Producer Accused By Ray Fisher Revealed That the Actor Was Upset Because They Wanted Him to Say Cyborg’s Catchphrase – Epicstream

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher asked why some fans are taking anissue as to why his character does not say the catchphrase, Booyah, in Zack Snyders Justice League. The actor asked fans on Twitter. This question isnt all too innocent if the basis will be producer Jon Berg who revealed that the actor didnt want to say the catchphrase when asked to do so.

On Twitter, Fisher asked fans with a serious reflective question to fans who are taking issue with Cyborg not saying the word booyah in Snyders cut. He added that are those fans just as upset when none of the other characters use their catchphrases.

He ended the question that if the fans are not bothered with the other characters not saying their catchphrases, why are they taking issue if Cyborg doesnt say it.

The actors fans flocked to the tweet to show support for him not wanting to say the catchphrase. However, his question might be loaded. In July 2020, Fisher accused Joss Whedon of engaging with gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behavior during the reshoots for Justice League.

The actor added that producers Jon Berg and Geoff Johns enabled Whedons behavior. Berg responded that Fishers accusations were categorically untrue. The producer added that he remembered a time that Fisher was upset because they wanted him to say Booyaa.

The producer said that it was a famous catchphrase of Cyborg in the animated series. Berg said, "I remember [Fisher] being upset that we wanted him to say Booyaa, which is a well-known saying of Cyborg in the animated series."

Warner Bros launched an investigation into the allegations but was later followed by a third-party investigation due to Fishers request. In December 2020, Warner Media announced the investigation was completed and remedial action was done based on the investigations findings.

Fisher, later on, said that he will not take part in any projects on Warner Bros. if its overseen by DC Films Walter Hamada, calling him a dangerous enabler. Despite the fiasco, the actor said that he will promote Zack Snyders Justice League. The actor said, "There's no way you can stop me from doing press for Zack Snyder's Justice League."

Zack Snyders Justice League will be released on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.

Superfight vs. Kayla Harrison Could Have Happened Already – Heavy.com

Bellator MMA womens featherweight champion Cris Cyborg recently expressed interest in a superfight showdown with 2019 PFL womens lightweight champion Kayla Harrison, but according to a source the megafight could have already happened at 155 had Cyborg signed with the PFL in 2019.

In fact, Cyborg vs. Harrison was exactly the womens superfight the PFL had in mind two years ago when the company did its best to sign Cyborg after the legendary MMA champs contract with the UFC expired.

Instead, Cyborg decided to sign with Bellator MMA, presumedly so she could continue feasting on the 145-pound fighters to which shes grown accustomed to beating.

Meanwhile, Harrison went on to grab PFL gold at 155 pounds, as well as that companys $1 million-dollar prize for winning the womens lightweight tournament.

Cyborg vs. Harrison might be a future cross-promotional superfight between two of the biggest MMA superstars in the world today, but its also something that could have happened already.

Cyborg signed with Bellator MMA in 2019, and the 35-year-old Brazilan went on to capture the womens featherweight championship for that organization.

That made Cybrog the first and only MMA fighter in history to win championships for UFC, Bellator MMA, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce. Its something Cyborg calls a Grand Slam, and shes been lauded by the likes of UFC superstar Conor McGregor and many others for having achieved it.

SoCyborg is considered by most MMA observers to be one of the most accomplished champions in MMA history.

In a combat sports world frequently way too quick to crown fighters as the greatest of all time, Cyborgs long history of excellence is one of the few cases that might actually warrant that kind of consideration.

Still, some have criticized Cyborg for refusing to move up in weight in the past, and sources stated that Cyborgs main contention about joining the PFLs growing roster of talent in 2019 was that she didnt want to face Harrison at 155.

Recently, Cyborg suggested that might no longer be an issue.

I believe this year shes gonna fight for PFL, shes gonna be in a tournament at 155, and if she becomes the champion of this tournament, for sure I would like to make a match with her that all the fans would like to watch, Cyborg told James Lynch on her YouTube channel.

Cyborg received several lucrative offers back in 2019, but sources say the PFLs offer was very strong.

Regardless, Cyborg ultimately chose Bellator for what PFL president Ray Selfo described back then as competitive and personal reasons.

I think she wanted to stay in the 145-pound division, Sefo said per MMA Junkie.

Indeed, when Cyborg hit free agency after leaving the UFC, Harrison, the PFLs impressive womens lightweight prodigy, issued a bold challenge to Cyborg via TMZ Sports.

Hi Cris, I heard you lost your job, but if youre interested, the PFL has a very special place for you, and its second [place], Harrison told TMZ Sports.

But Cyborg didnt end up accepting the challenge, and Sefo told MMA Junkie after her decision that it was probably because she wanted to stay at featherweight as well as her relationship with Bellator MMA president Scott Coker.

I think she felt a little bit more comfortable because of that past history, said Sefo per MMA Junkie.

Harrison might not yet have the same length of time as a professional MMA fighter under her belt, but the two-time Olympic gold medalist in Judo has already risen to the top of the sport since starting her pro fighting career back in 2018.

The 30-year-old American has consistently stated she desires megafights against the best fighters in the sport, including Cyborg.

Of course, I would love to fight Cyborg, Harrison said per MMA Junkie in 2020. Shes one of the greats. I dont think itll happen before the PFL season, but Ill fight anybody.

Harrisons challenge to Cyborg in 2019 didnt end up getting her the superfight, but she remains hopeful the fight can happen in the future.

Thats the goal, the goal is to become the greatest of all time. But Cyborg is another female superstar legend. Shes a legend of the sport and I would jump at that opportunity, Harrison said per MMA Junkie.

Teen Titans: What Happened to Terra in the 2003 Cartoon? | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

An episode of 2003's Teen Titans suggests that Terra could be alive, but she has no interest in rejoining the team.

During the Teen Titans Season 2 finale, "Aftershock Part 2," former member Terra sacrifices herself and defeats the villain Slade, but turns into stone in the process. The character was thought to befrozen until the Season 5 series finale, "Things Change," when Beast Boy comes across a girl who looks exactly like Terra. Although the episode's conclusion doesn't verify whether this girl is Terra,Teen Titans provides a few possibilities on how she came back to life.

Beast Boy first comes across this girl while battling a White Monster alongside the Teen Titans in Jump City. The shapeshifter immediately tells the team about his discovery, butCyborg and Raven explain that they already tried reviving her with their powers without any success. This leads Beast Boy toreturn to the place of her statue, which he finds is missing. Helater discovers thatthe girl from the aforementioned battle is a student at a local high school and persuadesher to eat pizza with him. Unfortunately, their meet-up goes awry when the girl cannot remember any ofTerra's past adventures with the Teen Titans.

RELATED:Teen Titans: Every Team Member Got Their Own Season - Except One

The girlreluctantly agrees to go with Beast Boy to Titans Tower, but while there, she cannot remember any of its details, including her former room. She also denies liking Terra's favorite pizza or enjoying the outdoors. During their time in Terra's old room, she appears to slightly remember a tin heart-shaped box that Beast Boy made, but it causes her instant discomfort, and she asks to leave. Before her departure, Beast Boy throws mud in her face ina last-ditch attempt to trigger her powers, but this simply infuriates the girl who storms off. Beast Boy has one final encounter with the girl at her school, where she tells him that things were never the way he remembered and that the Terra he recalls was just a memory. He eventually accepts that whether the girl is Terra or not, she just wants to live a normal life, and they go their separate ways.

Several of the Teen Titans propose a few theories as to how Terra returned. Robin suggests that Terra freed herself, as she is capable of manipulating the earth and stones. Cyborgstates that an earthquake could've occurred while the team was absent from Jump City. Raven posits the possibilitythat the stone effect simplywore off, then explains that Terra did not return to the group as a result of their final encounter as enemies. While Beast Boysearches for Terra, he comes across a robot named Slade who implies that Terra simply chose to come back without her memory. Although this is possible, Slade is a known manipulator and was likely lying.

Season 4's multi-part finale, "The End," offers a few possibilities regarding Terra's return. During "The End Part 2," Slade reveals that Trigon brought him back to life in return for his servitude, which means that the demon also had the power to revive Terra. The episode also sees the demon turn nearly all of the Earth's inhabitants, except the Teen Titans, into stone. Trigon's ultimate defeat at the hands of Raven during the following episode, "The End Part 3," reversed this action, which could've unfrozen Terra in the process.

