The Flash Movie Is Rumored to Feature Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman – MovieWeb

The recently delayed DC movie, The Flash, is looking to add another superhero to its ever-growing roster, with Gal Gadot reportedly in talks reprise the role of Wonder Woman for director Andy Muschietti's upcoming superhero extravaganza. Details are scarce regarding what Wonder Woman's role in the movie would involve, but it appears that Warner Bros. is looking to include her in a small supporting role.

The Flash will take inspiration from the comic arc The Flashpoint Paradox, which sees the Fastest Man Alive travel back in time in order to save his mother. However, his meddling with time finds the Flash emerging in a bleaker universe in which the Amazons and Atlanteans are at war. This alternate version of the DC universe finds Bruce Wayne dead, killed at the hands of the same criminal who murders his parents in the original timeline. This leads to Thomas Wayne taking up the mantle of Batman, and applying his own, much more violent tactics.

How closely The Flash will stick to these elements of the source material is largely unknown, but it is possible that Gal Gadot will feature in the movie as the same alternate version of Wonder Woman that has gone to war with the Atlanteans as this is more of a background plot point secondary to Flash trying to find his way back to his own universe.

Gal Gadot would be far from the only member of the DC cinematic universe to join The Flash, with the likes of Cyborg actor Ray Fisher also reportedly in negotiations to appear in some capacity.

The real excitement for The Flash though is the inclusion of both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as Batman. Fans have been left to wonder how the two very different versions of the Dark Knight will factor into proceedings, with director Andy Muschietti stating that Affleck at least will have a substantial role in the movie. "He's a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie," the director said recently. "The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck's Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven't seen before. It's Barry's movie, it's Barry's story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that's one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That's where the Affleck Batman kicks in."

As for Wonder Woman, the highly anticipated sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, finds the DC icon in 1984. During the Cold War, Diana Prince comes into conflict with two formidable foes, media businessman Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva, while reuniting with her mysteriously resurrected love interest Steve Trevor.

Almost the entire DC movie roster, including The Batman and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, has been pushed back with movies like Black Adam now removed from the release schedule entirely. The Flash has been delayed from June 3rd, 2022, to a few months later on November 4th, 2022, while Wonder Woman 1984 has (for now at least) stood firm on its release date of December 25, 2020. This comes to us from The Illuminerdi.

Justice League: 5 Members Who Can Beat The Hulk (& 5 Who Don’t Stand A Chance) – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Which Justice League members could defeat The Hulk? Which ones could the Hulk beat?

The Hulk is one of the most dangerous superbeings in the Marvel Universe- both to villains and the heroes sometimes. The Hulk is basically a giant rage monster and has been known to go on destructive rampages that have to be stopped by the heroes when all else fails. The madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets and that, combined with his amazing durability and healing factor, make him a threat to anyone who crosses him.

RELATED: World War Hulk: 5 Ways It Aged Well (& 5 Ways It Hasn't)

The Justice League is one of the most powerful assemblages of heroes in any superhero universe, always ready for the worst, be it supervillains, alien invasions, or destructive universal phenomena. If the Hulk were rampaging through the DC Universe, how would the members of the Justice League manage?

Let's get this out of the way- Superman can beat the Hulk. It's one of those age old questions but the answer is actually very easy- Superman wins. Superman fights some of the most dangerous villains around, so he's ready for just about anything and while the Hulk is formidable, in the end, he's just a guy who smashes things.

Superman has fought way worse and beyond that, he starts off vastly stronger and faster than the Hulk. Once he sees just what he's dealing with, he's going to cut loose against the Hulk and there's just so much he can do that the Hulk doesn't have an answer for. The fight just wouldn't go on long enough for the Hulk to get powerful enough to take Superman out.

A long time ago, Batman and Hulk had a crossover and using poison gas, Batman was able to take Hulk out. Back then, Hulk was still vulnerable to things like that. Now a days? That wouldn't work. Batman is known for having a plan to take down anyone, but the Hulk would be a bridge too far for him.

Honestly, given enough time and data to analyze, Batman could probably come up with a counter measure to the Hulk but that would be after the Hulk already wiped the floor with him at least once. Batman has a lot of cool gadgets and weapons, but ask Iron Man how well cool gadgets and weapons work against the Hulk- the answer is not very well at all.

Saying the Flash can beat the Hulk is kind of a no brainer because the Flash can beat just about everybody. The Speed Force gives the Flash all kinds of powers, but beyond that, he's just extremely hard to hit. He can avoid pretty much any attack the Hulk throws at him or phase through it, giving him an ultimate defense advantage.

RELATED: Hulk: 5 Things Ang Lee's Movie Got Right (& 5 It Got Wrong)

Hurting the Hulk would be hard for the Flash, especially since every missed attack would make the Hulk angrier. However, the Flash can always deploy the infinite mass punch, his most devastating attack. It would be a last resort but it would give the Flash the win.

Aquaman would put up a great fight against the Hulk, but it would ultimately be futile. The king of Atlantis is way tougher than anyone gives him credit for, having once held up a continental plate, but it's not going to matter much against the Hulk. Even with the Trident of Neptune, Aquaman just doesn't have the oomph to take the Hulk down before things get out of hand.

As a last resort, Aquaman could try his telepathy on the Hulk, but the Hulk's mind has proven pretty much impenetrable to all but the strongest of telepaths. Aquaman would give it his all but it wouldn't matter against the Hulk.

Shazam's breadth of powers make him a formidable opponent and one of the DC Universe's most underrated heroes. It's all of those powers that are going to allow him to triumph over the Hulk. The Hulk is one of the toughest beings around and only gets tougher, but he's sort of one dimensional threat- he can't fly and his only long range attacks are things he can throw; he's not even particularly fast.

Shazam has him beat in so many respects and while he might not go all out quick enough to punch the Hulk out before he gets too strong, his speed, flight, ability to call on magical lightning will allow him to triumph.

Hawkman has long been known as one of the toughest members of the Justice League. Armed with his Nth metal harness that enhances his strength and allows him to fly and his powerful Thangarian mace, many foes have fallen to Hawkman. The Hulk, however, would not be one of them.

Hawkman is an expert hand to hand combatant and as tough as they come but when it comes right down to it, there's just nothing he can do against the sheer power and rage of the Hulk. His flying hit and run attacks would just serve to anger the Jade Giant and while he could stay out of Hulk's way by flying, eventually he'd have to attack and one good shot would end it for him.

Wonder Woman has a lot going against her in a fight against the Hulk. While she has a definite mobility advantage- she's much faster and can fly- and strength advantage to start out with, the Hulk gets very strong very fast. His uncanny durability will keep him fighting long enough to get overwhelmingly strong but Wonder Woman's fighting skill and quick thinking are going to save the day for her.

RELATED: Worldbreaker Hulk: 15 Things He Can Do That Regular Hulk Can't

See, the Hulk still needs oxygen and Wonder Woman has an unbreakable lasso. As things get worse, Wonder Woman is going to take the best option- getting Hulk around the neck and flying him up in the air, cutting off his air flow until he's unconscious.

In the last few years, the Hulk has had some problems with archers- before the whole Immortal Hulk business, he was killed by an arrow shot by Hawkeye. The League has their own resident archer, one who also has a quiver full of all kinds of trick arrows but unlike Hulk's erstwhile Avengers teammate, Green Arrow doesn't have one designed for use against the Hulk.

Green Arrow will certainly give it the old college try but when it comes right down to it, all he'd do is rile the Hulk up, which is a certainly a bad idea. Hulk would easily smash Green Arrow.

One of the main reasons that Superman can beat the Hulk is because of all the powers he has. So, what if a hero had all of the same powers as Superman and then some? That's Martian Manhunter in a nut shell. He pretty much has every cool power a superhero can have and the experience and skill to back it all up.

Hulk just doesn't stand a chance against a shapeshifting telepath who can go invisible and intangible who also happens to have all of Superman's other powers at comparable levels. There's literally nothing the Hulk can do against an opponent that powerful. He'll certainly try but it won't do him a whole lot of good.

Cyborg is no slouch but he just doesn't have what it takes against the Hulk. He's strong, but Hulk's stronger. While he can muster up some long range attacks, what good have lasers and sound cannons ever done against the Hulk in the past? His control of technology makes him a dangerous foe but how would it help him against a rage monster with infinite strength?

None of Cyborg's powers and skills would do him much good against the Hulk. He'd give it a try, of course, but the Hulk would quickly overwhelm him.

James Cameron, who served as a producer on Alita: Battle Angel, has confirmed that the film will making its return to theaters this month.

James Cameron has confirmed that Alita: Battle Angel will be making its return to movie theaters this month. The film, which was released in2019 and expected to bomb, grossed an impressive $404 million globally and $85 million domestically against a $170 million budget. Alita: Battle Angel was also met with a warm response from critics and fans alike, currently resting at a fresh 61 percent critical and 92 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Alita: Battle Angel, an adaptation of the manga entitled Battle Angel Alita, centers on a cyborg who is revived by a scientist and cannot remember her past. As a result, she sets out on her own to fill in the missing pieces of her memory and rediscover who she truly is as she crosses paths with a wide variety of colorful characters. The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and co-written and produced by Cameron, stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, and Keean Johnson. While fans continue to wait to hear news about a possible follow-up to the film, James Cameron has revealed that they can revisit the original film in theaters very soon.

