CARMAT Announces the First Implantation of Its Total Artificial Heart in Denmark – Business Wire

PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:

CARMAT (Paris:ALCAR) (FR0010907956, ALCAR), the designer and developer of the worlds most advanced total artificial heart, aiming to provide a therapeutic alternative for people suffering from end-stage biventricular heart failure, announces the first implantation of its bioprosthetic artificial heart in Denmark.

The implant procedure was performed by the team of Dr. Peter Skov Olsen, cardio-thoracic surgeon at the Heart Center of Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. It is the first Danish hospital to implant the CARMAT total artificial heart and the third international medical center contributing to the PIVOTAL study, together with the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, Czech Republic, and the National Research Center for Cardiac Surgery in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Finn Gustafsson, MD, PhD, Professor of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at the Heart Center and principal investigator of the study, comments: We are excited to gain clinical experience with the CARMAT artificial heart and to contribute to the PIVOTAL study. With its hemocompatibility, autoregulation and silent operation, the CARMAT TAH could become a real alternative treatment to heart transplantation for patients suffering from end-stage heart-failure.

Stphane Piat, Chief Executive Officer of CARMAT, adds: Rigshospitalet has developed a strong expertise in treating advanced heart failure and has participated in front-line clinical studies with innovative medical therapies and devices in this field. I am delighted that such an internationally recognized site becomes the third international center to implant our device. With the recent release of certain COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions, CARMATs teams and proctors were able to prepare and participate in the surgical procedure and early post-operative follow up. To date, 13 patients have received our device in the PIVOTAL study and, subject to the progressive ramp-up in recruitments across our three active study centers, we estimate that 4-5 months are needed to complete enrollment and reach the total of 20 patients.

In accordance with good clinical practice and subject to regulatory obligations or specific circumstances, CARMAT will not provide individual updates on patients implantations or their health condition. However, it is planning to communicate when major milestones in the PIVOTAL study are reached, such as the opening of new centers and the overall progression of patient recruitment.

About CARMAT: the worlds most advanced total artificial heart project

A credible response to end-stage heart failure: CARMAT aims to eventually provide a response to a major public health issue associated with heart disease, the worlds leading cause of death: chronic and acute heart failure. By pursuing the development of its total artificial heart, composed of the implantable bioprosthesis and its portable external power supply system to which it is connected, CARMAT intends to overcome the well-known shortfall in heart transplants for the tens of thousands of people suffering from irreversible end-stage heart failure, the most seriously affected of the 20 million patients with this progressive disease in Europe and the United States.

The result of combining two types of unique expertise: the medical expertise of Professor Carpentier, known throughout the world for inventing Carpentier-Edwards heart valves, which are the most used in the world, and the technological expertise of Airbus Group, world aerospace leader.

The first physiological artificial heart: given its size, the use of highly biocompatible materials, its unique self-regulation system and its pulsatile nature, the CARMAT total artificial heart could, assuming the clinical trials are successful, potentially save the lives of thousands of patients each year with no risk of rejection and with a good quality of life.

A project leader acknowledged at a European level: with the backing of the European Commission, CARMAT has been granted the largest subsidy ever given to an SME by Bpifrance; a total of 33 million.

Strongly committed, prestigious founders and shareholders: Matra Dfense SAS (subsidiary of the Airbus Group), Professor Alain Carpentier, the Centre Chirurgical Marie Lannelongue, Truffle Capital, a leading European venture capital firm, ALIAD (Air Liquides venture capital investor), CorNovum (an investment holding company held 50-50 by Bpifrance and the French State), the family offices of Pierre Bastid (Lohas), of Dr. Antonino Ligresti (Sant Holdings S.R.L.), of the Gaspard family (Corely Belgium SPRL and Bratya SPRL) and of M. Pierre-Edouard Strin (BAD 21 SPRL), Groupe Therabel as well as the thousands of institutional and individual shareholders who have placed their trust in CARMAT.

‘Snitch list:’ Trolls harass those who reported Covid-19 business violations in Washington state – KUOW News and Information

In late March, Washington state officials launched an online portal to report non-essential businesses operating despite Gov. Jay Inslee's order that they close.

But some people have received threats and harassment after filing reports and having their personal information released by the state.

Among the complaints to the state:

A Kirkland woman reported on March 30 that an alternative medicine business was open and advertising an intravenous drip that could supposedly boost ones immune system against the coronavirus.

A man, concerned about a Redmond coffee shop inside a QFC that remained open, filed a report using the portal a day later.

And in Seattle, a business owner watched as customers visited a spa next door to his yoga studio, which hed closed to clients. He submitted a report, he told KUOW, because he thought the longer non-essential businesses remained open, the longer the Covid-19 pandemic would persist.

These reports were among thousands submitted to the state regarding the alleged operation of non-essential businesses, against Inslees stay-at-home order. The measure is intended to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

These three individuals told KUOW they didnt realize their names and contact information would be subject to public disclosure. A fourth person said she didnt believe anyone besides state officials would go through the trouble of obtaining the complaints.

Related: Violate stay-at-home order and risk arrest or having business license revoked, state officials say

Many discovered that wasnt the case when they received a mysterious email on May 6, warning that their personal information was being circulated online. The email was sent by treamaiden@gmail.com, which appears to now be defunct.

You may or may not have recently sent a complaint to Jay Inslee of Washington state," the email reads. "Recently I came across your information by what I believe may have been a leak of everyone who turned in a business.

Ten minutes later, harassing phone calls came rolling in for the Kirkland woman, who asked not to be named in this story, citing concern for her personal safety. Kirkland was the first hot spot identified amid the U.S. coronavirus outbreak.

Some of the emails and voicemails were mean-spirited, others threatening.

I just got news that you knocked on my business," said a male caller with a seemingly affected New Jersey accent. "You got 48 hours to get the f--- out of Washington, or Im coming for you and your loved ones.

Warning: This voice record includes offensive language.

You liberal f------ c---, I hope you choke on the f------ virus, said a woman with the cadence of someone who might live in northern Washington. Im so glad its public disclosure.

Warning: This recording includes offensive language.

Those who reported potential violations found themselves on what would become known as the snitch list. The document, which contains names, phone numbers, email addresses, and the complaints themselves, was shared within politically fueled Facebook groups.

KUOW is not naming the complainants in question, as they have requested not to be identified out of concern for their safety.

It was a lot. It was really scary and stressful, the Kirkland woman said, recounting the numerous voicemails and emails that she received. I was just trying to be a good person. I thought my information was protected.

By reporting businesses to the state, these complainants unwittingly found themselves in the middle of a conflict between right-wing groups advocating against business closures and state officials who argue the shutdown is necessary to curb the pandemic.

