Ft. Lauderdale, FL, May 7, 2013 - Shoreline Aerospace, a global provider of supplies and MRO support services for commercial and military jets, announced today that it will be moving its expanding business to a strategic airside location at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Along with office space, the new facility includes a 60,000 square foot warehouse and a 6-acre apron with ramp access. The new location will enable Shoreline Aerospace togreatly increase its inventory support and continue building its MRO services to accommodate South Floridas most active airport.

Aerospace analysts eager for confirmation of June Bombardier CSeries test flight

MONTREAL - Aerospace industry observers are eagerly watching for confirmation this week that Bombardier's CSeries aircraft will make its maiden test flight next month.

Amid expectations of a weak first-quarter, analysts see the plane's progress as a potential catalyst to turn around the transportation giant's lagging share price.

Kevin Chiang of CIBC World Markets says "all eyes are turned towards the CSeries first flight" by the end of June and signals that it will avoid delays that gripped Boeing's 787 aircraft.

"If Bombardier fails to meet this milestone, then questions about whether the CSeries will follow in the footsteps of the Dreamliner will only get louder," he wrote in a report.

"In other words, the success of first flight will be used as a barometer to gauge the ability for Bombardier to execute on its CSeries program."

The first flight has been already delayed about six months from initial forecasts.

Analysts describe it as the "first domino" needed to achieve Bombardier's long-term targets of generating US$5 billion to US$8 billion of additional revenues in five years.

Joseph Nadol of JP Morgan said the CSeries remains a key issue but he isn't expecting any change from the June target date.

Turan Quettawala of Scotiabank also believes the CS100 will likely fly this summer, which will reduce the risk for the company and could lead to some orders.

He said the first-quarter has been weak for orders for both the company's aerospace and transportation divisions.

Rolls-Royce aerospace boss leaves after only four months

Topics: aircraft, bribary, investigation, mark king, rolls-royce, serious fraud office

ROLLS-ROYCE has been rocked by the resignation of its aerospace boss today, in the midst of an investigation into bribery allegations in Indonesia and China.

The departure of Mark King, who was only made president of the engine maker's aerospace division in January, comes as former McKinsey man Ian Davis became chairman of Rolls-Royce today at its annual general meeting.

A leading aerospace analyst said that King had been considered the "rising star" of Rolls-Royce's leadership team and did not accept the company's official, but non-specific, claim that he had left for "personal reasons".

The Serious Fraud Office has an ongoing probe into allegations that Rolls-Royce representatives paid bribes so as to win lucrative aerospace engine contracts in Asia.

King, who joined the company in 1986, was president of the civil aerospace division until taking on the entirety of the aerospace business at the start of the year.

The analyst added that the move might also help to "consolidate the position" of Rolls-Royce chief executive John Rishton, who succeeded long-term boss Sir John Rose in 2011. He also pointed out that Rolls-Royce has lost several decades-worth of experience recently, as the finance director of nine years, Andrew Shilston, also left at the end of 2011.

The news was released as part of Rolls-Royce's statement on trading for the first three months of the year. The company said that it expected "modest growth" in its key revenue and profit numbers over the course of the whole year.

Rolls-Royce handed over the findings of its own inquiry into the scandal in Asia to the SFO earlier this year. There have been reports that the SFO is considering settling with Rolls-Royce through a civil recovery order, under which no criminal charges would be made.

As a non-executive director at BP, Davis helped the oil giant restore its finances and reputation in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rolls-Royce aerospace head quits as bribery fears mount

Britain's biggest manufacturer is at the centre of a potentially explosive corruption scandal.

Last September, Mark King, the head of civil aerospace at Rolls-Royce , was hosting some very special guests at the jet engine maker's new state-of-the-art facility in Singapore.

King was showing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (SES: E1:J91U.SI - news) around the giant Seletar campus, which makes Trent (BSE: TRENT.BO - news) engines for the Airbus A380 and the new Boeing (NYSE: BA - news) 787 Dreamliner.

The Duchess was invited to fit the last blade to a Trent 900 engine and turned to King and the Duke with a smile and "fist pump" when she succeeded.

"Here is cutting-edge aerospace technology developed by one of the United Kingdom's great global companies," the Duke said in a speech to the company.

King replied: "We are proud and delighted to welcome their Royal Highnesses to Rolls-Royce as we celebrate two important milestones today: the completion of our first batch of wide-chord fan blades and the completion of the first Trent aero engine assembled and tested in Singapore."

The visit obviously went well for Rolls, because four months later King, who had been running the civil aerospace business since August 2007, was promoted to the expanded role of president of aerospace.

This job combined Rolls' civil aerospace and defence aerospace businesses, meaning that King was responsible for three-quarters of the revenues and profits of Rolls, one of Britain's biggest companies. However, on Thursday, Rolls-Royce shocked the City when as part of its trading update it dedicated one terse line to the fact that King will leave the company.

Rolls said that King, who has worked for the business since 1986, had "decided to resign from the company at the end of June", but gave no reason for his departure.