In his tweet, Cameron states,"We're with you #AlitaArmy Alita's coming back to the big screen on October 30th." The full tweet from the director is below.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, movie theaters are currently struggling tremendously to stay afloat. Many big releases that theater chains were hoping to generate sizable revenue have been delayed due to the virus, such as No Time To Die and Black Widow. In fact, it was recently reportedthat Regalwould be closingtheir theaters indefinitely due to the current climate and lack of new releases. Conversely, AMC theaters will be remaining open for the time being, hoping to sustain business and ride out the storm. Naturally, many theater chains have thought about closing their doors yet again or showing older films that may appeal to their customers to keep their doors open.

Alita: Battle Angel receiving a second chance in theaters is wonderful news to hear, especially considering it was a delightful surprise when released last year, delivering an entertaining science fiction film with terrific visual effects and palpable energy. While the film has its passionate fanbase, it's hard not to feel it deserved more box office success and widespread notoriety. Since movie theaters won't show any highly anticipated new releases any time soon, this is a great chance for those who haven't yet seen the film to discover it for the first time. However, health and safety are a top priority at the moment, so the public may still be apprehensive about going to their local theaters and may choose to watch the film from the comfort of their own homes instead. Regardless, if fans are looking to revisit Alita: Battle Angel in theaters, they'll be able to do so sooner rather than later.

J.J. Abrams’ Version of Spider-Man is a Twisted Horror Movie – Screen Rant

J.J. Abrams' 80s influences provide the unique addition of body horror to the Spider-Man universe in the miniseries he's penning with his son Henry

WARNING! Spoilers forSpider-Man: Bloodline #4

There's some nostalgia to be found in the newest Spider-Man: Bloodlines comic. Fans of high-concept film and television know that the unique mix ofthrowback sci-fi/horror that J.J. Abrams often brings to his creations is what makes his work immediately identifiable. Many of his works lean into that unnamable sense of 80s nostalgia that has permeated pop culture of late, while simultaneously pulling from elements of classic science fiction. Its no surprise, then, that the villain of the new Spider-Man: Bloodline series, written by Abrams and his son, Henry, feels like its been yanked straight from some forgotten notebook in David Cronenbergs desk drawer.

The story follows Ben Parker, the teenaged son of M.J. and Peter Parker, who has taken up his fathers web-slinging mantle. While Peter is not wild about his kid fighting crime, they dont particularly have a chance to hash it out before theyre interrupted by the cyborg villain Cadaverous. Now, with Peter kidnapped, Ben and his friend Faye Ito seek out help from a grown Riri Williams and a retired Tony Stark to rescue his father. Of course, theres a few roadblocks - including cyborg-zombie Avengers and Cadaverous former partner Minka Tross.

Related:Marvel's Spider-Heroes Finally Form a Team of Their Own

In Abrams'Spider-Man: Bloodline #4, Cadaverous resurrects Minka Tross using Peter Parkers irradiated blood. Minka is less than pleased. She grows increasingly horrified as her body mutates in response to Peters spider-blood, becoming less and less human as Ben and company get closer. I can feel myself shifting, she tells Cadaverous. Bones stretching...cracking. Tross transformation is reminiscent of the body horror genre that had its pop culture heyday during the 1980s. Her description and the stages of her turning into the spider are not exactly Jeff Goldblum pulling his teeth out in a bathroom mirror, but the vibe is definitely there.

Teen Titans: The 10 Best Honorary Titans | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

The animated series Teen Titans is one of the most influential DC adaptations. The cast made a lot of allies throughout, and here are the best ones.

The original animated version ofTeen Titans is often cited as one of the most influential DC adaptations of its day. Several aspects (and characters) unique to the series made their way to official comic book pages, and the show itself remains an acclaimed and celebrated piece of children's animated programming.

RELATED: Teen Titans: The 5 Most Important Members Ever (& The 5 Least Important)

Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, & Beast Boy composed the main group of Titans, with their ranks expanding throughout the series. They made so many allies throughout the show they were able to make other Titans teams, such as Titans East (and Titans North & South in the tie-in comics). Out of all the added Titans, these heroes, in particular, stand out the most.

Thunder and Lightning were the first Honorary Titans to appear onscreen, debuting in the fourth episode of season one: "Forces of Nature." The two are brothers with unknown origins but seem to be supernatural spirits of Earth. They are initially unfamiliar with societal standards and use their powers to destroy various parts of Jump City. For their entertainment, of course.

Lightning is more trigger happy than Thunder, with the latter being more open to listening to others and recognizing the wrongs they've caused. Both were manipulated by Slade to combine their powers, creating a monster of fire. Upon the two of them realizing the harm they'd done, they combined their powers once more, this time bringing about a rainstorm that extinguished the monster. They also helped The Titans fight the Brotherhood of Evil, but both were captured.

Aqualad is the second Honorary Titan introduced in the series, saving The Titans from a watery grave in the episode "Deep Six." Helping The Titans takedown the villain Trident, Aqualad later appeared as a particiapant in The Master of Games' battle royale. Afterward, he assisted in tracking and taking down Brother Blood. In the process, he also helped form and joined the Titans East with Bumblebee, Speedy, and Ms y Menos.

He was among the victims of The Brotherhood of Evil, getting captured and flash-frozen after The Titans were ambushed. When he was freed, he helped clean up most of The Brotherhood's army, literally washing them away.

Pantha is introduced late in the series' final arc, where Cyborg attempts to warn and inform her about The Brotherhood of Evil. She's a pro-wrestler, possessing super-strength, durability, and endurance. Her combat prowess was so great; she was able to overwhelm several of the strongest fighters in the series, including Cyborg, Atlas, Adonis, and Cinderblock.

After The Brotherhood was defeated, she went on to help form Titans South.

Like Aqualad, Hot Spot was a participant in The Master of Games' tournament. Upon the tournament's conclusion, Robin made everyone present (aside from Aqualad [as he was already an Honorary Titan] and Gizmo) Honorary Titans. Hotspot later became one of the first targets of The Brotherhood of Evil, who wanted to use his communicator to track The Titans across the globe.

After a long-fought battle against Madame Rouge, where she deceived both Hotspot and Robin by shapeshifting into them, Hot Spot was captured and flash-frozen. After he was freed, he fought within The Brotherhood of Evil's base, enacting his revenge on Rouge with Wildebeest and Jinx.

As one of the last people to receive a Titans Communicator in the series, Jericho's screentime is limited but memorable all the same. He tends to avoid conflict if possible, secluding himself to a high mountain meadow (much to an exhausted Beast Boy's chagrin). Still, he was more than capable of fending for himself, being one of the few Titans to defeat his attackers when The Brotherhood of Evil executed a global strike.

Jericho can possess others, which grants him access to all their powers, knowledge, and memories. This power was vital to securing an entrance to The Brotherhood of Evil's hideout and allowed Jericho to cause its members to essentially fight themselves. In the tie-in comics, Jericho also helps to stabilize Raven's powers, helping to put her Emoticlones - the different aspects of her personality - back together. Hisconnection to Slade is unfortunately not explored.

Though he only had a significant role in one episode, Red Star certainly impacted both The Titans and audiences. A former soldier, Red Star gained near invulnerability, super strength, and the ability to project radioactive blasts from a government experiment. The experiment also left his powers unstable, which caused him to go into a self-imposed exile.

The Titans meet him in Siberia after he rescued Starfire from a blizzard, who'd been tracking a radioactive monster (that Red Star had inadvertently created). Following some encouragement from the Tamaranean Princess, Red Star decided to fight once more, even at the cost of his powers turning irreversibly unstable. Though he disappeared after a radioactive explosion, it was implied the explosion allowed him to exert full control over his abilities. He later reappeared to fight The Brotherhood of Evil and joined Titans North.

As with Jericho, Herald is one of the final Titans to receive a communicator. He resides in an alternate dimension, accompanied only by his horn, which grants him interdimensional travel. Though villains Warp and See-More attack him during The Brotherhood of Evil's world-wide (and cross-dimensional) ambush, he manages to defeat them both.

He later joins up with Beast Boy, Pantha, Jericho, andMs to assault The Brotherhood of Evil's base in Paris, further participating in the fight when other Titans reinforcements arrive. His assistance saves the day, transporting a primed fusion device into space to keep The Titans alive.

Introduced during the final stretch of the series' run, Kid Flash claims to be "one of the best" superheroes around. After the Titans East had been called back away from Jump City, Kid Flash filled in for them. He caused particular problems for a group of villains called H.I.V.E. Five (technically six), led by the supervillain Jinx. The speedster took an immediate liking to her, opting to talk with her instead of immediately arresting her.

RELATED: Teen Titans: Which Animated Series Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

He helped her realize her true potential for good and picked her up on his way to fight The Brotherhood of Evil. His brother-like relationship with Robin is explored and deepened in several tie-in comics. He also officially starts to date Jinx, despite his constant flirting with others.

Originally appearing in the series as a villain, Jinx turned over a new leaf in the final season of the show - with some help from Kid Flash. She'd believed herself incapable of being good because of her powers, which manipulated probability. After attempting to get the attention of The Brotherhood of Evil - Madame Rouge in particular - Jinx became disillusioned with villainy.

She then left her team and seemed to go into hiding with Kid Flash. They both assisted the rest of The Titans in the final fight against The Brotherhood, where Jinx took out her entire (former) team, Mother-Mae Eye, and Rouge herself. Jinx additionally made various appearances in the tie-in comics, where she continued to prove her worth as Titans material.

