that had been allowed to languish for unknown reasons.

One of the cases they were expecting to hear was the March 2010 incident of tampering with the mail of 253rd District Court Judge Chap Cain.

It is believed that as many as four persons may have conspired to access Cains mail and provide copies of a campaign contribution to members of the media in an effort to accuse Cain of accepting donations that exceeded the law. Cain, however, returned the check to the donor and requested another be written for the amount allowed by law for campaign contributions.

You have some grand jurors who have expressed that they dont know what they did wrong and then you have people like me who are not left with that question at all, said Richard Pegues, who served on the dismissed grand jury. I want to know who is conspiring to stop certain cases from coming before a Liberty grand jury. Well, its the runaway prosecutors to me.

The grand jurors were notified of their dismissal by certified letter. They are outraged that the reason for their dismissal was never revealed to them and has left a cloud of suspicion hanging over them.

We were summarily dismissed and it implies that we were doing something wrong, when we werent, said grand juror Darrell Taylor.

Liberty Ross To Divorce Rupert Sanders

Model Liberty Ross has filed for divorce from "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders six months after he admitted to having an affair with the film's star, Kristen Stewart.

According to People magazine, Ross, 34, who also starred in the film, filed for divorce Friday from her estranged husband, Sanders, 41, in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.

Ross and Sanders have been married for 10 years and have two children, Skyla, 7, and Tennyson, 5.

Liberty Ross Makes Solo Red Carpet Appearance

Us Weekly reported that she is seeking joint custody of the kids, spousal support and attorney's fees.

Ross' rep did not immediately respond to ABCNews.com's request for comment.

It's been about six months since Sanders publicly apologized for the affair following Stewart's surprising public admission that she cheated on then boyfriend and "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson.

Kristen Stewart Apologizes for Cheating on Robert Pattinson

"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Sanders said in a statement to People in July 2012. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

Stewart appears to have patched things up with Pattinson, but despite what appeared to be attempts by Sanders and Ross to reconcile, the estranged couple could not.

Liberty Tire Recycling and Bridgestone Americas Present 'Recycle NASHVILLE: 2013' to Explore Scrap Tires and Use in …

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty Tire Recycling, the premier provider of tire recycling services in North America, and Bridgestone Americas, the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company, will highlight the innovative benefits of rubberized asphalt on February 27, 2013 with an event called "Recycle NASHVILLE: 2013." The event will be held at Bridgestone Americas' headquarters (535 Marriott Drive, Nashville) and will gather transportation and environmental professionals, civic leaders and policymakers to learn more about scrap tire management in Tennessee and rubberized asphalt materials and applications. Speakers will include experts from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and local industry professionals, including the Tennessee Road Builders Association.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20091210/NE24642LOGO )

"Locally sourcing recycled tire rubber for asphalt projects is a win-win for Tennessee at both the state and municipal levels," said Jeffrey Kendall, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling. "Rubberized asphalt provides a sustainable outlet for scrap tires and contributes to improved infrastructure in the form oflonger-lasting, less expensive roadways."

The sessions at Recycle NASHVILLE: 2013 will consist of presentations on topics including "Scrap Tire Management in Tennessee," "Scrap Tire Processing and Uses," "Tennessee Asphalt Industry Overview," "Tennessee Experience with Rubber and Modified Asphalt" and "Rubberized Asphalt Materials and Applications," which will provide an overview of the advantages of rubberized asphalt, from enhanced safety and reduced tire noise to better crack resistance and cost savings.

"More than 300 million tires come off the roads annually, and while they may no longer be of use on a vehicle, they are still a valuable resource," said Tim Bent, environmental director for Bridgestone Americas. "Our company is working to ensure that for every new tire we sell in the U.S., one spent tire a tire that has been removed from use is sent to another valuable purpose. If we are to succeed in reaching that goal, we must create, promote and encourage the use of spent tires in secondary markets, and rubberized asphalt has enormous potential for utilizing a large number of those tires that are discarded each year for an incredibly important product."

Rubberized asphalt is a low-cost, high-performance alternative to traditional paving mixes that reduces dependency on oil and limits carbon dioxide emissions. Added to traditional asphalt, crumb rubber comprises 8 to 22 percent of the binder and increases tensile strength. For more than 40 years, rubberized asphalt has proven to diminish maintenance costs and provide a smoother, safer ride. Plus, recycled rubber provides a reliable and consistent supply of material.

"We encourage state and municipal engineers and road maintenance supervisors to take rubberized asphalt specifications from this event and put them into practice in Tennessee to save money without sacrificing performance," Kendall added.