The girl Beast Boy comes across shows no interest in crime-fighting, and any memories she had as Terra are likely buried due to her trauma. While it's possible that Terra came back to life, "Things Change" shows that her future does not lie with the Teen Titans.

I Correctly Guessed The Entire Plot Of The Mass Effect Trilogy From Looking At Ten Screenshots – TheGamer

Today marks the start ofMass Effect Week here at TheGamer. If you're out of the loop, the team has been working tirelessly to bring you interviews, essays, and exclusive behind-the-scenes features to celebrate the upcoming release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. We're all very excited to show you what we've got planned this week, after all, Mass Effect is one of the greatest RPG games ever created. Or at least, that's what I'm told. I've never actually played any of the Mass Effect games.

Related:"We Weren't That Smart" - Mass Effect Writer Likes The Indoctrination Theory, But It Was Created By Fans

I am no slouch, however, so when the boss man says "Jump for Massive Effect, Eric" I say "How High, Sir?" I may not know Mass Effect, but I know a lot about plot structure and science fiction stories. What follows is my estimation of who the characters in Mass Effect are and what events unfold throughout the trilogy. As far as I know and I haven't asked a single person these guesses are 100% accurate and correct.

Starting off with the one everyone knows: this is Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Commander of the SS Omaha. Sheppard is a veteran of the first Galactic Space War and he carries thebattle scars on his heart (and his face). He has a cold-blooded reputation and body count to back it up. Sheppard's "shoot first, ask questions never" attitude has been known to get him into trouble now and again, but his loyal crew of ne'er-do-wells can always be counted on to get him out of a jam. Morally flexible but emotionally rigid, John Sheppardstartsas a cold and distant spaceman with a chip on his shoulder and a big ol' slice, again, on his face. Sheppard eventually learns to be a more caring and compassionate leader. I guess you could say the love of his crew has a "Mass Effect" on him ;).

This is Sheppard's right-hand man, Big Glenn. Sheppard and Glenn fought side by side during the first Galactic Space War. Brothers-in-arms, Big Glenn was Sheppard's first recruit after the war. Big Glenn used to be a normal-looking human man like Sheppard but volunteered himself to be turned intoa hideous rock monster during the war (before the transformation he was known as Glenn). Big Glenn secretly resents Sheppard for looking like a normal man and eventually betrays Sheppard and the crew at the end of Mass Effect 2. Big Glenn later joins up with Sheppard's sworn enemy, Darth Cyborg.

Darth Cyborg is the sworn enemy ofLt. Colonel John Sheppard and the main antagonist throughout all three Mass Effect games. Cyborg and his legion of unmen threatened peace in the galaxy during the first war. When the war ended, Cyborg faked his death and went into hiding, but resurfaced at the beginning of Mass Effectto terrorize Sheppard and his crew throughout the trilogy. Driven by an insatiable lust for revenge, Darth Cyborg will stop at nothing to see Sheppard fall beneath his robot heel. He is voiced by David Schwimmer.

Related:Remembering The Rebel Inside - An Interview With Courtenay Taylor, The Actor Behind Mass Effect 2s Jack

Kortana is Sheppard's love interest and AI companion throughout all three games. After a particularly dangerous space heist, Sheppard is told by his client that he can't pay him the galactic credits he owes him, but offers him Kortana instead. Sheppard and Kortana quickly form a close bond, but given her incorporeal nature, there is an unresolvable barrier that keeps them at a distance. During Mass Effect 2, Sheppard acquires a synthetic body for Kortana so they can finally be together. Unfortunately, the end of Mass Effect 3 reveals that the entire series was just a fantasy created by Kortana so that she could simulate her life together with Sheppard. It's a sad ending, but this is why everyone hates Mass Effect 3.

These are just the Sentinels from The Matrix: Reloaded. Next.

This is Klerg the Pyromaniac. Klerg is a mercenary that Sheppard picks up during the first Mass Effect while investigating Darth Cyborg's whereabouts. Klerg is wanted by the galactic police on ten counts of arson, but unfortunately, Sheppard doesn't know this until the law comes looking for him. Ever the loyal leader, Sheppard distracts the police while Klerg sets their space ship on fire. This cements their bond, and Klerg the Pyromaniac becomes one of Sheppard's most loyal crew members throughout the rest of the series. Klerg can eventually learn pyromancy if you allow him to train at the School of Destruction on the planet Nirn.

This is Sheppard's pet gorpo, Spots. Gorpos are basically space dogs, but they live for 400 years and can speak simple English. Sheppard inherited Spots from Colonel Jacob Sanders, his commander in the space war. Spots is 375 years old and one of the last living beings that can still remember Earth That Was. He often makespop culture references and serves as the comic relief in Mass Effect. His catchphrase is, "What's a gorpo gotta do to get a Bud Light Lime around here?"

Related:Jacob From Mass Effect Was Once Romanceable For Male Shepard In "Brokeback Mountain" Cutscene

Anexistential threat to the galaxy is introduced in Mass Effect 2. After being defeated by Sheppard and his crew in the first game, Darth Cyborg develops a parasite that spreads to all plant life throughout the galaxy. Left unchecked, the parasite attaches itself to the space flora and quickly transforms it into strange, shimmering creatures. At first, Sheppard and his crew don't understand what is happening to the space trees, which are uprooting themselves and attacking people all across the galaxy. He eventually traces the parasite back to Darth Cyborg and forces him to hand over the anti-parasite, rescuing the galaxy from certain doom.

These are Darth Cyborg's unmen, created at the end of Mass Effect 2 when Cyborg's parasite mixes with ultra-violent light (light created from two stars smashing into each other) and infects a human host. The unmen are fierce warriors that crave death and destruction. Darth Cyborg turns them loose on an unsuspecting galaxy in Mass Effect 3 and leads them in the second Galactic Space War, with Sheppard and his crew leading the resistance. The unmen are eventually defeated as all villains are with the power of love.

The Power of Love is a kick-ass laser beam capable of absolutely obliterating Darth Cyborg and his legion of unmen. Built-in secret by an ancient race of highly-advanced aliens called the Chozones, The Power of Love serves as the home base for Sheppard and his crew throughout most of Mass Effect 3. In the end, the heroes discover that the only thing that can power the Power of Love is Kortana. She sacrifices herself to defeat Darth Cyborg once and for all and save the galaxy. This would have been a powerful moment, but of course, it's then revealed the entire trilogy was a dream sequence/simulation in Kortana's artificial mind. Everyone hates this ending.

There you go, my 100% accurate and true summary of the Mass Effect trilogy, I think.

If you'd like to read more aboutMass Effect from the people that actually made the game, check out this interview with Courtenay Taylor, who plays Jack in Mass Effect 2. ”The Nevers” to premiere on HBO in April – Outlook India

Los Angeles, Feb 3 (PTI) "The Nevers", a sci-fi period drama created by Joss Whedon, will air on HBO in April, the premium cable network has announced.

HBO released a teaser trailer of the show on Tuesday night that gave a glimpse into "The Nevers", which revolves around a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies, and a mission that might change the world.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon exited the show in late November citing "the physical challenges of making such a huge show during a global pandemic".

Screenwriter Philippa Goslett, known for her work in films like "Mary Magdalene" and "How to Talk to Girls at Parties", took over showrunner duties from Whedon last week.

Led by Laura Donnelly, Ann Skelley, Olivia Williams and Nick Frost, the cast of the show also includes Kiran Sonia Sawar, Elizabeth Berrington, Ella Smith, Viola Prettejohn, Anna Devlin and Martyn Ford.

The six episodes HBO will debut in the spring were filmed before Whedon''s departure.

The remainder of the first season, under Goslett, will follow at a later time.

Whedon and producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg were under investigation by WarnerMedia, HBO''s parent company, over allegations of misconduct on the set of "Justice League" made by star Ray Fisher, who starred as Victor Stone alias Cyborg in the DC comicbook film adaptations.

Late December last year, WarnerMedia said the company had concluded the investigation and "remedial action" had been taken, without elaborating what it entailed.

Whedon stepped in for Zach Snyder on the 2017 superhero project after the latter exited the film in the wake of a family tragedy.

When the completion of the probe was announced by WarnerMedia, Fisher said he will not be part of any project associated with DC Films President Walter Hamada, whom the actor earlier called "most dangerous kind of enabler".

In January, Fisher confirmed he had received official confirmation that studio Warner Bros has decided to "remove" him from the cast of their upcoming superhero movie "The Flash".