Bumblebee was first seen alongside Jinx in H.I.V.E Academy, a school for supervillains. It was later revealed that she'd been working with Aqualad to obtain information on the H.I.V.E.'s leader, Brother Blood. She later joined The Titans in taking down Blood's aquatic base. Afterward, she became a member of Titans East and was usually the only person to take their duty seriously.

When Cyborg rejoins the original group of Titans, Bumblebee effectively became Titans East's leader. Her powers, demeanor, and leadership skills cement her as one of The Titans' most reliable allies. She escaped capture at the hands of The Brotherhood of Evil and later traveled with Red Star and Starfire to the final big battle of the series.

Hot Flash Heat Wave Offer Glimpse of New Direction – SF Weekly

By most definitions, a grudge requires two people: someone to hold it, and someone against whom it may be held. But if you ask Adam Abildgaard, singer and guitarist for San Francisco-born indie band Hot Flash Heat Wave, there is another, much more common kind of grudge:

I kind of think of it as, when youre down on yourself, its almost like youre holding a grudge against yourself, he says. We create these conversations in our heads where were our own biggest hater.

Its all in my head, he croons on the chorus of Grudge, the bands new single, which was released via Bandcamp last month. The song hints at another new direction for the constantly evolving group a style not quite like the garage rock of the HFHWs early material, and not quite like the cabana appropriate pop of last years Mood Ring. Abildgaard is calling this new style futuristic retro robotic rock.

Mood Ring went in a looser, R&B-psychedelic direction, he says. We have some elements of that in the new music weve been working on, but with all the bedroom pop music out there, I wanted to hear some more rock music mixed in with everything.

Where Mood Ring was floaty and weightless, on Grudge the band is very much embodied, snapping to the beat with rediscovered physicality. Unlike the loose rollicking of Neapolitan, the bands surfy first album, Grudge has a shiny, almost mechanical quality to it. With a rhythmic verse and a chorus that sounds like Abildgaard singing over a roomful of computers crunching numbers, the song often resembles a 1990s vision of music in the year 2020: androgynous cyborg rock built on warez and Encarta CD-ROMs.

Thats kind the point of our new music, the kind of retro future, Y2K club kid, tactical hardware energy, says bass player and singer Ted Davis.

It all makes for an interesting counterpoint to what is, at heart, a tender (and catchy) song about learning to forgive yourself.

I got into songwriting to work through things, Abildgaard says. Its really healing to write about some of the lower times in my life.

Justice League: Gods & Monsters – 10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Alternate World – Screen Rant

Justice League: Gods and Monsters showed fans what life is like in yet another alternate DC universe. This is what you might not know about it!

2015 saw the release of Justice League: Gods and Monsters. The story is set in a bizarro alternate universewhere the Justice League is hated and feared by the public. The League is comprised of alternate versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, but with a decidedly darker twist.

RELATED: Superman The Animated Series - 10 Things Fans Never Knew About The Cartoon

In this reality, theheroes have no qualms about using lethal force to pacify their enemies. Superman melts people, Batman bites throats, and Wonder Woman impales people. While the film is far removed from the traditional superhero pallet, it still offerseaster eggs and nods to its source material hidden throughout its narrative landscape.

We first see the Justice League confronting a terrorist organization. After a violent brawl with several armed guards, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are confronted with a triad of villains.

While they may look a bit different, they are common villains in the DC universe. Superman faces off against Livewire who, instead of being made of electricity, uses an electric cannon. Batman fights a cro-magnon looking Solomon Grundy with a tan instead of one who looks like an undead Hulk. Wonder Woman is pitted against Bronze Tiger wearing a cheetah-print hoodie with claws.

The inciting incident that shoves the film forward depicts threeleading scientists being killed by powerful robots. One is a man by the name of Silas Stone.

Silas is working on several proprietary weapons reminiscent of the gear utilized by the superhero Cyborg. This is no coincidence, as the audience is soon introduced to a young Victor Stone. Both are attacked by a robot sporting Superman's abilities. Silas and Victor use their weapons to fend off the machine but are eventually killed. There isno Cyborg in this reality.

There's a scene where a group of scientists is meeting to discuss the murders of some of their colleagues. One of the scientists who speaks out during this summit is none other than John Henry Adams.

In DC mythology, John Henry Adams is a brilliant engineer who develops a suit of armor that can replicate Superman's abilities. Emblazoned with Superman's sigil, John Henry Adams isSteel. Alas, there isno super suit and no future for one. John Henry Adams meetshis demise in the moments to come, along with the rest of his compatriots.

Fans will recall one of the scientists in the film being referred to as Sivana. This is the same Dr. Sivana who hastried todefeat Captain Marvel since his debut in 1940. He is known for his brilliant intellect and his use of mechanics to carry out his villainy.

RELATED: Batman The Animated Series - 5 Reasons We Need A New Series (& 5 Reasons It Should Be Left In The Past)

Most recently, Sivana was portrayed byMark Strong in the live-action film Shazam, where he sported abilities similar to Captain Marvel's. Unfortunately, there would be no gadgets or powers here to spare him from his fate. He isamong the many scientistswho are eventually ended by Will Magnus' robots.

Much of the tension in the film centers around how the world views the Justice League. No small amount of angst comes from the federal level, so much so they've created weaponsintended to effectively neutralize the Justice League. Typically, Lex Luthor becomes President of the United States in DC lore.

In this universe, Amanda Waller takes the seat as POTUS. Thisexplains why she's at least willing to work with the metahumans. After all, she was theone who spearheaded the creation of Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad.

Trevor Jones acts as the handler for the Justice League on behalf of President Waller. In many ways, he's very similar to the same character in the DC universe's common mythology.

The film version, however, shows him at odds with the superheroes, not agreeing withtheir brutality and unchecked power. There is also a romantic historyexisting between Jones and Wonder Woman in the source material. A pastrelationship is hinted at in Gods and Monsters, but it is unclear how deep it went or why it ended.

Bruce Wayne is nowhere to be seen. The Batman of this universe is instead Kirk Langstrom. DC fans will recognize that name instantly as belonging to the zoologist who would eventually become the Man-Bat.

In common DC lore, Langstrom develops what he believes is a way for humans to receive the sonar abilities of bats. Langstrom injects himself withthe serum but is turned into a giant bat-creature who terrorizes Gotham. The Batman of Gods and Monsters is a hybrid of Batman and Man-Bat who resembles something closer to a modern vampire.

Batman has an iconic look. His dark and almost ghoulishappearance would be altered in 1999 with the release of Batman Beyond. The ears would be longer, the cape would vanish, and the hero would sport a more sleek and tactical wardrobe.

RELATED: Batman: The Animated Series -10 Best Connections to Batman Beyond

A side-by-side comparison shows that both Batman from Gods and Monsters and Batman Beyond have very similar designs. This is no surprise considering the co-creator of Batman Beyond, Alan Burnett, returned to help pen the story alongside Bruce Timm, creator of the Batman: The Animated Series.

Alan Burnett was also a writer on the Super Friends show that depicted the great DC heroes banding together to help train the next generation of heroes inthe Hall of Justice.

This would serve as the Super Friends' base of operations in the heart of Gotham City. The Justice League of Gods and Monstershave a much more impressive structureas their headquarters, the Tower of Justice, located in Metropolis. Though the appearance is very different, the name and the links to the original tv heroes are undeniable.

Gods and Monsters has several exposition scenes that show how each hero came to be. Wonder Woman began her life as Bekka, granddaughter of the Highfather. The New Gods of New Genesis brokered a peace treaty withApokolips, offering Bekka's hand in marriage to Darkseid's son, Orion.

The honeymoonwas cut short by a Red Wedding-derived massacre conducted by the Highfather, ending in the deaths of Darkseid and Orion. Within the source material, Orion is an ally of Bekka's and the Highfather's, where they fight against the oppression of Darkseid.

Ray Fisher Reportedly Furious At WBs Low Offer To Return As Cyborg In The Flash – We Got This Covered

With his entire filmography since Justice League wrapped consisting of eight episodes of True Detective and nothing else, you might think that Ray Fisher would jump at the opportunity to play Cyborg in The Flash in an attempt to reignite his career. However, despite the actor still being in talks over a return as Victor Stone, his involvement has become overshadowed by a very public battle against his paymasters.

The back and forth between star and studio has been getting increasingly messy in recent weeks, and the public have very much sided with the 32 year-old in his repeated attempts to have Warner Bros. accept responsibility and show accountability for the way he and his Justice League co-stars were treated during reshoots by Joss Whedon, claims that have since been backed up by Jason Momoa.

Of course, WB denied his misconduct allegations after launching their own investigation before saying that Fisher failed to cooperate, something hes strongly denied. He even went as far to reveal his belief that Ben Afflecks return for The Flash being announced on the very same day he fired back against the studio was far from a coincidence.

During The Flashs six years stuck in development hell, Cyborg has always been part of the story, and Fisher remains in negotiations despite the storm of controversy continuing to swirl around his last appearance in the DCEU. However, a new report claims that hes not happy about the financial terms being offered, not to mention a drastic reduction in screentime that would amount to little more than a cameo.

While the story has yet to be officially verified, it isnt outside the realm of possibility that Warner Bros. are deliberately low balling Fisher in the hopes that hell turn them down and thus wont be brought back for The Flash. Regardless, based on recent developments, the actor looks set to keep sticking to his guns and fighting the good fight for while yet.

