North Korea crisis: European Council expands sanctions against Pyongyang amid WW3 threat – Express.co.uk

The Council of the European Union said it had extended an asset freeze and travel restrictions to nine individuals and four organisations including the government-owned Foreign Trade Bank.

Similar sanctions were already imposed on 62 individuals and 50 organisations.

The latest move brings the EUs punitive measures against North Korea in line with a new United Nations Security Council resolution toughening sanctions against the Kim Jong-uns regime.

The Council of the EU has also singled out a further 41 individuals and seven organisations for to face extra measures.

A spokesman said: The EU has implemented all UN Security Council resolutions adopted in response to the DPRKs nuclear and nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.

Tensions have been running high since Pyongyang warned it would fire missiles at Guam in response to US President Donald Trumps threat that North Koreas aggression would be met with fire and fury.

North Korea says a plan that could see it fire four missiles near the US territory of Guam will be ready in a matter of days.

State media said Hwasong-12 rockets would pass over Japan and land in the sea about 17 miles from Guam, if the plan was approved by Kim.

It denounced Donald Trump's warnings as "a load of nonsense" and said the US leader was "bereft of reason".

It said: "Sound dialogue is not possible with such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work on him.

The US has told the North its actions could mean the "end of its regime".

US Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis warned Pyongyang would be "grossly overmatched" in any war against the US and its allies.

He said: While our state department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth.

Bizarre map reveals ‘best place’ in Lancashire to avoid WW3 nuclear missile strike – Lancashire Evening Post

An estate agent has put together a bizarre map which it says highlights the best places to live in Lancashire and the UK if you fear for the nation's impending doom.

This map apparently highlights the zones which would be wiped out by a nuclear strike on one of 20 major cities - and where you'd be safe.

Turns out Lancashire residents should head to Barrow or Lancaster, where you'll then be able to watch the end of the world in comfort, safe from background radiation.

The most affordable option for those worried about the impending end of the world is Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, with an average house price of just 112,279 and a good chance of being out of the radiation zone. Staying in Cumbria and slightly further north, Carlisle is also an affordable option at (131,970). To the South in Lancashire, Lancaster also provides a fairly safe bet at (146,133).

Estate agent eMoov says: "Although were out of range from any threat from North Korea, London would be the obvious choice for a nuclear strike in the UK, but the capital could be the tip of the iceberg, so eMoov used Nukemap to plot the resulting impact zones for an all-out nuclear attack on 20 major UK cities.

"These were Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Hull, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cambridge, Norwich, Oxford, London, Bristol, Swansea, Southampton, Brighton, Plymouth, Liverpool and Sheffield.

"Although the resulting strikes would also see, York, Leicester, Peterborough, Exeter, Cardiff, Bath and much more become uninhabitable due to the thermal radiation radius

Tensions reached an all-time high yesterday when Donald Trump announced he would bring fire and fury to the rogue state if despot Kim Jong-un kept threatening America.

The pot-bellied dictator responding by announcing it was carefully examining plans to bomb the US territory of Guam.

North Korea threatened to lay siege to the territory using strategic ballistic rocket Hwaseong-12.

Now America has escalated the situation further by announcing the deployment of fighter jets.

Two US B-1B bombers have been deployed from Guam amid declarations they are prepared to fight tonight.

The planes will take part in a 10-hour mission, flying near Kyushu, Japan, the East China Sea, and the Korean peninsula in a direct threat to Kim.

The Pacific Air Forces tweeted: South Dakota airmen arrive on Guam conduct #bilateral missions with Japan & ROK [South Korea] US ready to #fighttonight.

North Korea has warned it was considering attacking Guam - a huge escalation in the war of words between Kim and his Western rivals.

A statement issued by his news agency said: [We are] now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with the medium-to-long-range Hwasong-12 strategic ballistic rocket.

Just hours before Mr Trump had issued a dire warning to Kim to stop sabre-rattling.

Retired Lt. Gen. James Clapper has served in the United States Air Force for decades and under former President Barack Obama as the Director of National Intelligence. Hes not an easily excited man, according to information warfare expert Molly McKew. But thats exactly what happened Thursday when Clapper discussed President Donald Trumps comments about North Korea.