The "snitch list" was requested 19 times before the warning email was sent to the Kirkland woman on May 6. Several media outlets, individuals, and people who listed themselves as lawyers asked for the document using public disclosure requests.

The document is now housed on a website run by conservative activist Glen Morgan, who lives on a farm in Thurston County. On his website, Morgan calls the document the list of Inslees informant army.

Within the first four days of it being posted, 6,500 people downloaded the spreadsheet containing the complaints and contact information of those who filed them. Morgan said he posted the list as a matter of transparency and habit.

"I will never write an article unless I absolutely have to that doesn't have the original source-linked documents that I'm referencing," he said. "If you look at the other articles that I write, I mean I put up hundreds of original source links usually government documents on a monthly basis."

Morgan told KUOW he doesnt condone the harassment that has resulted from the list circulating online. He said the culprits behind the intimidation should be identified and exposed. Still, he doesn't intend to remove the list from his website.

When asked if he would feel responsible if someone on the list were to be harmed, Morgan said No but I think the state should be.

As he sees it, state officials created a hostile situation.

"It's certainly not a good way to build the harmony in the community or, you know, really achieve anything other than just pitting neighbor against neighbor," Morgan said.

I mean, that's something that you would find more in like an Eastern Germany spy novel, you know or China, he said.

Today, the online complaint portal gives this warning: All of the information collected at this site is considered public information. All of the information collected at this site is public information that will be publicly released in a public records request per RCW 42.56.

This disclaimer had been on the website, which linked to the form, but not on the form itself. This meant that people who Googled the form, or accessed the form through a media outlet, would not have seen the disclaimer.

Governor's Office spokesperson Mike Faulk said officials "strongly condemn" the harassment resulting from the circulation of complainants' personal information.

"The treatment people have been subjected to is unacceptable and repugnant," Faulk said by email. "It is extremely troubling that people who were trying to keep their communities healthy were subjected to this."

He said the harassment has not discouraged people from submitting complaints through the online portal, to the surprise of state officials. However, more of the reports are being filed anonymously now.

Meanwhile, the Seattle yoga studio owner said he's not satisfied.

"I support what our governor is doing," he said. "I'm very disappointed in him just kind of brushing this aside when ... people being threatened is also a matter of public health. "

The harassing phone calls and emails the Kirkland woman received have died down for now. But the experience has left her shaken.

I would never provide contact information ever again for anything, she said. I literally thought this was completely anonymous and Im trying to be a good person. And now Im afraid for my life.

Alkaline Water: How It Is The Key to Boost Your Immunity – NDTV Food

Immunity booster drink: Alkaline water may provide many health benefits.

Highlights

The current Coronavirus pandemic has left everyone searching for answers. While the world struggles to find a medicinal solution, it is clearer than ever that we must focus on boosting our immunity- a seemingly simple yet one of the most effective preventive solutions against any infection or flu. While reading umpteen number of articles on different 'superfoods' and supplements that can boost our immune system, what we generally miss considering is probably the most essential part of our day-to-day existence - alkaline water.

While consumers in general have become more health conscious over the years, many of them are still not aware if the water they drink daily is fit for consumption. Majority of the households seem to be satisfied with a simple Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purifier in their homes, which in turn, drains water of many minerals that are essential for the body, lowers it pH and thus renders it acidic leading to a bitter tasting, corrosive water that is unfit for drinking.

The solution lies in relooking at water purification in its entirety. To be more precise, it is time to turn to Alkaline Water- a significant step towards boosting the immune system.

Alkaline water helps boost immunity and enhances hydration.

To begin with, alkaline water when introduced in the body neutralises the acidic toxins present in the body. Overabundance of these toxins essentially means that the body must work overtime to maintain healthy functions- resulting in lethargy and overall weakness. Alkaline water, which is easily absorbed in the body allows for a more efficient system of flushing the toxins and harmful substances out of the body. Alkaline water is also known to improve the performance of one's circulatory system, which means better blood quality and more oxygen to vital organs.

Additionally, drinking alkaline water hinders the growth of free radicals in the body that can fasten the ageing process. As per a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, a significant difference in the whole blood viscosity of participants was observed after consuming alkaline water as opposed to regular water after a strenuous workout. According to a study published in Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, alkaline water provides higher longevity in terms of "deceleration aging factor" as it increases the survival functions.

(Also Read:How to Make Alkaline Water at Home)

Alkaline water is fortified with a range of essential minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium and trace elements like copper, zinc etc. that are essential for maintaining body's metabolism. A study published in the Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine showed that consumption of alkaline water may prevent osteoporosis and protect pancreatic beta cells with its antioxidant effects. Yet another study published in Public Library of Science (PLOS) said that drinking alkalised water enhances hydration, improves acid-base balance and anaerobic exercise performance. People who drink alkaline water claim that it provides greater hydration than regular water. Since many people suffer from dehydration, especially so in warmer climates, drinking alkaline water may be an effective way to keep the body well hydrated.

There are many other known benefits of drinking alkaline water, such as stronger bones and weight loss. All the benefits above collectively prepare the immune system to battle foreign pathogens and protect you from many diseases and health issues.

Coronavirus related conspiracy theories spread across the internet – The Yucatan Times

Depending on who you talk to, the current coronavirus pandemic might be the natural product of evolution, the result ofa lab accidentor a biological weapon designed by the Chinese. Lockdown measures to impose social distancing restrictions are responsible measures designed to protect public safety or theyre part of a Democratic Party plot to destroy the economy in order to diminish President Trumps chances of reelection in November. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nations top infectious disease specialist, is either a respected medical professional ordevious member of the deep statewho is using the coronavirus (which he may or may not have helped create) to control the public through amandatory vaccination.

And those are just some of the narratives that are spreading within the United States.

In countries around the world, equally implausible ideas are circulating, derived in part from their particular political and historical situations, but also cross-pollinating with a wide array of conspiracy theories, misinformation and state-sponsored content, ranging from blatant propaganda to more subtle disinformation campaigns. In some cases, the dearth of verifiable information has resulted in the spread of misinformation by fairly reputable and well-intentioned sources. The coronavirus infodemic, however, has allowed a host of malign actors from the Russian government to domestic extremists to scam artists peddling bogus cures to exploit existing societal fissures for their own political or personal gain.

All of that just contributes to this massive, unstoppable flow of information that would be impossible to contend with even for the most resilient society, said Nina Jankowicz, a fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C.

In fact, Jankowicz told Yahoo News that other than in countries such as Turkmenistan, where the government has imposeda complete clampdownon any and all information related to the coronavirus, I cant imagine a country that would have no proliferation of conspiracy theories or disinformation at this time.

Disinformation feeds on anxiety and promotes emotional and irrational responses. I think its a common misconception that disinformation creates some sort of new feeling in people, Jankowicz says. Often its really weaponizing preexisting feelings, or certainly amplifying them.

