Man accused in shooting injury of former Ascension deputy can stand trial but sanity still question – The Advocate

GONZALES A state district judge found Monday that an Orlando, Florida, man is competent to stand trial in the January 2015 shooting injury of an Ascension Parish sheriff's deputy.

Judge Jessie LeBlanc of the 23rd Judicial District made the ruling after Chadwik Schwender, 30, agreed to accept the written findings of three mental health professionals that he understood the charges against him and could assist in his defense.

Prosecutors have accused Schwender, 3217 Sutton Drive,of shooting then-Deputy James Atkins II on Jan. 20, 2015, after the deputy pulled over a stolen car that Schwender and two others were riding in.

Atkins, who was shot in the hand and survived his wounds, suspected Schwender and the others of stealing bullets from the Walmart in Donaldsonville minutes earlier, sheriff's deputies have said.

At the time of the shooting, Schwender's two co-defendants were on the run from an attempted murder in Florida days earlier. They had picked up Schwender on their way to Louisiana, prosecutors have alleged.

Prosecutors charged Schwender and his co-defendants with attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated burglary, being convicted felons in possession of firearms and other counts. One of the co-defendants,Jennifer McGhee, 30, no address, agreed to testify against Schwender and another man as part of a guilty plea May 15 to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She was sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Schwender had the option on Monday of requesting a hearing on the written findings of the three medical professionals but he agreed to have LeBlanc rule based solely on their reports to the court. After ruling, she filed the reports under seal.

LeBlanc had appointed the sanity commission in November at the request of Schwender's former public defender. That attorney brought up Schwender's history as a special education student with learning disabilities and also noted he has a substance abuse history and had no memory of the facts surrounding his arrest in Ascension.

While LeBlanc found Schwender competent to stand trial, she did not rule on whether Schwender was sane at the time of the shooting. LeBlanc said that while one medical professional found Schwender was at that time, a second gave no opinion and a third needed more information.

Schwender's current public defender, attorney Tiffany Myles Crosby, told LeBlanc her client may want to raise issues of intoxication but may do it as a defense at trial rather than as the basis of changing his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.

Leblanc set a hearing for July 25 when the third co-defendant, John McMullen, 37, is expected to argue on motions as well. He has pleaded not guilty the charges.

Breezango Beats The Ascension at WWE Money in the Bank 2017 … – Bleacher Report

In a late addition to the 2017 Money in the Bank card, Breezango defeated The Ascension at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

WWE Universe showed Fandango rolling up Viktor for the victory:

The match came about after The Ascension showed themselves to be the culprits of an attack on Tyler Breeze earlier in the week:

Wrestling Inc thought the reveal fell somewhat flat:

This would've been a great time to have The Authors of Pain make their main roster debut or usher American Alpha back into the fold.

Not only did The Ascension feel like an underwhelming rival for Breezango, it couldn't even leave Money in the Bank victorious, giving essentially no payoff to the "Who attacked Breezango?" storyline.

On one hand, it's good to see Breezango getting a pay-per-view win. Not only are Tyler Breeze and Fandango an entertaining duo, they're also capable in-ring workers. They'd make great champions in the event they captured the SmackDown Live tag team titles.

On the other hand, beating The Ascension does little to raise Breezango's profilesuch is The Ascension's current state in WWEultimately changing very little in the tag team division.

Nearly a year after floods, work begins on damaged Ascension Parish schools despite FEMA delays – The Advocate

ST. AMANT Work is underway to restore St. Amant Primary, the first of the five severely flood-damaged Ascension Parish schools to see repairs begin almost a year after the devastating rains of last August.

The district is proceeding with the $3.5 million restoration of the primary school on La. 429 whose approximately 600 students attended class on a former community college campus last year without word yet of how much the school system might be reimbursed by Federal Emergency Management Agency grant money.

A FEMA spokesman said Friday the allocation of those funds should be made by July.

FEMA reimbursements for public projects come through the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOSEP), and can be as much as 90 percent of restoration costs.

The required project worksheet a vital step in the grant process for St. Amant Primary was submitted to FEMA in early January, schools Superintendent David Alexander said Friday.

With the project currently still in review by FEMA, the school district went ahead and bid and awarded the contract for the St. Amant Primary project in May, in hopes of having the campus open before the new school year.

"I don't understand why there's been such a delay" in the FEMA review process for the flood-damaged schools, Alexander said.

"We're a little confused," said Alexander, adding that the review process for other flood-related projects in the school district, such as the set-up of temporary campuses at four of the flooded schools, has moved at a faster pace.