I was really struck when I visited there in November 2014, you know, but the level of paranoia and the siege mentality that prevails in North Korea was overwhelming, Clapper explained. Ive followed Korean Peninsula since I served there in the mid-1980s and I was really taken aback by the level of the siege mentality and the paranoia that exists there. And so Ive been an advocate for years now of opening which right now is kind of hard to do, but an intersection in Pyongyang much like we had in Havana for decades government we didnt recognize. This is not a reward for bad behavior but rather to have an in residence diplomatic presence, a way of gaining greater insight and understanding in whats going on in North Korea and perhaps most importantly, conveying information to North Korea.

He went on to say that whatever the United States has been doing with respect to North Korea, clearly isnt working and its time to think about a new and different strategy.

I dont know exactly how it would work, but I think the time has come to think about some direct dialogue with the North Koreans, Clapper urged. It wasnt so long ago that President Trump was saying it would be an honor to meet Kim Jong-Un and perhaps a summit that could be brokered by the Chinese. But this you know, dont pass go, dont collect $200 and were going to, you know, create a situation the likes of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, which is implied in the presidents threat. I dont think were there yet, at least I hope to god were not.

He went on to say that the global community must accept that North Korea has a nuclear presence on the global stage.

When you consider the alternative, which is not good, I would hope people would give [talks] some thought, he said.

Host Don Lemon asked about Trumps attitudes on the intelligence community and Clapper noted that it seems Trump waffles back and forth on it.

Well, I think he likes intelligence on a selective basis, Clapper continued. He seems to accept the intelligence on Korea or on Syria, on China, on other areas, on terrorism, but when it comes to Russia, not so much.

He said that trump would improve once he got rid of the two principle Nazis, John Brennan and himself. Clapper was referencing to a January 11, 2017 press conference prior to Trumps inauguration where he blamed the intelligence community for leaks about Russian hacking. He explained Trump likened he and Brennan to likened us to Nazis.

Catholic Horacio, from Texas, USA, predicted Trumps election win as far back as 2015, he told the Daily Star.

He also labelled the US President the Illuminati king who would bring the world into WW3.

Chillingly, one of his prophecies that Trump would attack Syria has already come true.

The billionaire businessman launched a huge air strike on an airbase in Homs earlier this year.

The clairvoyant said that this move would bring Russia, North Korea and China into the conflict.

His latest vision came to him in the form of a dream, in April, in which Horacio says he saw balls of fire falling from the sky and hitting the Earth.

People everywhere were running around trying to hide from this destruction, he added.

Horacio claims D-Day will fall on the 100th anniversary of the visitation of Our Lady of Fatima, the Virgin Mary, which started on May 13, 1917.

It was on that day, according to Catholic belief, Jesus mother visited a village in Portugal and warned that if they did not convert Russia to the faith, God would wreak havoc on the world.

Her sixth and final visit was said to be on October 13, 1917 and the 100th anniversary of this date is approaching in just two months time.

Horacio told the Daily Star:The main message that people need to know in order be prepared is that between May 13 and October 13 2017, this war will occur and be over with much devastation, shock and death.

The warning comes after Trump reportedlylaunched supersonic B-1B bombers from Guam airbase and warned America would respond to threats with fire and fury as North Korea warned of plans to attack the US naval outpost.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauertcondemned the rogue state's "provocative" missile tests during a press briefing.

She also defended Donald Trump after the President threatened to meet North Korea with "fire and fury like the world has never seen".

She told reporters Mr Trump was "sending a strong message" to Kim Jong-un to stop the power-crazed despot sparking a nuclear war.

Ms Nauert said: "Our long-term pressure campaign, which is backed by many other agents, is working. It is ratcheting up the pressure on North Korea.

"The President is sending a strong message to North Korea in the kind of language that North Korea understands.

"The President is a very effective spokesman people listen to him, and the President was sending a message loud and clear."

Earlier today, an official in Mr Trump's administration claimed his "fire and fury" remarks were unplanned and took his aides by surprised.

The anonymous official told the Reuters news agency: "President Trump's comment was unplanned and spontaneous.

It unveiled Her Highness and her loved ones would use the Royal Yacht Britannia to stay safe.

The plan stated the British Royal Family would hide in lochs in Scotland - much like the fabled Loch Ness monster.