‘I choose to be a cyborg’: Why I implanted computer chips in my hands – The Conversation CA

I have computer chips in my hands.

The tiny (two millimetre by 12 millimetre) glass ampules are nestled just under the skin on the back of each of my hands and were implanted by a local body piercer several years ago.

The chip in my right hand is a near-field communication device that I scan with an app on my smart phone to access and rewrite the information I have stored on it. It can contain a minuscule 888 kilobytes of data storage and only communicates with devices less than four centimetres away. In my left hand is a chip designed as a digital verification device that uses a proprietary app from the developer Vivokey.

The implant procedure is neither difficult nor extremely painful. I can feel the bump of the chips under my skin and often invite others to feel it. The bump does not protrude from the back of my hand if I didnt tell someone it was there, they would not be able to tell by sight that I had an implant. But they are not undetectable.

An implanted chip can be a secure storage location for emergency contact information, used as an electronic business card, or as an electronic key to unlock your door. I give public presentations and interviews about my research and, as a result, do not store private data on my chip.

There are thousands of people all over the world with chip implants; people I call voluntary cyborgs.

Voluntary cyborgs are people involved in the community and practice of implanting technology beneath their skin for enhancement or augmentation purposes and Ive counted myself as a member of this subculture for several years. My research in the community has focused on the formation of a distinct subculture and its representations in popular media.

I coined the term voluntary cyborgs to make a distinction from medical cyborgs, who have had technology like pacemakers, insulin pumps, IUDs and more implanted by medical professionals for rehabilitative or therapeutic purposes. I intentionally emphasize the voluntary aspect of the implant practice to stave off inferences of coerced microchipping theories popular with a vocal groups of implant critics and detractors.

Conspiracy theories about microchips in humans have been around for years; some of these theories originate from an interpretation of a Bible passage.

Clickbait headlines and social media hashtags have been making the rounds with increasing frequency in the last few months, describing the fears and conspiracy theories about the involuntary microchipping of people. The latest incarnation of these doomsday prophecies suggests that tech billionaire Bill Gates will employ microchips to fight COVID-19.

The article was inspired by a Reddit Ask me Anything thread with Gates on March 18 that focused on a single phrase: digital certificates. Conspiracy theorists started to make sensational predictions about microchips as a feasible solution to identification verification issues and authenticating vaccination status.

The proliferation of online media articles and posts debunking the claim that Gates plans to surreptitiously implant microchip tracking devices into people as part of a COVID-19 vaccine reinforced the conspiracy theorists.

These recent conspiracy theories of enforced and involuntary chip implants led me to consider why some people are worried about having computer chips embedded in their bodies against their will.

The answer lies in perceived body autonomy.

Research in 2017 showed a quarter of the American population believed in conspiracy theories and are these beliefs are driven by feelings of anxiety, alienation and disenfranchisement.

The right to govern ones body and what is done to it by others, is not a privilege held by everyone. This realization can come as a surprise to those who want to modify their bodies with technological implants for convenience, fun or experimentation.

Members of historically marginalized groups women, racialized people, queer people, disabled people and children are not shocked at this lack of body autonomy. The state, organizations and medical communities have restricted, regulated and governed their bodies for hundreds of years.

One goal of my work is to highlight the struggle for body autonomy through the experience of the cyborg. The right to morphological freedom to modify ones body as one desires is one aspect of body autonomy that cyborgs routinely face.

If cyborgs can win the right to alter their bodies by redefining the boundaries of acceptable body modification, then these rights can extend to other groups fighting for bodily integrity and autonomy. Collaboration with scholars and advocates in disability studies, queer and feminist studies, medical and legal scholars as well as human rights activists is an approach to take.

Recent news of involuntary and forced sterilizations happening in detention camps run by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is horrific and illustrates just one of the abuses of body autonomy that a government can inflict on people citizens or otherwise.

Implanted chips are not useful for covert surveillance or monitoring. Current available microchip technology is not capable of tracking peoples locations. There are no batteries or GPS transmitters both powerful and small enough to be safely and unobtrusively embedded in our bodies without our knowledge.

There is no need for governments or other shadowy organizations popular with conspiracy theorists to embed tracking devices inside human bodies as our smartphones already perform this function. Most smartphone users signed away any expectation to privacy with various apps and location services long ago.

People say they can always leave their phones at home, but do they really? It feels as though youre missing a part of yourself when you dont know where your phone is. The feeling in the pit of your stomach, you pat your pockets, reaffirming your loss through contact with your body. It is already a part of body construct.

I do not worry that I will be implanted with a chip without my knowledge but I am very concerned that people may one day be implanted without their consent.

I worry chips may be used for overt, unethical suppression of movement by governments. It is why the right to body autonomy must be a legally declared, international human right upheld by courts and governments around the world.

Workers Fear Cyborgs Will Steal Their Jobs By 2035 – CBS Sacramento

(CNN) Workers worry that in the not-too-distant future they will be sidelined by humans implanted with performance-enhancing microchips.

Two-thirds of employees believe that in 2035, humans with chips implanted in their bodies will have an unfair advantage in the labor market, according to a Citrix survey of employees in the United States and Europe that was shared exclusively with CNN Business.

Althoughcyborgsmay sound like the stuff of science fiction, theycould be here before long.

Thousands of people in Sweden haveinserted microchips in their handsthat could one day replace keys and cards.Elon Musk recently showed off a working brain implant in pigsmade by Neuralink, his brain-computer interface company.

And Synchron, a San Francisco startupfunded in part by the US Defense Department, isalready testing an implantable wireless devicethat can stimulate the nervous system from the inside of a blood vessel. It has been implanted in patients with upper-limb paralysis.

There is a sharp divide between employees and C-Suite executives over the pros and cons of implanted chips. And that gap echoes a broader difference of opinion between workers and leaders over artificial intelligence and the future of technology and the role of workers at the nexus of the two.

Leaders are consistently more positive about the benefits that technology and AI will bring, while workers are more skeptical and concerned about their own role in the changing world of work, according to Citrix Work 2035, a research study done by the software company whoseWorkspace service helps employees to work from anywhere.

Seventy-seven percent of business leaders believe that under-the-skin chips and sensors will boost worker performance and productivity by 2035. By comparison, just 43% of workers share that positive view on chips.

I look at it much less as a Hollywood-version of cyborgs, Citrix CEO David Henshall told CNN Business. I see it more concentrated in wearables. You can imagine someone at a job site with augmented reality who can overlay a schematic diagram.

Although employees seem more fearful of implanted devices, they may also be more likely to embrace them perhaps if only in an effort to protect their livelihoods.

Fifty-seven percent of workers would be willing to have chips implanted in their own bodies if they felt it was safe and would boost their performance, the Citrix survey found. By contrast, only 31% of business leaders were open to implants themselves.

Broadly, CEOs and employees agree that technology, especially artificial intelligence, will play a critical role in the future.

In fact, 72% of professionals (workers and business leaders combined) polled by Citrix believe that by 2030 AI will replace humans as their organizations top revenue generator.

And by 2035, AI technology investment will be the biggest driver of growth for their organization, according to 90% of business leaders.

But what do these trends portend for humans?

We are already in the midst of the greatest winner-take-all economy in the history of the world. AI will drive those inequities up, not down, former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang told CNN Business.

Yang, whose signature issue is a $1,000-a-month universal basic income for all adults, said that if CEOs see more value coming from AI, they will devote fewer resources to humans.

Workers are getting replaced and automated in everything from meatpacking factories to accounting firms. Over time, you will have fewer workers, said Yang, who is a CNN political commentator. We need to be more clear-eyed and realistic about what this means for our society,

Workers share those concerns.

Sixty percent of employees surveyed by Citrix think that by 2035, permanent employees will be a rarity.

The good news is that C-Suite executives, presumably the ones making the decisions, are much more bullish on the role of humans in the future. Most leaders (81%) think permanent employees will still have a place by 2035.

Moreover, 70% of business leaders polled by Citrix said the pandemic made them believe human workers are more important to their business relative to technology.

And its easy to see how technology will continue to make employees better at their jobs, just as PCs, smartphones and the internet have.

By 2035, technology such as AI personal assistants and augmented reality glasses will make workers at least twice as productive, according to 51% of professionals in the Citrix survey.

Robots are not going to replace humans, Henshall, the Citrix CEO, said. Technology will make people better and smarter. Its an enabler, not a replacer.

Yet it seems likely that technology, especially AI, will shift the role that humans play in companies in the future.

Eighty-three percent of professionals say that by 2035, technology will automate low-value tasks. In theory, that would free up workers to focus on more meaningful work.

Technology over the last 100 years has done nothing but help people become more productive and efficient, said Henshall. The types of tasks will have to evolve over time.

But there is no guarantee that the humans being freed from mundane tasks will be the sameones hired for the more exciting work. Countless workers, especially those without the right skills training, could be left behind in the disruption.

The workers that will suffer the most will be the majority whose work can be automated away, said Yang. There will be a handful of executives and investors who end up profiting at unprecedented levels.

Yang pointed out that Google recently launched an AI call center that will enable companies topush some of their customer service callsto Google instead of their own workers. He noted more than2 million Americans work in call centers and predicted that most companies will not shift those workers to other positions.