The school district also began work in May on St. Amant Middle, which shares a campus with St. Amant Primary. The middle school was able to stay open last year, despite having some flood damage. The cost to repair it is estimated at $1.3 million.

The project worksheet for St. Amant Middle was submitted to FEMA in March, Alexander said, and is still in the review process.

FEMA spokesman Jake Conley said Friday that a grant of $3 million is expected to be allocated for the St. Amant Primary School some time in early July and a grant of $888,000 is expected to be awarded for the St. Amant Middle School in mid-July.

The process of identifying storm-related damage and associated scope of work to fix that damage can be lengthy, depending on the level of damage, Conley said.

"Additionally, items such as applicable code and standards upgrades and hazard mitigation proposals can take time to discuss and develop," he said.

Chad Calder, director of planning and construction for the Ascension Parish public school system, said plans for the restoration of three other schools that received major damage in the flood St. Amant High, Lake Elementary and Galvez Middle are close to being ready to bid, and planning for the final flood-damaged school, Galvez Primary, is close behind that.

+14

ST. AMANT For the past six months, St. Amant High students have carried on the school year

But, he said, "We're still awaiting obligations from FEMA. The biggest challenge is making sure we have the funding."

Conley said FEMA expects to be allocating grants for the Lake Elementary project, as well as for ancillary buildings at St. Amant High School, in July.

Walking through the St. Amant Primary campus that was busy with construction workers last week, Superintendent Alexander said, "FEMA has not delayed us yet, but if we don't get obligations on those projects pending, there could be a problem because of cash flow."

When asked if he could estimate when the remaining schools that received major damage in the flood might be restored, Alexander said, "I can't even speculate. There are too many factors to speculate."

"If cash flow and FEMA reimbursements come in a timely way they might could be finished in a timely way," he said.

Sorrento to see start of Main Street drainage project, watching weather – The Advocate

SORRENTO A parish project to replace an aging drainage culvert under Main Street in Sorrento is set to begin Tuesday, depending on the weather.

But with the tropical activity in the Gulf, the project will be taken on a day-by-day basis, Sorrento Mayor Mike Lambertsaid.

"We're not going to take one of our main (street) arteries out" in the face of possible severe weather, Lambert said."We'll monitor the progress of the storm and see what happens."

Once the project begins, the work at the Main Street/Lee Street intersection is expected to take six weeks to complete, he said.

The old culvert will be replaced with a big box culvert to improve drainage, saidMartin McConnell, public information officer with Ascension Parish government.

The work in Sorrento is part of an initiative to gradually replace old culverts "all over the parish," McConnell said.

All residents in East Ascension pay a half-cent sales tax for drainage. Parish government handles most drainage problems inside and outside the corporate limits of the east bank's municipalities.

On Tuesday, the parish is expected to be mobilizing equipment and putting materials in place at the site, the mayor said.

The project was scheduled for the summer, so it wouldn't interfere with school buses, he said.

If the weather doesn't impede the culvert project this week, drivers in Sorrento should expect to detour on John LeBlanc Boulevard. Lambert said small-vehicle, local traffic can also detour from Railroad Street to Braud Street.

Other drainage culverts crossing under Main Street are also due to be replaced in the future, Lambert said.

"This is a maintenance project, being proactive," Lambert said of the parish's drainage work.

The bots are coming – The New Indian Express

Facebooks artificial intelligence research lab was training chatbots to negotiate. The bots soon learned the usefulness of deceit

Deceit & dealmaking The bots feigned interest in a valueless item, so they could later compromise by conceding it. Deceit is a complex skill that requires hypothesising the others beliefs, and is learnt late in child development. Our agents learnt to deceive without explicit human design, simply by trying to achieve their goals, says the research paper

Has Terminators Skynet arrived? The bots also developed their own language. The researchers had to take measures to prevent them from using non-human language. But the bots werent better at negotiating than humans. So the Terminators Skynet is not here yet, but should we be worried?

The fable of the sparrows A colony of sparrows found it tough to manage on their own. After another day of long hard work, they decided to steal an owl egg. They reckoned an owl would help them build their nests, look after their young and keep an eye on predators

But one sparrow disagreed, This will be our undoing. Should we not first give some thought to owl-domestication? But the rest went on with their plan. They felt it would be difficult to find an owl egg. After succeeding in raising an owl, we can think about this, they said. Neil DeGrasse Tyson Is Creating a ‘Space Odyssey’ Video Game About Space Exploration – ScienceAlert

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is making a video game about space exploration.