While the Queen was lying low, members of parliament would be sent to a bunker with the code name Turnstile, under Box Hill near Bath.

This was so, in the case of any MP deaths, the Queen would be able to appointment a new Prime Minister - as currently it is still a part of British law that she carry out this task.

However, it is not clear whether the royal familys plans in the case of a nuclear attack may have changed since the revelation made in the document.

The Queen, Charles, William and Kate may be eyeing up other locations to escape the wrath of countries such as North Korea.

There is a bunker at Barnton Quarry that the important family might hide in.

Near the Windsor family residence of Holyroodhouse, the bunker was built in 1952.

It was one of the Regional Seats of Government, built to help the UK fight back in the case of nuclear attacks from the Soviet Union.

HMS Warrior in Northwood is another bunker the royals might use to keep themselves safe.

As their release their 5th studio album, Matching stories and also happen to complete 20 years with their record label Euphonic,we sit down with them and discuss everything from music to tours and plans ahead.

1) Hi! Firstly, congratulations on the release of Matching Stories! Its you fifth studio album! How does it feel having released it?

Ralph Kyau: Really happy that the album is out. It was a lot of work and also hard choice to select the tracks for the final album. We did much more demos as we finally took on the album. Dont know exact number but guess we made almost 50 demos over 1.5 years.

2) What was the idea behind naming the album Matching Stories?

Steven Albert: We had a couple of name ideas for the album and Matching Stories pretty much tells what we mean with choosing the final 14 tracks from so many tracks we produced for the album.

3) How have your fans responded to the album until now? Has it matched your expectations?

Ralph Kyau: Were excited about the response from our fans about the album, especially about the German vocal tracks like Mein Herz.

Steven Albert: It is the first time that I sing in my mother tongue. There are 2 tracks and all of my German friends love it. Not sure if it is for our fans who dont speak German, but I havent heard any negative feedback. We have all lyrics in the CD booklet, so people can read and learn some German, haha.

4) We see you experimenting and being open to do a lot more vocal collaborations in this album. How did it all happen?

Ralph Kyau: Our plan was to make the album diverse with female vocalists while listening and set a contrast to Stevens male voice. We wanted to have some female vocalists who didt worked at too many Trance releases before.

5) Love letter from the future, your collaboration with Adaja Black, narrates a love story that wasnt successful. What inspired the track? Is it based on a real-life story or experience?

Steven Albert: Adaja Black wrote the lyrics to an instrumental we sent her.

6) Which artist/vocalist did you look forward to collaborating with the most?

Ralph Kyau: I was really interested to work with Adaja again. She was on our last 2 albums before and we like her alot, also we were really interested to work with Jeza for the first time as we always loved her voice. Started to work with Jeza end of last year. The contact to Madeleine Wood came through Francesco Sambero, who both worked with us on one track of the album called Gamla Stan.

7) If you had to pick one track from Matching stories to which you were most connected to, which track would it be?

Steven Albert: I love the album in whole, every track is a story for me.

8) With the album having come out, can we expect an album tour to follow soon? Which cities would you be looking forward to performing at?

Ralph Kyau: We kicked off the album tour in early June with a 6 hour set at Avalon Hollywood and will still tour around the world till early 2018. For all dates best to check kyauandalbert.com or our socials.

9) You have released your 5th artist album and your record label, Euphonic records also completes 20 years this year! Two milestone events in your career! How are you celebrating both? And how does it feel to have achieved so much?

Steven Albert: As the artist album is finished we plan now two E.P.s under 20 years Euphonic and an album end of the year.

Ralph Kyau: Right now were updating our 10 year old remix for 6am by Cressida. Additional a few label acts do remixes for big Euphonic classics. All these remixes to be featured under 20 years Euphonic. For example remixer names here are Beatsole, Stoneface & Terminal, Johnny Yono, Maywave, Steve Brian pres Cabriolet Paris.

10) What does the future have in store for Kyau & Albert and Euphonic? Any big releases or news?

Steven Albert: New originals soon by Beatsole, Steve Brian and Maywave. But much more planned.

Ralph Kyau: Our collab Changes with Hello Machines gets a single soon, also Mein Herz gets a single including a Trance remix. Furthermore, were doing a collab with our long term label mate Ronski Speed right now. This one is getting huge! Release later this year.

