And we had a very strong month with the domestic up 12%, driven primarily by a significant increase in pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. So apologies to global warming. So we can't seem to get it politically correct."

When it came to discussing the bailout of GM and Chrysler, Mike had this to say, "I still believe -- and it pains me to say this as a libertarian Republican, the economy was so bad in '08 and '09. unfortunately, there had to be government intervention. And i'm glad we have an American automobile -- i'm glad we have an American automobile today."

Editor's comment - Mike, the economy is far worse today in 2011 than it was in '08.

"Slaughter the sacred cows" of NEA, PBS, NPR and Planned Parenthood

Mitt Romney is singing music to libertarian ears. A few high agenda items on the cut first agenda for libertarians, have been adopted by the former Massachusetts Governor.

He told USAToday:

"Washington is full of sacred cows that supposedly can't be slaughtered and electrified third rails that allegedly can't be touched..."

NewsMax (Romney Pitches Deep Arts Cuts, Ending Programs to Tame Debt) has further details of his large spending reduction plan to be unveiled later today. He will be speaking to the Koch-backed libertarian group Americans For Prosperity.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney proposed deep cuts in federal subsidies for public broadcasting and the arts and limiting government spending to only “essential” programs in a debt-reduction plan he said would pull the nation from a fiscal precipice.

The former Massachusetts governor said the program he outlined today would whittle down the rate of federal spending and slash $500 billion from the budget by 2016, the end of his first term if he is elected next year.

The more formal address on spending and debt will be delivered Friday at an event sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, a tea party-aligned fiscally conservative group.

Oslo has seen approximately 50 assault rape cases in the past year. Reported rapes have increased by 84 percent since 2001, and there have been 929 in Norway on a national basis in 2011 so far... six new attacks, two of them without consent had been reported by Monday.

One woman in her 20s was raped at an apartment in Sandaker early on Saturday morning, after meeting a man on the Internet then voluntarily accompanying him home. The man, who is also in his 20s, was indicted and then released.

On Saturday evening, two 16-year-old girls reported two men raped them at Oslo S train station. Five males aged 16 to 20 were arrested on Saturday evening.

In other incidents, two men attacked and raped an 18-year-old woman in Vaterlandsparken early on Sunday morning near the Oslo Plaza hotel in Grønland in the city centre. The sixth victim, in her 20s, reported a person had tried to force her to give oral sex in a pirate taxi in nedre Grünerløkka.

police say foreigners committed at least two of the weekend’s attacks.

The Bislet rapists were born in Sri Lanka and Iran. Those arrested for the Oslo S rapes are from Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the pirate taxi assailant is believed to be a Somali. Moreover, it is suspected foreigners committed 45 of the 48 assault rapes so far this year.

Norwegian-Somali Kadra Yusuf says her foreign roots make her feel very uneasy about the situation.

“I would far rather walk behind an “Ola” than and “Ahmed” if I’m on my way home late at night. I find saying this makes me feel extremely uncomfortable because I have brothers and friends who are dark-skinned, but it has become part of Oslo’s reality.”

Police step up the fight against the rape wave

Up until now it was impossible for the police to stop the wave of rapes in Oslo. Now chief of police Anstein Gjengdahl has had enough, and wants to strengthen departments related to violence...

Monday afternoon, after the complaints of assault-rapes over the weekend, leader of Gjengedahl Council Stian Berger Røisland convened a crisis meeting. Among the initiatives agreed upon was the installation of new light bulbs in the town, and traffic officers and guards to keep an eye out. The changing of light bulbs has already begun. bootleggers, bodega owners and even corrupt cops peddling black market cigarettes. The high price of cigarettes has prompted tales reminiscent of the prohibition days of the 1920s when alcohol was illegal.

Smugglers often drive truckloads of smokes into the city from cheaper outlets, such as Indian reservations where no sales tax is collected, and affix fake tax stamps on packs.

A recent General Accounting Office report calculated that a trip from Virginia to New York City with a single case of 12,000 cigarettes -- about what would fit in the trunk of the average car -- could net $3,000.

"It's astonishing how much revenue is being lost to the black market," said Scott Drenkard, an analyst with the Tax Foundation, a non-partisan think tank.

New Yorkers are also resorting to an age old trick of just rolling their own cigarettes.

At Island Smokes, customers pay $3 a pack if they make a carton of cigarettes. By comparison, one pack of 20 cigarettes averages $11-$13 a pack in the city and can be as high as $15.

Predictably, the bureaucrats are getting pissed at all the lost revenue:

Ibrahim Siddiq-Conlon is up to his old stunts again, this time starting a Face book page, “The Australian Defence Force: The Real Terrorists” in which he listed every Australian killed in the Afghanistan campaign and accused them of being terrorists because of their military service.