Or trying to, anyway - theKickstarter for the projectwent live on June 13 and runs through July 29. At the time of writing, they have raised US$100,121 of the US$314,159 goal (get it?).

The game, called Space Odyssey, would "allow players to travel through the cosmos to scientifically accurate planets, moons and exoplanets based in real science," according to a press release emailed to Business Insider.

Tyson's basic concept seems to be a captivating interactive experience that still follows scientific principles.

"I have no patience for people who say, 'I don't want the laws of physics to constrain me,'" Tysonsaid while discussing the gameat the video game E3 convention in Los Angeles this week.

Space Odyssey

On the Kickstarter page, the team behind the game promises a long list of potential activities: "Develop planets, colonise worlds, nurture species, mine elements, build robots, and discover unique life-forms as you coordinate with others in an intense game of real-time strategy."

Players would supposedly begin by exploring Proxima B, the closest known exoplanet to our own solar system, just over 4 light years away (there arereal-life plans to try to send mini-spacecraftthere).

After exploring the surface of that planet and learning how the science-based physics systems work (with Tyson as your guide), players would be ready to start the main event.

Beginning at a space station, they'd create and terraform a home planet and system, taking into account real aspects of biology and chemistry. That system can include be colonies and outposts - and you can play solo or with friends.

Players would also need to protect their systems from threats, including environmental disaster, space objects, climate change, disease, and the changes brought about by evolution and whatever else may happen to a planet.

Luckily, a digital assistant with Tyson's soothing voice would guide you through all of this.

Players would also be able to design a spacecraft to explore galaxies created by friends or "prominent scientists and fictional world-builders like Tyson, Bill Nye, George R.R. Martin, Neil Gaiman, and Peter Beagle," according to the Kickstarter.

Plus, there would be bonus virtual reality (VR) missions, playable on an Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear, according to a fact sheet for the game.

The company behind the game is called Space Media Ventures. The team includes producers who have worked in games, movies, and VR; the comics creator behind Wolverine; and artists who have worked on games like God of War 3.

Tyson's role seems to be largely inspiration and helping ensure that the game stays true to real science.

Mark Murphy, a co-creator of the game and creative director at Space Media Ventures, told Digital Trendsthat Tyson "helped create challenges in the game, and has challenged our creative team to entertain and inspire. He has also brought forward some incredible collaborators to our efforts, an incredible team of scientists, astronauts and explorers."

An ambitious undertaking

Space Odyssey seems to involve building activity similar to Minecraft, space colonisation akin to that in Civilisation: Beyond Earth, elements of exploration like No Man's Sky, and echoes ofElon Musk's favouriterocket-building simulator, Kerbal Space Program. Plus a whole lot of real (and really cool) science.

That's ambitious, especially since the anticipated launch date of Space Odyssey is January 2019.

With all that to design, the Kickstarter funding seems unlikely to be sufficient for the project. But a secondary purpose of the Kickstarter may be to encourage community members to interact with and and influence the game.

"[W]e do have other funding sources for the game; those sources are not contingent on the crowdfund. For us this is a committed community build, we want the people who will be playing our game to have the opportunity to engage while the build is underway," Murphy told Business Insider.

"We are committed to providing an enhanced physics experience which we call experiential physics that will elevate game play regarding modding, mapping and building and expressed action. I think it's fair to say our budget exceeds our community raise goal."

It's hard to say whether everything will really come together by January 2019, but whenever the game gets released, we're excited to play - and learn while doing so.

Donald Trump sees new opportunities for space exploration … – Washington Times

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Bill Gates first noticed parallels between President John F. Kennedy and President-elect Donald Trump after speaking with the newly electd president: But in the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that, there can be a very upbeat message that [Trumps] administration [is] going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.

Indeed, there may be more to Mr. Gates JFK-space reference than just a metaphor.

The Cold War with Russia greeted JFK upon becoming president in 1961, including the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in his first 100 days. Currently, Donald Trump is experiencing real Cold War-style tensions with China, Russia and their client states.

Over the last decade North Korea has developed a nuclear weapon and ballistic missile capability that threatens its neighbors and (eventually) the U.S. Recalling obvious parallels with the 1960s, Robert Litwak (Woodrow Wilson International Center) and others call this a Cuban Missile Crisis in slow-motion.

In 1957 the shock of the century occurred when Russia unexpectedly launched the first artificial satellite (Sputnik) into orbit. The American publics firm belief in its national security and technological superiority was severely shaken. In 1962 Russia secretly placed nuclear missiles in Cuba that were aimed at the U.S. Miraculously World War III was avoided, but significantly, the Cuban Missile Crisis intensified bilateral competition in the 1960s space race. In an effort to lower tensions JFK proposed a joint U.S.-Russia mission to the Moon in his September 1963 speech to the United Nations.

