Only those new to traveling or those fed up with it would get frustrated by its intern social system in which people come and go friends are easily made and both parties realize keeping in touch is an ideal hardly ever realized.Three years ago when my travelinglife got a kickstart by living in a youth hostel in Amsterdam for six months I was introduced to the wonderful world of hostel life

Earthquake in Santiago
As I am writing this blog the ground is still shaking slightly from the aftershock of tonightrsquos massive earthquake. At around 0330 in the morning disaster struck although movements were notable about twenty minutes earlier. According to the news the city of Santiago was affected by a quake of 7.0 on the scale of Richter and the epicenter a few hundred kilometers south by a 8.8 magnitude qua
Oudejaarsdag in Tel Aviv
Naast me staat een leeg glas water.
Macau Trip
This last weekend I FINALLY got a chance to go to Macau. Macau is the 2nd special administrative region of the People's Republic of China the other being Hong Kong. It was once a Portuguese colony and is now a 3 island territory connected by long stretches of bridges. It is located about 37 miles SW of Hong Kong and takes about an hour to get to by turbojet. The gambling and casino life in Macau
Begin nooit zomaar over religie of politiek
Begin nooit zomaar over religie of politiek.
Trinity Beach
Following our day out on the Great Barrier Reef we headed back towards Cairns again only this time we had 8 days at the Marlin Cove Resort at Trinity Beach. We followed three massive coaches from the Quicksilver company all the way down the highway boy that is one big operationMarlin Cove turned out to be a fantastic resort and we'd been lucky enough to score a primo room overlooking the lago

Home shit home
What do you miss most from homeBeing abroad often for several months at a time makes you aware of the things in life that are important to you. What you miss and what you can happily do without. Cold showers dirty yellow pillows or an ongoing slumberparty with twenty strangers. Dine like a local prepare your own pasta or budget with homemade sandwiches. Public transport taxis or the ben
English language dominance and the travelscene
Last night I went out in Cali with 3 native English speakers 2 of whom spoke Spanish well 1 of them not bothering even the slightest to learn the language. He later said Ive been to the Netherlands. I love that place everybody speaks English its so easy for traveling. Much better than France or Italy. I must admit I too find it easier to travel within countries where the majority knows ba
How my drunk tour guide almost broke into my room
I just came back from a threeday trip to Angel Falls the highest waterfall in the world. My head it still sore as I barely slept last night. My thumbs are blue from an earlier fingerprint session at the police station. I had to file an official complaint against my guide. Why Because last night in a drunk mood he attempted to break into my room thereby screaming for over two hours and trying t
No money no electricity no security
Equals no tourist industryI am ready to go home. This trip has lasted long enough. Venezuela is too much for a humble solo female backpacker like myself. With hostels being almost entirely absent regular electricity and water shortages a general environment of unsafety and monetary issues I am out of my element and anxious to return to Lima. What happened to my those laidback Europeans in th

Good Things on the way to Cairns
After leaving the caravan park at Innisfail we drove to Coquette Point a place mentioned in the tourist brochures as worth a visit. What was great about this little side tour was that on the way we got great views from the hilltop of the town and surrounding paddocks and hills. Coquette Point was at the end of the road we'd taken quite a nice little spot on the banks of the Johnstone River. It'
World Scout Moot
During my last couple of days in Mombasa I spent a lot of time saying goodbye I visited Bomu again and gave gifts to the staff I worked with to say thank you. As a leaving present my hosts took me to have my arms painted with henna which was really cool. I helped out at another medical camp and was wished well by all the people I had spent time with on these trips. On my last night I went ou