Given his importance at Rolls and the fact he was promoted only four months ago, analysts were unsettled.

Rolls-Royce aerospace boss to step down

The head of Rolls-Royce's aerospace division, Mark King, has resigned despite only taking up the job in January.

Mr King, who has worked for Rolls since 1986 in a variety of roles, will leave the engine maker in June amid an investigation into allegations of corruption in Indonesia and China.

The Serious Fraud Office is investigating claims that Rolls representatives paid bribes to win aerospace engine contracts in Asia. Rolls has also hired Lord Gold, a Conservative peer, to compile a report on its compliance procedures.

Rolls gave no reason for the departure of Mr King in a stock market statement. He will be replaced by Tony Wood, who is head of the marine business.

Mr King was the head of Rolls' civil aerospace division - which makes engines for airlines around the world - before being promoted to president of entire aerospace business

Alongside the departure of Mr King, Rolls said that trading in the first quarter of its financial year has been "consistent with our expectations".

The FTSE 100 engine maker, which will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday, said: "Since the preliminary 2012 results in February, we have won a $1.6bn order from International Airlines Group for Trent XWB engines, with long-term TotalCare service support, to power 18 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, we have signed multiple contracts to provide and service military transport engines for the US Air Force and US Marine Corp, and we have started construction of the state-of-the-art core manufacturing facility in Derby that will produce reactor cores for the UK's current and future submarines programme."

Rolls-Royce's aerospace boss King to leave

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Rolls-Royce on Thursday announced the shock departure of Mark King, the highly regarded boss of its key aerospace business.

Rolls, the world's second-largest maker of aircraft engines behind U.S. group General Electric , on Thursday said King, the president of its aerospace unit had decided to resign from the company at the end of June and would be replaced by Tony Wood, the president of Rolls' marine unit on May 13.

King joined Rolls in 1986 and was appointed president of its civil aerospace business in August 2007 and then president of aerospace in January 2013 when Rolls' civil and defense businesses were brought together to create one aerospace division.

Jefferies analyst Sandy Morris said King was "a highly regarded member of the management team ... reflected in the perceptions of investors and analysts alike" and that his departure was "not going to pass unremarked".

Morris said he assumed King was leaving Rolls "for personal reasons".

Aerospace accounted for 8.8 billion pounds of the group's 12.2 billion pounds of revenues in 2012.

Late last year Rolls said it could face prosecution after Britain's Serious Fraud Office ordered it to conduct an internal inquiry into possible bribery and corruption by intermediaries in China, Indonesia and other overseas markets.

The FTSE-100 firm has hired lawyer David Gold to lead a review of its compliance procedures after the allegations emerged. Gold started his review in February.

Rolls, a major British exporter which dates back to 1884, said it was on track to report good growth in underlying profit in 2013 after a strong first quarter from its civil aerospace unit. Last month it won a $1.6 billion order from IAG for Trent XWB engines to power 18 of its new Airbus A350 long-haul jets.

The company is expected to report an average 2013 pretax profit of 1.74 billion pounds, according to a Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S poll of 18 analysts.

Research and Markets: Analyzing the Global Aerospace and Defense Industry: 2013 Edition

DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Analyzing the Global Aerospace and Defense Industry" report to their offering.

In many a daily perspective, we consider aerospace and defense to be the epitome of human ingenuity, invention and scientific effort over more than a century. Many a modern day conveniences of civil society have actually been driven by efforts invested by countries, and people into these sectors. There are many considerations that lead countries, organizations and people to observe this industry very closely and participate in its development at the same time. The primary reason is self protection and achievement of overall technical superiority as guided by political aspirations.

The group dynamics in this industry is global and close ended at the same time. On some instances, it may also surpass pure economic considerations. Some may debate that this industry is like a very high admittance only private club with very limited players but the chain network of suppliers, producers and consumers stretches far beyond the general observation. This R'search's report on Analyzing the Global Aerospace and Defense Industry is precisely aimed at bringing an understanding of this wide and vast industry which at times enjoys the distinction of being one of the few recession proof industries.

The report takes an integrated approach towards both the segments of global Aerospace and Defense. This is further extended into building a comprehension of the global map of aerospace and defense participants. A very complex web of relationships exists in this industry and this report would help a decision maker ascertain to a fair degree the overall factors at play.

A mono dimensional understanding will question Bombardier's movement of new structures to Mexico even though movement to China would have brought in 20% more savings. A multi-dimensional understanding will demonstrate the strategic advantage of control to Bombardier by keeping such structures closer to its headquarters in Montreal.

The report also focuses on the achievement of bigger objectives like defense air dominance and the role of United States in this sector. Since the defense industry is directed more by political will and mindset, the export considerations are often tightly bound and limited. This has forced many manufacturers to come up with alternative strategies of survival in global defense industry. The role of other countries also brings a bearing on the cost implications for this sector. This report also outlines the major developments in current defense air dominance programs worldwide.