Its challenging to identify potential 21st-century Sputnik moments. For example, in December 2013 China became the first nation in the 21st century to land a rover on the Moon. While it attracted some Cold War-style concern in the space community, there was no Sputnik-level arousal in the American public.

When China launched a spacecraft that flew around the Moon and then successfully soft-landed back in China on Nov. 1, 2014, the event was lost in the intense media coverage of the 2014 U.S. elections. In fact, including its growing space station, China was signaling its capability to send spacecraft and soon humans to the Moon at least, a mini-Sputnik moment, considering Chinas successful anti-satellite program.

For North Korea, the Sputnik moment and Cuban Missile Crisis analog may soon converge. But Mr. Trumps new relationship with China will hopefully encourage them to reduce nuclear tensions. By analogy with our 1960s Russia/Cuba experience, this could easily stimulate momentum toward the Moon either in competition with China or possibly ISS-style cooperation.

In any case, the water ice (billions of gallons) at the lunar poles is a strategic resource that can accelerate scientific, technological and commercial development of the Moon as well as Earth-Moon space. And as of now, it remains unclaimed.

Both JFK and Mr. Trump inherited slow economies. President Eisenhowers average annual growth over his term was 2.5 percent plus a very sluggish recovery from the 1958 recession, and President Obamas average was 2.0 percent per year, including the slowest recovery since World War II. JFKs bold solution was a dramatic tax-cut plan for both individuals and businesses: In short, it is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low, and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut rates now.

JFKs tax reform package worked; according to Larry Kudlow, The U.S. economy grew by roughly 5 percent yearly for nearly eight years. And Mr. Trump is following in JFKs economic footsteps.

Mr. Trumps charisma, vision, and style are reminiscent of JFK and he may be able to lead this generation to Mars and beyond. Indeed game-changing, 1960s-style decades (Maslow Windows) featuring major economic and technology booms, great human explorations, and geopolitical stress appear about twice per century back to Lewis and Clark.

They are often triggered by a Sputnik moment and a large economic boom, and powered by the societal ebullience it creates. Although definite signs of unusual optimism are visible in the markets, corporate profits, and numerous surveys, we may not know until later this year when they will expand into a transformative JFK-style boom.

Cosmosphere looks to future of space exploration with medical-focused camp – The Hutchinson News

Adam Stewart @hutchnewsadam

Astronaut Scott Kelly had to spend about a year aboard the Intenational Space Station for researchers to learn about the long-term effects of space flight on the human body.

About 10 teenagers learned some of those same lessons last week during the Cosmosphere's first-ever Space Rx camp.

Its so unique, and everybody in the industry is talking about the next big thing Mars, Mimi Meredith, vice president of development at the Cosmosphere said.

But sending astronauts to Mars, which at its closest is more than 100 times farther away than the moon, will require addressing the effects of long-term space flight on the human body. Meredith said that will require more than engineers and astronauts it will take nutritionists, physical therapists and all sorts of other medical professionals.

Tracey Tomme, Cosmosphere vice president for education, said the idea for Space Rx came around three years ago when someone told her about a non-space medical camp. Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and the Hutchinson Clinic both embraced the idea, she said. But the planned camp didnt see enough enrollees a year ago.

That changed this year, however. All of the campers signing up, coindentally, turned out to be girls.

In addition to trips to medical facilities to hear from doctors and other health care professionals, the group also got a cooking class at Apron Strings, focused on foods that would work well in weightlessness which includes avoiding foods that generate a lot of crumbs, Tomme said.

Camp counselor Savannah Kipfer, a University of Kansas aerospace engineering student, said she was surprised to learn how big the effects of prolonged spaceflight could be, including how much bone density could be lost.

Tomme credited Sandy Heisler and Kris Friesen for helping create the camp and find presenters, who included Jeremy Patterson, Dr. Ryan Amick, Dr. Michael Hagley, Mark Hall, Dr. Christopher Kain, Dr. Steve Marshall, Dr. Michael Schekall, Dan Jones, Denise Pounds, Katy Price and Kris Lehnhardt.

Spotlight on research: From potatoes to nanotech to the stage – Dublin City University

This week's Spotlight on Research is with Dr Padraig Murphy Lecturer in science communication at the School of Communications, DCU

You study science communication - how did you develop an interest in that?