Liberty Bell threatened

Jonathan Lai, Inquirer Staff Writer Posted: Sunday, January 27, 2013, 3:01 AM A man who threatened to blow up the Liberty Bell was detained Saturday after leaving two backpacks nearby that he said contained explosives, police said. Police said they found no explosives.

The man was expected to be charged, Philadelphia police spokeswoman Officer Christine O'Brien said. He had not been publicly identified Saturday night, pending the formal filing of charges, O'Brien said.

A police source said the man was not from the Philadelphia area and did not appear to have a criminal record.

Sometime before 10:45 a.m. Saturday, National Park Service rangers stopped the man after receiving reports that he was threatening to blow up the Liberty Bell.

Two black backpacks were found in front of the Liberty Wheels wheelchair and scooter rental shop at 714 Market St. a half-block away.

Police arrived around 10:45 a.m. and closed off Market Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets.

Shortly after, a member of the Philadelphia Police Department bomb squad began examining the backpacks. The results came back negative for hazards, a bomb squad officer said.

Market Street reopened to pedestrians and traffic around 11:45 a.m. The Liberty Bell remained open throughout.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded.

Special Agent Frank Burton Jr., spokesman for the FBI's Philadelphia division, said the joint investigation was being conducted by Philadelphia police and the FBI because the Liberty Bell is a federal landmark.

Liberty Ross files for divorce following Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart affair

Model and actress Liberty Ross has reportedly filed for divorce from Snow White and the Huntsman director rupert Sanders, after failing to recover from his affair with Kristen Stewart.

Though the pair were rumoured to be in couples therapy following the exposure of Rupert's fling with Kristen last July, it looks as though Liberty has called time on their nine-year marriage.

According to US website TMZ, Liberty filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.

The report claims that the model has asked for spousal support and joint custody of her and Rupert's two children, while the director is thought to have filed his response to the petition already, also asking for joint custody.

Since sources have reported that the pair will be splitting court costs between them, it sounds as though Liberty and Rupert have come to the decision together.

Liberty Ross couldn't forget affair

Liberty Ross

Liberty Ross couldn't get past Rupert Sanders' affair with Kristen Stewart.

The British model and actress - who filed divorce papers this week at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, asking for spousal support and joint custody of their children Sykla, seven, and Tennyson, five - is still angry with her estranged director husband about his fling with his 'Snow White and the Huntsman' star Kristen, 22, last summer and decided she could never get over it.

A source close to the 34-year-old mother told USMagazine.com: 'This was a long time coming,' adding that Rupert 'did want to try to repair the relationship and didn't want a divorce' following his affair.

A second source said the Liberty 'was more than a little upset' about the betrayal, explaining: 'They gave it a shot for the kids, [but] she was just so angry . . .she's the kind of person who wouldn't really ever get over it.'

Rupert has filed his response to the petition in which he also asks for joint custody and he has requested that he and Liberty split the court costs between them.

Liberty and Rupert's marriage has been under strain ever since his fling with 'Twilight Saga' actress Kristen Stewart was exposed last year.

Although Liberty initially kicked the director out of their home after his infidelity was revealed, they began couples therapy in an attempt to save their marriage.

Liberty Ross Poses Naked For ‘Love’ Magazine

Liberty liberates herself as she poses completely nude on the cover of Love magazine. When speaking with the publication, she still refers to Rupert Sanders as her husband. Have they moved on from his Kristen Stewart affair? Continue reading for details!

Liberty Ross serves it on the cover of Love, taking off all her clothes and posing nude for the publication. Shes looking sexier than ever!

In the mag, which goes on sale Feb. 4, readers will see Liberty sporting nothing but her birthday suit and an over-sized necklace as the 34-year-old wife of director Rupert Sanders flaunts her picture-perfect nude body against quaint grey backdrop.

When the model was asked questions about her marriage to Rupert, 41, Liberty continually refers to him as her husband, saying:

I moved to L.A. with my husband Rupert because I felt it was time for him to have his turn. We both like it there and we were both established in what we did, but it felt like things could only excel for him in film in America. I wanted to have children and change my life in that way too. Im glad I did it; I dont have any regrets.

Since Ruperts affair with Kristen Stewart, 22, was exposed on July 24, 2012 while she was dating Robert Pattinson, 26, the couple seemed to have put the bitterness behind them for the sake of their children.

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Liberty dipped into a skin-tight catsuit while she and Rupert and took their two children, Skyla and Tennyson, trick-or-treating Halloween night last Oct. 31.

