Cyborg's feud with Ronda Rousey's mom is heating up

Updated MAR 19, 2015 3:47p ET

Ronda Rousey vs. Cris "Cyborg" Justino is the new Mayweather-Pacquiao the fight the world is waiting to see. And the bad blood between the two MMA stars already exceeds anything ever said by Money or Manny.

Cyborg regularly challenges Rousey to make the fight happen, and Rousey refers to her as a steroid-enhanced freak. But now the trash talk is taking it further, with Rousey's mom mixing it up, too.

Rousey's mom, Dr. AnnMaria De Mars, recently declared her daughter would break Cyborg's arm in a fight, and accused the Brazilian of all kinds of stuff.

"Oh, Ronda will break her arm," De Mars told Submission Radio. "I can say that right now. I'll tell you two things: Ronda will break her arm, and Ronda will not go up in weight. And the reason she won't apparently is because Cris Cyborg has missed weight multiple times. So if you have her fight at 140, she's going to show up at 145 or 150. So that's the first thing. If she's gonna miss 135, she can at least give Ronda 10 percent of the purse.

"And then secondly, she has kind of an inflated record, because if you look back at some of her matches, she's fought women who were 125 pounds and she's 160. You know that's like Ronda fighting her little sister and her saying 'Oh, look at me, I'm so dominant.' So I'm not impressed with her record, and of course failing the drug-test thing.

"I almost feel like that's sort of like when you get a DUI. That's probably not the only time you were driving drunk. So I'd say her whole record is under suspicion; certainly the one match she got caught at is under suspicion not suspicion, it's proven. And then there have been you could look them up several matches where she missed weight and was 20 pounds or more heavier than the other person. So under those conditions and going bragging [about] how dominant you are does not impress me.

"And the other thing is, I love Ronda, she's a great person, she has many many wonderful qualities, but one thing about her is she holds a grudge, and she will break Cris Cyborg's arm."

You can check out the whole interview in the video below:

Cyborg, however, doesn't appear to be intimidated. She tweeted out a link to a Fighters Only story in which she's quoted as saying, "Honda (sic) would rather fight girls she know she can beat in the first round because the last time she challenge herself she only take home a Bronze medal," and "Everybody knows the time is coming. Ms. Housey (sic) please sit front row our fight and you will cry."

Beaches set to open two days after shark attack

Hapuna Beach and Waialea Bay remained closed Thursday, following a shark attack that severely injured the arm of a Kansas man.

Hawaii County Fire Department overflights Thursday morning did not produce a sighting of the shark that attacked the snorkeler Wednesday.

But the aggressive nature of the animal and poor visibility because of wind chop prompted county officials to recommend the state keep the beaches off limits until 7 a.m. today.

Beaches were evacuated about lunchtime Wednesday when a 10- to 12-foot tiger shark inflicted severe bite wounds on the left forearm and thigh of a 58-year-old man from Overland Park, Kan., who was snorkeling with his family about 20 yards off a point popularly known as Jump Rock at the south end of Hapuna Beach.

The tiger continued to cruise the beach an hour after the attack.

This was an unusual case where the shark went away and came back, Special Operations Battalion Chief Gerald Kosaki said.

Under normal circumstances, the beaches would have opened at noon Thursday, shortly after the days last overflight.

While great whites generally are the stuff of overwrought Hollywood fare, the akamai know that tiger sharks are far more likely to be the culprit in unprovoked attacks on swimmers off the coasts of Hawaii.

However, the season for the animals to be making their presence known is winding down, with most sightings usually happening toward the end of the calendar year and into January, said Acting Battalion Chief Paul Austria.

I was a little shocked to hear it was in the area this time of year, Austria said.