I had an amazing opportunity to ask him some questions about his background behind his music and how he feels about his tour.

Mix 247 EDM: Being born in Scotland, trance is usually big over there what were other reasons why you wanted to start producing?

GRUM:I just really liked the idea of pulling tracks apart and then seeing how they were put together. The idea of bringing sounds together and making them into something enjoyable to listen to seemed like a good challenge to me.

Mix 247 EDM: Why did you make your main focus on trance? Any inspirational ideas, stories, etc.?

GRUM:Although Im not really proper trance, I think the fact the music contains a lot of emotion was the real draw for me, and the older stuff from around the Millennium has definitely inspired my sound!

Mix 247 EDM: When did you start touring internationally, besides only in Europe?

GRUM:Pretty much from the start of my career in 2009 Ive toured worldwide. I used to do more electro/80s inspired stuff years ago, so I got a lot of touring under my belt during that period.

Mix 247 EDM: Your recent remix of Seven Lions Higher Love just came out, want to give us an exclusive commentary of the background of your remix?

GRUM:I first heard that track when I was on theSeven Lionstour at the end of last year. He played the original version every show and it really got stuck in my head. Anjuna asked me to remix it a few months later and I was really happy to have a play around with it. I wanted to go quite stripped back with it to give the vocal space to shine!

Mix 247 EDM: I want to talk about one of your remixes, Shout, byTears For Fears. What inspired you to remix that particular song?

GRUM:That was an idea I had been toying with for a while but couldnt quite get right. In the end, it came together nicely just a couple of days before ABGT 200 so I figured that would be as good a place as any to give it the first play. I hadnt intended to release it but Anjuna was keen. Its done really well so Im happy it came out in the end.

GRUM:I was really into trance when I was a teenager. People likeFerry Corsten, Gabriel & Dresden, Nalin & Kane, Push, etc. Definitely stuff on the more melodic side. A bit of 80s soft rock in there too (thanks, dad!).

GRUM:Europe: Each country is small but has its own identity, food, culture etc. On a tour you can be in a completely different place every day.America: I love the energy and enthusiasm for the music over here (and obviously Texas BBQ)!Australia: The weather, beaches, and laid back attitude.Asia: Futuristic toilets!

How Not To Be A Dick To Your Childfree Friends

I've decided that bringing a squalling, blood- and pus-covered infant into this world is not for me. I have no major ish with other peoples squalling, occasionally blood- and pus-covered offspring - in fact, I find some of them downright adorable.

Most of us of the childfree persuasion do not recoil in horror at the sight of a binkie, nor do we bathe in the blood of unbaptized babies. We just, you know, dont want babies of our own. This doesnt mean we hate your babies, or cant remember what it was like being a kid, or have no real purpose in life.

But it does mean we occasionally get annoyed at all the strange things people say to us about our lifestyle choices. Thus, I give you a list of Six Strange Things People Say to Childfree-by-Choice People:

1.I thought I didnt want kids, too - but then I grew up.

Other versions of this include, Youll change your mind when you get older or Youll feel differently once youve matured. Or even, Oh youre just going through a phase.

This line of reasoning is scarily similar to things queer people often hear - its just a phase, youll get over it, youre just trying to be edgy/trendy.

But by declaring that your childfree friend will change his or her mind implies two things:

Of course, quite the opposite on both points is often true. Arriving at the decision to never have children - not just maybe not have children or well see about children - is a tough one that typically involves quite a bit of soul-searching and introspection. Not least of which because those of us who make this choice know we are going to be spending the rest of our childbearing years defending our choice.

The conclusion: Self-awareness is a hallmark of maturity, and it takes a lot of self-awareness to choose to remain childfree with eyes wide open. So there.

2. So you must really hate kids, then.

No. No, a thousand times no. Anytime I ever express with even a whiff of certainty to someone that I dont want children (nope, not even adopted ones! Just furry ones, OK?), the next time I speak to them I get gems like this one: So, I know you hate kids, but I was wondering if youd be OK if my niece hung out with us today?

Just to clarify: I said I didnt want to invite a tiny tyrant into my house to live, permanently, holding me hostage to "Blues Clues" and whatever else the kids are watching these days, every day, for the next 18 years. That is a far cry from kicking it with someones rad offspring every couple of weeks.

