In New Jersey, the emergence of the "Chris Christie Republican"

Tea Party GOPer for Congress

From Nate Nelson, Pitbull Patriots blog:

Anna is a Christie Republican, the kind of adult-in-the-room leader that New Jersey needs in its congressional delegation. Chris Christie is cleaning up New Jersey and standing up to big spending Democrats in the legislature, and now Jersey needs to send Anna to Congress to clean up the mess Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats in Congress have helped Obama make.

Anna Little is the Mayor of Highlands Borough, NJ. She is running in the GOP primary race for the 6th District congressional seat. And she's as Nate Nelson describes a "Pro-Liberty Republican."

She’s cut the budget in the Borough of Highlands, spurring economic growth and putting her government on sound fiscal ground in a state and in a time when such fiscal solidity is rare. Anna stresses fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets as her core values

She has attended numerous Tea Party rallies. She's a strong Constitutionalist, and supports the Enumerated Powers Act. She's a staunch defender of the 2nd Amendment. Little has the endorsement of the Conservative Party of New Jersey.

The Coastal District which borders Staten Island, NY includes the famous town made famous by Bruce Springsteen, Asbury Park.

Delaware now has a "Pete duPont Republican" for Congress

Obama on the Economy "a disaster"

From Eric Dondero:

With Republican Michael Castle - great grandson of Benjamin Franklin - now headed for the Senate, there's an open election for his House seat.

Enter Michele Rollins of the famous Delaware Rollins family. Rollins won the Party's endorsement last weekend at the Delaware Republican Convention in Dover. This virtually guarantees her the nomination. She was nominated from the podium by Delaware's famous former Governor Pete duPont. Gov. DuPont ran a libertarian-leaning campaign for President in 1988, which included policy positions from the Cato Instutute such as privatization of Social Security, and drastic Welfare Reform.

In Delaware, the Rollins name is synonymous with leadership, sound fiscal judgment, and community involvement. Michele and John spearheaded projects to increase access to quality education, improve healthcare, support the arts, and give needy Delawareans meaningful support services to gain self-sufficiency.

Rollins is generally considered to be from the Moderate wing of the GOP. However, she has not been afraid to address Tea Party audiences. She told a skeptical 9/12 group downstate in Millsboro that she was inspired to run because of her opposition to Obama's health care. She also stated her opposition to Cap & Trade, and support for the 2nd Amendment.

On the economy from her campaign website:

"Just look at what the Obama administration has done – bigger government, bigger spending and higher taxes – and what do we have to show for it? Where are the new jobs to boost our economy? The Obama management of our money is a disaster."

Rahm Emanuel and that BP Adviser ‘rent free’ D.C. Apartment

by the Left Coast Rebel

Another window into the lackadaisical attitude of Barack Obama and company in regards to the BP oil spill. This particular window has shutters that open to D.C. - L.A. Times (of all places):

In case you were tempted to buy the faux Washington outrage at BP and its gulf oil spill in recent days, here's a story that reveals a little-known corporate political connection and the quiet way the inner political circles intersect, protect and care for one another in the nation's capital. And Chicago.

Now, we learn the details of a connection of Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago mayoral wannabe, current Obama chief of staff, ex-representative, ex-Clinton money man and ex-Windy City political machine go-fer.

Shortly after Obama's happy inaugural, eyebrows rose slightly upon word that, as a House member, Emanuel had lived the last five years rent-free in a D.C. apartment of Democratic colleague Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut and her husband, Stanley Greenberg.

Greenberg's consulting firm was a prime architect of BP's recent rebranding drive as a green petroleum company, down to green signs and the slogan "Beyond Petroleum."

Greenberg's company is also closely tied to a sister Democratic outfit -- GCS, named for the last initials of Greenberg, James Carville, another Clinton advisor, and Bob Shrum, John Kerry's 2004 campaign manager.

Fox Nation also has more on this story. Discussion at Protein Wisdom and RedState (Moe Lane connects the dots of past behavior) as well over at Memeorandum.

Corporatism: Never let a crisis (or cozy corporate-sponsored apartment) go to waste.....