So the anti-vax groups, for instance, are going to be more likely to buy into this narrative about the vaccine being somehow an instrument for global control. The folks who are distrustful of the United States, whether thats in the Middle East, or in China, or Russia, are going to be pawns of their nations propaganda machines.

You can see that phenomenon at work in internet metadata. In aninterview with Politicolast month, Joel Meyer of Predata, a predictive analytics firm, said that since the beginning of the pandemic, his firm has observed an increase in traffic from Persian and Hindi-language internet users to websites that are critical of Western medicine and promote alternative healing methods, including unproven supplements. At the same time, Meyer said that in European languages, including French, German and Italian, anti-vaxxer attention has really spiked recently.

Were seeing interest rise to unprecedented levels in alternative medicines and treatments, he told Politico, concluding that, based on the analytics, that type of disinformation is sinking in, its having an effect.

Im so grateful and I honestly believe that more doctors should be studying this

After learning to chart her monthly cycle and with clinical support from Dr Nguyen, she fell pregnant within a month with Charli-Rose. She is convinced that without Dr Nguyens support throughout both of her pregnancies they would not have succeeded.

Im so grateful and I honestly believe that more doctors should be studying this and providing this to people because it does work, she said. I tell all my friends that have PCOS and things like that it doesnt mean you cant have a baby.

I was looking for something more natural, she said. Then when I got marriedwe were also looking at using it forachieving and avoiding pregnancy.

Mrs Silveirasaid she learnt inone or two sessionshow to track and record her monthly cycle, andit tooka month of practice to becomeconfident in using the method.

With the integrated care of Merrylands Dr VeronicaOConnellshe was able to alleviate the effectsof her disease and after using it to try to fall pregnant was successful after the first month. Like MrsKeesing-Goldsmith she wascarefully monitoredby her GPthroughout the nine months.

Technical Glitches and Lawsuit Dampen Experiment With Remote AP Tests – Education Week

The nation's first-ever remote Advanced Placement exams are going on this week, amid complaints about technical glitches, a lawsuit, and concerns about potential cheating.

The College Board is reporting, however, that after the first few days of testing, most students were able to complete and submit their exams, with less than 1 percent of the 2.9 million test-takers being unable to do so. The board has said it considers the small percentage of incomplete tests a success for such anunprecedented testing experience.

But it wasn't enough to dissuade students, families, and test-equity advocates from filing a lawsuit seeking that the organization score the answers of those who couldn't submit their exams during the first week of testing, as well as over $500 million in compensatory damages and an unset figure in punitive damages.

The biggest concern for many of the test-takers who were unable to submit their tests is that they must take them again.

Sixteen-year-old Dominic Verry, a junior at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky., encountered difficulties with uploading photo submissions of his work for his AP Calculus BC exam, which he had been preparing for since late February.

Verry initially tried to submit photos of his work from his phone, then from his laptop. Nothing worked, however, and the test eventually timed out. He said he'll have to retake the exam in June.

"I felt really good about this exam," Verry said. "I felt it was the best work that I had done in a while, so I was pretty mad when I couldn't turn it in."

What happened to Verry is not an anomaly among students who weren't able to submit their AP exams, as swarms of complaints and concerns regarding similar technical issues had been presented on social media and to the College Board over the course of the first week of testing.

Other technical errors include not being able to submit answers when the time for a question ran out, problems logging into the testing platform, and issues with Internet connectivity.

In response to the many reports, the College Board introduced a back-up submissions process on Sunday meant to provide students who are unable to submit their exam through the standard process with the ability to email their submissions instead.

Effective since Monday, the new process will be available for students throughout the remaining testing dates and through the makeup period. To ensure the security and validity of exams, however, students who couldn't submit their exams during the first week will have to wait until June to benefit from this option.

JoonWoo Park, 16, is another junior from Paul Laurence Dunbar who, like Verry, was unable to submit his answers for the AP Calculus BC exam. After having to adjust to the rapid switch to online learning for his regular schoolwork earlier this year, Park had been looking forward to finishing up his school year after taking this test and two other exams.

Park said that he understood that this was the College Board's first try at online testing and that problems were expected to happen, but he's still not too thrilled about having to continue studying for another test even after school ends.

"I'm glad that there's a second chance, but I'm not looking forward to taking it again," Park said. "It's just stressful. After my last exam, I thought I would be done with school."

In Franklin, Tenn., Paige LaRock, 16, a junior at Battle Ground Academy, is also not looking forward to retaking her AP Chemistry exam well after the last day of classes, which was last Friday. The summer has already begun for most of her friends, while she'll have to continue preparing for her exam.

LaRock was unable to submit photos of her work for the first part of the exam before time ran out.

"I took pictures of my test and sent it to my laptop," LaRock said. "They downloaded to my laptop, but nothing would upload onto the College Board website. I exhausted every option, and nothing would work."

In response to the new backup submissions feature, LaRock added that "there should have been a backup plan put in place at the beginning."

The technical problems came on top of early concerns about potential cheating, as students took the tests at home rather than in supervised school settings.

Right before testing began, Trevor Packer, the College Board's head of Advanced Placement and instruction, announced that a ring of students had been barred from registering for the AP exams on Twitter, after it was discovered they were planning to cheat. Critics said the organization's focus seemed to lie more on the potential for student cheating rather than on ensuring that the exams would fair, equitable, and technically sound.

"The College Board rushed 'untested' AP computerized exams into the marketplace in order to preserve the testing company's largest revenue-generating program after schools shut down this spring, even though they were warned about many potential access, technology and security problems," said Bob Schaeffer, interim executive director of the advocacy group FairTest, in a press release announcing the lawsuit on Wednesday.

While the College Board could now be facing more appreciable consequences for any technical defects, student advocates are worried some of the same problems will plague SAT exams administered by the organization later this year.

"It blows my mind that they just forget the fact that they're mission is to be supporting and providing opportunities to students," said Merrit Jones, president of the advocacy group Student Voice. "I just don't think that they're putting students' needs first."

Amazon Video: Will There Be A Season 2 Of ‘Upload’? – TV Shows Ace

Amazon Video dropped all ten episodes ofUploadSeason 1 into their streaming library at the beginning of May. Now that we are nearing the end of May, most have had plenty of time to watch all ten episodes of this truly binge-able series. The question is Will there be a Season 2 ofUpload? Fortunately, weve done a little digging. Heres everything you need to know about Season 2 ofUpload.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Season 1 of Upload.

If you have an Amazon Prime membershipUploadis a series you want to check out. This is especially true if you happen to like the series calledThe Good Place. Believe it or not, a lot of fans ofThe Good Placewere hesitant to watch this series. They assumed it would be a cheap knock-off. The series, however, does a pretty impressive job of standing on its own.

