Person of Interest Season 2 Report Card: A-

With HR rebuilding, a mysterious organization revealed, a new female super spy added to the team, and Root still trying to find the Machine, it's a wonder that Reese, Finch, Carter and Fusco find any time to kick back and relax.

And now with the Machine unleashed, it looks like their work is only just beginning.

So how did the sophomore season fare? Read on to find out what we thought of Person of Interest Season 2 in this TV Fanatic Report Card...

Overwhelmed By the Suspects

Best episode: This was hard to pick because there were so many solid episodes this season including the last two, "Zero Day" and "God Mode." Even the controversial yet unique introduction of Sam Shaw was a favorite of mine. But I'm going to pick the hotel centric "Booked Solid." Maybe I just liked seeing Zoe Morgan return, but this episode seemed to have it all including action, humor, and a little flirting between Reese and Zoe. And while the episode was pure entertaining fun, the larger story revealed a major twist: Root was infiltrating the big wigs at Washington.

Worst episode: It's unfortunate, but Kara's return felt far too quick and dropped in "Dead Reckoning." Not only did it seem pointless to have Reese and Snow do her work (she most of the time just did it all anyway), but she felt like a silly villain complete with "bad guy" dialogue. I was hoping to see more from her, especially with regards to Reese, but we never really got into her character besides the fact she was working for a new mysterious group connected to the machine. Now her actions on releasing the virus set up what was a great final outcome, but ultimately, the episode left much to be desired. RIP Kara.

Best character: In a lot of ways, Person of Interest Season 1 was heavily focused on Reese (who continues to show how much of a cool character he is), yet season 2 allowed viewers to really zero in on Finch. I'm going to give him best character because we saw so many facets from his early days of ignoring the "irrelevant numbers," his loving side with Grace, his friendship with Nathan Ingram and Reese, and his determination to do good even when the chips were down. It's great to see his character grow and there is clearly so much more to learn.

Worst character: I'm digging deep for this one because the core cast and a majority of the recurring characters are fantastic, but worst character has to be Detective Raymond Terney. He just came across as too obvious and cliche of a bad guy especially when going after Carter. He wasn't in a ton of scenes so it never felt like an overuse, but there wasn't near as much depth to his character as other ones we've gotten to see for only one episode. Good thing Carter got the best of him.

Best recurring character: While I'm on board with Sam Shaw and curious what they plan to do with her character, and Leon never fails to crack me up with his outrageous situations and humor, I've got to give it to Root. There's something about the way Amy Acker allows Root to be brilliantly genius and homicidal maniac at the same time. Add that to the fact that she finds a certain connection to Finch and a determination to the Machine, she's a compelling character to watch on screen. I wonder what her getting that last phone call on the finale means?

Hopes for Season 3: With another solid season in the books, I hope the show keeps it going and further expands on the characters and the universe this show has created. I got a sense from speaking with EPs Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman that they've got concepts mapped out for further seasons which makes it great to watch a real story unfold. I definitely want to learn some more about Reese, hopefully see Finch reunite with Grace, Bear get in some more action, and another season that combines the larger and smaller stories so succinctly that the humor, drama, and everything in between makes for a continuation of one of TV's top shows.

TV Fanatic Round Table: Best Season Finale

The 2012-2013 television season is behind us.

And while the TV Fanatic staff is looking forward to a number of summer shows, we're also taking a few moments to look back, answering one simple question below: What was the best finale of the past season?

Scroll down for a number of responses and then vote on your own...

TVF RT Logo, Take 2

Miranda Wicker: This isn't even a question: Scandal. There was resolution. There was a setup for season 3. There was one hell of a shocking revelation and cliffhanger. Hands down, that was how to end a season.

Jim Garner: Nashville. Honestly, I spent the better part of that episode in tears for one reason or another. So powerful!

Chandel Charles: Scandal and Revenge were both doozies for me. So they definitely top my list for non-cable drama season finales.

Leigh Raines: My obvious choice is Scandal. That white fedora and the end reveal… sigh. What will i do without my gladiators all summer? Honorable mention The Vampire Diaries: really brought it back for the final episode.

Lisa Palmer: The Americans. Another great setup for a second season and the best use of a song in its final moments: Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers."

Carla Day: Arrow's finale was flawless. It was action-packed from start to finish with the race to save the city. The thriller aspect of the show and the finale provided the framework for the real heart of the series. The personal interactions, choices, and sacrifices were the driving emotional force that pulled at heart strings from the start to finish. It was never predictable and that means that the good guys don't always win.

Carissa Pavlica: Arrow, for going completely against what the audience would expect of a comic book setup by killing the hero's best friend and not falling for his father's rhetoric, saving the girl despite her devotion to said friend and losing his own life in the process. They essentially turned the formula on its head and made it work beautifully. Sad for viewers, brilliant for the show.

Lisa Palmer: The Good Wife. It completely reset a series that was in danger of growing stale. Now I can't wait for the next season!

Nick McHatton: Grimm! It's a complete game change for the show and I don't know if I can wait for the season premiere in the fall.

Kate Brooks: Elementary featured the Irene Adler/Moriarty jaw dropping reveal. Epic.

Arrested Development Exclusive: Jessica Walter on The Return Of Lucille Bluth, Her Long Career and More

Interviewing an acting legend – especially one working on new Arrested Development episodes, as as well as fan favorite Archer – isn’t a bad way to spend an afternoon.

On Season 4 of the beloved, resurrected sitcom (all 15 are available this Sunday on Netflix), Jessica Walter is back as boozy matriarch Lucille Bluth and, well... the time away hasn’t made Lucille a better mother. But that’s the way we like it.

I sat down with Walter recently and not only got her approval on the name of this site, but also talked about what’s new with Lucille while taking a walk down memory lane with her career highlights...