I like it because it combines my interests in science and in the sociology and philosophy of how people talk about and understand issues.

When I was a teenager I liked biology and English in school and I chose science I did a degree in environmental and biological pollution sciences in Wales and I enjoyed it.

Then I worked in the pharmaceutical industry and I was even trying my hand at acting. I saw an ad in the paper for the Masters in Science Communication in DCU, so I decided that would combine my interests in communication and science.

Now you research and teach at DCU. What kinds of issues have you explored?

I now run the Masters in Science Communication and teach on the programme. Ive done a lot of research work on the environment and biotechnology, and how people perceive new technologies in those areas.

One project funded by the EPA was to set up a citizens jury to deliberate a new project that was starting in Ireland to grow GM potatoes that are resistant to potato. That was an interesting process.

People came forward from the local community to hear from experts about the project and its implications. In the end, people were quite comfortable with the project; they were more concerned about aspects like patenting discoveries arising from the work.

Another big area is climate change. I have worked with the FuJo Institute here in DCU to look at Irish coverage of climate change in media and social media.

We found that there were low levels of denialism but in general coverage has been low. That said, it spiked around the time of COP21 in Paris in 2015, and since then climate change has been covered more as a political issue in the media here.

Im interested now in looking at how popular broadcasts and services like weather forecasts could be used as a public engagement tool for increasing awareness of the science of climate change.

You have also looked at the sights and sounds of nanotech whats that about?

Nanotechnology has been a big interest of mine for many years, particularly because it was seen by some initially as a potentially dangerous thing but those fears dont seem to be as acute now, although they still exist.

"I have worked with Dr Norah Campbell from Trinity College Dublin Business School and Dr Cormac Deane from IADT on how nano is portrayed visually in TV programmes, films, ads and so on.

We have found that the visual aspects can represent nano in an alien way. Theres an element of strangeness there. We are now looking at sounds in nano media too."

You are part of big European projects to encourage responsible research and innovation what are you doing there?

Responsible research and innovation, or RRI, is a bit of a buzz term at the moment, and the underlying premise is to make sure that research and innovation is designed thinking about the outcomes and impacts on wider society.

DCU is involved in a European Horizon 2020 project called NUCLEUS (New Understanding of Communication, Learning and Engagement in Universities and Scientific Institutions) that looks at ways of embedding RRI in university research.

We look at how science can be more responsive to grand challenges like population growth and food and water security and constantly asking are we doing the right kind of research for society and how we can involve the public.

We have 17 institutions across Europe and also institutions in South Africa and China involved.

RRI is a really prominent area of interest for me, as it brings in the philosophical and ethical dimension of how we talk about science, and how it cant be too teachery and removed, and how it could engage all aspects of society.

You were also a co-editor of the 2017 book Little Country, Big Talk: Science Communication in Ireland. How did that come to be?

The book celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Masters in Science Communication in DCU and it features contributions from graduates.

It also showcases some research conducted by our Celsius research group on engagement with science and technology.

Brian Trench was the driving force, and with Dr Declan Fahy here at DCU and myself we brought it together reflecting on how the landscape of science communication has changed in Ireland over those decades.

And how has it changed?

There is definitely greater public engagement with science in Ireland and researchers are being encouraged to communicate more, but I think we need to develop better forms of engagement around more politicised issues like water, wind farms and incinerators, and we need more of the media engaging in serious coverage of science.

What do you do when you are not teaching and researching?

I still have the theatre bug, and Im currently involved on the production side of a play called An Experiment with an Air Pump by Shelagh Stephenson, which explores science and ethics and will be performed in Smock Alley in Dublin from July 4th.

Technical Watch on NanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK) Levels – Benton Bulletin

Shares of NanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK) have recently come under renewed examination. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is one of multiple popular technical indicators created by J. Welles Wilder. Wilder introduced RSI in his book New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems which was published in 1978. RSI measures the magnitude and velocity of directional price movements. The data is represented graphically by fluctuating between a value of 0 and 100. The indicator is computed by using the average losses and gains of a stock over a certain time period. RSI can be used to help spot overbought or oversold conditions. An RSI reading over 70 would be considered overbought, and a reading under 30 would indicate oversold conditions. A level of 50 would indicate neutral market momentum. Checking on the Relative Strength Index, the 14-day RSI is presently standing at 33.57, the 7-day is 24.88, and the 3-day is resting at 15.58.

Currently, the 14-day ADX for NanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK) is sitting at 14.64. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.