In his previous posts, the actor has accused Hamada of protecting Johns and Whedon by hampering the studio''s investigation into his allegations.

Hamada became president of DC Films in 2018, after "Justice League" opened in theatres to poor reviews and box office records.

However, Fisher maintains Hamada has failed to take his claims seriously about the Whedon-led reshoots of "Justice League". PTI RDSRDS

Claressa Shields open to Katie Taylor fight but says she is already greatest female boxer of all time – DAZN News US

Claressa Shields has responded positively to recent quotes from Katie Taylor that indicated she would love to one day challenge her fellow undefeated women's boxing icon, despite the gap in weight classes.

Taylor has made it known that she would like to make as many big-name fights happen as possible before she ends her career, including against the likes of Jessica McCaskill, Cecila Braekhus, Shields herself and even MMA star Cris Cyborg.

If Taylor vs. Shields were to happen today, it would pit the current undisputed lightweight champion against the former undisputed and now unified middleweight champion. The Irish fighter says she could go as high as welterweight to make it happen. However, that is still quite the weight-cut for the American, who hasn't made 147lbsince she was 16 years old.

"I would go to 147lbs for a fight with Katie Taylor,"Shields told Metro.co.uk. "I was willing to go to 147 for a fight against Cecilia Braekhus, and I will still go to 147 to fight Jessica McCaskill. But my thing is, 'If you want me to come to 147, you have to pay me to come to 147'.My highest purse is $350k, so to go down to that weight, I would like to be paid the right way and given a fair shot. I think a lot of these fighters want me to come to 147 and not rehydrate, but that's not good for any fighter.I think a fight between me and her, me not rehydrating back up to 160, is fair because she is coming up from a smaller weight class. But don't say I can't rehydrate past 150lbs. That's unfair. Somewhere from 154-158 would be fair."

Shields cited her past experiences with trying to negotiate with a welterweight and how unjust the expectations were.

"I had discussions with Cecilia Braekhus and her team, but they want no parts of me," Shields said."They were saying, 'Yeah, we'll fight at 147, but you can't rehydrate past 150lbs'. 'I was like, "are y'all crazy?"

"For one, I would still whoop her ass if that happened, but I care about how I perform and displaying my best skill set in every fight.I'm not going to go in there looking all tired and sluggish. I'll still win, but I want to be able to watch my film and think, "I did great."

Shields also believes that whatever happens between her and Taylor in the future, she is already well ahead of Katie in the 'greatest female boxer ever' stakes and can not be caught.

"To me, there is no debate, to be honest,"Shields said."I feel like that is me, period.I have a lot of respect for Katie Taylor, and I feel like it really depends what you like inside the ring. Do you like somebody that moves around, and you like people to have competitive fights?Kind of like the fight between Katie Taylor and Delfine Persoon. You will never see me in a fight that close. But I think some people look at that as a plus and it makes them like a fighter more.

"(People say) 'Oh, she got in a war, she won close fights.'Then you watch me go in there with some of the best fighters, and I make them look average, and even though you can say, 'I'm the better fighter'. But people like to know that fighters have vulnerabilities and I haven't shown any vulnerabilities except the fight against [Hanna] Gabriels. She knocked me down in the first round, but when I got back up, it was all hell to pay for her, and I won a unanimous decision. I think in terms of skills and everything we can do inside the ring that I'm definitely the pound-for-pound greatest woman of all time. But those who say Katie Taylor, I don't get mad, I disagree, but that's just their flavour."

Shields next steps into the boxing ring on March 5 in her hometown of Flint, Michigan, against Canada'sMarie-Eve Dicaire, but will also make her professional MMA debut later in the year.

Blu-ray TV reviews: ‘Snowpiercer’ and ‘Doom Patrol’ – Washington Times

Heres a look at a pair of excellent episodic shows from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment now available in the Blu-ray format.

Snowpiercer: The Complete First Season (Rated: TV-MA, 1.78:1 aspect ratio, 440 minutes, $29.98) TNTs popular post-apocalyptic, sci-fi series debuts on the Blu-ray format to offer bingers a chance to catch up on the first 10 episodes of the show before diving into the currently broadcast second season.

Reimagined from director Bong Joon-hos 2013 movie and the 1982 French graphic novel, the show offers an adventure in class warfare in the most claustrophobic way possible.

Specifically, well-meaning scientists accidentally unleash an ice age as they tried to curb the heating of the planet setting off an extinction event.

Luckily, mysterious billionaire Wilford builds a train with a perpetual-motion engine to circle the planet and keep only the most-deserving and wealthy of humans alive.

That translates into 3,000 survivors stuck on a 10-mile-long, 1,001-car train divided by classes first (for high-priced, paid passengers); second and third classes (for those with specialized skill sets to keep the train running and passengers fed); and a final group who illegally hijacked some of the rear cars of the train.

Led by Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) and disrespectfully called tailers, they are treated with disdain and nearly slave status by the other passengers. Of course, Layton and his rebel survivors want more and hatch a plot to take control of the Snowpiercer.

A wrinkle to the plan occurs when Head of Hospitality Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) asks Layton to come up the train and wear his former Detroit homicide detective hat to solve a series of murders.

They form a bond that will ultimately decide the fate of humanity as well as reveal who is really in charge of the Snowpiercer.

I defy any viewer to not often bite their fingernails to the nub after watching what starts out as a dystopian version of Murder on the Orient Express and eventually evolves into a graphically violent and bloody expose on a class revolution.

Suffice it to report, sci-fi junkies, its time to board the Snowpiercer.

Best extras: A collection of four promotional featurettes (roughly 12 minutes total) offer the barest of surface information about the series with talking head gushing from crew and cast including director James Hawes, showrunner Graeme Manson, Miss Connelly and Mr. Diggs.

Only a six-minute look at some of the key train cars (first-class dining, night car, classroom and the drawers for example) explored by production designer Barry Robison delivers some meaty background for new fans.

The extras should have been so much more. An optional commentary track on any of the episodes would have been nice or, better yet, a look at the adaptation of the series based on the original source material.

Doom Patrol: The Complete Second Season (Not rated, 2.20:1 aspect ratio, 405 minutes, $39.99) HBO Max continued the mature, live-action adventures of DC Comics strangest superhero team adapted from their 1960s comic book roots as well as writer Grant Morrisons updated group from the late 1980s.

The latest nine episodes of the show arrives via a pair of Blu-ray discs returning viewers to the Victorian-styled Doom Manor where they are reacquainted with former actress Rita Farr aka Elasti-Girl (April Bowlby); former NASCAR driver Cliff Steele aka Robotman (Brendan Fraser); former experimental aircraft pilot Larry Trainor aka Negative Man (Matt Bomer); Kay Challis aka multiple personality-loaded Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero); Vic Stone aka Teen Titans Cyborg (Joivan Wade); and wheelchair-bound leader Dr. Niles Caulder aka Chief (Timothy Dalton).

The show thrives on simmering side plots that reveal the origins of the tragic Doom Patrol members as well as pitting them against some incredible villains.

This season, we learned about Chiefs mysterious daughter, the primate-faced Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro) and her monstrous imaginary friends now living with her in the mansion, Larry Trainors remaining family after he attends his 60-year-old sons funeral and the horrors of Miss Farrs childhood living with a showbiz mother.

Visually impressive, guest star villains, authentic from the comics, appear en masse to vex the Doom Patrol including interdimensional sadist Red Jack; premier time manipulator Dr. Tyme; the sex demon Shadowy Mr. Evans; and the star enemy of the season, the super-powered ancient deity Candlemaker, unleashed by Chiefs daughter.

And developers make sure to throw in even more comic book characters to thrill fans ranging from the return of heroic body builder Flex Mentallo to an introduction to space-traveling Pioneers of the Uncharted team member Valentina Vostok and even the Sex Men, a group of paranormal sexual phenomenon investigators who arrive to stop Shadowy Mr. Evans.

Yeah, the Sex Men really did show up in DCs sequential art, specifically Doom Patrol No. 48 way back in 1991.

The show also loves to embrace pop culture chaos demonstrated in the irreverent fantasy sequence where Cyborg and Robotman appear in a 1970s cop show Steel and Stone, or the group throwing a 1980s disco party to restore a sentient, teleporting entity Danny, currently in the form of a shattered brick.

However, most tragic to the Doom Patrol was the pandemic-shortened season, down from the 15 episodes of the first season.

It not only forced writers to lose one episode of the slated 10-episode story arc, but fans must wait for a third season to further appreciate one of the best, albeit odd superhero shows on any broadcast or streaming mediums.