First Israel, then Europe, then we too will fall to the Sword of Islam here in the United States

by Jim Lagnese, The Right Guy

What has become apparent in these last few days if not confirmed is that Israel (and the United States) are judge by a different standard than the rest of the world.

We have found out the the peace protesters attacked the Israeli commandos. We then found out they were armed. They we find out that they had stun grenades. Then we find out they were funded by the Turks. Yet the onus is on the Israelis. Somehow they should have given the peace terrorists a bouquet of flowers and kissed them on the lips. Is there something wrong here?

When we look to the rest of the world, North Korea sinks a South Korean Naval vessel in South Korean waters and nothing happens. Everyone is more afraid of China than they are of us or anyone else. This is just a continuation of the Obama Obsequiousness World Tour. No bad deed will be punished, unless of course it's allegedly perpetrated by the US or Israel. It fits Obama's narrative that the US has been the purveyor of evil in the world.

And what about evil? Ahmedinejad calls for the destruction of Israel, not on one occasion but continually over the years, while he now has enough material to create 2 nuclear weapons. Hamas' mantra is what? The destruction of Israel.

Pat Buchanan and rest of the anti-Israel malcontents will say, what does the destruction of Israel have to do with the US?

He predictably chimed in:

That bloody debacle in the Eastern Mediterranean last Sunday was an inevitable result of Israel doing what it always seems to do: going beyond what is essential to her security, to impose collective punishment upon any and all it regards as hostile to Israel.

Take a few steps back and look at the proponents behind this. It's islam, it's global jihadists. It's not about the fact we are the best or the richest, or the freest. It's about a world view that sees the end game as a global caliphate. In spite of the assertion that Israelis forced out palestinians, whatever that is, the jews were forced out by muslims over 1000 years ago, continuing the diaspora. So who forced who out first?

Look at the muslim invasion of Europe, now in its third iteration. Sharia law is allowed in the UK, and Rowan Williams sees Sharia and Islam dominance in England and Europe as inevitable. They are giving up without a fight (and people in this country worry about Mexicans. In time we will want them with open arms compared to the coming muslim problem).

So while the destruction of Israel doesn't raise a few hackles, who's next after them? Us of course. The problem is, we have no Charles Martel in our time. By the time the west recognizes there is a problem, it won't matter. We want to be so open minded as to let bad things in and accept them. Aristotle said that "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." A wise man whose ideas have been forgotten by most. The rational mind has been supplanted by the feeling one.

While I am not an interventionist, I think we need to recognize threats when they arise. It's the rational thing to do. Criticizing Israel is just an attempt by those who would enjoy her destruction to foment that in an incremental fashion because of the accurately perceived weakness that our enemies and other countries who interests are not the same as our own see in Obama and his regime. They know this stranger lover will throw his own under the bus in order to be loved by those that hate him. He's a deranged narcissist and cannot help himself. The result is that those outside out circle have grown hungry in their appetite for our destruction and the destruction of of allies. It's a case of malignant and pro-active schadenfreude on their part.

So some will ask, why not bring these people into our inner circle? I will ask, will that change their intentions, and if you believe so, show me an example where that was true. I believe it is good to have talks that build common ground if possible, but sooner or later the white elephant in the room will have to be dealt with, whatever that is. Diplomacy has mixed results here at best. It's a poker game where every tool in the toolbox must be brought to the game. Obama & Co. think they can get it done with just one tool. The problem is that these problems are out of the scope of community leaders and their normal solution of spreading around walking around money. Talk is cheap, especially with those that are resolute.

So where does this leave us? In the case of Israel with the Jihadist Flotilla, They have a few choices. All have their consequences. When the commandoes boarded the boat, they actually didn't expect the resistance they received and actually wished to pursue more peaceful methods of interdicting. It didn't go well and it will not be repeated, I assure you. it was a one shot deal. The Israelis have a legitimate concern about these "humanitarian" boats bringing weapons to Gaza. What was found on the boats justifies their concern, yet we have the mess.

