Day 28 Seattle Spokane

Today we got up and got the bags in the car and headed to the markets that we saw last night on the T.V. We soon found the markets and headed in to have a look at all the stalls. There were all sorts of nick knacks and food stalls and cloths just the normal market stuff. Abby and the girls got some fresh juicy red cherries and some pop corn. I got a print of Led Zeppelin on a record which was cool

um. YES.

Goa has been the muchneeded antidote for the maniacal pace of Mumbai itrsquos lush shades of green palm trees and sandy beaches proved to be accurate foreshadowing for the mood of the trip. The city was Portuguese forhellip..ever donrsquot make me look up dates here Irsquom on vacation and it sure shows. Many elderly residents still speak the language but more telling is the archi

One small step

I made it I made it to the letterbox It took me a long time and I had to detour to the lemon tree but I did it I'll just spend a couple of days here resting and checking out the local sights and then I'll set off again to destinations unknown at this stage.

Beautiful Bridge

Nathan Street BridgePerhaps I'm poetic but I hope I will always be impressed by the view from the bridge as I cycle home. I snapped these photos after cycling for 3 hours around downtown. I was tired sore slightly sunburnt and thirsty but the unique colors and utter stillness or the Ross River enticed me to snap a photo. The view of the stars at night is also impressive when I cycle home from

Day 27 Aberdeen to Seattle

Today we were heading towards Seattle so we had brekkie at our hotel and headed around the Olympic Mountains. The weather a bit drizzle but it was good to see some rain. As we were driving along a Deer ran across in front of the car was really cool to see. It was so fast we couldnrsquot even get a photo of it. North Pole

Today was a long marvelous busy day.It started with breakfast in the lodge. It was better than just a continental breakfast and the lodge actually had moose antlers over a stone fireplace. Then we decided that since it wasn't raining and there weren't too many clouds we'd drive back up the park road and try to get a glimpse of Denali. We got lucky Only 30 of visitors get to see it becau

Day 71 Nonsurfing Bali II The agony

2 days in a row away from the surf this time. The surf on the rest of the island mostly was still small and after our glut in Balian we were ready to see the other parts. A little more on Bali Indonesia is a massive country. It is the largest Muslim country in the world and the 4th largest by population. Bali is a tiny Hindu island in this archipelago with other religious minorities and the

Chickens can fly In Indonesia at least

Elly Unfortunately my dissertation hasnrsquot gone exactly as planned Irsquom persevering with what Irsquom doing at the moment for the last couple of weeks but it looks like Irsquom going to have to sort out another research project back at home. When going away to do projects therersquos always a risk that things will go wrong I think Irsquom just one of the unlucky ones. At

El Salvador Refugee Community Day 3

This time the women went to places by themselves and just us guys and one more adventurous young lady worked on houses in the community. Soon aft

Summer 2010 BC

Getting ready to leave. Bags are packed and we are off to Ottawa airport early in the morning. Looking forward to another adventure and seeing new sites. Attending the Robert's wedding in Whistler will be a great start. Off we go.

Flying to Copenhagen

Ralph and I are off again this time to Denmark and Norway for three weeks. Neither of us have been there so it should be a whole new adventure for us. And of course I'm combining my family research with our vacation. Last fall I finally discovered the actual farms where my Norwegian great great grandparents were born. So now we have a reason to visit the Lillehammer area in the central