Best extras: Tragedy abounds with the pathetic selection of bonus content with viewers only get nine minutes on the impressive make-up and visual effects design and two minutes on shooting locations.

Extras for the first season set were just as miserable, and it would be great if next seasons set offered a definitive retrospective on the Doom Patrols origins or the occasional optional commentary track to enlighten viewers to some of the more complex stories.

10 Anime To If You Love Cyberpunk 2077 – TheGamer

Cyberpunk 2077 is a decent entry into the niche that is cyberpunk which the world isn't quite ready for just yet. Its release marks an important milestone in the said media genre as there aren't as many cyberpunk gamesin that class of popularity. Sadly, the release was marred by bugs and performance issues and the game was also rather short. It was short enough to leave playerscraving more cyberpunk adventures.

RELATED:Every Difference Between The PS5 & Xbox Series X Version Of Cyberpunk 2077

But some fans might want to take a break from cyberpunk games with other media in the genre. It just so happens that nothing else explains cyberpunk better than anime because Japan essentially fueled the cyberpunk golden age.

So breathe in that high-tech poverty and crime dystopia with these iconic cyberpunk anime. They ought to fill in the void left by Cyberpunk 2077.

No one canmention cyberpunk without giving a nod to this one. Ghost in the Shell is quite possibly the most important cyberpunk anime in existence as it served as the creative fuel for the Wachowskisiblings when they conceived the Matrix films.

There are many iterations within the Ghost in the Shell family to enjoy such as Stand Alone Complex with characters pictured above. The original film isby far the most philosophical of the bunch and explores the idea of an AI becoming a thinking individual with its own morals. At the heart of that is Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg whose memories are the only human part of heror ghosts in a shell, if you will.

Ergo Proxy is another anime with a female protagonist and a deep plot about the nature of humanity. It explores a world that is still reeling from a recent apocalyptic event. One last bastion of human civilization is all that's left in the world. In order to make their lives and survival easier, special androids were created.

In the anime's current timeline, however, the said androids started exhibiting human behavior and asking questions that not many humans would want to answer. It's up to the androids and humans to investigate the root of such matters before things spiral out of control.

Bubblegum Crisis assumes the typical premise of most cyberpunk worlds. It imagines a Japan that was devastated by a huge Earthquake; this ruined much of society with extreme povertyon top of the physical damage.Furthermore, an evil corporation is producing mechanical monsters that are too much for the police to handle.

So along came the Knight Sabers to set things straight and to fix the problems that the corrupt and evil corporations started. They also do it in style as most of their members are pretty, young, and stylish female powerhouses that commandeer special armor to combat the mechanical beasts.

Psycho-Pass is also more popularly known as the anime version of Minority Report. The whole anime revolves around the so-called Sibyl System that predicts criminal behavior in individuals before they commit crimes. The idea originates from asci-fi novella by Philip K. Dick of the same name as the movie.

RELATED:Cyberpunk 2077: 5 Best Areas Of Night City (& 5 Not To Bother With)

Such a setup is ripe for suspenseful detective opportunities and that's where most of Psycho-Pass's story lives. Much like most cop stories, this one involves an idealistic rookie and her veteran partner who's one case away from becoming a disillusioned outcast.

Iffans don't mind going a bit further in the future, then Battle Angel Alita offers a grim and unsettling dystopia where the poor live amongst the rich's trash heap. After watching this one, people can also treat themselves to a live-action Hollywood adaptation. The film, called Alita Battle Angel, released in 2019.

They pretty much have the same story and narrative nearly shot-for-shot. Both films begin with a cyborg doctor discovering Alita's mangled remains in a garbage dump. Pretty soon, he discovers that Alita is more than just an old cyborg and has a past that makes her a deadly individual.

Much like Ghost in the Shell, Akira is also a significant film for the cyberpunk genre. It was first released back in 1988 and even by today's standards, it puts many other anime to shame with its fluid hand-drawn visuals.

RELATED:Cyberpunk 2077: The Best & Worst Things About Each Romance

The story itself is also riveting as it follows the struggle of a biker gang where one of their friendswas unfortunate enough to be an accidental vessel for an entity that can warp reality. Amidst all that, a riot is also ensuing against the government which presumably prioritizes experiments instead of the welfare of their people.

Texhnolyze toys around with one of the cyberpunk genre's most ubiquitous trademarks: cybernetics. The idea that people can discard their organic parts and become functionally immortal or something stronger, faster, and smarter is one of the points of conflict in the genreas Cyberpunk 2077 exhibited. Texhnolyze further showcases this idea.

This notion is seen in action through the eyes of an unfortunate prizefighter who lost some of his limbs due to "occupational hazards." He was, however, chosen as a candidate for an experimental limb tech called Texhnolyze.

A cyborg with a giant revolver for a head is not somethingpeoplewould expect in a cyberpunk setting but this is anime, so No Guns Life is about as valid as it is outrageous. That cyborg is also the main character of the show and has a trench coat that puts all noir detectives to shame.

He was created as a special kind of weapon to fight in a war. Is anyone getting Master Chief vibes here? The catch is that he has no memories of his pre-war life but life goes on anyway. He decided to become a private investigator who solves crimes related to cyborgs similar to him.

This kind of animation might put some people off, but Blame! is a solid cyberpunk film and six-episode series. The story takes place in an entirely automated world in a time far more technologically advanced than now. An infection takes hold of the automated systems and the city begins to go haywire.

Without getting too spoiler-y, the basic plot is a team is deployed to fix The Problem. The team including Killy the Wanderer must evade the Safeguard -- a rampant defense system purging humans. Pop the popcorn, grab your favorite beverage, and settle in for some classic cyberpunk action.

Serial Experiments Lain mostly focuses on the intellectual side of cyberpunk and as such, it tackles an issue more convoluted than Cyberpunk 2077's proto-immortality corpo-war angle. The protagonist Lain suddenly stumbles upon a cyberspace not unlike our internet today.

Only, the cyberspace she opened is more dangerous and reality-altering. Serial Experiments Lain shows its viewers the dangers of false identities forged in a digital world in what appears to be a cyberpunk setting at its infancy.