Investors have the ability to use technical indicators when completing stock research. At the time of writing, NanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK) has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -71.66. Developed by Donald Lambert, the CCI is a versatile tool that may be used to help spot an emerging trend or provide warning of extreme conditions. In terms of Moving Averages, the 7-day is resting at 0.03. Moving averages have the ability to be used as a powerful indicator for technical stock analysis. Interested traders may be keeping an eye on the Williams Percent Range or Williams %R. Williams %R is a popular technical indicator created by Larry Williams to help identify overbought and oversold situations. NanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK)s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -143.00. In general, if the indicator goes above -20, the stock may be considered overbought. Alternately, if the indicator goes below -80, this may point to the stock being oversold.

Investors who have stayed on the sidelines may be considering if the markets will continue to rally higher. Staying vigilant and watching for signs of the next bear may prove to be a crucial element for helping to guide certain portfolio moves. Keeping an eye on historical corrections as well as sentiment and technicals, may help provide the proper insight needed. Investors may be mindful of any meaningful pullback or correction, and they may have a certain percentage in mind for when things seem to be getting out of hand. Cautious optimism may prove to be a profit saver when the bearish winds start to blow. Investors may need to figure out a plan for when to take some profit off the table. Conducting thorough fundamental research on stocks even after they have broken out may help the investor understand the reason behind the move, and whether it is likely to continue or if it is just a temporary spike.

Sifting through all the data can be trying, especially for the novice investor. Digging down into the fundamentals may help weed out the undesirable companies. Investors will most likely be scouting out the equity market for any bargains. Although they may be harder to find these days, there still may be a hidden gem out there somewhere. As companies start to report quarterly earnings, investors will be closely following to see which ones are poised for success over the next few quarters.

Deep diving into thetechnical levels forNanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK), we note that the equitycurrently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of -76.14. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.

NanoTech Entertainment Incs Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -150.00. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.

The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSIforNanoTech Entertainment Inc (NTEK) is currently at 32.74, the 7-day stands at 23.34, and the 3-day is sitting at 12.95.

Occasionally, investors may feel like they are riding on a wild roller coaster when dealing with the stock market. Controlling emotions when taking the ride may assist with making necessary decisions when the time comes. Many investors choose to do thorough research when purchasing any stock. Knowing what is owned and why it is owned may help ease the mind when things get sticky. When the market is riding high and there is generally smooth sailing on the investing seas, individual investors may have the tendency to get complacent. Being prepared for any situation may help ease the stress of big market decision making. There may be a time when it seems like everything is going off the rails, but having an actual game plan for management and recovery could make a huge difference both financially and psychologically.

BRIT and US soldiers were involved in a huge NATO military drill in the shadow of Russia as fears of invasion increase.

GETTY

It is NATOs first defensive drill on the border between Poland and Lithuania and involved 1,500 troops.

This comes as tensions between Vladimir Putin and the US rose at the weekend as a US jet shot down a Syrian warplane an ally of Russia.

Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, called the incident yesterday a "dangerous escalation".

We have to demonstrate that we can support allies

It was rehearsing for a Russian invasion of the Baltic states.

if they seize the Suwalki Gap then it would cut off Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Over two days, US helicopters and British aircraft took part in exercises in a simulated defence of the potential flashpoint.

We live in turbulent times. Trump has the keys to nuclear weapons, and could end work to prevent climate change. Putin is looming in the East, the far-right are on the rise in Europe and Kim Jong-un is developing nuclear weapons of his own. Is this the END of days?

Before his inauguration, Donald Trump asked a security expert three times during a briefing, why the US couldn't use nuclear weapons after he becomes president.

American helicopters landed in a field in rural Lithuania on Saturday, startling grazing horses and cows.

US Lieutenant General Ben Hodges said: The gap is vulnerable because of the geography. It's not inevitable that there's going to be an attack.

But if that was closed, then you have three allies that are north that are potentially isolated from the rest of the alliance.

Russia denies any plans to invade the Baltics, and says it is NATO that is threatening stability in eastern Europe.

But Hodges, who commands US forces in Europe, said it was crucial for the alliance to show it was ready.

"We have to practice, we have to demonstrate that we can support allies in keeping (the Gap) open, in maintaining that connection," he said.

Eleven NATO countries have sent 4,000 troops to Lithuania to participate in this years Iron Sword exercises.

Members of the U.S. 173rd Airborne Brigade prepare a simulated attack

There are currently 4,500 troops deployed in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

The Poles have been pushing other NATO allies to use some of these troops to secure the vulnerable Suwalki Gap.

