Two men killed Saturday in a plane crash in Butler County have been identified, officials have told our newsroom.
Jeff and Steven Krummen, who are brothers, were in the plane that crashed and burst into flames Saturday morning, according to officials.
Autopsies were performed this morning at the county morgue.
At 8:55 a.m. Saturday, a two-seat aerobatic biplane struck the side of a home in the 5000 block of Sunrise View Circle in Liberty Twp. before crashing and bursting into flames in the backyards of two homes, said Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer of Butler County Sheriffs Office.
Dwyer said its believed that four people shared ownership of the plane and that two of the owners were in the plane when it crashed.
Both were experienced pilots, Dwyer said.
The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as the National Transportation Safety Bureau, a federal agency that investigates civil aviation accidents in the U.S., according to the sheriffs office.
FAA investigators were on scene Saturday afternoon to begin the process of identifying the cause of the crash and any problems with the functionality of the plane or pilot errors, Dwyer said.
The sheriffs office is also continuing to probe what happened at the scene as part of a death investigation.

The pieces are falling into place for the next phase of Liberty Puzzles' business.
The Boulder-based maker of wooden jigsaw puzzles is weeks away from opening a retail store on the Pearl Street Mall.
The shop, which would be the first brick-and-mortar locale in the company's 9-year history, could lay the foundation for the operation to shift away from a wholesale-focused business model, owner Chris Wirth said.
Liberty Puzzles is setting up shop at 1468 Pearl St., a 685-square-foot space that most recently served as a retail front for Kid Robot, a maker of pop art and street art toys and collectibles.
"It made sense for us to plant the flag on the historic bricks of the Pearl Street Mall and see if that model works for us," Wirth said.

Liberty Puzzles now sells about "several dozen thousand" puzzles a year through its website and via the wholesale route to about a 100 small stores across America.
The puzzles are made by machine and a 30-person workforce in an east Boulder facility that in recent years has turned into a bit of a tourist draw, Wirth said. About two years back, Liberty Puzzles opened a showroom at its 2526 49th St. headquarters and made an open offer for drop-in tours.
Visitors pop in Liberty Puzzles on a daily basis, he said. During the peak summer tourist season, Wirth's business has hosted more than 10 groups in a single day.
"We've sort of been overwhelmed," he said.

DANVILLE -- With a rare win over an East Bay Athletic League opponent, Liberty High's football program continues to gain momentum.
The Lions beat Monte Vista 34-7 on Friday night to improve to 4-0 -- the team's best start to a season in nearly half a century.
Quarterback Joseph Tolentino was an efficient 12 of 14 passing for 207 yards and accounted for two touchdowns, and Willie Williams and Matavai Canady scored twice each for the Lions.
After posting seven straight losing seasons from 2006-2012, Liberty has made big strides recently. The team hasn't been 4-0 since 1967, though last year the Lions also got off to a strong start before forfeiting two wins for mistakenly using an ineligible player.
"For us to come over and just play an EBAL school and play relatively well, that's definitely something that I want to see our program doing on a regular basis," Liberty coach Jeff Walters said.
But even after a dominant win over the Mustangs, Liberty's coaching staff wasn't completely content with its team's effort. That's how much the Lions have raised their standards over the last two seasons.
Walters' message: Don't be happy with just being average.
Said Tolentino: "It feels good (to be 4-0), but we have to keep moving on and keep working hard because we have bigger goals ahead."
After a slow start, Liberty's offense got going in the second quarter, scoring 20 points to take control of the game.
The Lions' offensive outburst came -- not coincidentally -- when Williams entered the game. The senior missed the first quarter for unknown reasons but made an immediate impact, catching a 50-yard touchdown pass from Tolentino on the Lions' first offensive play of the second quarter.