After a year that most of us want to forget, 2021 is shaping up to start with stability and an even keel. The election is safely behind us, the new Biden Administration promises a no drama approach, a closely divided and hyper-partisan Congress is unlikely to enact any sweeping legislation, reform or otherwise, and COVID vaccines are ready for distribution. Its a recipe for a calm news cycle.Which makes it a perfect time to buy into the stock market. Investors can read the tea leaves, or study the data whatever their preferred mode of stock analysis and use this period of calm to make rational choices on the stock moves. Using the TipRanks database, weve pulled up three stocks that present a bullish case. All three meet a profile that should interest value investors. They hold unanimous Strong Buy consensus ratings, along with a perfect 10 from the Smart Score. That score, a unique measure, evaluates a stock based on 8 factors with a proven high correlation to future overperformance. A 10 score indicates a strong likelihood that the stock will rise in the coming year. And finally, all three of these stocks present with double-digit upside potentials, indicating that they are still undervalued.UMH Properties (UMH)Well start in the real estate investment trust (REIT) sector, with UMH Properties. This company, which started out after WWII in the mobile home industry, later become the premier builder of manufactured housing. Today, UMH owns and manages a portfolio of 124 manufactured housing communities, spread across 8 states in the Northeast and Midwest, and totaling well over 23,000 units. As a REIT, UMH has benefitted from the nature of manufactured houses as affordable options in the housing market. UMH both sells the manufactured homes to residents, while leasing the plots on which the properties stand, and leases homes to residents. The companys same-property income, a key metric, showed 8.6% year-over-year increase in the third quarter. Also in the third quarter, UMH reported a 16% yoy increase in top line revenue, showing $43.1 million compared to $37.3 million in the year-ago quarter. Funds from Operations, another key metric in the REIT sector, came in at 11 cents per share, down from 14 cents in 3Q19. The decrease came as the company redeemed $2.9 million in Series B Preferred Stock.REITs are required to return income to shareholders, and UMH accomplishes this with a reliable dividend and a high yield of 4.7%. The payment, at 18 cents per common share, is paid quarterly and has been held stable for over a decade.Compass Point analyst Merrill Ross believes the company is in a sound position to create value for both households and shareholders."We believe that UMH has proven that it can bring attractive, affordable housing to either renters or homeowners more efficiently than has been possible with vertical rental housing. As UMH improves its cost of funds, it can compete more effectively with other MH community owners in the public and private realms, and because it has a successful formula to turn around undermanaged communities, we think that UMH can consolidate privately-owned properties over the next few years to build on its potential for value creation," Ross opined. To this end, Ross rates UMH a Buy, and her $20 price target implies a 25% one-year upside. (To watch Rosss track record, click here)Overall, the unanimous Strong Buy on UMH is based on 5 recent reviews. Ecommerce now makes up 49% of the companys net sales no surprise during the corona year. The review on the stock comes from Robert Burleson, a 5-star analyst from Canaccord. Burleson reiterates his bullish position, saying, We continue to view LSF as an attractive platform play on strong demand trends for plant-based, functional foods, noting LSFs competitively differentiated omni-channel approach and ingredients ethos. Over time, we expect LSF to be able to leverage its brand and vertically integrated operation into success in a broad range of plant-based categories, driving outsized top-line growth and healthy margin expansion.Burleson rates LSF shares a Buy alongside a $70 price target. This figure indicates his confidence in ~63% growth on the one-year horizon. (To watch Burlesons track record, click here)Laird has not attracted a lot of analyst attention, but those who have reviewed the stock agree with Burlesons assessment. LSF has a unanimous Strong Buy analyst consensus rating, based on 3 recent reviews. The stocks $62.33 average price target suggests room for ~39% upside in the coming year. (See LSF stock analysis on TipRanks)TravelCenters of America (TA)Last but not least is TravelCenters of America, a major name in the transportation sector. TravelCenters owns, operates, and franchises full-service highway rest stops across the US an important niche in a country that relies heavily on long-haul trucking, and in which private car ownership has long encouraged the road trip mystique. TAs network of rest stops offers travelers convenience stores and fast-food restaurants in addition to gasoline and diesel fuel and the expected amenities. The corona crisis has been hard time for TA, as lockdown regulations put a damper on travel. The companys revenues bottomed out in Q2, falling to $986 million, but rose 28% sequentially to hit $1.27 billion in Q3. EPS, at 61 cents, was also strong, and showed impressive 165% year-over-year growth. These gains came as the economy started reopening and with air travel still restricted, automobiles become the default for long distance, a circumstance that benefits TravelCenters. Covering TravelCenters for BTIG is analyst James Sullivan, who rates the stock a Buy, and his $40 price target suggests a 22% upside over the coming year. (To watch Sullivans track record, click here)Backing his stance, Sullivan noted, "TA is in the process of moving on from a series of unsuccessful initiatives under the prior management team. The current new management team has strengthened the balance sheet and intends to improve operations through both expense cuts and revenue-generating measures which should boost margins [...] While we expect the 2020 spend to be focused on non-revenue generating maintenance and repair items, we expect in 2021 and beyond that higher spending should generate good ROI All in all, TravelCenters shares get a unanimous thumbs up, with 3 Buys backing the stocks Strong Buy consensus rating. Shares sell for $32.87, and the average price target of $38.33 suggests an upside potential of ~17%. Cyberpunk 2077’s Johnny Silverhand & 9 Other Most Popular Cyborgs In Video Games – TheGamer

The awesome thing about video games is that anything is easily possible. Lost an arm or leg? No biggie, regardless of whether you're good or bad, it's gonna get replaced with a mechanical part, the chances are higher of course, in a sci-fi world. Of course, there are other characters who voluntarily replace their flesh and bones with something more durable to release themselves from their organic shackles.

RELATED:In-Game Vs. Reality: What Life Is Strange Characters Look Like In Real Life

It's the logical choice especially in many settings and for some characters to keep up with unfair superpowered villains or heroes. Narrative-wise, cyborgs are also some of the most interesting characters because these guys have gone through loss and that makes them more relatable and dramatic. The result is that cyborgs in video games are always memorable; these half-robots prove that much.

One of the recent additions here, Johnny Silverhand just woke the eff up and started telling players what to do while being one of the nastiest rebels in Cyberpunk 2077. Voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves, Johnny gets associated with the player's character by chance.

Since then, he's been plaguing their heads and giving some polarizing advice on Night City's state of affairs. The catch is that Johnny is actually dead and only lives as an uploaded program so he probably can't hurt you no matter how many robot dogs you shoot.

Much like the video game, Crysis, the nanosuits in the game world are also way too demanding for the regular Joe. Turns out they're a living and breathing armor made out of alien components and they tend to fuse themselves to their wearers.

RELATED:In-Game Vs. Reality: What Uncharted Characters Look Like In Real Life

If removed, then there's a huge chance that their wearer will die after being dependent on them. That effectively makes Prophet, one of the main faces of Crysis, as well as the rest of the boys, cyborgs. With how they move and fight, that should be pretty explanatory.

It might have a pseudoscientific and military fetish, but there's no denying that the lore in Metal Gear is nevertheless interesting. Even as early as the 1980s, the series has been churning out cyborgs and low-tech cybernetics in the form of Venom Snake's prosthetic hand.

It's subtle but pretty much functions like a regular hand. More than that, it packs quite a punch literally, as it can be used to incapacitate hapless Soviet soldiers stuck under the Afghan sun. Honorable mentions go to Revolver Ocelot and future iterations of Snake who might have ingested too many nanomachine plot devices.

Speaking of nanomachines, here's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Raiden likely represents the peak of Metal Gear cybernetics along with the invincible Senator Armstrong who's too jacked up in nanomachines to care about fairness.

RELATED:In-Game vs. Reality: What Skyrim Characters Look Like In Real Life

It's nothing too hard for Raiden, however. Apart from cybernetically augmented strength, speed, and angst, Raiden also has a penchant for having some convenient blades tucked into his joints and if the going gets tough, he can also vanish from thin air with a top-of-the-line cloaking tech.

If Raiden is too much for you, then maybe a more reasonably sensible cyborg like Adam Jensen is more believable. Adam loves to abide by the rules of his own world and usually doesn't act or perform combat like a superhero.

His cybernetics are a result of his being a perfect candidate as well as an attempt to preserve his life after a debilitating combat injury. As far as augmentations go, Adam is a Swiss Army knife and is enhanced in multiple aspects from hacking and athleticism to even social skills.

You would have had to live under a rock for the past 2 decades in order to not know or at least recognize Master Chief from the Halo franchise. One of the most ubiquitous poster boys of gaming is actually a cyborg underneath that swaggy suit.

RELATED:In-Game vs Reality: What Genshin Impact Characters Look Like In Real Life

That's because in order to use his special Spartan armor, Master Chief had to undergo several cybernetic augmentations. His upgrades are not as boastful or apparent as other cyborgs,' usually just a Spartan Neural Interface but these grant him superhuman-levels of physical capabilities.

Much like Master Chief, Commander Shepard is an icon and when not being a space swinger during his rest days, he's usually ripping apart troublemakers in the Milky Way. In the first game, he's more or less organic, but come the second title, Shepard got an overhaul.

He practically died and was brought back to life by Cerberus using advanced technology and cyber improvements. By that time and until the third game, he's no longer just a regular human and has become some sort of cyborg Frankenstein.

For retro-futuristic "cyborgification," look no further than Bioshock's resident roaming enforcers, the Big Daddy. These hulking masses are humans who got spliced so much that they became something else and were fused with a menacing diving suit and typically a drill for one of its arms.

RELATED:Genshin Impact: Every Paid Character Currently In The Game & What Their Element Is

As far as unconventional video game cyborgs go, the Big Daddy is the most unique. The fact that it exists in a steampunk or dieselpunk world is interesting enough. Even the sequel is based around them.

Barret Wallace is one of the oldest cyborgs around, dating back from 1997 in Final Fantasy VII where he was introduced as a tall and fearsome comrade of the good guys. His cyborg qualities are more subtle though and are only apparent in his gun-arm.

Instead of making it a functional fake hand like most normal cyborgs who lost their arm, Barret thought that he probably could use a gun more despite being in a world where anything is possible. We don't judge him for his choice, though he reallyneeded a hand.

Now for a change of scenery, here's a bad guy instead, courtesy of the Doom franchise. The Cyberdemon has always been one of the most disturbing meanies in those games and he represents other evil cyborg anomalies in the game as well.

He mostly appeared as a mini-boss and tougher-than-usual demon in the earlier games but Doom 2016 officially made Cyberdemon into a boss. And guess what? He's angry at the players for thinking that only humans are allowed to be cyborgs, so he's always trying his best to kill you, for the sake of demon-kind inclusivity.