Uploadis a series that takes a dystopian spin on the after life. The series follows the idea that when you are on your death bed you have the option of uploading to a virtual community. This is because the series sees people as computers. The hope is that one day they will be able to take the data and download it onto a copy of a persons body. They do make an attempt at downloading during Season one And, spoiler alert, it doesnt go well.

The series followers the life of main character Nathan Brown (played by Robbie Amell). Nathan gets into a car accident during the first episode. His on-again, off-again girlfriend at the time makes the decision for him to upload when he arrives at the hospital. Uploaded to the most expensive afterlife Nathan meets his angel Nora Antony (played by Andy Allo). The duo quickly form a forbidden connection.

Nora, however, realizes something isnt right with Nathan. She notices he has memories missing. And, they quickly discover he was murdered. Nathan is a character with one of those personalities fans do not care for at the beginning of the series. He, however, grows on you.

Season 1 ends on a pretty tragic and mind bending cliff hanger. So, the desire for another Season makes sense.

According toDeadline, Amazon renewedUploadfor a Season 2 within a week of dropping the series into their library. Considering the way Season 1 ended And the fact that it was only 10 episodes long, this doesnt come as too much of a shock to those who have watched Season 1.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, shares her thoughts on Upload with Deadline.

In Upload, Greg Daniels delivered a smart, cinematic comedy crackling with intrigue and it has clearly delighted our customers who have spent a lot of time in Lakeview this past week. We know our global fans want to see the next chapter with Nathan and Nora so we are greenlighting Season Two and are excited that Gregs passion project has found such a devoted audience.

Executive producer Greg Daniels is thrilled by the opportunity to move forward with Season 2. Heres what he had to say about it:

I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world. With this news I can stop drawing my season 2 flip book.

Uploadis a series that has been in the making for a long time. Greg Daniels revealed toDigital Spythat he originally pitched the idea for the series back in 2015. At the time, he had plans for two seasons.

When I pitched it, which was literally back in 2015, I had two seasons broken, and the pitch. I think I could see extending it past that, but at the moment, we are writing a second season. Well see how things are affected by recent events. But yeah, no, its not meant to only be 10 episodes. But its also probably not meant to be 100 episodes.

While Daniels admitted that he was open to the series extending past two seasons, he didnt have plans for that. Moreover, he did confirm he didnt want seasons to be longer than 10 episodes.

In addition to Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, fans expect Allegra Edwards to return as Ingrid and Barclay Hope to return as her father Oliver. Moreover, the end of Season 1 did put down a foundation for Season 2. To say the least, it certainly left fans with a lot of questions.

For the most part, fans are pretty supportive of the relationship between Nathan and Nora. So, they certainly want to see that work out. Season 1 ended with Ingrid appearing in Nathans 2G room. Nathan is frozen because he used all his data up talking on the phone to Nora. Ingrid adds data to him and reveals that she uploaded to be with him. Nathan freaks out so badly that he uses an entire gig of data and freezes again.

The Season ends with a lot of questions. Did Ingrid commit suicide to be with Nathan? Was she killed because she knew too much? Would she fish Nathan out of the 2G life?

Unfortunately, things are a little dicey with producing new episodes of shows right now. COVID-19 has production for all TV shows and movies shut down. So, it may be a while before we see a Season 2. Moreover, it is important to keep in mind that Season 1 just dropped into the library. So, it wouldnt be unfounded for the release date to not be until May of 2021. With COVID-19 delaying things, however, fans could end up waiting even longer.

Tips On Successfully Surviving The National Visa Center Process – caribbeannationalweekly.com

The family immigration process often takes many years waiting in line and then finally, once an immigrantvisa becomes available, the National Visa Center (NVC) and U.S. Consulate begin final processing for your relative, ending in the immigrant visa consular interview appointment and thereafter immigrating to the U.S.

However, even after waiting all those years, the final processing steps themselves can be very intimidating and stressful.

This quickoverview of the process, along with a few tips to keep in mind, should help youproperly provide the required documentation so as not to delay your relatives consular interview.

To initiate final consular processing, most sponsors receive a notification email from the NVC called a Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation which gives the case number, ID and link to login to the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) to initiate the process.

Here are the basic steps in the process:

1) Pay NVC Bills: The first step is to pay the consular fees to begin the process. Fees are currently $445 per person or $325 per person and $120 for family.

2) Submit Affidavit of Support and supporting documents: Once the fees are paid, the next step is for the sponsor to immediately submit the completed, signed form I-864 Affidavit of Support, current tax return. W-2, pay stubsand proof of residency or citizenship through the CEAC system. Failure to quickly provide the required financial documents will result in delay of the case.

3) Complete the DS260 Immigrant Visa Application: At this stage, the immigrating family members must complete the DS260 form for each person and submit.

4) Civil Documents: All immigrants are required to submit certain civil documents, including birth and marriage certificates, divorce decrees, passport biographic page, police certificate, passport photos, criminal records, etc. These documents must be carefully scanned and uploaded through the CEAC system for each immigrating family member.

5) NVC Review: Once the documents are submitted, it can take up to 60 days for the NVC to review the documents. If documents submitted are not clear or scanned improperly, they are rejected, and the sponsor/immigrant will receive an email notification to log in and replace such documents with properly scanned versions.

6) Consular Interview: Once the NVC finds all the documentation is acceptable, the NVC will email notification that the case is complete. The next step is to wait for notification from the consulate. Within about 30 days the U.S. Consulate will send a notification email with date and time of the interview, along with instructions on scheduling the required medical examination and listing documentation to bring to the medical exam and consular interview.

Its important to understand the NVC process can be completed in as little as 60 days if the case is properly prepared and submitted. If not, the process can be delayed for many months causing immigrating family members to remain in limbo for no good reason. In some cases, I have had new clients come to me over six months into the process exasperated and ready to give up after having previously repeatedly tried to do the case themselves. In addition to sponsors being unsure of which documents are required and unfamiliar with the CEAC system, the main delays are usually caused by documents being uploaded which do not meet the requirements.

Heres a few document tips:

Rule #1, never use your cell phone to take a picture of a document, all documents must be scanned at a clear resolution using a scanner and saved as a pdf. Pics taken with cell phones will be rejected.

Rule #2, always make sure the document you are scanning is upright on the page, since documents scanned sideways or upside-down will be rejected.

Rule #3, make sure to scan the entire document so that all sides are fully showing. Scans of documents which are cut off will be rejected. For instance, if a birth certificate has stamps, but the scanned page cuts a portion of the stamp off, the document will be rejected. Similarly, if a document is on oversized paper and the scan cuts off the bottom of the document, it will be rejected. The best approach is to take oversized documents to Office Depot or asimilar store and have them reduced to letter size.