Ultimately, Israel will do what they have to do to protect their interests. Obama should be supportive and the truth supports that position. The problem is he is breaking his back trying to get our enemies to love him, or at least not hate him. The time has come for tough talk. All tools need to be put on the table and shown to these despots and other half rate and third world idiots of what their options are. The problem is, what are our options? Frankly, we are over extended. What could we do?

The bottom line is that in a dangerous world where certain countries are becoming more dangerous. While we should avoid posturing and also becoming over extended, we need to send a message that cuts through all the noise.

The United States will defend itself against all enemies foreign and domestic with extreme prejudice.

The United States will support our allies in the face of aggression. We will defend them if asked.

The United States will use all tools available in diplomacy. Nothing is off the table.

The United States will judge it's relationships not by words, but by actions, and their will be accountability.

The United States will no longer support countries financially or otherwise that "Take the piss" on us.

After these statements of facts are made, then our actions must match them. The model for this was created by Ronald Reagan and modified by me. I would be slightly more hard ass. Again, actions must match words, or it's meaningless. It is like the guy that says, you better not cross this line, then the other guy crosses it, and he draws another one and makes the same demand again. It's a recipe for being playing and being feckless. It done by the Farm Animals® in Europe, but obviously it has not served them well.

The real bottom line is that the rest of the world is behaving like a petulant, obstinate child whose behavior has been reinforced by doing nothing. It's time for some tough love. If we want this double standard to stop, we must be willing to stand up and say enough is enough. Neville Chamberlain has been dead a long time and unfortunately was reanimated in November of 2008. It's time to send him back. We know where his pusillanimity lead, and it's no different this time around.

Leftists blast Rand Paul for Pro-Israel stance

“Israel and the United States have a special relationship. With our shared history and common values, the American and Israeli people have formed a bond that unites us across the many thousands of miles between our countries and calls us to work together towards peace and prosperity for our countries.” -- Rand Paul, Republican US Senate nominee, Kentucky

by Eric Dondero

With the Israeli attacks on the Muslim Terrorist Flotilla front and center in the news, some interesting political dynamics have opened up. Leftists who may have been attracted to Ron Paul in past campaigns, are now openly distancing themselves from the campaign of his libertarian-conservative son Rand Paul for US Senate. And they appear to be doing so primarly over his views on Defense matters, particularly the younger Paul's steadfast support for Israel.

Kelly Vlahos is a freelance reporter in Washington D.C. She is a former reporter for the Socialist Workers News and currently rights for the Pat Buchanan supporting, paleo American Conservative magazine. She's a frequent guest on Pacifica Radio, Democracy Now!, and Al Jazeera.

She recently penned an editorial at AntiWar.com, "Rand Paul Drinks Tea, Turns Into Hawk?"

Vlahos leads off:

Today, Paul’s son Rand is one step closer to becoming a U.S. senator, giving him a platform exceeding that of his libertarian father’s on Capitol Hill. This development should be a major boon for antiwar activists and civil libertarians who have long relied on the elder Paul and his “revolution” as a reasonable voice for non-intervention...

But after months of a grueling primary, it is not yet clear where the younger Paul’s savvy campaigning ends and his true ideological impulses begin, particularly on national security and foreign policy.

Vlahos then goes on to criticize Paul's strong defense of Israel, and even accuses him of being too much like the staunchly Pro-Israel George W. Bush:

More recently, he publicly chose sides with Israel on the politically explosive issue of Middle East peace. This seems so oddly forced and out of place that it might only be explained as more pandering to the right wing:

“I would never vote to place trade restrictions on Israel, and I would filibuster any attempts to place sanctions on Israel or tariffs on any Israeli goods.

“The issue of Palestine is incredibly difficult and complex. The entire world wishes for peace in the region, but any arrangement or treaty must come from Israel, when she is ready and when her conditions have been met.

“I strongly object to the arrogant approach of Obama administration, itself a continuation of the failures of past U.S. administrations, as they push Israel to make security concessions behind thinly veiled threats.

“Only Israel can decide what is in her security interest, not America and certainly not the United Nations. Friends do not coerce friends to trade land for peace, or to give up the vital security interests of their people.”