‘I’ve never felt less festive’: the art of writing Christmas novels, 365 days a year – The Guardian

Christmas novels are not a new phenomenon. Charles Dickens sold out of his first print run of A Christmas Carol in days in December 1843, while Agatha Christie played on seasonal stresses with titles including The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding in 1923 and Hercule Poirots Christmas in 1938. But these days, there are acres of festive crime and rags-to-riches romances under the mistletoe to choose from. All tastes are catered for, whether its a love of trains (Edward Marstons Victorian railway detective story A Christmas Railway Mystery), religion (Unlikely Santa: An Amish Christmas Story) or even festive erotica. Ebook retailer Smashwords stocks romance titles including The Old Dragon of the Mountains Christmas, and the inventive-sounding A Cyborgs Old Terran Christmas. (Interstellar bride Nell and her three children are forced to enter space-sleep capsules in the hope of surviving a calamity. She wakes over 700 years later on a ship of cyborg warriors. In this strange environment, Nell cant imagine what their future will hold, but she is determined to keep her promise and make Christmas for her children.)

It may sound futuristic, but it is part of a long tradition beloved by readers. As Christina Storey at Allison & Busby, an independent publisher whose titles this year range from Anna Jacobs Christmas in Peppercorn Street to Rebecca Topes A Cotswold Christmas Mystery, says: Festive books are essentially like reading a warm hug. And in 2020 especially, says Philippa Ashley, author of A Surprise Christmas Wedding, people want to read about other people having a wonderful time, they want to forget their worries and just embrace everything about Christmas.

Ashleys novel follows the Christmas adventures of the heartbroken Lottie, who lands her dream job on a Lake District estate (complete with a handsome groundskeeper). Shes asked to organise a last-minute wedding, only to discover that the groom is the man who broke her heart. Covid-19 is conspicuously absent from the book; Ashley asked her readers if they wanted the novel to reflect 2020, and the answer was a resounding no. They absolutely didnt want to hear any mention of it. Like me, they were grieving for normal life and they wanted this to be their escape, she says. Ive poured all my emotions into this book my yearning for a normal family life and Christmas, and missing my family, is in this book.

Christmas-themed fiction allows the reader to fully immerse their head in the season as well as live it in real life, says Milly Johnson, author of the romance I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day. Its a perfect scenario for cosy crime, it adds extra sparkle to romances, it highlights social pressures in historical sagas Christmas is the gift that keeps on giving us fiction writers.

After a particularly fraught Christmas, Johnson was inspired to write her first festive novel because she realised how so many of us end up having the sort of Christmas other people want rather than what we want ourselves.

My partner had left me for another woman and my heart was in pieces. I felt totally at odds with all the jollity surrounding me and I wrote the first of my three Christmas novels partly as therapy it worked, she says.

Getting suitably festive is not always easy for authors, especially when they arent writing in December. Its the least festive Ive ever felt in my life, Ashley says, of writing A Surprise Christmas Wedding amid the gloom of 2020. Every word was a struggle.

Rachel Wells, author of Alfie the Christmas Cat, found it hard getting into a festive mood when writing in the summer. In order to write the festive instalment of her bestselling series narrated by a cat, Wells watched some Christmas films, whacked on the Christmas tunes and danced around her living room to Michael Bubl and Jingle Bells. I was feeling really unfestive, and my sons got special needs, so he was really struggling. I thought, theres no way Im going to be able to write an uplifting Christmas book. I couldnt get my head in that happy space, she says. Also it was a heatwave, which added to the whole wheres Christmas? vibe. And Carole Matthews, a veteran of festive fiction whose latest novel Christmas for Beginners is just out, puts on a Christmas playlist and rustles up some mince pies before she gets going.

Its not only romance fans who are well-catered for come Christmas: the tradition for murders under the mistletoe stretches back decades: think J Jefferson Farjeons Mystery in White, from 1934; Georgette Heyers A Christmas Party, from 1941; and Mary Kellys The Christmas Egg, published in 1958. The booksellers at independent bookshop Read Holmfirth say theyve seen a real appetite for Christmas crime this year, with Ada Moncrieffs Murder Most Festive and Val McDermids Christmas Is Murder flying off shelves.

Moncrieff, who is also a primary school teacher, was in Madrid when writing Murder Most Festive, which sees one of the guests at a country house party found dead in the snow on Christmas morning in 1938. To get myself in the zone and conjure a 1930s festive drawing room vibe to Madrid, I wrote accompanied only by the season-appropriate refreshments of sherry and honey-roasted cashew nuts, and worked my way through every Agatha Christie and Downton Christmas special I could get my hands on, she says.

While romance readers are drawn to the cosiness of Christmas, crime readers, Moncrieff believes, may be dabbling in a little schadenfreude: Once all the trimmings and presents and family bickerings have been seen to, theres something quite satisfying in reading about someone elses Christmas being beset by murder and intrigue. Festive crime makes everyone glad not to have a sleuth snooping around their Christmas tree.

All the authors I spoke to were clear that the Christmas of books is an idealised one. When youre writing a Christmas book, it cannot be too Christmassy. Its like wearing every glittery thing youve got and then some, says Ashley. People want that kind of fantasy Christmas, where theres beautiful crisp snow, not the yellow sludge that stops us going to work, agrees Matthews.

Thats exactly what reviewer Emma Hawkes is after. She has already read 18 Christmas titles this year, and is expecting to make her way through a further 10 this month. For her, they are yet another Christmas tradition, and A Christmas Carol is always part of the mix. They are just cosy. Just perfect wrapped up in a cosy blanket, with a hot chocolate and fire, she says. And in a world of uncertainty, Christmas books always end happily.

Zack Snyder Thinks New Justice League Will Be Rated R, Says New Warner-HBO Max Theatrical Plan Kind Of Throws A Monkey Wrench In The Works – Deadline

Zack Snyders upcoming new cut of Justice Leaguehas changed so much, he believes the four-hour opus will be rated R.

The movie is insane and so epic and is probably rated R thats one thing I think will happen, that it will be an R-rated version, for sure, the filmmaker revealed in an interview with EW. We havent heard from the MPAA, but thats my gut.

How does the PG-13 movie, which is expected to be dropped in episodes next year on HBO Max, get to a R rating?

Per Snyder, Ben Afflecks Batman uses the F-word in one scene, Cyborg speaks his mind, and bad guy Steppenwolf is pretty violent hacking people in half, says Snyder.

The Warner Bros filmmaker was asked about the elephant in the room that being the studios audacious theatrical-HBO Max day-and-date release strategy for their 2021 slate. Coincidentally, Snyder says the studio is looking to release his cut in theaters.

It felt like a pretty bold move and that maybe the implication wasnt 100 percent thought out, he told EW of Waners slate decision. I feel like theres a lot of people panicking during COVID. I hope that, in the end, thats what this was some sort of knee-jerk to COVID and not some sort of greater move to disrupt the theatrical experience. I thought we were kind of already getting very close to the ideal theatrical window where you still had marketing material out there and you hadnt forgotten about the film by the time it came out on DVD or streaming. I thought we were starting to hone in on that sweet spot, but this kind of throws a monkey wrench in the works.

Justice League, which cost $300M, and which Snyder had to step away from during filming due to a family tragedy, wasnt exactly Avengers at the box office, grossing $658M. Joss Whedon took over and allegedly thats when things got rocky on the set, according to Cyborg actor Ray Fisher who called out the director on social media this past summer saying his on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable. Fisher called on WarnerMedia to conduct an investigation of what went down, which they recently concluded, and noted remedial action has been taken.

Warner Bros had no comment in regard to Snyders comments onJustice Leagues possible R-rating and theatrical release. Nothing official just yet.

In Their Greatest Battle, Flash Chose The Teen Titans Over The Justice League – Screen Rant

For twenty years, Wally West was the Justice League's Flash, but when they clashed with the Teen Titans, the former sidekick picked his first team.

One of the highest honors a comic character can have is being part of multiple teams. It's a testament to a character's popularity when a hero like Wolverine is on different teams. For the third Flash, Wally West, joining the Justice League meant honoring his mentor, though sticking around with the Teen Titans was about being with the team that defined him. But when the Justice League tried to kill a former Titan inJLA/Titans: The Technis Imperative, the Flash didn't hesitate in siding with the Teen Titans.