Rule #4, reduce the size of the PDF before uploading. The maximum size is 2 mb. Many documents with multiple pages scanned on copiers and printers will easily go over 2 mb, so youll need to use a PDF program which allows you to reduce the PDF size.

Rule #5, documents which are in the same language as the country from which the family members are immigrating do not need English translations. For instance, if an immigrant is from Colombia and all his/her documents are in Spanish, no English translations are required to be submitted.

Finally, remember every time you submit or resubmit documents, it can take the NVC up to 30-60 days to review them. This can cause frequent delays. The best approach is to carefully prepare the documents, review the scans to make sure they meet each and every specification before uploading and submitting, then check your emails frequently in case the NVC issues a request for resubmission on one or more documents, so that you can take care of it immediately.

Have The Royals Found Another Rule 5 Gem? – The Union Journal

After picking Joakim Soria out of the Padres ranch system in the 2006 Rule 5 Draft, maybe suggested that the Royals are still in the playing with house money honeymoon stage of the Rule 5 procedure. After all, also landing a Rule 5 gamer that can stick on a Major League lineup for a whole period is a success, dont bother touchdown a two-time All-Star like Soria via his 2007-11 prime time as Kansas Citys closer.

Eleven years after composing Soria, it looks like the Royals once more advanced using the Rule 5 procedure. While Brad Keller has yet to get to All-Star degrees, the right-hander has actually currently delighted in sufficient success over his very first 2 MLB periods that he appears like a strong foundation for a young K.C. group.

Keller was an eighth-round choice for the Diamondbacks in the 2013 draft, as well as via 5 professional periods had actually assembled some suitable yet unimpressive numbers in the Arizona ranch system. Over 130 1/3 innings for Double- A Jackson in 2017, Keller published a 4.68 PERIOD, 7.6 K/9, as well as 1.95 K/BB price, which had not been fairly adequate for him to qualify among something of a 40- guy lineup problem for the DBacks

Coming off a 93- win period as well as a NLDS look in 2017, the Diamondbacks were concentrated on making use of much of their offered 40- guy rooms on gamers that can possibly offer prompt aid in 2018, as GM Mike Hazen discussed to the Arizona Republics Nick Piecoro 2 years earlier. Our precursors suched as[Keller] We liked him, Hazen stated. We made the aware choice not to include him as a result of where he remained in distance to the Major League group, where we remained in the cycle, what we wished to utilize our 40- guy areas for, we wished to be hostile in the offseason in declaring men that were closer to the major leagues in our mind.

So, the DBacks left Keller unguarded in December 2017 draft, as well as it really did not take wish for another group to catch the right-hander. However, that group had not been really the Royals, whose place in the Rule 5 draft order really did not drop up until the #18 place that year. Instead it was the Reds that took Keller with the 5th choice, and after that without delay dealt him to Kansas City for money factors to consider. (The Royals turned a comparable relocation simply one choice later on, getting 6th choice Burch Smith for money from the Mets after New York picked Smith out of Tampa Bays ranch system.)

Smith additionally wound up investing the whole 2018 period on the K.C. lineup, though he was let go after uploading a 6.92 PERIOD over 78 innings. Keller, on the various other hand, was a lot more of a prompt success. After uploading a 2.01 PERIOD over his very first 22 1/3 structures of job out of Kansas Citys bullpen in 2018, Keller was advertised to the turning as well as remained to prosper. The righty had a 3.28 PERIOD over his 20 begins, starting out 83 batters (versus 43 strolls) over 118 innings.

Kellers student year had not been fairly as remarkable, though he still handled a rather decent 4.19 PERIOD, 1.74 K/BB, as well as 6.6 K/9 over 165 1/3 structures, all as a participant of the Royals turning. It can be suggested that Keller was possibly privileged to take care of that 4.19 mark, as some PERIOD forecasters (4.94 xFIP, 5.23 SIERA) were substantially greater, as well as batters made a lot more strong agreement off him in 2019 than in2018 The Statcast metrics additionally took a dark sight of Kellers 2019 efficiency, with a lot of blue as in, below-average numbers for Keller in contrast to various other bottles in leave speed, xwOBA, strikeout percent, as well as a number of various other classifications.

That stated, progressed metrics do not often tend to prefer low-strikeout hurlers like Keller that concentrate on maintaining the sphere on the ground. Among bottles with a minimum of 300 innings threw over the last 2 periods, Keller has the most affordable (8.4%) crowning achievement price in baseball, as well as the second-highest (52%) ground ball price. These impressive numbers are especially beneficial in this age of the vibrant sphere, as well as Keller can better gain from some boosted protection behind him, need to Maikel Franco offer any type of kind of upgrade at 3rd base.

All informed, 4.8 fWAR over 2 periods currently stands for a really wonderful return on the Royals first small money investment toCincinnati Keller does not transform 25 up until July, as well as he does not get to adjudication qualification up until this coming offseason, placing him under the Royals control via the 2023 project. Under regular conditions, Keller can be a gamer the Royals may have currently secured to an agreement expansion, as well as while all expansion talks are stopped under the present deals ice up, it would not be a shock if K.C. started some talks with Kellers reps when routine company comes back underway.

While really significant Rule 5 Draft success tales are reasonably rare nowadays, a group just requires to appeal one choice to make the business beneficial. Finding a major league ability for practically absolutely nothing is a win for any type of group, as well as if that ability is a mid-20s beginning bottle that appears like he can await a minimum of the center of a major league turning, the Royals obtained an useful increase to their newest restoring initiative.

HSE will be guided by NPHET advice on 2m rule – Reid – RTE.ie

The Chief Executive of the Health Service Executive has said onemetresocial distancing would give the health service greater capacity, but it will be guided by the National Public Health Emergency Team's advice.

Paul Reid said NPHET guidance is for two-metresocial distancing and that is what the HSE is planning in terms of framework for new services to work through.

He said thisdoes have implicationsin terms of capacity in emergency departments, outpatient clinics and waiting rooms for example.

At a briefing this morning, he said there is "no doubt" one-metre distancing would give significant extra capacity in managing services, but the executive will be guided by the current NPHET guidance.

Chief Clinical Officer for the HSEDr Colm Henrysaidon 27 March we were facing the "spectreof uncontrolled communitytransmission" of the virus, but the stringent measures introduced, including the two-metresocial distance rule, have allowed us to bring the 'R'figure (effective reproduction)down to 0.5.

He said that bearing in mind this is a droplet spread illness, the guidance was based on theprojected length a droplet can spread.

He saidinitiallywe thought the virus was spread primarily through coughing and sneezing, but as we learn moreabout it,we are more aware of how less obviously it can spread from people who are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic.

Dr Henry said the two-metrerule is governed by the decisions of NPHET "and how they're advised based on best international advice" and alsofrom those countries who are emergingout of the initialstage of thepandemic

Meanwhile, LabourleaderAlan Kelly has called onMinister for Health Simon Harris to carry out an audit on the impact of changing the social distancing rules to one metre would have on the health service.