It all sounds too much like the last administration for some of his early supporters to bear.

Christine Smith of Colorado, who has an AntiWar blog cites some Pro-Defense positions of Rand Paul, including "Supports military tribunals for Guantanamo detainees" rather than given the same constitutional rights of American citizens.

the last thing we need is to become identified with another right wing conservative with stances so anti-freedom. The positions above I consider to be antithetic to limited government and respect for individual liberty

I will never support someone who is just another conservative... This is why I do not support Rand Paul...

Meanwhile, another prominent AntiWar activist aligned with groups such as Code Pink is Justin Raimondo (AntiWar.com). He says of the younger Paul:

I wouldn’t give Rand Paul the time of day.

Raimondo in a recent editorial criticized Paul for his comments in favor of defending Israel from a nuclear attack by Iran in the Middle East.

Raimondo is of course, a prime 9/11 Truther who suggests in his soon-to-be-released book "The Terror Enigma: Israel and the 911 Connection" that Israel itself was behind the attacks.

Carol Moore, a longtime Leftist Libertarian activists acknowledges on her blog CarolMoore.net that Raimondo is known to harbor "alleged anti-Semitism." She describes Raimondo, Managing Editor for AntiWar.com as "The most vehement and unceasing libertarian critic of Israel."

Attacks from fringe types such as Raimondo, Vlahos and Smith, can only help Paul to win election in the Fall among traditionalist fiercely pro-military/pro-defense Kentucky voters.

World’s most famous Anti-Islamo-Fascist may be in ruling coalition of Netherlands next week

Geert Wilders looks more and more certain to be a member of the ruling coalition of the Netherlands after next week's election.

Ed West of the London Telegraph reports, "Geert Wilders may be in government next week," June 3:

Anyone wishing to glance at the future of British politics, were the public to vote for PR, would do well to look across the pond to the Netherlands, where a general election is taking place next Wednesday.

If opinion polls are to believed the next government will be formed by the two major centre-Right parties, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the Christian Democrats.

Like in Britain, the 43-year-old centre-Right leader, Mark Rutte of the classically liberal VVD, needs to make the budget deficit the major priority. Like in Britain, he cannot form an overall majority, even with the Christian Democrats.

So he either tries to form an alliance with Labour, which – like its British namesake – refuses to face up to economic reality, or he can form a government with the most famous blond in Europe. That will certainly shake things up...

Bill Ayres tactics used in Muslim Terrorist flotilla attack on Israel

From Cliff Thies:

The following is a link to 3 video clips of the boarding of the ship that attempted to break the Isaeli/Egyptian blockade of Gaza:

See other two videos at Cypress Times.

From the clips, it is clear that some of those aboard the ship were anxious for, and planned a confrontation. Others may have spontaneously joined in, due to the emotion.

That is, the clips show that a variety of weapons were on board, either smuggled or fashioned on board, such as wooden and metal clubs and "home-made" bombs, but also including some stun grenades and long knives.

The clips also showed that persons on board the ship initiated violence against the IDF forces boarding or attempting to board the ship by small boat or by rappelling off a helicopter.

The first couple commandoes alighting the ship from the helicopter were overwhelmed by those on the boat, and, it can be surmised, only after several others also alighted the ship were they able, with the use of deadly force, able to defend themselves and take charge of the ship.

Obviously, the purpose of the confrontation was to radlicalize Muslims and to appeal to mush-brained liberals throughout the world. '60s radical like Bill Ayers, who is reported to have supported the effort, would know all about such things.

Sarah Palin: Hamas Terrorists and Turkey Government to blame, not Israel

From Eric Dondero:

Sarah Palin blasted the liberal media for siding with Islamists and the Turkish government in reporting on the Israeli flotilla attacks. Excerpts from her Facebook page, Tuesday:

As far too many in the media, and in various governments, rush to condemn Israel, we must put the recent events off Israel’s coast into the right perspective. This “relief” convoy was not about humanitarian aid, as the liberal mainstream media keeps reporting. The whole operation was designed to provoke Israel, not to provide supplies to Palestinians held hostage by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Anyone who sees the video of Israeli commandos being attacked as they land on that ship knows the people aboard were vicious thugs, not “peace activists.” The media insults our intelligence with their outright mischaracterization of who these enemies are.