The miniseries from writer Devin Grayson and artist Phil Jimenez sees former Titans being abducted by strange metal pods. Everyone from Starfire, to Nightwing, to DC's most rebooted hero, Donna Troy,is targeted by the alien technology, which warrants an investigation from the Justice League. Chaos erupts across the planet as not only do the Titans go missing, but a supermassive piece of alien technology consumes the moon. The Justice League tries to attack it, but doing so causes natural disasters to break out all across the planet. Eventually, a handful of the captured Titans are able to break free of their pods underneath Titans Island. The heroes look around and quickly realize something is off. Themost adorable shapeshifter,Beast Boy, is the one to point out that every single living Titan has been captured, all except for Cyborg.

Related:The Teen Titans Get A Death Metal Reunion in the Arkham Wastelands

Cyborg had been growing less and less human with each passing year and had finally given up all organic components to fuse with an artificial hive mind known as Technis. Hewas abducting the Titans because a part of him wanted to rebuild his family. While reserve members deal with the natural disasters, the League sends its strongest members to Titans Island. Having put the pieces together, the League alsodeduces that Cyborg is behind everything happening, which becomes a problem when they finally run into the Titans. The League no longer sees Cyborg as a living being, and thus has no problem with killing him. Disgusted, Wally is the first to protest, telling the world's most powerful superheroes that Cyborg is his friend and that he won't let the League kill him.

The resulting fight is one of the best between two superhero groups. Tempest clashes with Aquaman, Captain Marvel Jr. tackles Superman, and Wally runs circles around Kyle Raynor. Of course, the teams end up working things out after the Titans appeal to the few remaining bits of humanity left in Cyborg. Using technology left to him by an old ally, Cyborg forms a liquid metal body and embraces his friends. With the crisis averted, the two teams reconcile and end up sharing drinks at Guy Gardner's bar.

Reading the comic twenty years later is a breath of fresh air.Marvel's poorly received Civil Warsdon't feel as justified as this does. The League might initially seem callous in their decision to kill Cyborg, but their perspective makes sense. Cyborg was little more than a computer program at the time, one that could accidentally lead to the death of millions. But the Titans' position also makes sense. They know their friend is still there underneath all the technology, and even if there's a slim chance of saving him, they'll take it.

Jackie Chan, 66

One of the world's most beloved martial arts heroes is alive and, well, kicking -- coronavirus pandemic be damned.

As the virus spread early this year, reports said the Hong Kong born star who has appeared in more than 100 films was under quarantine after catching the virus.

Worried fans sent him face masks. Chan took to Facebook to say he was virus free -- "I'm very healthy and safe" -- and would donate the face coverings to people who actually needed them.

Chan's latest film, a Chinese action adventure flick entitled Vanguard, was supposed to come out in January of this year, but this was delayed until September because of the pandemic. In this movie Chan plays a UK-based accountant forced to finance the work of a terror organization.

Gal Gadots experience with Joss Whedon wasnt the best – Winter is Coming

Wonder Woman 1984, the long-in-coming sequel to 2017sWonder Woman, is coming out on Christmas Dayin both theaters and on HBO Max. Its the first of several movies Warner Bros. will be releasing this way, which has made more than a few directors very angry.

But Gal Gadot, who playsWonder Woman, thinks that this is the right move for her movie, at least. Before the pandemic, I wouldve flipped out and had a tantrum and fought super hard [for a traditional theatrical release], she told the Los Angeles Times. But in pandemic times, you just dont know. I hope that, once the pandemic is over, all these wonderful big movies with great filmmakers and stars will go to theaters. I cant see studios making tentpole movies just for the streamers because its a 360 experience to go to a theater and experience that. I certainly hope that, once the pandemic is over, things will go back on track.

Director Patty Jenkins basically agreed. Of course we made the movie to be seen on the big screen we shot on film for IMAX and had Hans Zimmer scoring the entire film. Of course this movie should be in theaters, and it will be. But the fact that its going to be on HBO Max domestically just means that more people are going to be able to watch it in America. And nowadays, Im really in a place where I just want people to see what we did.

In this case, Im just happy that were releasing the film. I felt pretty good about releasing it this way because weve learned that its very hard to predict the future, and there were no good options. But Im disappointed that [Warner Bros. is] not waiting and seeing what happens for the other films that theyre doing it with. In our case, we are the most overdue movie, so I really think now was the time to release our film. This was a special case.

So Jenkins adds her voice to that of Christopher Nolan,Denis Villeneuve, Zack Snyder and others who disapprove of what Warner Bros., although her rhetoric isnt as rabid as, say, Nolan, who really went to town on the studio.

And thats just one of the movie-related controversies that cropped up at Warner Bros. in 2020. Theres alsoJustice Leaguecast member Ray Fisher (Cyborg) accusing replacement director Joss Whedon ofgross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable behavior on set. Up until now, Gadot hadnt weighed in on that, but she finally broke her silence:

I wasnt there with the guys when they shot with Joss Whedon I had my own experience with [him], which wasnt the best one, but I took care of it there and when it happened. I took it to the higher-ups and they took care of it. But Im happy for Ray to go up and say his truth.

For the record, Whedon hasleft his HBO showThe Nevers, citing exhaustion. But plenty of people (including Fisher) suspect that his exit was part of the remedial action Warner Bros. took as a result of their investigation into his conduct. We dont know the details, and time will tell if we learn more of if this scandal is left behind in the accursed year of 2020.

Never too old: Five ageing action heroes – FRANCE 24

Issued on: 15/12/2020 - 22:06

Paris (AFP)

While other men of his age are eyeing up stair lifts, Harrison Ford is dusting down his bull whip to play all-action hero Indiana Jones one more time at 78.

He is not the only superannuated male Hollywood star to be pushing the age envelope -- and audiences' ability to suspend their disbelief.

- Clint Eastwood, 90 -

Hollywood may be in strict lockdown but it hasn't stopped Eastwood directing "Cry Macho", where he stars as a tough, washed-up old rodeo rider taking a dysfunctional family by the scruff of the neck.

Nor was there was anything lily-livered about the octogenarian drugs smuggler working for a Mexican cartel he played in his last movie, "The Mule" (2018).

The tough-talking former mayor of Carmel was pushing 80 when he made short work of gang members in "Gran Torino" in 2008 -- "Make my day, punk."

- Sylvester Stallone, 74 -

A mere stripling at 74, Stallone is rumoured to be limbering up to reprise his role as a mercenary leader in "The Expendables 4".

The action franchise he created has been a boon for Hollywood retirement homes, giving Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme a late ironic glow to their careers.

Sly is soon to play a hired gun in "Little America" -- set at a time when "China owns America" -- and a supervillain in the cartoonishly ultra-violent "The Suicide Squad".

Last year's "Rambo: Last Blood" saw him go into combat yet again as the monosyllabic Vietnam vet, though whether Rambo can retire gracefully remains to be seen.

- Arnold Schwarzenegger, 73 -

He may be trying to save the planet in his day job as crusading environmental campaigner and politician, but Arnie can't quite tear himself away from his swords and cyborgs past.

The Austrian returned in "Terminator: Dark Fate" last year and may be about to don his loincloth once again in the forthcoming epic, "The Legend of Conan".

Not even three heart operations in four years -- the last in October -- can stop him. "I'm back," he quipped after his 2018 surgery, the catchphrase of his "Terminator" cyborg killer.

- Danny Trejo, 76 -

The "Machete" star with the toughest face in Tinseltown and the grittiest backstory to go with it, is making up for all those lost years in prison with a plethora of upcoming action roles including in "Machete Kills in Space".

Trejo, a former boxer, was a bit-player until he broke through thanks to his cousin Robert Rodriguez who directed him in "Desperado" in 1995, with roles in "Heat" and "Con Air" soon following.

Look out soon for him in "Renegades", "The Prey", "Death Rider in the House of Vampires" and "Zombie Bride".

Ray Fisher Joins Women Of The Movement ABC Limited Series – Yahoo Entertainment

EXCLUSIVE: Ray Fisher is set co-star in ABCs limited series Women of the Movement, from creator-writer Marissa Jo Cerar and a producing team that includes Jay-Z, Will Smith and Aaron Kaplan.

The six-episode series, set to premiere in 2021, centers on Mamie Till-Mobley (Adrienne Warren), who devoted her life to seeking justice for her son Emmett Till (Cedric Joe), following his brutal killing in the Jim Crow South.

Fisher will play Gene Mobley, the man who would have been Emmett Tills stepfather, if not for his murder. A devoted partner to Emmetts mother, Mamie, Gene was considered the love of her life. They later married.