Thats not how organizations function, said Yang, whose devoted following during the presidential campaign was known as the Yang Gang. They will say, You are no longer needed, thank you for your service. Heres a weeks severance.'

Management may not be immune to the coming wave of disruption, either.

The Citrix survey found that most professionals believe that in the future, organizations will have a central AI department that oversees all areas of business. Even CEOs will work in a human-machine tandem with an office of chief artificial intelligence.

Not just that, but more than half (57%) of all professionals believe that by 2035, there will be no traditional leadership team at all just AI making most business decisions.

Perhaps that will boost the CEO ranks in the Yang Gang.

Your thoughts can be displayed on this cyborg garment – ZDNet

Sarah Breinbauer

A new project that forms a data visualization of brain signals in clothing has recently been showcased at thevirtual Ars Electronica festival.

The robotic dress is coupled to 1,024 channels of a BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) and has 64 outputs for light and movement. The Pangolin Scales' dress components function like animatronic elements that move and light up based on the recordings of the brain waves.

The project originated at the Institute for integrated circuits at JKU (Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria), in collaboration with the Austrian Neurotechnology company G.tec.

Christoph Guger at the Neuroscience/Neurotechnology department at G.tec explained how these BCI's measure brain activity, using sensors placed on the head, which control devices in real-time depending on your thoughts;

"If someone imagines a hand movement, then that movement can be understood using sensors on the upper region of the brain. The technology then produces a control signal that allows you for example to control a prosthetic arm or to control any (human-like) avatar.

By using your thoughts you can move the avatar forward (left right - forward etc.) or use your prosthetic arm after you made the mental decision that you wanted to pick up a cup of coffee."

G.tec's neurotechnology developers designed the hardware components and assemble the electrodes directly on to the head. The shape and size of the components mean that 1,024 channels can be placed on to the head to give far greater resolution than previous versions.

Guger continues:

"In hospitals or research centers, people can wear 64 of these channels so the distance between the sensors is pretty big. This allows us to figure out if the person is lifting their left or right arm, but that's it.

With 1024 channels we can discriminate single fingers from each other. So the technology can recognize if the person moves their pinkie finger or the index finger. This is something you cannot do with a standard EEG system which is nowadays used in research and in hospitals."

The dress was designed by Dutch designer and innovatorAnouk Wipprecht, who works in the emerging field of FashionTech. This combines fashion design with engineering, robotics, science, and interaction/user experience design to make fashion an experience that transcends appearances.

The dress that has 64 actuators (scales) that move and light up. The BCI output can modulate the movement and the rotation of the scales and how they light and interact. So whatever is calibrated into the brain-computer interface can be recognized afterward.

So, in understanding how the EEG of every single action works, the BCI can be calibrated to produce real-time activity of what the brain is doing and control the actions in the dress.

There are 64 PCBs on the head each with 16 sensors (to reach 1,024 channels). These 64 outputs translate the received signals from the brain and visualize this data through light and movement provided by 32 LEDs and 32 small servo motors, making 64 actuators within the dress.

This results in a dress with a mechanism that functions like animatronic elements, based on pangolin scales, which move and light up based on the recordings of the brain waves.

Thomas Faseth of JKU (Johannes Kepler University Linz), where the project originated, said:

"Future applications of the project allow full wireless operation made possible by know-how of the Institute for Integrated Circuits at JKU Linz."

Guger added:

"The brain decodes information in very specific places. Faces, color, shapes, are decoded in certain areas, and art is activating a lot of them.

BCI technology allows us to explore unconsciousness things of the brain in real-time and this leads to astonishing results. Fascinating about the brain is that so many regions are unexplored and with newest high-resolution technology we can find new interesting functions."

This is only a prototype of course, but this technology has many more functions as the relationship between the body and technology grows closer than ever.

Designers, artists, scientists, and engineers started to combine their practices at the beginning of this century, and electronics are being tightly woven into the fabric of our physical world.

As Wipprecht said:

"Electronic systems can now be layered seamlessly onto a material or substrate such as plastic or polyester. Embedded processors and sensors for transmitting and receiving information create a vision of cultural transformation that is both exciting and disturbing."

Mind over Matter: The man who turned himself into a cyborg to overcome ALS – CTech

One evening four years ago Dr. Peter Scott Morgan got out of his bathtub and pulled out a towel. While drying his foot, he noticed he was having difficulty moving it. The scary and worrying notion sent him straight to the doctors. After a year of tests, the diagnosis arrived and it was a horrible one: Scott Morgan has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, a cruel and incurable ailment in which people affected suffer from the gradual decline of muscle control and which slowly paralyzes them, organ by organ, apart from the brain, which continues to function normally trapped in the body until death. The doctors determined he had two years left to live.

A reasonable person might have accepted the terrible outcome as fate, but not Peter Scott-Morgan a genius mathematician and a world-class expert on robotics and advanced systems analysis, who taught at some of the leading universities in the world and consulted government and major corporations. As an expert in robotics, Scott-Morgan decided to cope with the new circumstances forced upon him and keep himself alive, by turning himself into a robot. Actually the more accurate term would be a cyborg half man, half machine. Or as he put it in an interview with the Daily Telegraph: I intend to become a human guinea pig to see just how far we can turn science fiction into a reality.

Based on cold scientific observation, Scott-Morgan realizes that his living organs are slowly losing any ability to benefit him, and he is producing substitutes for them. In a series of complex surgeries, combining technology from the fields of medicine and computing, he is gradually replacing his dying organs with artificial ones. Peter1.0 the fully human version of Scott-Morgan began the process of extraction from his bodily limitations in 2018, two months after the initial diagnosis. He underwent a complicated procedure, in which he inserted three tubes into his body: one that transfers food into his stomach and two to drain urine and feces out of it. It was a procedure rarely attempted in medical history and required special permits from the U.K. health authorities.

Scott-Morgans saga calls to mind that of the worlds most famous ALS victim, astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who like Scott-Morgan was a scientist and a Brit. Hawking used his status in the scientific community to raise awareness of the disease and promote technological solutions to improve the lives of those who suffer from it, allowing them greater levels of independence. Scott-Morgan cites him as an inspiration, drawing strength and motivation from his famous quote concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with.

Hawking managed to survive for 50 years with ALS. Scott-Morgan has already lived 50% longer than doctors predicted.

While recovering from the remarkable surgery, Scott-Morgan put his mind to the more technical aspects of his journey. A special Scottish sound laboratory teamed up with him to ensure he could continue to use his own voice even after he loses his ability to speak. For several weeks, he visited their recording studio and read out full texts and individual words, varying his intonations. The goal was to produce a broad databank of voice recordings, with multiple inflections to reflect as best as possible the various tones of voice he uses and synthesize them into an artificial voice that is as close as possible to the source and not as robotic-sounding as Hawkings famously was.

As he gradually lost all ability to move his lower body, Scott-Morgan was provided with a special motorized wheelchair, that enabled him to stand up and turn around. The chair is the foundation of some of the unique features of Scott-Morgans self-designed exoskeleton: a mechanical, computer-guided device that will be installed on his arms, decipher electrical pulses sent from the brain and translate them into near-full motion of his upper limbs. Combined with the chairs ability to move freely and shift from sitting to standing positions, the full system was supposed to provide him with near-complete mobility. Unfortunately, Scott-Morgans health took a turn for the worse faster than expected and the exoskeleton was scrapped before it could be completed.

The most complicated and daring stage in the entire process was Scott-Morgans attempt to find a solution for brain atrophy and developing the ability to transfer the most important organ of all into the amassing cyborg. It required a powerful computation network that could enable him to relay his thoughts and express them freely even in the final stages of the disease, when he is completely trapped in his paralysed body.

It was Intels Assistive Context-Aware Toolkit (ACAT) that was selected to carry out the complex task. It is the same system that Hawking had attached to his wheelchair and controlled via a proximity sensor in his glasses. One of the last muscles Hawking could still move was in his cheek. The sensor would detect its movement and allowed him to browse the internet, write books and journal articles, teach students, play chess and, of course, produce his distinctive metallic voice.

He wanted complete control over every little detail, every word and every letter, Lama Nachman, the director of Intels Anticipatory Computing Lab, who designed Hawkings system and worked closely with him during his final years, said in an interview to Calcalist. It is something that the technology at the time, and even today, doesnt allow for and we had many discussions surrounding his frustration about it.

Nachman is also the person who designed the system that Scot-Morgan uses. In recent years the field of machine learning, considered the forefront of artificial intelligence, experienced major progress. It has allowed Lachman and the team of engineers at Intel to make improvements on ACAT and bring Scott-Morgan closer to his cyborg vision, in which man and machine function as one, without the machine hampering his humanity and without the human holding back the machine.

The system enables people who suffer from ALS to conduct a conversation with the help of an eye-operated virtual mouse, with the eye motions replacing the paralysed hand. A sensor connected to a computer links the pupils motion to an icon on the screen, allowing the user to select words. An AI based system offers the user automatic word completion, similar to the autocomplete function that exists in smartphones. The result may not be completely accurate, but it enables them to conduct an almost normal conversation.

If Peter wants to write a book, hell have all the time in the world to write each word by himself and be in complete control, said Nachman. But when you hold a conversation, the social connection and the ability to spontaneously engage are far more important. That is an ability people with ALS lack. The system may be less precise in reflecting Peters meaning, but it allows him to hold a conversation like anybody else.