Israel has a right to prevent arms shipments to Gaza that will be used to target innocent Israelis...

As one expert points out: “Three ships of that six-ship pro-terror convoy flew Turkish flags and were crowded with Turkish citizens. The Ankara government – led by Islamists these days – sponsored the ‘aid’ operation in a move to position itself as the new champion of the Palestinians. And Turkish decision-makers knew Israel would have to react – and were waiting to exploit the inevitable clash. The provocation was as cynical as it was carefully orchestrated.”

We can only hope the Obama Administration does not join the anti-Israel chorus in the aftermath of this staged confrontation.

Note - Palin has endorsed a slew of Pro-Israel Republicans in the 2010 primaries, including Carly Fiorina for US Senate in California, Nikki Haley for SC Governor, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Allen West for Congress - Florida, and Rand Paul for US Senate in Kentucky.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. has a Republican opponent

From Eric Dondero:

Meet Isaac Hayes. No, not that Isaac Hayes. The same name is purely coincidental. This Isaac Hayes is the Republican nominee for US Congress in Il CD-2. The District includes the southside of Chicago to the Indiana border.

Hayes is a graduate of ISU, a young entrepreneur and a staff minister for Youth Ministries.

He was recently interviewed by RedState radio:

We need someone who has honesty and integrity leading this district. He is the third consecutive congressman to be clouded in scandal in the 2nd congressional district. Gus Savage. Mel Reynolds before him. And now my opponent. We haven't had a break from corruption. We just need someone who can get through office without being caught up in scandal and corrpution.

Hayes's top issue: Education. He's a fierce proponent of vouchers and tuition tax credits:

The answer is not just more money. The answer is competition.

School vouchers open the door of possibility for our children to attend better and more racially integrated schools. Our legislators overwhelmingly send their children to private schools in DC because they can afford to. Even our current president enrolled his two daughters in private school. Unfortunately, the communities that are experiencing poor academic performance cannot afford to pay for alternative schools. School vouchers and tax credits can help to offset that disparity.

Iceland’s Capitol has a new Libertarian Mayor

Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, routinely refers to himself as a "libertarian." Now another major European city is confirmed to have a libertarian Mayor.

From the Icedland Review on-line, June 6:

When icelandreview.com called the Best party a “joke party” earlier this spring a spokesman for the party complained. However, the party seems to be very hard to define on old fashioned political scales. Nobody can deny that party leader, Jón Gnarr, is a comedian, and one of the most popular in Iceland.

He is also a member of the Libertarian Society in Iceland according to an article in Morgunbladid. The party campaigned for putting a polar bear in the domestic zoo in Reykjavík. It also said that it would do “all sorts of things” for “wretched” people and a drug free Althingi (Iceland's Parliament) by 2020.

See Gnarr's campaign video "Simply the Best," at our sister site WorldwideLiberty.

The Libertarian Society website features videos of Margaret Thatcher, Milton Friedman, Penn Jilete, and Peter Schiff, many translated into Icelandic.

LR Publisher quoted on Rand Paul in NY Times

From the Editor:

I was interviewed by the New York Times last week. They called wanting some background information and further contacts on a story about the Paul family.

The article is titled "For Paul Family, Libertarian Ethos Began at Home". The reporter is Mark Leibovich. It's been picked up by the Seattle Times and a number of other publications.

Here's a taste:

While Mr. Paul’s laissez-faire views produced a family of likeminded thinkers — “We’re all on board,” says the oldest son, Ronnie Paul — they inspired the middle child, Rand, to follow his father’s career path, first into medicine and now politics. If he prevails in November after winning the Republican nomination for a Senate seat in Kentucky last month, he and his father would form a two-man libertarian dynasty.