Gina Prince-Bythewood is set to direct the first episode of the limited series, which is assembling a team of directors who are all women of color.

It is an honor to be joining Women of the Movements powerful portrayal of Mamie Till-Mobleys journey, Fisher said. To be in service of her story with so many talented women of color at the helm is truly a privilege. Mrs. Till-Mobleys actions inspired the fight for fundamental change in our country, and her legacy will continue to serve as a much-needed reminder that a single person can indeed change the world.

Glynn Turman and Niecy Nash also star.

Women of the Movement is inspired by the book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement by Devery S. Anderson. Cerar serves as showrunner and executive produces with Jay-Z, Jay Brown and Tyran Ty Ty Smith via Roc Nation; Will Smith and James Lassiter for Overbrook; as well as Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Michael Lohmann of Kapital Entertainment. Also executive producing are Prince-Bythewood, Rosanna Grace for Serendipity Film Group; Alex Foster and John Powers Middleton of Middleton Media Group; and David Clark via Mazo Partners. Kapital Entertainment is the studio.

Fisher is best known for his role as Victor Stone/Cyborg in Warner Brothers DC Cinematic Universe. Cyborg is first introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and was last seen in Justice League. Fisher this past summer spoke up about alleged misconduct on the set of Justice League by replacement director Joss Whedon and others. It led to an Warner Bros. investigation, which resulted in remedial action.

Story continues

In TV, Fisher co-starred in the third installment of HBOs anthology series True Detective opposite Mahershala Ali. On stage, Fisher is known for his portrayal of Muhammed Ali in the Off-Broadway production, Fetch Clay, Make Man from Tony-winning director, Des McAnuff. Fisher is repped by Paradigm and Management 360.

Bendis, Marquez to take over with JUSTICE LEAGUE #59 – The Beat – Comics Beat

WriterBrian Michael Bendis andartistDavid Marquezappear to be the creative team forJustice League #59, joined as they will be by coloristTamra Bonvillain, who announced the teaming Wednesday on social media.

This announcement felt like the third act in day hinting that Bendis was moving onto something new with DC Comics. Act One came earlier in the day whenPhillip Kennedy Johnsonwas announced as Bendis successor on both monthly Superman comics Superman andAction Comics. After that, Bendis dropped a shadowy teaser image that looked an awful lot like a new Justice League team on his Instagram, with the cryptic caption, Wow! Whaaat? Stay tuned Finally, Bonvillain made the announcement on Twitter.

The book is presumably soon to be officially announced by DC Comics, which has been rolling out a slate of new comics announcements this week in the leadup to its March solicitations for retailers being published Friday. A majority of these announcements have seen creators from the two-monthFuture Stateset of comics continuing on with properties. Others thinking of Batman here will pick up with the same creative team they have now. While still others The JokerandThe Crime Syndicate are brand new. There are also some pretty cool new anthology books on the way.

Justice League, however, sees an entirely new creative team taking over a marquee DC Comics property, and its a creative team that has much experience together. Bendis and Marquez have previously collaborated on a number of high profile books at Marvel Comics, from the late 2015Invincible Iron Manrelaunch to the event storyCivil War IIto the street-level Netflix series-mirroring comic,The Defenders, their last work before Bendis jumped to DC in early 2018.

Marquez seemingly followed Bendis to DC, drawing a number of covers as well as the first arc of theBatman / Supermanteam-up comic, which tied intoYear of the Villain, and was written byJoshua Williamson.Justice League will be Bendis and Marquezs first team-up at DC.

The teaser image that was released looks a bit shadowy, and I happen to think that is deliberate bit of misdirection, which will eventually unveil a number of familiar looking characters Wonder Woman, Superman, and maybe even Batman to be the new or altered versions of themselves introduced during Future State.

Even if thats not the case, this lineup which seems to include Green Arrow, Black Canary, and maybe even Black Adam looks to be the most substantial shakeup of DCs flagship superhero team in something like 25 years (give or take Cyborg here and Martian Manhunter there).

Its all very exciting. Check out the teaser image below

Katie Taylor has her say on Conor McGregor vs. Manny Pacquiao – Pundit Arena

Katie Taylor believes Conor McGregor would struggle in a boxing ring against Manny Pacquiao.

The Notorious Conor McGregor is set to return to UFC action next month in a rematch with Dustin Poirier, but the 32-year-old MMA stars manager Audie Attar recently claimed that McGregor and Pacquiao would meet later in 2021.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion has already faced off against boxing great Floyd Mayweather and lost, and Taylor believes the fight against Pac Man could likely have a similar outcome.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Taylor stressed that beating a boxer of Pacquiaos calibre would be a challenge but if any mixed martial artist could manage it, its McGregor.

Its hard to look past the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Taylor said.

Im obviously a huge McGregor fan, hes been a huge supporter of me, but its very hard to see past the boxers in those situations.

The likes of Manny Pacquiao andFloyd Mayweatherare the two best boxers of our generation.

But if anyone can do it, I guess Conor McGregor can. Hes got the best mindset and a great mentality. He has such a winning mindset.

Elsewhere, there has been talk that Taylor could welcome former UFC featherweight champ Cris Cyborg to the ring next year as part of a crossover bout. The Bray native is confident of her ability to get the better of the Brazilian fighter, however.

I think Cyborg is the bigger fighter in that situation, Taylor said.

Shes probably regarded as a stronger fighter against me so that obviously favours her, but regardless of who Im stepping into the ring with Im always going to favour myself.

Every time I step into the ring, I expect to come out as the winner, so thats not going to change against Cyborg.

Review: RAI #10 A Conclusion Leads To A Haunting New Beginning – Monkeys Fighting Robots

Rai #10, out December 16th, concludes this chapter of Dan Abnetts science-fiction saga in the Valiant Universe. Art duties on this issue are split between Juan Jos Ryp and Beni Lobel, while Andrew Dalhouse and Dave Sharpe retain their respective coloring and lettering roles.

Within Rai #10 is a lot of anticipation both for whats in the story and whats to come afterwards. The opening pages call back to a conflict that stirs issues past, a conflict with technology and indifference. One of Rai and Raijins inner conflicts comes from how they want to live like humans, but they cant deny that theyre part of their creators hold on the world. That same creator is a threat so severe that Lula has to abort her task on helping Bloodshot. But both conflicts come together near the end that will undoubtedly have the reader question the morality of the situation. Can beings of technology like Bloodshot and the cyborg brothers really live alongside organics? Or will they only destroy the memory of people like Rais companion Alice? Abnett leaves these questions in the air for the reader as the issue announces Rais return.

Ryp illustrates most of Rai #10, giving the action scenes a lot weight to movements. The use of afterimages displays Rais speed and strength above the average positronic android. Its why the fight with Fusion is so notable, as every one of their movements can be followed by their body language. Theres no artistic licensing, just movements that the reader can follow to find the impact. Given the speed that Rai can go at, it makes the impact blows all the more impressive.

Then theres Lobel, whose simpler art style contrasts with Ryps ultra definition. The two pages of Lobels art makes the fight from before lose half of its impact. Unlike before when each move looks telegraphed to give weight, the blows in these pages substantiate on speed lines on the borders; its almost like Rai and Fusion are rushing rather than fighting. Fortunately, the coloring by Dalhouse makes up for this by retaining the definition throughout. In Ryps fight scene, a splash of red heightens the impact of a kick by highlighting the speed its traveling. Then, in Lobels scene, the wrinkles of a coat are visible without lining and a glimmer of light of a sword. Its that kind of consistency in color that allows readers to follow through despite Rai #10s sudden shift in artwork.

Sharpes lettering gives impact in every page and panel in Rai #10. Making use of his stock wordmark images, the little changes make each action feel unique. Even the grunts in Rai and Fusions fight leads to the intensity of their battle. All of this leads to one wordmark that looks in dedication to a splash page marking the end of their fight. Sharpe also takes the opportunity to give characters a distinctive voice through fonts and word balloon coloring. Fusions classic font implies an older dialect, while Bloodfathers red outlined word balloons gives off his fierce and commanding voice. Each word and little noise feels authentic and gives every moment twice as much impact.

After such a climatic battle and major developments, readers have to wonder whats next. Everyone involved in Rai #10 puts so much work and dedication to their craft, it feels shameful to leave things on a cliffhanger. Only time will tell what the next saga of the Valiant Universes future will display. But until then readers will be pleased with this chapter opening new possibilities.