Just because I dont want a pet lizard or a pair of sky-high Manolos doesnt mean I hate either of those things. Lizards are super-cool! I like that they exist and I appreciate visiting them in the zoo or at friends houses, but I personally prefer a different sort of pet. Manolos are beautifully constructed shoes but alas, my feet just arent suited to that sort of life. Cest la vie - everyones different and differences are good!

3. Youre just selfish.

Despite this statement being a bitter, vitriolic insult, for some reason people feel comfortable saying it to my face when in the kid context. The thing is, no one would call me selfish if I had said, No, Id rather not lend you $241,080 youll never pay back, thanks. ($241,080 is the average cost to raise a child in 2013 according to CNN Money, by the way - and thats not including college tuition.)

So while refusing to lend your friends money or let a stranger borrow your car is just common sense, politely declining to live with and care for an expensive, time-consuming human being that you actually kinda-sorta-no-wait-really dont want? Thats just selfish! (Riiiight.)

If you think critically about it, not having kids - and all the vigilance that entails for many people - is actually a pretty unselfish choice. If you dont want to be a parent, you may not make a very good one in fact, you may wind up resentful and bitter, or even abusive (emotionally or physically).

The mythology surrounding parenthood - self-sacrifice, unpaid and often unappreciated hard labor - goes a long way to support the idea that childfree people are just selfish. But at its core, choosing to have children (and dedicate your life or large part of it to them) is a self-motivated - and therefore selfish - act.

Yes, parenting is hard. And it does require sacrifice and it is underappreciated - but that still doesnt make me selfish or wrong.

4. One day, itll just happen.

This phrase is magical thinking mixed with horrible euphemism, and leaves me feeling a little violated. Its so bizarrely perverted; if you dig beneath the surface, what the person is actually saying is this:

You say you dont want kids now, but one day all those preventative measures youre taking will inevitably fail, and BOOM! Youll have responsibility for a human being you never wanted! Isnt the miracle of life just incredible?

That's just messed up.

And: Saying this to straight people is bad enough. But saying it to queer people? Hilare. Believe it or not, Ive actually had people say this to me, and one day, when Ive had exactly the right amount of martini, Ill respond with: You do know how babies are made, right?

5. So, whats your purpose in life, then?

The idea that people without children have no purpose is deeply disturbing - not just personally, but on a philosophical level. Humor my "woah, dude" moment: If every humans greatest purpose in life is simply just to reproduce, then what are we? Mindless replicating machines? To what end? We have children so that they can have children so that they can have children and nothing anyone does outside of that has any value or worth? I dont want to live in this dystopian world.

It boggles my mind that there are people who think this way, but it comforts me to know that perhaps they havent thought too deeply on the subject. Even profoundly dedicated stay-at-home parents surely measure their worth and guide their lives by multiple criteria, just like the rest of us. Good partner, loving parent, rock-star entrepreneur, environmental activist, kick-ass sister, long-distance Frisbee champion - its a veritable smorgasbord of lifes-purpose choices out there, and limiting yourself to just one thing means youre going to get a heck of a lot less out of life than you otherwise could.

6. But wholl take care of you when youre old?

The state, duh.

I kid, I kid. But seriously, since when is everyones offspring required to sign a legally binding contract that they will care for their parents in their old age? American culture is such that counting on your kids to visit you more than once every few years at the nearest Qwik-E-Retire-Mart they abandoned you at in exchange for your signature on a living will is asking a lot.

I joke, but the state of elder care in our nation is in serious crisis. Sure, some peoples kids grow up to be responsible, caring adults who are financially sound and emotionally mature enough to care for aging parents. But, some peoples kids grow up to be deadbeats, or assholes, or too poor to be able to help much.

Counting on children as a retirement plan is a gamble at best. Best to make other plans, even if you do have kids.

I anticipate these sorts of comments will continue unabated until I hit menopause. Putting up with people questioning my motives and stick-tuitiveness is just a side effect of making a life choice thats a little out of the ordinary.

And thats fine - I feel pretty secure in the knowledge that not wanting my own children is not the same thing as being a heartless, selfish, baby-hating bon vivant. (Im just a regular bon vivant, thank you very much.)