In a statement, hesaid there was now a clear divergence between the World Health Organization and the Government.

An expert in infectious disease at the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland said the two-metresocial distancing rule is likely to remain in place, as it is the best advice from the European Centre for Disease Control.

Speaking on RT's This Week, Professor Sam McConkey said the distance between people is one of a number of key measures taken to reduce the spread of the virus.

He said that the Irish authorities are following the ECDC advice, which is specific to European countries and that there is "a lot of wisdom in pooling our knowledge across countries".

He said World Health Organization advice, which calls for a one-metre minimum, is based on a global picture.

Prof McConkey said that until there is zero emergence of cases that are unexplained in the community, restrictions, including social distancing, would continue.

He said we have fewer and fewer deaths and cases each day and most of these are in "known chains of transmissions" such as in meat factories or households.

He said there are a range of other measures that could be changed to make the restrictions easier on people, such as re-opening schools and creches.

He also said a scheme in New Zealand whereby a number of groups or families can form a mini-bubble or cocoon and socialise together, while remaining apart from others could be considered.

He said this would allow both children and parents in those groups to interact and allow a merging of family groups.

Govt asked to explain social distance stance

On the same programme, the Restaurants Association of Ireland called for the Government to explain why it has "changed" in moving away from WHO advice on social distancing guidelines.

RAI CEO Adrian Cummins said with 34 days to go until they re-open, restaurant owners want guidelines on social distancing to be reissued.

He said the difference between one and two metres of social distance would see many restaurants unable to reopen as they could only operate at 20-25% per cent capacity and would be loss making.

Mr Cummins said "we went into the crisis along WHO guidelines and somewhere along the journey we have changed to Irish guidelines".

He said countries including Austria, Finland and Norway have moved to a one-metre rule and "if we don't have this conversation" there will be thousands of jobs at risk.

David Fitzsimons from Retail Excellence Ireland said the social distancing guidelines are "inferior to every other country" and his sector is concerned that it will make retail operations difficult once "pent-up demand" is seen on shop floors.

HSE to complete non-Covid treatment framework

The Health Service Executive has said a framework will befinalisedin the coming weeks to see how to safely resume non-Covidhealthcare services in the current environment.

Mr Reid said there are more than900 vacant beds in hospitals, down from 2,500, which shows an increase in non-Covid activity.

There are 51 people in ICU being treated for Covid-19, which is down 68% from the peak in early April.

He said the speed of testing has increased with 98% of tests returning with a negative result and results are returning in less than two days.

310,000 tests have been completed and 35,000 swab tests were completed.

MrReid said mass testing of nursing homes in now complete and is nearing completion in mental disability settings and the automatic testing of close contacts of confirmed cases is also under way.

The briefing was told that the HSE planned to carry out antibody testing in June to try to measure the level of the disease in the population.

It was expected most people who had the disease would develop an antibody response, which would provide some level of protection but results in other countries had shown low levels in communities.

He said a report into the Mater Hospital has concluded and found it did meet all its obligations on reporting of cases and all testing and tracing was completed properly.

The report makes recommendations about the validation of data and assurances have been given by all hospitals about correct uploading of data.

Increase in emergency department activity

Anne O'Connor, the chief operations officer of the HSE, said activity at emergency departments has risen, with more over 75s being admitted through emergency departments in the last week.

She said a total of 20,177 people attended emergency departments last week, up 2% attendance on last week but still lower than this time last year.

MsO'Connor said an "attend anywhere" teleservice is being looked at, continuing virtual consultations as these clinics are being used more andvirtual consultations for outpatients will be built on over the coming months as people are very keen to engage in this way.

She said there is now 90% occupancy in acute hospitals and there were409 delayed discharges of patients to nursing homes.

MsOConnor said there is a significant numberof daycarecases in private hospitals, which are getting busier andmore use of in-patient beds in private hospitals, which are now at 50% occupancy - and at 80% occupancy for day cases.

She said Covid-19 is not going to disappear so we need to ensure we have capacity at our hospitals.

Sheadded thatthe community assessment hubs are being looked at to see how quieter hubs can best be used to support services.

Around 80% of cases of Covid-19 will be a mild to moderate illness, close to 14% have severe disease and around 6% are critical.

Generally, you need to be 15 minutes or more in the vicinity of an infected person and within 2 metres of them, to be considered at-risk, or a close contact.

People feeling vulnerable urged to seek help

The HSE's clinical advisor to the National Office for Suicide Prevention said the Covid-19 pandemic will see new groups of people having mental health challenges for the first time and he urged anyone feeling vulnerable to seek help.

Dr Philip Dodd, a consultant psychiatrist and clinical professor at UCD, said that people who are cocooning or those who are worried about their jobs or health may need some extra psychological supports.

He said the majority of thepopulation can and will adjust to the new Covid-19 environment andclinical research shows that people are becoming less worried and settling after the initial arrival of the virus in Ireland.

He said mental health services are still accessible despite being interrupted by Covid-19 demands and there are new tele-health options such as online, text and phone supports that have been used by many people for the first time.

Anyone with new concerns about their mental health is urged to contact their GP or in an emergency to attend their lcoal emergency departments.

A Guide to TikTok Best Practice in 2020 – The Future of Things

Keen to make an impact with your videos on the fastest growing social media platform in the world right now? Then you might be interested in learning more about best practice guidelines for creating TikTok videos in 2020. There is no wonder why TikTok boasts an estimated 800 million global users!

Follow this simple how-to guide and you should notice an immediate improvement in your engagement.

File size, dimension, and aspect ratio all play a role in determining how successful TikTok videos will be. Click here to find out more.

For example, you will need to limit file sizes to 287.6 MB when using an iOS device and an estimated 72 MB when using a device operated by Android. If you are uploading a TikTok video ad, the size can be quite a lot larger usually up to 500 MB.

The best dimensions to work with are 10801920 and the aspect ratio should be the size of a traditional smartphone screen, although many individuals and businesses will use 9:16. Keep in mind, however, that the latter will not take up the entire screen.

You will have a wide variety of options when it comes to file type, especially if you will be recording your video off the TikTok platform and uploading it thereafter. Both .mp4 and .mov files are supported by the app. Additional files, including .avi and .gif are also supported in the case of ads.

Research has shown that TikTok users respond best to vertical video. This is because the videos are viewed on a smartphone. However, it is still possible to upload videos filmed in the horizontal orientation.

While there are many reasons to use the native TikTok recorder to create your videos, there are many other third-party apps that offer even more exciting effects and features that can help to take your creations to the next level entirely. Boosted is a good example. This third-party app is known for its variety of effects and templates which make TikTok video creation a cinch.

