Nurse who almost vaccinated Netanyahu says protocols were breached

The Sheba Medical Center nurse who was set to give Israels first shot of the coronavirus vaccine to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last night says that it was administered in contradiction to hospital protocols.

Shoshi Gomel, who was switched at the last minute by Netanyahus personal physician Tzvi Berkovitz, tells Channel 12 news that she was excited to be chosen help bring Israel into a new era without the coronavirus, but had the syringe taken from her hands after she had filled it with the vaccine.

Even though [Dr. Berkovitz] stood next to me and saw the dose, it is against the protocol of our hospital, Gomel says, explaining that the person who fills the syringe must administer the vaccine.

Maybe [Netanyahu] trusted him more; he has received other vaccines from him in the past, she muses. She also speculates that the Shin Bet security agency may have required that the prime ministers own doctor administer the vaccine.

Gomel stresses that she was not insulted to be replaced by Netanyahus personal physician. He took the pressure off me, she says.

In the event, the vaccination process proved quite protracted, with the vaccine vial requiring lengthy shaking. Berkovitz then moved to vaccinate Netanyahu in his left arm, whereas the prime minister had been sitting for long minutes with his right arm bared. Netanyahu, who is left-handed, redirected his physician and was indeed vaccinated in his right arm.

One small injection for a man, one giant leap for the health of us all, Netanyahu proclaimed, referencing US astronaut Neil Armstrongs resonant words when first setting foot on the moon in 1969.

UAE leading the world into the ‘sci-fi zone’ – Arabian Aerospace

The UAE is preparing for the fast-approaching urban air mobility sector with what it believes to be the worlds first set of regulations governing unmanned and autonomous air vehicles. Alan Dron reports.

Picture: AIRBUS

For almost a century, science fiction authors have written of future cityscapes where the skies are full of personal air vehicles, airborne taxis, and drones ferrying cargo on what transport specialists call the last mile of their destinations.

That future is very nearly here. Cargo drones are already starting to appear in locations as far apart as the US and Ghana, delivering everything from pizza to urgently needed medicines. Advances in propulsion and guidance technologies will make personal air vehicles a reality by the end of this decade, possibly well before.

This personal mobility industry is in its infancy. Ensuring that it develops in an orderly way will be the next big challenge for city councils or national governments, which face the prospect of the same traffic congestion or, potentially, accidents in the skies as on their roads if they do not impose some form of regulation.

With that in mind, the UAEs General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has issued a framework of rules to govern urban air mobility (UAM).

The aim is to create the conditions for the safe, secure and efficient operation of flights in close proximity to populated urban areas. This, says the GCAA, is the worlds first such set of regulations.

We have been observing rapid development in every aspect of the aviation industry, in particular an emergence of new players in the UAM ecosystem, said GCAA chairman and minister of economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.

UAM should introduce enormous opportunities for [a] smarter, faster, greener and safer integrated transport system for mega-cites, as well as creating an economic boost.

One aim of the new regulations is to expand the UAEs economy via the aviation sector, which already makes up a significant percentage of the countrys gross domestic product (GDP). The regulations are also intended to help create an integrated transport system.

With the later point in mind, the countrys Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has worked side-by-side with the GCAA in helping develop the legislative and operational framework.

The issuance of this regulation supports the efforts of the RTA in translating Dubais smart driving strategy for self-driving, which aims to convert 25% of the total mobility trips in Dubai to self-driving trips through various means of transportation by 2030, said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, the RTAs director-general and chairman.

A major concern for both transport professionals and the general public is how this new generation of unmanned air vehicles will fit in with existing manned aircraft and air traffic control.

GCAA has set a strategy to have a pragmatic approach in dealing with new emerging types of air transport activities, hence it will be a phased development for safe integration of those activities with the existing traditional operations, explained Aqeel Ahmed Al Zarouni, the GCAAs acting director - policy, regulation and planning.

These new air vehicles, whether piloted, remotely piloted or unmanned, will be introduced on defined, predetermined routes, segregated from existing manned aircraft.

Piloted air taxis and unmanned cargo-carriers will not share the same routes, at least in the early stages of the project. They will then be integrated with existing air traffic management systems. Eventually, as the new vehicles reach maturity, they will operate autonomously.

Sensor technology to allow drones and air taxis to integrate with air traffic control is advancing quickly in terms of reliability, accuracy, and miniaturisation, said Al Zarouni. The larger size of air taxis would make it relatively easier to fit these sensors on them, compared to the smaller drones.

So, how will unmanned vehicles be controlled, to ensure no collisions occur?

Well, UAM will start operating initially as piloted vehicles, hence the pilot will have the direct control and communications of the vehicle to avoid any collision, explained Al Zarouni.

Then, gradually, the operation will convert to remotely piloted, then to fully autonomous, until we make sure the vehicle designs and systems are mature enough to conduct fully autonomous flight.

In the case of drones, segregated airspace will be given to ensure safe operations with other traffic and it will be communicated to all airspace users, including manned flights, using notifications to airman (NOTAMs) that will be issued to alert other traffic in the vicinity of unmanned operation [and] to take all the precautionary measures needed to ensure flight safety is not compromised.

The new generation of unmanned air vehicles, together with the emergence of new UAM platforms, will need robust and adaptive control techniques, such as automation of their sense and avoid sensors that will allow the vehicles to function autonomously.

To achieve this, added Al Zarouni: The efficiency and reliability of the communication link with the ground station and other airspace users is crucial.