When you limit a persons vocabulary, you warp their will

The moment speed requires you to choose from several existing options, the system will gradually warp in directions you dont want it to. Thats why we are now working on an interface that will allow Peter to rank his choices. If, because of speed considerations, he choses a less than optimal word, he will be able to immediately mark it. That note will be recorded and after the conversation is over, he will be able to do some damage control and provide feedback on the way the system conducted the interaction, thereby offering it an opportunity to learn him better for next time. He can also write I wouldn't answer in that way and offer an alternative. With time the system will get to know him and his preferences better and better reflect his personality.

Will the day ever arrive when the system can completely reflect the person who operates it?

It depends how open you are to probing. Our system is based on going into the skull and monitoring brain activity. But there is a lot of innovation in the field of brain imaging, like encoding the electric activity in the brain using a fMRI device to decipher what the user is really thinking at any given moment: they are shown a picture of a cat, for example, and map the part of the brain that lights up. Then theyre shown a picture of a goat and map that reaction. In this way artificial intelligence will one day be able to be combined with imaging systems. There is a lot of work being done, but we are still far from mind-reading, said Nachman.

Most of the developments in the field are based on the P300 transfer learning algorithm, which is already helping ALS patients in worse condition than Scott-Morgan, who cant even move their pupils. A monitor placed in front of their eyes presents a chart of letters that flash, one line or column at a time. When the letter that the user choses flashes, their brain reacts within a 300th of a second (thus the name). The algorithm detects the data using an EEG electrode attached to the users head and translates the signal to the stroke of a keyboard. In this way, even someone whos lost all mobility can still communicate with the outside world.

Over the years this technology developed into the recording of Motor Imagination-- tracing the brains activity when the user imagines moving a limb or a muscle, like their tongue, for example-- and Mental Imaging, tracing their brain activity when thinking about pronouncing a certain syllable. Thats the closest weve gotten to mindreading, but the technology is still far from enabling people who suffer from ALS to move their limbs or utter sounds freely. Brain researchers and computer scientists around the world are hard at work developing these capabilities into applicable technology. One of the teams that is working on it is active here in Israel, led by Dr. Oren Shriki who heads the Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in collaboration with scientists from most of Israels universities.

How do you decipher feelings from two simple parameters?

Innovation is a way of life for Peter Scott-Morgan. His PhD from the Royal Imperial College was the first ever granted in Britain for the field of robotics. In 1984, when he was only 26, he published his first book The Robotics Revolution which was one of the leading English language books in the field. He came out as gay when he was a teenager in the conservative U.K. of the seventies, and is currently in a relationship with Francis, his partner of 40 years. The two were married in 2005, on the first day that the law permitted same-sex marriage. Today they manage a public fund promoting technological entrepreneurship to help people overcome a range of disabilities in addition to ALS. Weve always had the mantra of turning liabilities into assets, and motor neurone disease is no exception, he said in an interview to U.K. Channel 4.

Roughly a year ago, Scott-Morgan underwent his last procedure, for now, on his journey to become Peter 2.0 as he calls it. The reason for it was a deterioration in his condition his upper body began atrophying rapidly, robbing him of the little motion he had. In October 2019, the month when doctors had initially predicted his death, he entered the operating room where his windpipe and esophagus were separated and an additional, fourth, tube was inserted into his body, through a hole in his throat that helps him breathe with the aid of a respirator. The procedure forced him into a period of temporary muteness, which ended after several months with the installation of the artificial speech system designed by Nachman.

The main update to the system since Hawkings time is that while the older version could only speak for Hawking, Scott-Morgans system also detects what is being said to him. Using artificial intelligence it can analyze the other persons speech to better fine tune the algorithm and the answers he gives, speeding up the conversation. The next stage in the systems development, which is being worked on at Intels labs now, is expanding its use from individual words to add the wider context of the conversation. In other words, expressing emotion. While Scott-Morgan can speak and express himself relatively freely, his emotional world still has difficulty breaking out of the walls erected by the disease.

As a quick solution, we enabled Peter to tag parts of his texts under specific emotions, map them out and include them in his voice and the expressions of the avatar thats on the monitor connected to his chair, Nachman explained. If you simply want to say Im angry now and use that emotional status for the entirety of the conversation, its relatively easy. The problems arise when you try to provide higher emotional resolution. Its a significant step that were not yet sure about.

How do you even measure emotions?

Frankly, it is pretty easy to measure feelings. Emotions revolve around intensity and positive or negative values. By cross-referencing both, you can well determine the emotion. The signals you usually use are tone, facial expressions, and physiological measurements, such as, heart-rate, ECG, or skin conductivity. The first two signals are irrelevant for ALS patients, but the other indicators are very useful in determining intensity of emotion, while value can be expressed in words. Conducting analysis on the combination of all the signals, provides a result that can let you understand a persons emotional state.

The problem in this case is a philosophical one, not a technological one: we dont always want to express the emotion were actually feeling. "Sometimes, we want to hide our real emotion and replace it with another, Nachman said, for example, feeling anger, but showing only equanimity. If in the future, we will be able to analyze the physiological signals together with the text produced by the AI, we will be prevented from choosing the emotions we want to display. This is a moral problem that we still need to solve.

It has been nearly a year since Scott-Morgans latest dramatic surgery and if his feelings are any indication, it was a success. Statistically I should be dead, and according to the relentlessly depressing story of MND that everyone insists on pedalling, I should at the very least be feeling close to suicidal. But instead, I feel alive, excited, Im really looking forward to the future. Im having fun! He said in the interview to Channel 4, attributing his bearing to his partner, his family, his medical crew, technology and good fortune.

Contrary to the torturous scare stories about how it feels to be trapped in the straightjacket of your own living corpse, the brain moves on. It grieves a bit, and then, if you give it the chance, most of the time it forgets. Days may pass when I never once remember that in the past I could walk, or move, or (absurdly) even that I could talk. My brain has its own new normal, he concluded.

Sleepy Cyborg Galley kicks off semester with virtual exhibit, Quaranzine – The Rice Thresher

By Jacob Duff 9/15/20 10:46pm

In a world becoming increasingly dependent on dual-delivery, one has to ask how visual art, a mode of communication previously relegated mostly to the physical, is adapting to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. An example of this dual-delivery form of visual art can be found at the newly renamed, student-run Sleepy Cyborg Gallery in their first exhibition of the year called quaranzine.

A zine is a self-produced and published publication that pulls from a DIY idea of what it means to make a booklet of images and words, Isabel Samperio, director of Sleepy Cyborg Gallery, said.

Normally, zines are a very physical form of art. Theyre meant to be opened and touched and looked at, interactions that are now impossible given the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Quaranzine is located in the small, white room on the bottom floor of Sewall Hall where past iterations of Sleepy Cyborg Gallery Inferno Gallery and Matchbox have also been housed.

The exhibit consists of approximately 15 student-made booklets displayed on the walls with string and clips. The zines vary from small collections of poems written on copy paper to colorful images of plants and animals on construction paper. One piece is supposed to be a paper fortune teller, the kind one would make in elementary school, covered in intricate black drawings and small, handwritten fortunes. Each piece has a printed QR code taped underneath that, when scanned, shows a video of a hand on the concrete floor of the space flipping through the booklets to reveal all the sides and pages of the students piece.

Samperio explained that she thought the flexibility of being online was actually a benefit for the gallery.

Enjoy what you're reading?Signup for our newsletter

The amount of people that we would be engaged with would be crazy, Samperio said. Theres just so much convenience there and accessibility.

According to Samperio and Gabrielle Feuillet, the exhibit was intended in part as a statement on the current politicization of the United States Postal Service, as all of the art had been sent through the mail. In fact, in the show there was a small pile of envelopes and stamps encouraging those who viewed the show to send a letter themselves. Feuillet said that even though the zines started as a way of connecting with friends that felt much more meaningful than other digital forms of communication.

Quaranzine uses the circumstances of social distancing and virtual interaction as an opportunity to juxtapose physical art forms with our new, highly digitized reality while simultaneously making art more remotely accessible.

You can visit Sleepy Cyborgs new show Quaranzine in person by emailing the director to set up a viewing appointment at sleepycyborggallery@gmail.com, or view their online gallery at matchbox.rice.edu.

Many of these villains will likely be included with their very own, first-ever, big-screen interpretations.

One of Superman's most intelligent foes, the Ultra Humanite would bring some much-needed diversity to the DCEU's roster of villains. Given the fact that Gorilla Grodd has yet to make his debut, the universe has yet to see its first ape villain.

Ultra-Humanite is not one of Superman's most well-known villains -- and that is exactly whatwould make him great for a movie. Although, given hislower status on the totem pole of bad guys, he likely wouldn't be the primary villainin a Superman movie.

A crazy lunatic who makes deadly weapons and robots out of toys, Toyman is certainly one of Supermans more interesting villains. With the lighter tone that DC movies have taken in recent years, a villain like Toyman may just fit right in.

Even if the Toyman was played in a more serious way, it could certainly work. He could perhaps be portrayed as a dangerous, psychotic serial killer with an obsession for childrens toys. Now that would be scary. Sounds more like a Batman villain than a Superman villain, but maybe a change like that is just what the live-action Superman films need at this point.

Mongul and his massive ship Warworld are two of the most deadly forces in the entire DC Universe. Mongul himself is indestructible. In some incarnations, he is even more powerful than Superman himself.