Jessica Walter Promo Pic

Jessica Walter: Jim, what are you writing for?
TV Fanatic: This is TVFanatic.com.
JW: Oooh. I love that. TV Fanatic.

TVF: My first question is actually about how we watch TV. How do you watch TV? What’s your preferred way to watch your favorite shows?
JW: Until I got Netflix, which I got because of Arrested Development, I started with House of Cards and I got hooked and I binge-watched the whole thing. The first night was one hour. Then the second night was two, then three. I had withdrawal when it was over. I really, really did. I had withdrawal so I think it’s the wave of the future, obviously. And no commercials. You can really get involved because you have no commercials.

TVF: Where do we find Lucille in these new episodes?
JW: Where do we find her? You saw the ankle bracelet in the poster. She’s under surveillance. She has one ankle bracelet in the foreseeable future and a lot of trouble there. That I can say. You know we’ll get killed if we give away anything.

TVF: Will we find out what happened in those years in between?
JW: Oh, yes. Oh, definitely.

TVF: Were you surprised at all when you actually saw what Mitch had dreamt up for the new episodes?
JW: Yeah. I was totally and I even know secrets that no one knows that he told me if there’s ever a movie. Major secrets that I would totally be shot if I ever gave away. Seriously. That you can’t believe. How’s that for a teaser? It’s very juicy.

TVF: Talk to me about working with Tony Hale. The clip of you smoking and him taking the smoke from you (below)... hilarious stuff.
JW: He’s so wonderful and all of his mumbling, whatever he was doing there. I was so involved until I saw the clip, I didn’t realize he was even mumbling because I was so into my magazine. You know, you just do it until they yell cut. The thing is that they never did yell cut for such a long time that I had to take another cigarette because I was down to the nub. You know what I mean? So I took another cig and that’s when he fell over the couch and almost died. It was great fun.

TVF: Do you actually feel maternal towards anybody in the cast?
JW: I do. I feel maternal towards Portia and Tony especially.

TVF: Why is that? Because they play your kids on the show?
JW: I don’t know. I guess because I love her so much. She’s such a good person and Tony is so endearing and our relationship, I guess, spills over from the show to real life. I love everybody, but maternally, those two.

TVF: I know the new scripts are very intricate so is it safe to say the script was pretty tight or could you guys be a little loose when you were shooting?
JW: Yeah, you know actually, certain people were looser than others. I like to stick to a script more than most people so I tried to. Let’s put it that way. Because when you have that kind of writing, you know, you don’t need to add anything.

TVF: Lucille’s somebody we love watching on TV but would you ever want to be friends with her? Do you think you could be friends with her?
JW: That’s a great question. Yeah. I think I could. I think I could get beyond her cover because it’s all a cover with the way she behaves because inside she’s so insecure.

TVF: Would you trust her, though?
JW: No. I would not trust her. I don’t trust most people though so that’s just me.

TVF: Kristen Wiig plays the young Lucille and I could see the Lucille-esque mannerisms in her performance. Did you have any hand in that or is that all her?
JW: I wish I could say that I did. I have never met her. I was blown away that she wanted to do the part and she obviously studied it because she was great. She really was.

TVF: She was doing these eye things even when caked in mud.
JW: I know. Amazing. Lucky me to have her.

TVF: Without talking about plot, is there anybody in the cast that you wish you had been able to do more with in this season or did you get a chance to work with everybody?
JW: I did work with everybody, but mostly I worked with Portia and Tony. I think I would have loved to have worked more with Will. I love Will. The kids (Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat) and Will, I didn’t get to work with a lot and I wish I could have.

TVF: You’re known for so many things in your career. What do you hear from the most from people? This show? Play Misty for Me (the 1971 film with Clint Eastwood where Walter played his mentally unstable stalker)?
JW: You know, I still hear about Play Misty. Go figure. That one is so old. This show, of course.

TVF: I remember Amy Prentiss (Walter’s 1974 series, for which she won an Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy).
JW: Oh my God, Amy Prentiss. That was a great show. It didn’t last long, but most of them don’t.

TVF: Is there anything left on your bucket list since you’ve done a little of everything?
JW: You know, I did a musical two years ago on Broadway, Anything Goes and I’d love to do another one. I love New York. I live there. I’d love to do a straight Broadway play, which is a lot easier than a musical. I’d love to do another play in New York.

Arrested Development returns Sunday at midnight PST on Netflix. TV Fanatic will be reviewing all new episodes throughout next week.

True Blood Teaser: Greetings, Governor Burrell

True Blood Season 6 will feature a number of new characters.

But none will play a more significant role than Arliss Howard's Governor Burrell.

As you can see in the following new promo, this head of state will be dead serious about doing away with members of the undead this summer, urging Louisiana residents in a speech to buy guns... stock up on wooden bullets... shut down all vampire-owned businesses and generally take their country back.

The concluding message on the trailer, which HBO has teased through its True Blood campaign? No one lives forever. Gulp.

True Blood Season 6 kicks off June 16 on HBO.

Report: Jennifer Hudson Confirmed as American Idol Judge

According to E! News, the American Idol makeover has begun: Jennifer Hudson is in as a Season 13 judge.

The addition of the Season 3 finalist and 2006 Oscar winner - last seen on Smash Season 2 (below) - is merely the first step in what many outlets are reporting will be a new judging panel, one comprised entirely of Idol alums.

Jennifer Hudson on Smash

E! also says Kelly Clarkson is very close to a deal and the third spot will fall to either Clay Aiken or Adam Lambert.

In light of Season 12's dismal ratings, it certainly makes sense that producers would shake things up. But is a return of past favorites the answer?

What do you think? Is Jennifer Hudson a good choice as American Idol judge?
