Now that the cat is out of the bag and Ronda Rousey has been publicly confirmed as signing with the UFC, the questions begin to swirl around who and when she will make her Octagon debut.
At this point in time, there is no answer to either of those questions.
At this point in time, Ronda Rousey is the sole female fighter in the UFC.
One thing UFC president Dana White who confirmed Rouseys signing on Friday is fairly sure of is who Rousey is not likely to fight in her Octagon debut Cris Cyborg.
Its become abundantly clear to me that Cyborg does not want to fight her, said White in an interview with Fuel TV following Fridays UFC 154 weigh-ins in Montreal.
That he isnt likely able to put that fight together hasnt deterred White from taking a chance on womens MMA, something that just a couple years ago, he didnt think was ever likely to happen.
White always believed that the womens divisions just werent deep enough with top talent to forge individual weight classes in the UFC. Hes changed his mind, to a degree, but it appears that this is still very much a work in progress.
He seems to think there is enough talent in Rouseys 135-pound class to see if it is sustainable, but White isnt sure beyond the next couple of years.
I think the 135-pound division that Ronda is in and is the champion of, theres four or five good fights for her over the next year, year and a half, remarked White.
I think youll see a lot more women coming up through that 135-pound division or they wont. Its deep enough to get through a couple years and then well see what happens.

So, now that its official and Ronda Rousey is signed with the UFC, womens MMA (WMMA) looks to be on the threshold of breaking out in a way many of us never thought possible.
While Rousey alone cannot take credit for all the efforts and success WMMA has enjoyed since they made their entrance into the sport, she is certainly the main reason why Dana White reversed his long standing position on women in the octagon.
White has been blown away by Rousey and thanks to that, she and Miesha Tate are now in the UFC fold.
But the signing alone isnt worth a hill of beans if there arent any compelling fights to be had for the ladies.
White sounds passionate about a womens 135-pound division, so there is a lot of work to be done if he wants to acquire enough talent to make such a division, and that means taking some chances on fresh faces that may or may not have what it takes.
But amid all of this, there is one central fight that looms above it all, and thankfully it is centered around his new favorite star. The fight is Ronda Rousey vs. Cris Cyborg.
People can shout all they want about how Cyborg is just a cheater and how shes always been a cheater (much of this based on her power and her looks), and that will likely continue until the day Cyborg retires.
But none of that talk diminishes the simple fact that Cyborg is the only real legitimate threat to Rouseys kingdom.
Thus far, Cyborg is in a sport that allows for second chances, and third chances, and so on and so forth. Shes paying the price for her failed drug test, and once she is cleared by the commission, White should be all about the business of making the fight that matters the most for WMMA, even if many think it matters the most for all the wrong reasons.

MONTREAL -- With Cris Cyborg's steroid suspension set to expire in December, and the UFC set to bring women's MMA into its octagon shortly thereafter, these should be happy days for Cyborg. But instead, she's faced with a major decision about her career based upon Dana's White empathic proclamation on her place in the UFC.
The thing is, she might not have one.
White made it clear on Saturday night that he is only bringing in one weight division to the UFC: the 135-pound division. And with Cyborg's continued insistence that she cannot cut below 145, well, that could leave her with no place to go.
White confirmed that there would be no place in the UFC for Cyborg unless she hits 135.
"Right," he said when asked if that was indeed the case. "I'm bringing in the 135-pound division. That's what I'm doing."
Ronda Rousey has already been named the division's champion, with her Strikeforce belt being traded in for a shiny new UFC belt. Cyborg was the Strikeforce 145-pound champ but was stripped of the gold after testing positive for stanozolol following her Dec. 17, 2011 match with Hiroko Yamanaka.
That division holds little interest for White and his matchmakers, who see most of the women's talent at 135 and below. And because of it, he warned Cyborg that she'd have to come down to Rousey's weight class or be out of a job.
"I havent [talked to her] but our matchmakers have talked to her camp and she doesnt seem too excited to fight Ronda," he said. "Were bringing in the 135-pound division, thats what were doing. Im trying this womens thing out. Rondas the champ. I think that Ronda has the potential to be a big star. Shes already getting media weve never even gotten before and shes never even set foot in the UFC. Thats the division were bringing in, the 135-pound division, so I dont know. Well see."