Monguls Warworld, however, is what would truly make a movie with Mongul as the antagonist a truly exciting experience. An entire planet-sized weapon that can destroy entire worlds -- now that sounds like a fantastic Superman-level threat.

The Flash movie could reunite the Justice League with Cyborg actor Ray Fisher in talks to join the cast – GamesRadar+

The Flash movie is already making us want to use the Speed Force and head straight to 2022. Michael Keaton is reportedly in talks to appear as Batman for the first time in three decades, while Ben Afflecks own version of the Caped Crusader is also back for the Scarlet Speedsters standalone DC movie. Now, Cyborg actor Ray Fisher could be joining the cast. Whos down for a mini-Justice League reunion?

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that, alongside Fishers ongoing dispute with Warner Bros. over the production of 2017s Justice League, he is deep in negotiations to reprise his role as Cyborg for a cameo.

Fans of the Flashpoint comic on which the Andy Muschietti-directed Flash film will be loosely based will know that Cyborg helps lead the charge in the Atlantean/Amazonian war involving Wonder Woman and Aquaman in an alternate timeline. In the animated movie adaptation Flashpoint Paradox, the mainline universe Cyborg has a cameo at the beginning, helping Flash and Batman take down Reverse-Flash.

Each could be a prospective role for Fisher, though the latter is perhaps more in line with a possible cameo appearance. It is not yet known what his role will entail, however.

Still, the prospect of a Justice League reunion outside of the Snyder Cut release next year is a tantalising one. No word yet on whether the likes of Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa will similarly reprise their roles.

The Flash which now has a new suit for Barry Allen, courtesy of a DC FanDome reveal is set for release on June 3, 2022.

Ray Fishers Cyborg May Appear in The Flash Despite Warner Bros. Drama – Screen Rant

Ray Fisher is still in talks to reprise his Cyborg for The Flash, even despite his battle with Warner Bros. over Justice League's reshoots.

Ray Fisher's Cyborg could still appear inThe Flash despite his ongoing feud with Warner Bros. Fisher first played Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, in a quick cameo forBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before making his proper debut inJustice League. At the time ofJustice League's release, there were plans for Cyborg to receive his own solo movie in 2020, but it received very little updates in recent years and was unable to make that date. As a result, Fisher's DCEU future currently is uncertain.

Potentially complicating matters is Fisher's battle with Warner Bros., which has escalated considerably in recent days. In early July, Fisher revealed on Twitter that Joss Whedon, the director who took overJustice League's reshoots following Zack Snyder's exit, was "abusive" and "unprofessional" on set. In the weeks following, Fisher continued to promote his desire for accountability in this matter, leading to the beginning of an investigation. This weekend, though, has seen Warner Bros. issue a statement claiming Fisher hasn't cooperated with the investigation, with him then providing evidence that he has.

All of this is taking place when Fisher is reportedly in talks to joinThe Flash.According toTHR writer Borys Kit, Fisher is in deep "talks/negotiations" to bring his Cyborg intoThe Flash, which is further complicating the actor's rapidly devolving battle with Warner Bros. It remains to be seen whether it will prevent Fisher from appearing inThe Flash completely, or if it could even impact chances for the solo Cyborg film.

Fans have liked the idea of seeing Cyborg appear inThe FlashsinceJustice League, which paired Victor and Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) together successfully. In July,Fisher remained coy about the possibility of him joiningThe Flash, though it now appears he was in negotiations even then. However, as the situation between him and Warner Bros. has now grown hostile, it's very unclear about what will happen next. Fisher has spoken openly about the head of DC Films, Walter Hamada, as well as prominent DC contributor Geoff Johns. This is a very thorny situation, and one that might not be resolved easily.

It seems unfair to punish an actor for trying to get accountability, but if Warner Bros. blocks Fisher from starring inThe Flash, that's now how it will come across. Fisher has been as open as he can be about his experiences, leaving Warner Bros. pretty much looking like the bad guy. As it seems right now, Fisher deserves both a fair investigation into his claims and the opportunity to revive his Cyborg for future projects. Only time will tell what comes next in this saga, but there are surely more updates on the way.

Customised powerchair helps ‘human-cyborg’ on his inspiring journey to overcome MND – AT Today

A bespoke Permobil powerchair has played a pivotal role in scientist and robotics expert Dr Peter Scott-Morgans incredible journey as he explores and adopts the latest in cutting-edge technology and AI to overcome Motor Neurone Disease.

The Permobil F5 VS, an advanced standing powerchair, featured prominently in Channel 4s new documentary Peter: The Human Cyborg.

Dr Peter Scott-Morgan is a pioneer in the field of science and robotics, and boasts a masters in artificial intelligence (AI) and a PhD in robotics from Imperial College London.

In 2017, Peter learned that he had Motor Neurone Disease (MND) a terminal disease that degenerates nerve cells.

Immediately after his diagnosis, Peter decided to put his fascination with robotics into practice and set off on his extraordinary journey to become the worlds first human-cyborg.

Filmed over two years, the documentary follows Peter as he undergoes a radical cybernetic transformation, working with doctors, assistive technologists, engineers, designers and more as he employs surgery, AI and robotics to live his life to the fullest.

Permobils F5 VS, an advanced sit-to-stand powerchair, played a key role in Dr Scott-Morgans fascinating journey.

The company started working with Peter in 2018 as the robotics expert pushed the Permobil team to take the powerchair to its technological limits with an array of customisations needed to incorporate Dr Scott-Morgans range third-party additions.

Some of the customisations made to Peters chair include a powered respirator tray (respirator, food/water, muscle/massage pump); Command Centre providing 2x Lenovo Yoga, 2x Iris Bond, Asus 16 display (avatar), mounted on an electrically controlled swing-away bracket; powered height-adjustable armrest; and a powered BOSE headrest, fully adjustable with mini actuators for a perfect fit.

In addition, the chair boasts upgraded actuators to handle the extra weight added to the chair, as well as brackets on the backrest to hold 2x 360 webcams to give the user complete vision.

Discussing working with Peter, Gordon Cunningham, General Manager Permobil UK & Ireland, said: The starting point for Project Charlie, as we affectionately dubbed the project, was the same as with any chair: understanding that a power chair is not just a mobility device to get from A to B, but that the person in the chair sees it as his or her lifeline to life.

Our job is to then do all we can to make that possible.

Permobil and Peter decided to stagger the customisation of the F5 VS so he could benefit from it as soon as possible. Charlie Mark 1 was built and customised at the powerchair specialists workshop in northern Sweden and delivered to Peter in November 2018.

The ideas, imagination and the level of planning that have gone into his ability to live a fulfilling life have left us all in awe, said Pete Jones, Permobil Product Rehab Specialist who worked closely with Peter and Project Charlie.

As can be seen on screen, Peters drive and optimism is not to be underestimated or overlooked.

The last of the major powerchair enhancements were completed in late 2019, when the Eyegaze & avatar technology, intuitive co-pilot attendant control, and enhanced pressure relieving seating upgrades were installed. Permobil also confirmed fine-tuning some of the existing customisations too.

New Wasteland 3 patch resolves issues with co-op and "beefs up" Polly and the Cyborg Chickens – GamesRadar+

InXile has released a new patch for Wasteland 3 that seeks to address some of the issues plaguing the game across all platforms, including problems with co-op, gameplay, and stability.

As spotted by our pals at PC Gamer, Wasteland 3 version 1.1.0 is now live on PC on Steam and GOG, but will roll out across consoles and the Microsoft store later this week.

The team has now identified that "mismatched clients" is causing most of the trouble for PC players trying to buddy up in co-op, and says it "highly encourage[s] both the guest and host ensure theyve updated properly to the latest version of the game. Players who have disabled automatic updates on Steam and GOG, or those who use the GOG offline installers, should be extra vigilant in ensuring a version match."

That's not the only co-op issue to have been addressed in this update, either. Unspecified issues that cause the loss of character and quest progression has reportedly been fixed, as have the "multiple issues" that cause infinite loading screens, although the team remains "aware this issue is still impacting some players".

The patch also resolves the freeze that happens when players approach a specific robot in Broadmoor Heights, and another issue which sees the UI disappear if you're viewing the main menu "for a long time".

Solutions to gameplay and quest problems have also been addressed, including Fishlips encounter, an issue where some players would see an endlessly looping Ambush Site intro, and the La Perla quest. Oh, and Polly and the Cyborg Chickens "have been beefed up", too.

"Issues notwithstanding, Wasteland 3 is a terrific take on a tried-and-true formula," we said in the GamesRadar+ Wasteland 3 review. "Its tough, but fair. It rewards tinkering, but is straightforward enough that old school Wasteland fans and CRPG novices will both find plenty to enjoy. Both will likely be impressed at how heavily Wasteland 3 weighs your choices; how much it respects your agency and reflects your decisions with consequences that ripple across its world.

"I would love to see inXile attempt to innovate in their next release. The developer has made its name expertly retreading old ground. But, to put it in words the Provost would approve of: Audentes fortuna iuvat.

Does Wasteland 3 make our best games of 2020 so far list?

Wasteland 3- Where to Find all Cyborg Chickens – Attack of the Fanboy

In Wasteland 3, there are a total of five Cyborg Chickens players will need to find to unlock a special animal companion/ recruit in the game. As one is already in the Ranger HQ, players will need to find the other four and lead them back to HQ. To do this, youll also need to have the Animal Whisperer skill in order for them to follow you.

