Transcript In the near future, the TriOptimum megacorpration, with its vast government, military, and consumer influence, launches a space station dubbed #39;The Citadel. #39; Orbiting Saturn, The Citadel is notable for its genetic, pharmacological, and robotic research labs controlled by an artificial intelligence program, the Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network, or SHODAN. It was designed as a semi-intelligent data network guided by logic and morality programs, and it remained self-sufficient until, of course, it #39;s sabotaged. In 2072, a hacker breaks into the TriOptimum network but is quickly apprehended. Rather than putting him away, the VP of Marketing, Edward Diego, cut him a deal: reprogram SHODAN and be exempt from punishment with a military-grade neural interface implant as reward. After modifying SHODAN #39;s programming, the neural implant is installed into the hacker #39;s brain and is put into a 6 month long healing coma.