Siddiq-Conlon has received a great deal of attention here in Australia these past few years for establishing the Sharia4Australia movement. Conlon who sees democracy as a ‘challenge to Gods law’ wants to live under Sharia, and wants it imposed on all of us to stop us drinking beer, eating pork, and all the rest of those things his cult is intolerant towards.

It is uncertain what the attraction for such a drab and wretched lifestyle is with its women covered from head to toe, and most fun things like drinking booze, rock and roll, chatting up chicks, banned. Perhaps it’s the opportunity to be a member of the morals police, who get their jollies by whipping chicks who show a bit too much ankle, sort of like a male dominatrix force with the consensual aspect omitted.

His hate site has been taken down after the ADF received complaints and notified the Australian Federal Police and Facebook. If it were not the hurt it has caused the families of soldiers who have lost their lives there, it may have been for the best to leave it up. There is something positive in allowing the public to see it and assess for themselves just what a piece of shit he really is.

Five party bosses have been executed in North Korea, and a sixth committed suicide, The first question in everybody's mind was, of course, who would get their food rations.

According to the World Food Program, as many as 6 million of the 24 million people of North Korea are at risk of starvation. People are emaciated from hunger, susceptible to disease, and routinely resort to cannibalism. Most of the children are so malnourished, that their development has been severely stunted. Their height, their bone formation and their brain capacity are all well below normal.

We haven't seen a disaster the likes of this since Pol Pot's Cambodia, Mao's China, and Stalin's Russia.

Roaming campus carrying an AK-47, fled into the woods

A former student at a North Carolina university who was seen carrying an assault rifle on campus was shot by police Saturday before being taken into custody.

University police on patrol at Elizabeth City State University, N.C., about 50 miles south of Norfolk, Va., saw students running from part of the campus and saying they had seen a man with a rifle... gunshots were fired on campus... The campus was put on lockdown. Officers saw a man wielding an assault rifle, and he was shot by an officer during a confrontation.

The suspect, who was not identified except as a male former Elizabeth City student, fled into a wooded area near the campus while still armed, Beamon said. Elizabeth City Police Department... dispatched officers and a K9 unit to locate the man.

Suspect - Rashaad Gardner - charged with terrorism

Update from local NBC News Channel 10 WAVY.com, "ECSU gunman pointed AK-47 at officers":

Police say Rashaad Gardner is charged with assault by pointing a gun, possession of a weapon on state educational property, and going armed to the terror of the people. Gardner is being held in the Albemarle District Jail on $50,000 bond.

A spokesperson for ECSU police says at least one officer shot Gardner in the leg after he pointed an AK-47 at police.

Police say they asked Gardner to drop the gun repeatedly but he refused.

It's "a great development"

Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post scored an interview with Budget Chairman and Ayn Randist Republican Rep. Paul Ryan immediately after Mitt Romney released his budget proposal on Friday.

Ryan was enthused and came very close to endorsing the former Massachusetts Governor.

Ryan told me, Look at what he put out! This is a great development. It shows that the elusive adult conversation is taking place, but all on one side.” He ticked off the proposals including block-granting, cutting the federal workforce and entitlement reform. He said, “This tracks perfectly with the House budget.” He was careful not to forget the other GOP candidates, adding that “Romney and others are serious” about real fiscal reform.

On defense he's firmly in the "hawk" camp

On another matter of particular interest to pro-defense libertarians, Ryan praised Romney for not backing deep defense cuts.

I asked him about Romney’s decision to offer traditional Medicare as one option in the premium support plan. He said that he and former Fed vice chairwoman Alice Rivlin had discussed that idea, and so long as the government, as Romney detailed, would provide a capped amount to be used either for traditional Medicare or for private plans, the same cost savings could be obtained under Romney’s plan as under the plan Ryan proposed as part of the 2012 budget. Ryan deemed this approach as “perfectly in keeping with serious reform.”

On the defense side, the congressman pointed out that Romney, like Ryan, did not take an ax to defense. According to Ryan, this places Romney firmly in the “hawk” camp, while setting forth attainable means for getting spending down to 20 percent or lower of GDP.

I’m watching The Goonies on ABC Family with my daughter today. In the scene where Chunk calls the police to report that he’s locked in the Fratelli’s basement with Sloth, the officer on the phone naturally thinks Chunk is making up a story.

In the uncensored version of this ’80s classic film, the officer on the phone with Chunk, in his disbelief, says, “Like the time you told me about the 50 Iranian terrorists who took over all the Sizzler Steakhouses in the city? … Just like that last prank about all those little creatures that multiply when you throw water on them?”

Wait. Did you miss it? What was worth censoring there? Could it be that ABC (owned by Disney) has a problem with Gremlins? Nope. Is there some history of bad blood between The Mouse and The Steakhouse? It doesn’t seem that way. Is ABC afraid of terrorists, or simply the mention of the word terrorist?