The first Cyborg Chicken in Wasteland 3 can be found at the Garden of the Gods. It is located north of the pit of burning corpses, and in order to get it, youll need to have at least a level four animal whisperer. Once you have that, you just have to convince it and lead it back to the coup at the Ranger HQ.

The next chicken is located at the Sans Luxe Apartment complex behind a locked door. To get inside, youll need to repair a nearby generator that requires a level five mechanics skill. Once youre able to fix the generator, the door will open and the chicken will be waiting inside the room. This time youll only need three points in the animal whisperer skill for it to follow you.

For the third Cyborg Chicken, youll need to head to the Broadmoor Heights Church. There youll see a small room on the side of the front entrance. To get inside, youll have to push a nearby button, which should be near the far left of the front entrance. You will once again need a level four animal whisperer to get it to come with you.

The last Cyborg Chicken youll have to find is at the Patriarchs Bunker below Broadmoor Heights. It is specifically located in the second room on the second floor of the building. As the last Cyborg Chicken, you should come prepared with someone with a level six sneak skill to get into the area and a level five animal whisperer skill to get the chicken to follow you.

Once you gather all the chickens at Ranger HQ and have progressed further in the game, you should receive your new special companion. As a precaution, when out gathering, be sure not to take unnecessary risks as they are prone to de-spawn and even die in combat.

Justice League: The Biggest Unanswered Questions in the Snyder Cut Trailer – Screen Rant

The trailer for the Justice League Snyder cut revealed a lot about the highly anticipated superhero movie, but also left many questions unanswered.

Here are the biggest unanswered questions coming out of theJustice League Snyder cut trailer. After much ado, Zack Snyder'sJustice League vision will finally be unveiled in 2021 as part of a 4-hour HBO Max limited series. The director's version of the movie was heavily altered by Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon ahead of the initial 2017 theatrical release, leaving fans immensely disappointed by what they sat through in the movie theater. Fortunately, the Snyder cut that once seemed impossible is now very much a reality, and the first full trailer was aired as part of DC's recent FanDome event.

The Snyder cut trailer emphasized just how different this story will be to the 2017Justice League. Fans were afforded glimpses at Darkseid and a revamped Steppenwolf, new Knightmare sequences were confirmed and Superman has a suave black suit. Meanwhile, Flashrescues Iris West, Lois Lane spots her resurrected boyfriend and Cyborg's father is killed by a Mother Box. Interestingly, the Snyder cut trailer also repurposed footage that was included in the earlyJustice League promotional material but cut from the final edit.

That's a fair few reveals to pack into a 2-minute montage, but while the new trailer gives a solid idea of the direction Snyder'sJustice League takes and the restorations made, the footage also raises many questions, ensuring the gears of speculation will continue to grind until the Snyder cut's 2021 release finally arrives. And, intriguingly, what the trailer leaves unanswered is almost as important as what it reveals.

The Snyder cut itself was borne from creative differences between filmmaker and studio, but even now fan pressure has yielded the desired result, Snyder's battles don't seem to be entirely over. When official confirmation of the Snyder cut's release landed, the director himself revealed an image bearing the title "Zack Snyder's Justice League" and it appeared that this would be the official name for the restoredJustice League. That moniker has since been quietly dropped, and the FanDome trailer offers no replacement, merely ending with a logo and "#TheSnyderCut."

Snyder revealed during his JusticeCon panel that there are some legal issues currently in the process of being chewed over. The use of a director's name in a movie title is tricky business, especially when the film is based on the intellectual property of another, and this appears to be hindering the announcement of a formal name for theJustice League Snyder cut. Essentially, to label a film "Zack Snyder's Justice League" risks implying that Snyder possesses some kind of ownership over DC's Justice League property, and thus far, it would appear a solution to this dilemma has not yet been found.

In the 2017 theatrical version ofJustice League, Bruce Wayne and his super-pals come to the conclusion that Steppenwolf's impending invasion is too big for them to handle alone, therefore a plan is hatched to bring Earth's favorite adopted Kryptonian back from the dead. Using a Mother Box, the crashed Krpyton ship in Metropolis, and Flash's metahuman speed, the League are able to resurrect themselves a powerful new recruit. Supes wakes up grumpy, and Batman is forced to use the sight of Lois Lane to calma rampaging Clark.

Related:Why Superman's Death Is In The Justice League Snyder Cut Trailer

As evidenced by theJustice League trailer, the aftermath of Superman's revival is very different in the Snyder cut. Lois Lane sees Superman flying from afar, and isn't brought in by Batman as a hail mary. The presence of a black suit suggests Superman takes longer to recover from his existential crisis than in the 2017 edit, and furthermore, the post-resurrection battle between Superman and the Justice League has been heavily altered. This naturally leads to the question of how Superman's resurrection was changed by Warner Bros. and Whedon. Is Silas Stone more heavily involved? Does the rising dirt on Superman's grave come into play? Zack Snyder has confirmed there was "much more" to Superman's return originally. Does this suggest the Justice League don't just resurrect him to bolster their ranks?

TheJustice League Snyder cut trailer opens with an image of Darkseid angrily swinging his weapon around a burning CGI landscape. The famous DC villain was one of the biggest casualties from 2017'sJustice Leaguedebacle, granted only a fleeting teaseinstead of the fully-fledged appearance that was planned. Thankfully, Darkseid is confirmed to feature in the Snyder cut, but the full extent of his role remains unknown. BeforeJustice League was given the Frankenstein treatment, Darkseid was reportedly meant to debut via Boom Tube at the end of the story, finishing off a defeated Steppenwolf and announcing himself to the Justice League to set up future DCEU efforts.

But the landscape has changed since then. Not only has the Snyder cut transformed into a 4-hour behemoth, but the prospect of continuing thefranchise long-termlooks decidedly slim at present. This means whatever mischief Darkseid brings to Earth needs to be wrapped up in the Snyder cut and the Snyder cut alone. The director is currently putting the finishing touches on his Justice League, and giving Darkseid a conclusive ending could be on his agenda.

Although both Darkseid and Steppenwolf physically appear in the new Snyder cut trailer, neither have any lines, leaving the cadence and timbre of their voices a mystery at present. Since he was excised from the theatrical cut altogether, the sound of Darkseid is the biggest unknown of the two, but the villainis now confirmed tobe voiced by Ray Porter, who has teased an unearthly tone to his performance. Steppenwolf was voiced and mo-capped by Ciarn Hinds in his 2017Justice League appearance, and that'll be true of the Snyder cut also, but some fans took issue with the baddie's soft design and less-than intimidating voice. Steppenwolf's monstrous form has been restored by the Snyder cut, but fans will have to wait to see whether his voice is also improved.

Related:Why The TITLE Of Zack Snyder's Justice League Is So Controversial

The Snyder cut trailer might've given the best look yet at DC's rejigged superhero team-up, but one majorquestion still hangs over the film: will a Green Lantern feature somewhere in the melee? Traditionally, Green Lantern is considered a core member of the Justice League group, and his absence in the 2017 film represented a notable deviation from the source material.Justice League's flashback battle sequence included a member of the Justice League Corps., but this was merely a fleeting glimpse rather than a fully-fledged introduction to a DCEU Green Lantern.

Rumors have hinted that the Green Lantern Corps. could play a larger role in the Snyder cut, possibly showing up in Bruce's Batcave, but exactly how they'll play into the overall story remains to be seen. Perhaps the bigger issue at hand is whether Earth will get a proper Green Lantern in the Snyder cut, whether that be Tom Cruise, Ryan Reynolds, or someone else entirely. This was likely something Snyder was planning for a potential sequel, but as with Darkseid, might need to be condensed in the 2021 HBO release.

Zack Snyder introduced his Knightmare in 2016'sBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, with Bruce Wayne experiencing a vision of a depressing, dystopian future where Superman was a villain and Gotham City was in ruins. A time-traveling Flash warned that Lois was the key, leadingBruce to use Superman's girlfriendas emotional KryptoniteinJustice League. After Steppenwolf's defeat, it's assumed that the Knightmare scenario was successfully averted, but Snyder had far bigger plans for this potential future storyline.

The latest Snyder cut trailer reintroduces the Knightmare scenario with an Easter egg-filled shot of Wayne Mansion in ruins, confirming the Knightmare arc will be expanded forJustice League's 2021 retribution. Still unknown is exactly how this unsettling vision of a broken Earth will factor into the widerJustice League story. A time travel element seems inevitable, and the Snyder cut will almost certainly give more context behind Flash's warning, but rumors persist that Lois Lane's death could push Superman into a darker mindset, leading to the unsavory Clark glimpsed inBatman V Superman's Knightmare.

Zack Snyder has made no secret that Ray Fisher's Cyborg will enjoy a much more significant role in the upcoming version ofJustice League. The director describes Victor Stone as the heart of his story, and the recent trailer teases an exploration into Cyborg's pre-robotic backstory as a football player. However, another shot depicts Cyborg controlling an airborne volley of missiles - an image that doesn't naturally fit into the structure ofJustice League as fans know it. Since Victor isn't actually Cyborg in this sequence, the shot is likely from some kind of vision or dream - perhaps a Mother Box-fueledglimpse at Cyborg's potential or an insight into a digital reality. Seeing how this moment fits into Cyborg's story will be intriguing, and establishes the potential for Victor to be far more powerful in the Snyder cut than he was previously in 2017's theatricalJustice League.