And here's the relevent backgound, and my quote:

Friends of the family describe a traditional household with early American décor and the frequent aroma of Mrs. Paul’s chocolate chip cookies, if not fish sticks. They have lived since July 4, 1968, in the same middle-class enclave of Lake Jackson, where the streets are named for trees, flowers and fauna (the Pauls live on Blossom). They owned a series of collies (Julie, Kippy and Cricket) and a Maltese (Liberty), and the kids were expected, though not required, to feed the pooches, make their own beds, clear their own dishes from the table and not talk back to their elders.

“They were a very Brady Bunch-type American family,” said Eric Dondero, a longtime former aide to Ron Paul. “As different as their politics are, their personal life was very normal.”

And the winner is… Scott Taylor for US Congress – Virginia GOP Primary

ex-Navy Seal clearly most libertarian even on Drug Issue

From Eric Dondero:

The Tidewater Libertarian Party in Virginia has decided to exert itself into the Republican primary for US Congress District 2 (eastern shore). While they are not making an explicit endorsement, they are doing the next best thing; requesting answers from all the contenders on controversial issues and publishing them on their website in detail.

The primary will be held June 8. It is a tight race for the nomination. The current Rep. is Gerald Nye, a Democrat, who is considered very vulnerable.

So far, three candidates have responded to the Libertarian Party call. All three gave very libertarian responses to just about all the questions. In fact, they're virtually indistinguishable, except for the style of their responses, and their emphasis.

Of the 10 questions, there was only one area where differences emerged; allowing states to decide on drug legalization.

Ben Loyola, who is considered to be the frontrunner in the race, stated:

I oppose efforts to legalize drugs, and feel there is a federal interest in interdiction of drug trafficking.

In fairness, on all other questions Loyola took a libertarian stance. This included a question on a national i.d. He would oppose such a plan.

The 2nd candidate Bert Misusawa answered "Yes" he would support allowing states to decide on legalization. But he added, "first we must define victimless," crime.

To Question 6, Should the federal government defer all law regarding victimless crime, including drug use to the states...?

Scott Taylor simply answered "Yes."

Taylor answered purely libertarian on all other questions, including: 2nd Amendment, eminent domain, blocking the EPA from imposing CO2 emissions, privatizing Social Security and Medicare, No on any and all bailouts, and No on national i.d.

Pro-Defense libertarians will be most pleased with his answer on the use of Military force overseas. Taylor responded:

I do not believe in nation building. However, if meddling consists of matters that have to do with national defense I support it.

Taylor is a retired Navy Seal. He is a combat Vet having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Georgia Tea Party Republican for Congress: Government should just run the Army, maintain Waterways, and keep our Borders secure

"a strong libertarian bent"

Tom Parrot is running for Congress in Georgia's 7th CD. He is an Air Force Veteran, and a CPA. He's a straight shooter:

At the core of our success as a nation is our commitment to freedom. In running for this office, I am fighting for the preservation of the Constitution because I understand the need to defend the Freedoms and Rights given to all Americans.

Parrot was highlighted by the Seattle Times, in an article on anti-incumbent Republicans running in 2010 - "About 2,300 running for Congress, most in decades":

"I guess it's a mild form of civil unrest," said Tom Parrott, a 59-year-old accountant who is making his first run for office as one of nine candidates in central Georgia's 7th Congressional District race. "I'm willing to spend 30 or 40 grand of my own money to get the chance to speak to people and maybe get my point across that we're really, really in trouble."

Parrott, who is running as a Republican and identifies with the tea party, said he has a strong libertarian bent. Obama's health-care law was the "straw that broke the camel's back" in his decision to run, he said.

"I'm not a wacko," he said. "I just think the government would be better if they just butt out and do the things they're supposed to do like running an army and maintaining waterways and keeping our borders safe."

Parrot is libertarian right down the line, most especially Military/Defense. From his campaign website:

Strong national defense - History shows that every time this nation has lost its strong military resolve, it has provoked attacks against our nation.

I will never forget December 7, 1941, and I will never forget September 11, 2001. If we attempt to appease those who attack us, we only invite more attacks.

California endorsements from Libertarian Republicans?