"The training helps present a credible defence force that hopefully will deter aggression, but if not, we'll be prepared to move to defend the borders of NATO," added Lieutenant Colonel Steven Gventer, who leads the US battlegroup in Orzysz.

Q&A With Psychedelic Stand-Up and LaughFest Headliner Shane Mauss – Flagpole Magazine

Comedian Shane Mauss brings his psychedelic comedy tour, A Good Trip, to the Georgia Theatre for this years LaughFest at AthFest. Mauss resume includes an impressive list of late-night talk show and podcast appearances, as well as specials on Comedy Central and Netflix. In addition to his stand-up, he also hosts Here We Are, a science podcast. A Good Trip is a journey into Mauss personal experience with psychedelics, and is self-described as part stand-up, part storytelling and part TED Talk.

Flagpole: Can you explain the basic concept of a psychedelic comedy tour?

Shane Mauss: I decided to do a show with the theme of psychedelics about two years ago. It started getting more and more popular, so I decided to build a tour around it. The shows about my personal experiences with psychedelics, but also about a lot of the research being done behind them today. It also tackles a lot of the misconceptions about psychedelics, trying to de-stigmatize and demystify them for people who maybe dont know a lot about them.

FP: Has anything about your act or your overall view of psychedelics changed as youve traveled and talked to people on the road?

SM: When I started doing this show, I was mostly just drawing from personal experience. I really had no idea how big the psychedelic community was, or how much research was being done around psychedelics today. Theres an incredible amount of really intriguing and inspiring work being done. At first, this was more or less just another comedy show that I put together, centered around a subject that was personally important to me. What I didnt know is how important this topic would be for other people. Learning about how psychedelics can help treat people with PTSD and depression has been kind of the biggest lesson Ive learned along the way.

FP: What led you to want to blend the worlds of scientific research and comedy?

SM: Ive always been interested in various scientific subjects. Its not something I really pursued in school, because Ive always wanted to be a stand-up comedian. As I caught breaks and ended up doing stand-up full-time, I got tired of doing jokes just for the sake of it and wanted to shift to talking about topics I was more interested in. I would have amazing conversations over lunch or dinner with my academic friends I had made, and I always thought, Man, I should have been recording that. So I started the Here We Are podcast three years ago, and its been an entertaining and educational journey. I enjoy it just as much as my stand-up career.

FP: Would you say that podcasting is an important part of being a modern day stand-up comedian?

SM: I dont think that anyone has to do comedy in any one particular way these daystheres a million ways to go about it in the modern era of comedy. I certainly think there is a lot of opportunity in the podcast realm. A lot of people have still never even listened to a podcast, but I think its getting more and more popular all the time. It can definitely be difficult for people to find their own niche. A lot of podcasts are just comedians interviewing other comedians, which is fine, but Im glad to provide something for people who want something a little different.

Best Nootropics for Sale in 2017 | Reviews and Comparison

The word nootropics were created by a Romanian doctor in 1972. He combined two latin words: nous and trepein. Nous stands for mind and trepein means to bend, which is exactly what nootropics do.

Nootropics are so effective because they influence neurochemicals that are already found in the brain. Nootropic supplements work by increasing low levels of hormones and neurotransmitters in our brains which help us improve our cognitive functions by increasing the blood flow and oxygenation in the brain.

This makes our nerve cells more responsive, but they operate in a calm way without causing side effects like nervousness and jitters. In fact, one of the best parts about nootropics is that they are safe to use and that they dont have any side effects.

Nootropic supplements help protect the brain by keeping it safe from chemical and physical injuries. They also improve cognitive abilities and affect areas like memory, energy levels, overall mood, and they can even help people with depression. Nootropics are also used to improve concentration and learning abilities, as well as focus.

When we take a nootropic supplement, we flood our brain with the chemicals it needs to work properly. Once the chemical levels in our brains are optimized, we think more clearly, we have more motivation and energy to cope with the problems of everyday life, and its a general enhancement of a feeling. There are no side effects that could compromise your health, in fact, most nootropic supplements also improve the health of your heart.

There are many types of mental states and diseases, as well as physical problems even doctors cant fix and nootropic supplements are the answer.

What We Like || Uplifting Trance – EDM Identity (blog)

What We Like is a new series that features genres we like in the electronic music scene. This months edition is focused onUplifting Trance!

What We Likeseries focuses on a sole genre that a contributor to the team is passionate about. Each month, that contributor will dive deep into the genre they care most about to bring you some history, information, and of course some music too. Our intention is to not just to provide some music for you to listen to, but to guide you on your journey in discovering new music or help you develop a deeper connection to genres you already love. This monthsedition of What We Like is focused on Uplifting Trance!