I look forward to a life full of other peoples kids - and being one kick-ass aunt. But I still dont want my own babies - and theres nothing wrong with that.

The former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission said it was time to call a spade a spade, otherwise the torturous crimes would not be prevented.

He accused the BBC of trying to avoid being accused of stigmatising a community by failing to address the perpetrators in high profile cases in Newcastle and Rotherham were Muslims who would have claimed to be practising.

Instead, the BBC this week branded 18 people convicted of grooming and raping girls as young as 13-years-old in Newcastle an Asian gang.

This was an evasion of the truth, Mr Phillips said, adding it was time for people to accept these men are not just dark-skinned perverts.

In a comment piece for the Daily Telegraph, he said: It insults the largest single ethnic minority group in the UK - Hindu Indians who consider themselves Asian and the many East Asians who have the UK their home.

Neither group has been even remotely associated with these crimes.

What the perpetrators have in common is their proclaimed faith. They are Muslims, and many of them would claim to be practising.

It is not Islamophobic to point this out, any more than it would be racist to point out that the most active persecutors of LGBT people come from countries where most people are, like me, black.

If we are going to call a spade a spade, then we should do so without embarrassment. But our elites have replaced their old fear of being called racist with a new bogey. It comes to something when the BBC prefers to risk being condemned for racism than expose itself to the charge of Islamophobia.

He said it was not just Muslim gangs behind paedophilia, but said their motives were different.

He said: Most white abusers join paedophile rings in order to satisfy their sexual desire more easily. These gangs, in contrast, are motivated by greed, machismo and contempt for people not of their ethnicity.

These crimes will never be prevented unless and until we can speak openly about what is talking place.

Unfortunately, we still have some way to go.

Ted Nugent Claims ‘Political Correctness’ Is Keeping Him Out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Ultimate Classic Rock

Unlike a number of classic rock artists, Ted Nugent says hed happily accept induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but he says he knows itll never happen, thanks to the self-inflicted and embarrassing scourge of political correctness that permeates the institution from the top down.

Discussing the issue with Q103FM in Albany (during an interview that you can listen to above), Nugent pinpointed his affiliation with the NRA as the main factor keeping him out specifically because Rolling Stone co-founder and publisher Jann Wenner, described by the guitarist as the boss hog at the Rock Hall, hates the gun-rights advocacy group.

I couldnt be more proud of that, cause the NRA is the ultimate family, grassroots organization that fights for the right to defend ourselves. What kind of numb nut would be against that? queried Nugent. And so Im on the board of directors of the NRA, Jan Wenner hates the Second Amendment, so thats the only reason Im not in the Rock and Roll of Fame. And until they get their heads out of their ass, Im more than happy to do what I do and do it with all the vim and vigor that I do it every night.

That being said, Nugent responded with an enthusiastic hell yes when asked whether hed accept induction, and added that hes watched a lot of the induction ceremonies and found them so moving. Were he to eventually make the cut, Nugent said hed lead the crowd in a prayer for their rock n roll forebears a moment he sees as reflecting the Halls true purpose of paying tribute to the genres true greats.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is paying tribute and homage to geniuses who gave us the ultimate soundtrack for our American Dream, said Nugent. Im all in, man, Im genuinely moved, and Im glad there is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Until then, however, he added that hes happy to remain a member of the We the People Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a club hes entered by virtue of more than five decades and six thousand shows piled up over a long career. Hey, write this down, he quipped. My name is Ted Nugent. I am the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eat me!

The Fairfax County School Board has voted to change the name of historic J.E.B. Stuart High School. According to news reports, the vote was 7 to 2 with 2 abstentions. They succumbed to the winds of political correctness. But this is political correctness run amok.

The taxpaying voters of Fairfax County need to take a hard look at what kind of irresponsible do-gooders liberals they have been electing to the School Board.

The controversy over the name change has not been worth all the time, energy and money being expended. The school was named after J.E.B. Stuart in 1959 to commemorate his ties to nearby Munsons Hill in 1861. It was a simple nod to local Civil War history. The school has been around 58 years. It has produced such noteworthy pro football players as Mike Bragg, Roger Stillwell, and Charlie Garner. The schools football stadium is named after the late Jerry Fauls, the legendary coach there from 1959 to 1979. He must be turning over in his grave. It sets a bad precedent to change the name of a school. It destroys the culture of the local community.