Liberty, even back in October, left little to the imagination and reminded Rupert what he had been missing in her sexy, skin tight leather catsuit possibly a Catwoman costume to match her son Tennysons Joker costume.

Sound off,HollywoodLifers. What do you think of Libertys naked cover photo?

Liberty Ross Did The Right Thing By Divorcing Rupert Sanders

Liberty Ross took the best step in her relationship recovery by filing for divorce from her cheating husband Rupert Sanders! He deserves everything that is coming to him!

After Rupert Sanders and Kristen Stewart took it upon themselves to ruin their respective relationships with their significant others in the cheating scandal heard round the world, Liberty Ross has made the brave decision to file for divorce from the man who scorned her and it is the best thing she could have ever done!

Liberty filed her divorce papers in L.A.Superior Court on Jan. 25 after six months of back and forth with Rupert on whether they were going to save their marriage or not. But Liberty is a new woman, with new goals and a new lifestyle. The love is out the door, and the new Liberty is on display. Side note: Have you seen her new nude photos?WOW! This is exactly what she should be doing in the wake of thischeating scandal. I really like the way Liberty is handling this situation, 100 percent.

It cant be forgotten that Kristen and her beau, Robert Pattinson, are taking a break from each other as well, since Rob still holds a grudge over the cheating and may never get over it. Personally, I dont blame him. The person he has loved for years has betrayed him. That is the most horrible feeling in the world. He is in Australia about to film his next movie, and Kristen is home distraught that she isnt able to see her man. But she made this bed and she needs to lie in it. Its all her fault.

Liberty is on the right path. Initiating this divorce is the perfect thing to do for her family and her sanity. I really think she should get through this, lay low for awhile, and then start dating after all the dust settles. She cant rush into anything for the foreseeable future. I certainly think she can do it, and I wish her the best of luck! Rock on, girlfriend!

So HollywoodLifers, do you think Liberty made the right decision by divorcing Rupert? Sound off below!

Liberty Ross Files for Divorce From Rupert Sanders: Report

Liberty Ross and Rupert Sanders are officially over. The British model, 34, has filed for divorce from her director husband, 41, in L.A. County Superior Court, TMZ reports.

PHOTOS: Biggest celebrity splits of 2012

According to the site, Ross is asking for joint custody of the couple's two children, Skyla, 7, and Tennyson, 5, as well as spousal support and attorney's fees. She is represented by celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, who has handled cases for Ryan Reynolds, Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, and Britney Spears.

Sanders, repped by Lance Spiegel, has reportedly filed a response to his wife's petition in which he also requests joint custody. However, he is not seeking spousal support and wants to share the costs of attorney's fees.

PHOTOS: Hollywood's ugliest divorces

The news of the couple's imminent divorce comes several months after Us Weekly revealed that the Snow White and the Huntsman director had been caught cheating with Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, 22, in July 2012. Stewart and her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, reconciled shortly after the affair, but Ross and her husband faced a more uncertain future. In October, they appeared to be trying to work things out when they were spotted embracing after an alleged counseling session. Later that month, they put up a united front to take their kids trick-or-treating in Los Angeles.

Alas, it seems that front has crumbled. "I believe we're all on journeys and we're all given lessons at certain times in our life...sometimes when things seem really bad you have to be able to see the good and learn from it," Ross said of her marriage after the affair. "And move forward as graciously as possible."

"[This year was] the end of some things and the beginning of something else," she continued. "Beginnings and endings are always really exciting."

Liberty Ross files for divorce from director Rupert Sanders

British model and actress Liberty Ross has reportedly filed for divorce from Rupert Sanders, the "Snow White and the Huntsman" director who infamously cheated on her last summer with actress Kristen Stewart.

She's asking for joint custody of their 5- and 7-year-old children, spousal support and attorney's fees, in papers filed Friday in L.A. Superior Court, according to TMZ. Sanders, who filed his response Friday as well, also is seeking joint custody but wants to share the legal fees.

What Stewart called a "momentary indiscretion" with Sanders pictures of which appeared more than momentarily all over the Internet happened back in July.

Both parties publicly apologized, with Sanders, now 42, saying in a statement to People, "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

TIMELINE: Kristen Stewart cheating scandal

Since then, the 22-year-old actress has gotten back together with her "Twilight" costar Robert Pattinson, while Ross reportedly told Sanders in August that she didn't want him working with Stewart on a "Huntsman" sequel.

Stewart confirmed last month to Indiewire that she'll indeed be starring in a sequel to "Huntsman," saying, "Im so excited about it, its crazy," before noting that she wasn't allowed to talk about it at all.

For that, she did not apologize.