What is Uplifting Trance? This sub-genre of Trance has many aliases, including ones like emotional trance, epic trance, and even branching off into a sub-genre of its own called orchestral uplifting trance. However, what truly defines Uplifting Trance is the feeling that it gives you when youre listening to it. The rush The euphoria The pure bliss that reaches your ears, brings a smile to your face, and spreads warmth into your heart.

Its the type of Trance that can have you bawling from sheer happiness caused by just being in that beautiful momentor crying from deep sadness reminiscing on beautifulmemories from the past. When listening to it in a live setting, its the type of music that makes you want to hug a friend or significant other and just appreciate that you are sharing something so beautiful with someone you care about. Uplifting Trance truly evokes emotion in so many different ways, and thats why it is, and always will be my favorite genre!

Trance is said to have originated in the mid to late 1990s in Germany. These type of sounds had to be defined because it was a different type of sound than what was currently being played in Europes club scene at the time. The difference was that there was typically a breakdown portion of the song where the beat dropped and focused on a melody and then returned with a renewed intensity. It became instantly popular in Europe and spread very quickly.

It wasnt until the late 1990s and early 2000s that the more uplifting side of Trance started to show itself with artists like ATB, Delirium, Paul Van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten. Other artists such as Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, 4 Strings, and Above & Beyond to name a few were also involved in the progression of Uplifting Trance in the 2000s.

In recent years, this sub-genre of Trance has continued to carry on with artists such as Aly & Fila, John O Callaghan, Ferry Tayle, Daniel Kandi, and more. It has also branched off creating its very own Uplifting Trance subgenre mentioned above, orchestral uplifting.

There are many tracks that can be labeled as Uplifting Trance. Therefore, Ive simply picked out some of my favorite tracks, artists, labels, and radio shows that will help you get an example of what this Trance subgenre really is and why its so awesome!

Cyberpunk adventure 2064: Read Only Memories is coming to Switch – Eurogamer.net

Xbox One version due next month.

By Jeffrey Matulef Published 19/06/2017

Acclaimed cyberpunk point-and-click adventure Read Only Memories will be coming to Switch in early 2018.

2064: Read Only Memories is set in a world where Duck Game is still relevant in 57 years.

2064: Read Only Memories tells the tale of a journalist tracking down their kidnapped friend Turing, who just so happens to be the world's first sapient machine.

Unlike most oldschool point-and-click adventures, 2064: Read Only Memories will contain multiple solutions to its puzzles and the way you choose to handle problems will reflect how the story progresses.

The game was originally released on PC in 2015 as Read Only Memories, but it since did that Raiders of the Lost Ark thing where its creators renamed its title after the fact. The 2064 bit is now canon, like Indiana Jones' name in his debut feature.

2064: Read Only Memories has since come to PS4, Vita, Mac and Linux. An Xbox One version is also in development, and based on the game's official Twitter name 2064@XboxOne July!, I would wager that it's coming in July.

If that first voice sounds familiar that's because its Clementine in The Walking Dead actor Melissa Hutchinson.

You can play a free demo of Read on Memories on Steam.

What We Get Wrong About Women Who Don’t Have Kids – Refinery29

It must be said that, like many conversations about femaleness, discussions around being childfree have often centered around white, middle- or upper-class women. In the past, white women have been more likely to have access to contraception, to medical care, or to doctors who would perform abortions in secret when they were illegal otherwise. As Braelin E. Settle of Wayne State University notes in her 2014 dissertation, "Defying Mandatory Motherhood: The Social Experiences of Childfree Women," "Women of color were assimilated into dominant white culture to take advantage of their labor, leaving them with few or no policies to protect and preserve their families in comparison to white womens families. Women of color have performed the mothering work for white children, resulting in the neglect with their own children. Whereas women of color have always worked, white, middle-class women have often had the option to concentrate only on motherhood and other caregiving responsibilities." For her study, Settle surveyed a range of women about their decision to be childfree. Predominantly, it was white women who identified as "active" and certain, while Black and Latina women were more likely to say they were "passive" and ambivalent about their choices. In 2016, actress Joy Bryant wrote an essay for Lena Dunhams Lenny newsletter entitled "Stop Telling Me I Should Have Kids." Bryant addressed some of the most common sentiments lobbed her way namely, that her being pretty meant her kids would be pretty, or that she "owed" it to her husband to reproduce but race didnt appear to be among her reasons for or against parenthood.