The shorter your video is, the better, especially if it will be used for advertising purposes. Most advertisers will aim for a video length of 9 to 15 seconds. Britains Got Talents biggest child stars from Connie Talbot to George Sampson where are they now? – The Sun

BRITAIN'S Got Talent has produced some of the most memorable performances on our screen.

Producing some of the biggest stars in the business, the ITV talent show has a knack for finding the most talented youngsters in the country.

8

As there's no age restriction for BGT, the beloved series has become a launchpad for those looking for success at a young age.

Here we take a look at the show's most iconic younger stars and check out what they're up to now...

8

Connie Talbot won over the nation's hearts when she appeared on the first series of Britains Got Talent back in 2007 - at the tender age of six.

She made it all the way to the final and sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow but missed out on the prize to Paul Potts.

A year after appearing on BGT, she released Connie Talbot's Christmas Album, which she recorded in her bedroom studio.

In 2012 she released her fourth album Beautiful World under Hong Kong based label Evosound - it reached number one in the Taiwan charts.

Two years later she opened a special concert to celebrate South Korea hosting the G20 summit.

Then in 2019, the 18-year-old took to the BGT: The Champions stage to sing an original song but despite getting rave comments from the judges, she didn't make it through to the finals.

George Sampson, 26, is a street dancer who found fame and success after winning Britain's Got Talent in 2008.

Since his appearance on BGT, George has branched out into acting and also released his own single Get Up On The Dance Floor/Headz Up in 2008 with Syco.

After performing in West End show Into The Hoods, he landed a role in Waterloo Road, as Kyle, in 2011, before joining Emmerdale in 2016 as Ryan.

He's also had minor roles in Mount Pleasant and Casualty, as well as presenting CBBC's Friday Download. Then in 2010 and 2012 he appeared in 3D movies Streetdance and Streetdance 2.

In April 2017, George had a 9,000 hair transplant procedure to get rid of a bald patch on his head, which was caused by all the spinning he does on his head during break-dancing routines.

George took his own mother to court in 2016 after she refused to leave the Warrington house he bought with his Britain's Got Talent winnings. In May 2017 he joined the cast of Madness musical Our House as Reecey.

8

Ronan Parke tugged at the heartstrings when he sang his heart out to Feeling Good aged 12 in 2011's instalment of BGT.

At the time, he narrowly missed out on winning the competition, ending up in second place.

The fresh-faced singer was still snapped up by Simon Cowells label, but like many talent show acts before him, he was sadly dropped after a year.

Since leaving the show he released his debut album called Ronan Parke and went onto do a number of performances around the UK.

He left his record labels the following year, and later that year released a new single, We Are Shooting Stars.

He has also collaborated with fellow Britains Got Talent contestant Luciel Johns, and released a further few singles in 2014.

Now in 2020, Ronan has a YouTube channel, which he updates regularly with music covers and vlogs to his 187,000 followers.

In 2009, Hollie Steel delivered an unforgettable performance on Britains Got Talent which saw her breaking down in floods of tears midway through her semi-final song.

Despite boasting plenty of vocal promise, it was the 10-year-olds onstage collapse on the show that will always stick in the mind.

Nerves got the better of her during her rendition of Edelweiss, causing her to flee the stage in pieces.

However, she bravely returned for a second attempt and the judges voted her through to the final, eventually finishing sixth in the competition.

Hollie capitalised on her BGT fame, Hollie and her family launched their own label, BB5 Records, and put out her debut self-titled album in 2010.

She followed that up with a Christmas album in 2011 and her second collection, Children On The Titanic, in 2012.

In 2011, she was also cast in the role of Louisa von Trapp in Andrew Lloyd Webber's UK tour of The Sound Of Music, performing in the show across the country from May to October.

Now today a 21-year-old Hollie continues to act and sing, uploading regular song covers to her channel.

8

Comedian Jack Carroll competed in the seventh series of Britain's Got Talent at the age of 14, finishing as the runner-up.

In 2010, at the age of 12, Jack caught the eye of comedian Jason Manford when he saw a video of him performing at his parents' wedding anniversary and asked him to perform at one of his shows.

Two years later, the teen won a Pride of Britain award in 2012 before he wowed judges with his comedy act a year later.

Jack, who has cerebral palsy, has continued to do stand-up since being on BGT and also is enjoying a successful career as an actor.

The funnyman has appeared in two series of the CBBC Channel show Ministry of Curious Stuff and also Sky One series Trollied.

He took his show Jack Carroll And Friends to the Edinburgh Fringe 2019.

Last year, he competed in Britain's Got Talent: The Champions but was eliminated.

8

Welsh native Shaheen Jafargholi left the BGT audience in awe after he delivered a powerful version of Michael Jackson's Who's Loving Yo during his audition in 2009.

The schoolboy was lauded with praise from around the world so much so that Shaheen was asked to perform at Michael Jackson's funeral when he was just 12.

Following his appearance on the show, Shaheen recorded an album, and turned his attention to acting with cameo in Torchwood and Grandpa in My Pocket.

In 2016, he joined the cast of EastEnders as Carmel Kazemi's (Bonnie Langford) son, Shakil, and in August 2018 it was announced he'd joined Casualty.

8

Aidan Davis starred in the third series of the ITV talent show back in 2009.

Back then, aged just 11 and sporting a bright blue hoodie, he impressed judges with his fancy footwork to Flo Ridas Low.

While blonde Amanda Holden said he blew her away,, head honcho Simon Cowell added: I think youre better than any dancer on this show, you are super, super, super talented.

Yet the dance star who claimed he never had professional training was caught up in a highly talented bunch and battled it out in a series which included singing sensation Susan Boyle and fellow dancers Diversity, who went on to take the title.

What’s Up with the Ascension? – ChristianityToday.com

Fellow church members occasionally ask: If all our sin was dealt with when Jesus died on the cross, why must we still confess it?

The answer is partly found in an oft overlooked aspect of Christian beliefJesus ascension. According to the New Testament, God raised Jesus from the dead, and then, 40 days later, took him up into heaven (Acts 1:911). Romans, Hebrews, and 1 John all describe the ascended Jesus actively working for his people in Gods heavenly presence. Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25 identify Jesus present activity as intercession. In 1 John 2:12, Jesus serves as an advocate before the Father.

But why do Gods people need an advocate? Is the Crucifixion not enough for our salvation? I would answer no. The single event of the Cross is not sufficientonly the person of Jesus is sufficient. If all we had were the Cross, then wed have no salvation. As important as Jesus death is, Christs saving work involves more. We need Jesus ongoing ministry of intercession for our salvation. Hebrews identifies Jesus ongoing intercession as key for Jesus to save completely those who come to God through him (Heb. 7:25). To reduce Jesus saving work merely to his dying ignores this important aspect of Jesus present ministry for his people.