From the Editor:

We received an interesting email yesterday from a regular reader, wondering why we haven't listed any endorsements in the California Republican primary races next week. The emailer was quite serious, even suggesting that he'd take our recommendations into the voting booth with him, and vote "for the most Libertarian Republican candidates."

In the words of Republican Liberty Caucus Chairman Dave Nalle, the California RLC this year is playing it "very conservative." They've only endorsed 5 candidates, none of whom are statewide. They have stayed out of the hot Senate race, and the Governors race.

As our regular readers are aware, we follow the lead on endorsements of the RLC. Our fall-back position is Sarah Palin's endorsements. Since the RLC has not endorsed in the Senate race, and Sarah Palin has, I feel it safe to suggest to LR readers that Carly Fiorina be the best choice for the US Senate. This is my personal endorsement and does not reflect the views of our editorial board. Though, I'm confident that most if not all our editors, writers agree with me.

She may not be the most libertarian of the three. Chuck DeVore may edge her out on that score. But she is sufficiently libertarian, and certainly the most electable. Carly's solid on Defense and National Security. Campbell has some questionable views, and past ties to radical Islamists. Vote "libertarian lite." Vote Carly Fiorina!

Republican-friendly Wayne Root wins seat on Libertarian National Committee

From Eric Dondero:

Culturally Republican and more mainstream leaning Libertarians now have at least one friend on the Libertarian National Committee. Family values-oriented author of "Millionaire Republican," Wayne Root lost his race for the National Chairmanship of the LP, however, he gained a spot on the coveted LNC. From a Root press release:

Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee, was elected to the Libertarian National Committee on Sunday at the Libertarian National Convention in St Louis. Root was the leading vote getter- finishing first among a field of 13 candidates, including former National Chairman Bill Redpath, Founder of the Libertarian Party David Nolan, former Presidential contender Mary Ruwart, and former Superior Court Judge James Gray. Root now joins the Board of "America's Third Party" to provide leadership and management decisions through 2012.

Root said of his victory, "I am honored and humbled to have been the leading vote-getter out of a field of 13 candidates, that included the legends and celebrities of Libertarian politics. Now it's time to move quickly to capitalize on the perfect moment in time for Libertarians, independents, fiscal conservatives, Tea Party activists, and any American voter looking for smaller government, dramatically reduced spending, lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and sanity. I will fight to turn the Libertarian Party into a 'big tent' for all of these voters. We must turn our party into a coalition of voters who will take back our country from big government, big unions, big corporations and corrupt incumbent politicians. Let the citizen revolution begin."

Root will now help to oversee the LP's annual budget, ballot access decisions, and campaign efforts to elect Libertarians to state and local offices.

The Libertarian Party’s best chance at a State Legislator for 2010

From Eric Dondero:

Brendan Kelly attended the Libertarian Party National Convention last weekend held in St. Louis. Kelly is an elected Town Selectman in Seabrook, New Hampshire. He just won reelection in March beating 3 other candidates.

Kelly served as a "Wayne Root delegate," but was also there to raise awareness and funds for his campaign for NH State House. He is also a Pro-Defense Libertarian, a Veteran, and member of the Libertarian Defense Caucus.

In 2008, Kelly ran for the same seat. He placed 6th out of 8 candidates vying for the position. The top 4 vote-getters win election in the At-large district. This year, he explained to Libertarian Republican, he has the best shot of any candidate. He is the only elected official running. All incumbents voted in for 2008 have decided against a run du to the budget mess in Concord.

Kelly is very confident he'll win a seat. A total of 9 candidates have filed. Again the top 4 vote-getters win election. And Kelly was the only one of the 9 on the ballot in 2008.

His win would mark the first time the LP has had a state legislator in office since 1998.

From Kelly's website:

I've just been re-elected to another three-year term as a selectman in my hometown of Seabrook, NH, and now I'm running as a Libertarian candidate for the NH State House in Rockingham District 14.

Because I'll be a Libertarian candidate who is looking to restore our American Republic and return the operation of our government to the people, I'm seeking and accepting donations to my campaign from those who are in support of the Libertarian Party principles and the restoration of our great country.