Let me remind everyone of what happened in the City of Alexandria back in 2004. At that time the president of the NAACP chapter in Alexandria demanded the School Board change the name of T.C. Williams High School. The school opened in 1965 and it was named in honor of Mr. T.C. Williams, who served as Alexandrias superintendent of schools from the 1930s up through the early 1960s. This was during the time of state-mandated segregation. Because of this, some misguided individuals over the years have suggested it is inappropriate to have the school named after him. But the complaint by the NAACP president fell on deaf ears. People have an emotional attachment to the name of their school. Our mayor at that time was Bill Euille (who happens to be black). He graduated from T.C. Williams High School in the class of 1968 (the schools second graduating class). Mayor Euille did not want to change the name. Like most alumni and longtime residents of Alexandria, he had an emotional attachment to the name of T.C. Williams High. The school became even more famous because of the 2000 Disney hit movie, Remember the Titans. No serious discussion was ever held to consider changing the name. Obviously, the authorities in the City of Alexandria's have more common sense than the Fairfax County School Board

Speaking on his LBC show, Farage insisted that more had to be done to put a stop to grooming gangs.

The remarks came after a court hearing earlier this week which saw 17 men and one woman convicted of rape, sexual assault, human trafficking and inciting prostitution as the city of Newcastle.

The crimes add to the growing list of UK towns blighted by the evil grooming gangs.

Shadow women and equalities secretary Sarah Champion claimed Asian grooming gangs were allowed to thrive because people are more afraid to be called a racist than they are afraid to be wrong about calling out child abuse.

The Labour MP for Rotherham said it was time to acknowledge that the majority of perpetrators have been British-Pakistani in the towns where such grooming cases have occurred.

Farage said: These are racist crimes and it's been hidden for far too long in too many northern cities and a lot of elected political figures throughout the north of England in my view bear a very heavy responsibility.

But there's been a change of tone and today Sarah Champion has completely changed course.

Im pleased to say she makes it clear that predominantly these crimes and I'm quoting her not me come from men who are part of the Pakistani community and it's a pattern that we see over and over again.

The LBC host reiterated that he had been calling for a sensible conversation about the issue for years.

Farage finished: Goodness me it's taken us years to get to the point where we can even have an intelligent conversation about it.

Those prosecuted were from the Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, Iraqi, Iranian and Turkish communities and mainly British-born.

Most lived in the West End of Newcastle.

Today former Crown Prosecution Service chief Lord Macdonald of River Glaven said cases of Asian grooming gangs targeting white girls had not been looked into as they should have been.

He said: I think that's no longer the case and I think the fact that these sorts of cases are now being brought successfully demonstrates that those sorts of so-called taboos no longer exist - but I don't think any of us can pretend that in the past these cases have been examined as rigorously as they might have been.

Ken Macdonald said there had been past reluctance to look into Muslim men who had been targeting white girls.

But speaking on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4, Lord MacDonald said that was no longer the case after recent prosecutions.

The Liberal Democrat peer's comments come after 18 people were convicted of or admitted offences in a series of trials related to child sexual exploitation in Newcastle.

He said: "I think there has been in the past a reluctance to investigate a category of crime that people might believe attaches to a particular community in circumstances where men may be targeting young women.

He added he hoped attitudes towards young women in these cases had changed.

He said: There's obviously a serious issue about the way young women are regarded in these cases.

Regarded as trash, regarded as available for sex, and this seems to be a recurring theme - and I don't think anyone thinks now we've got it.

"This is a major problem, it's a major problem in particular communities and it has to be confronted not just by law enforcement but by communities themselves."

Lord Macdonald said he expected more cases and added he was sure there were ongoing investigations.

He said: "I think it's a real wake-up call for communities. Not all sex crime takes place in a single community, ofcoursewe knowthat,that's obvious.

"But there is a particular issue about some men in some communities who feel these young girls are trash who are available for sex.

"We all knowthat,we've seenitin this case, we've seen it in other cases, we know it's going on as we speak.

"Law enforcement has a response, the police have a response, prosecutors have a response, judges have a response, but communities need a response themselves."