Salvation isnt accomplished just because Jesus died but because he was also raised and ascended into heaven. There, continuously interceding for us, Jesus maintains the New Covenant better (permanently better) than the Old Testament sacrifices and priests maintained the old. Hebrews and 1 John describe Christs heavenly ministry using concepts drawn from Old Testament sacrifices and priestly ministry. Hebrews looks to the annual Day of Atonement (Lev. 16) to explain how the ascended Jesus ensures his peoples salvation. The earthly high priests entered Gods presence in the Holy of Holies once every year to offer the sacrifice of atonement by sprinkling blood.

But Jesus did something better. He ascended to Gods presence in the heavenly Holy of Holies once for all time. There, as an ever-living sacrifice, he offered himself before the Father the way the earthly high priests offered the sacrificial blood (Heb. 9:67, 2426). Hebrews says that Jesus took his seat at Gods right hand after he made purification for sins (Heb. 1:3). Jesus presently rules on the heavenly throne as Gods exalted Son. Hebrews also affirms that Jesus now serves as the Great High Priest who continues to work for the salvation of his siblings. He is seated, but he is not silent. Even now, the ascended Christ ministers as the Great High Priest in the heavenly Holy of Holies (Heb. 8:12), perpetually interceding for his people (Heb. 7:25). This is part of how he saves us completely.

Similarly, 1 John reflects on Jesus work in the light of Jewish sacrifices: Jesus himself is the atoning sacrifice now located in the Fathers presence (1 John 2:1-2). As in Hebrews, Jesus is not silent in Gods presence. He actively advocates for his people when they sin. This advocacy supplies the rationale for Johns admonition to believers to continually confess their sins (1 John 1:9). The reality of ongoing sin requires ongoing confession and forgiveness of sin. Jesus ascension makes this possible because Jesus, who is the atoning sacrifice, presently pleads with his Father for his people. Unlike Hebrews, 1 John does not identify Jesus as high priest, but Jesus ongoing advocacy clearly implies his priestly ministry.

In Romans 8:34, Paul also highlights the importance of Jesus ongoing intercession at Gods right hand as a central means for preserving relationship between God and Gods people. No one can condemn those who are in Christ. This truth depends not only on Jesus death, but, as Paul says, even more on his resurrection and present intercession at Gods right hand. Paul can therefore confidently declare that nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 8:39). Jesus love extends beyond the Crosshis death, resurrection, and ongoing intercession at Gods right hand are essential for his peoples salvation. Take out any one of those elements and, like the Jenga tower that falls to pieces when a key block is removed, Pauls confident claims in Romans 8:3539 collapse.

The preceding reflections do not do full justice to the significance of Jesus ascension. They only highlight some of the important implications of this event. They remind us that our ascended Lord is not sitting silently in his Fathers presence. He actively intercedes and advocates for us, ministering before the Father as our merciful and faithful high priest (Heb. 2:17). We need this ministry as we continue to wait for the Lord to return and make all things right (Heb. 9:28). Our salvation is completely contingent on Jesusthe one who died but even more rose, ascended, and presently intercedes for us.

Why do we continue to confess our sins and seek forgiveness even after professing faith in Christs salvific death?

All of this brings us back to our opening question. Why do we continue to confess our sins and seek forgiveness even after professing faith in his salvific death? We do this, boldly even, because Jesus ascended as our great advocate, our high priest (Heb. 4:1416). He has returned to his Father and ours to intercede on our behalf. This present work is an essential part of the ongoing relationship that he, the Father, the Holy Spirit, and we as Gods people share. Jesus ascension, we might say, is part of how he maintains the New Covenant relationship he inaugurated at his death. Atonement in the Old Testament wasnt accomplished simply by slaughtering animals; their bodies and blood had to be brought to the altars by priests with prayers offered. Similarly, Jesus ascension brought him, the crucified and resurrected one, into Gods heavenly presence to minister as his peoples high priest. He is the atoning sacrifice who died, rose, and now intercedes for his siblings. He ensures his people will receive the salvation God has promised them. We still sin and fall short, but we have an advocate in heaven. We can, therefore, confidently proclaim his death, until he comes (1 Cor. 11:26).

How the Ascension of Jesus can inform our daily life – Aleteia IT

In Christian spirituality, the Resurrection of Jesus is often linked to our ability to die to our sins and rise with Jesus in a new life of virtue. The sacrament of baptism is the most obvious example of how this symbolism is lived out, as the individual is immersed in water, dying to their sins, then rises from the font with a clean soul.

However, there is one more step that occurs after our resurrection in the spiritual life. We then need to ascend with Jesus in our daily choices.

Fr. William Graham, in the Pulpit Commentary on Catholic Teaching, explains how Jesus ascension correlates to our spiritual life.

[Jesus] was lifted up in His ascension and our hearts follow and are drawn to Him in the throne He occupies, at the right hand of His Father, in the heaven. He opened for us, and wherein He is always living to make intercession for us.

As the fruits of our thoughts on the twin mystery of the Resurrection and the Ascension we may glean a twofold lesson suggested in the words of St. Paul: If ye be risen with Christ, seek the things that are above (Coll. iii, I). We, too, must rise from the dead and ascend, or perish.

Graham goes on to describe how after rising from our sinful way of life, we need to then seek the things that are above, imitating Jesus ascension.

Let us take a lesson from the Ascension, and ever seek the things that are above. Mind the things that are above, not the things that are upon the earth (Coll. iii, 2). Christ rising again from the dead dieth now no more; death shall have no more dominion over him (Rom. vi., 9). The Ascension, as I said, is the completion of the Resurrection, so, too, the soul that rises from sin, that emerges from the unregenerate natural state to the supernatural, ascends, risesto a new sphere, a new plane of being. It is more than a mere elevation of thought, or feeling, it is a passing from death to life, and abiding therein. Grace, the principle of this inner change of life, is the seed of glory. A soul in grace, is really a soul that has ascended with Christ; hence the word heavenly-minded, so aptly applied to souls thus risen, and ascended with Christ.

He adds one more note on how this can impact our daily life.

[W]hile we make the great doctrines of the Resurrection and Ascension a light to the mind, let us not fail also to make them a guide to the heart. Let moral death, i. e., sin, never have dominion over us, let us ever in the way of life be risen with Christ, and in the realms of thought, of conversation, and of conduct, seek the things that are above.

Essentially what Graham is arguing is that Jesus ascension should point our entire being towards Heaven, and guide our every thought and deed. We should have Heaven as our goal and seek it, using whatever means is most fruitful.

Above all, it is a shift in mindset, no longer focusing on our own selfish desires, but looking towards Heaven and conducting ourselves as citizens of that blessed place. Once we do that, we will experience a profound change in our lives that will effect everything we say or do.