As Schlussel confirms, ABC Family bleeped out the phrase "Iranian terrorist."

Not knowing to quit when he was behind, Barack Obama has caused something of a minor international incident at the meeting of the G-20. First, he congratulated Nicholas Sarkozy of France on the good looks of his and his wife's new child, a baby girl.

Good thing she inherited her mother's looks and not yours, said our ever witty President, apparently not realizing that Sarkozy is rather proud of his own good looks. Then, just to make all the gathered heads of state certain that his awkward remark shouldn't be taken very seriously, as nothing that he doesn't read off a teleprompter should, he followed up with, "And so now we share one of the greatest challenges and blessings of life, and that is being fathers to our daughters."

The President of France should consider how fortunate he is that he is the father of his daughters?

Now, a great American fast food chain is about to keel under Muslim pressure to go halal. Popeyes stores throughout North America may soon become halal-compliant.

According to the Toronto Star:

A group of Muslim restaurant franchisees is fighting fast-food chain Popeyes Louisiana Chicken in court over the right to sell hand-slaughtered Halal meat for religious reasons

Seems Popeyes corporate recently made the decision to switch to quicker, more effiecient and more painless for the chickens, slaughter by machine, rather than by hand.

The Muslims are having none of it. And are threatening a boycott.

Occupy Wall Street encouraging rise in Anti-Semitism?

We've all seen the stereotypes; white guy, loser blue collar dude, probably shave head, wearing a swastika or attending some NeoNazi rally in Montana or Idaho.

Turns out, that old stereotype is way outdated.

The new face of Anti-Semitism is much more likely to be black or Hispanic. (Such as the infamous Anti-Semite Occupy L.A. demonstrator Patricia McCallister in the photo)

You have to dig deep in the mainstream media reports to discover these findings. In the following Orlando Sentinnel piece it was buried in paragraph 11 of a 13 paragraph piece.

In the report's demographic section, 42 percent of Hispanic immigrants percent held anti-Semitic views, versus 20 percent of Hispanics born in the U.S. ...29 percent of African Americans held strongly anti-Semitic views, much higher than Whites.

The Sentinel piece (or other media) did not even give the exact percentage for Whites, which was less than 10%.

Jewish "shady" money grabbers who "hold too much power" on Wall Street don't you know...

A regional manager in Florida for the ADL is quoted:

“We’re obviously troubled,” said [David] Barkey, ADL's counsel for six states including Florida. “With attitudes come conduct. We could potentially have more people who engage in anti-Semitic actions.”

It gets worse. Occupy Wall Street may be helping to boost Anti-Jewish sentiment.

Continuing:

Thirty-five million Americans hold “deeply anti-Semitic views,” according to a new survey by the Anti-Defamation League. The number, representing 15 percent of Americans, is 3 percent higher than a similar survey found two years ago.

The survey of 1,754 adults found many believe it was “probably true” that Jews have “too much power in the U.S.” and in the business world, wield too much control or influence on Wall Street, and are “more willing to use shady practices.”

No doubt, those who rail against capitalism, "Jewish bankers," and Jewish-controlled banking institutions, are adding gasoline to the fire. A 3 percent increase since two years ago, is certainly no accident.

Today, the Hutton Hotel in Nashville, TN slammed the door on the United States Constitution and the right to free speech due to threats which we perceive came from the Islamic community. The location was the planned host for the Preserving Freedom Conference to be held on November 11, 2011. With less than three weeks prior to the event and after accepting payments from many attendees and sponsors, Nashville's Hutton Hotel backed out of the contract as location host of the event, citing threatening letters and phone calls demanding the conference be cancelled.

Steve Eckley, Senior Vice President of Hutton Hotel, contacted Lou Ann Zelenik, Executive Director of Tennessee Freedom Coalition (TFC) on October 24, 2011, and told her they would not honor the contract signed in August 2011 for the Preserving Freedom Conference and therefore, would not allow the conference to take place at the hotel. Eckley advised they had received many threatening telephone calls and letters. When questioned by others if the hotel had contacted local law enforcement agencies, FBI or Homeland Security to advise them of these threats, Eckley advised they had not and that he simply cancelled the conference instead. Eckley also cited threats from callers advising they would show up and protest against the event, however, refused to cite who these calls were from or what groups/protesters would be present.

The Board of Directors of the Tennessee Freedom Coalition and the Sharia Awareness Action Network (SAAN) are committed to securing another site and holding the November 11, 2011 Preserving Freedom Conference event as planned.

There will be more information available soon, but we must do what we can to hold this hotel accountable for this decision to limit the free speech of law-abiding citizens.