Global investments in this market segment of around $52 billion are expected by 2025.

This robust communication system will be vital, as 40,000 drones and 23,000 UAM vehicles are expected to be in the air by 2030. So we need to prepare those congested airspaces for mass operations, emphasised Al Zarouni.

The UAE, he added, aims to create manufacturing capabilities in this new sector, especially for UAVs, with the GCAA planning to create a new set of regulations for UAV manufacturers. Safety standards will be harmonised for both manufacturers and UAV operators.

And, in a sign of the UAEs growing influence in this sector, Al Zarouni noted that the Gulf nation is engaged with global aircraft manufacturers, leading authorities and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to set global standards.

The UAE anticipates some challenges when introducing these emerging UAM technologies. For example, social acceptance will be required before the public is comfortable with the thought of unmanned aircraft operating in the skies above them. This is likely to require social campaigns, the establishment of environmental noise levels, and the setting of altitude and proximity standards to reassure residents.

Aerospace giant posts surge in turnover | Insider Media – Insider Media

A Derby-based aerospace company, which rebranded earlier this year following its $1.9bn merger with a US counterpart, posted a surge in turnover for its latest financial period.

Newly filled accounts for Pattonair Holdings show the company's turnover totalled 340.5m for the 12 months to 31 December 2019.

Its turnover was 244.5m in the nine months to 31 December 2018.

Its pre-tax profits totalled 11m for its latest period, compared with 45.9m in the prior nine months.

During the year the company acquired Mercurius Holdings and its subsidiary, Adams Aviation, for 17.2m.

Pattonair's $1.9bn merger with Wesco Aircraft Holdings, which was first announced on Friday 9 August 2019, completed in January 2020.

Pattonair, which employs about 600 people in Derby and a similar number in its operations throughout the rest of the world, works with the likes of Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems.

The company rebranded to Incora in March 2020 while it was confirmed that almost 200 jobs were to be lost as a result of the merger in June.

A statement signed off by the board said: "We anticipate the Covid-19 pandemic to have a material impact on our operations, our cash flows from operations and out financial condition, in fiscal year 2020."

Mozilla teams up with Google, Microsoft and more to protect internet users – TechRadar

Mozilla has announced that it will work alongside Google, Microsoft and Apple to help protect the privacy of internet users in Kazakhstan.

The country's internet service providers (ISPs) recently informed their customers that they would have to install a government-issued root certificate on all of their devices in order to continue accessing internet services.

However, when a user installs the certificate, they are choosing to trust a Certificate Authority (CA) that enables the government to intercept and decrypt network communications sent from their web browser.

If this sound familiar that is because ISPs in Kazakhstan tried the exact same thing last year and at the time, the Firefox maker said the move directly contradicts Principle 4 of the Mozilla Manifesto which states: Individuals' security and privacy on the internet are fundamental and must not be treated as optional.

To protect the privacy of internet users in Kazakhstan, Mozilla, Apple, Google and Microsoft have all agreed to block the use of the government's root CA certificate in their respective browsers.

This means that the certificate will not be trusted by Firefox even if a user has it installed on their devices. When attempting to access a website that responds with the certificate, Firefox users will now see an error message stating that the certificate should not be trusted.

In a new blog post explaining its policy regarding the certificate, Mozilla urged users in Kazakhstan to look into VPN services or the Tor Browser to access the web without restrictions.

The company also encouraged users that have installed the government root certificate to remove it from their devices and to immediately change the passwords to their online accounts. This can easily be done by using Firefox's built-in password manager.

10 Most Dangerous Android Apps You Should Not Install on Your Phone – Beebom

With malware and bloatware becoming an increasing problem on Android, it is more important than ever to ensure that the apps youre downloading are not a threat to you or your device. Google removes many adware and spyware apps from the Play Store from time to time, but what about some of the most popular apps that arent outright malware per se, but can be major privacy nightmares nonetheless? Here, we tell you about the 10 most dangerous Android apps that you should stay away from if you value your privacy.

Google Play is a great place for discovering wonderful new apps, but its important to be cautious before downloading new apps because of potential security consequences. Even older and well-established apps can prove to be privacy nightmares if youre not careful. Some apps can collect the data from your phone and share your personal information with third-party advertisers for money. Which is why, weve come up with a list of the 10 most dangerous Android apps you should delete from your phone right now.

Developed by UCWeb, a subsidiary of Chinese tech giant, Alibaba, UC browser is one of the most downloaded web browsers on Android. However, cybersecurity analysts say that it does not adequately protect its data transmissions, which can leave your personal data at risk of being intercepted by hackers and intelligence agencies. According to researchers, the browser uses weak cryptography, and sometimes no encryption at all, when it transmits keystrokes over the web. This makes it a dangerous, unsecured app that should be deleted from your phone ASAP.

Alternatives: Mozilla Firefox (Free), Google Chrome (Free), DuckDuckGo Browser (Free). Privacy-conscious users should also check out Firefox Focus (Free) the open source privacy-focused browser that uses Private or incognito mode by default. Theres also the Tor Browser (Free) if youre an advanced user and know what youre doing.

The worlds most popular crowdsourced caller-ID software, Truecaller is one of the most notorious apps on both Android and iOS. It uploads your entire contact list, including names, phone numbers, email IDs, and even location info of some users, onto its servers. While it helps the app better identify the people calling you, it is a privacy nightmare for your contacts who didnt sign-up to have their info on third-party servers.

Its also bad for the users themselves as it uploads their IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) number, which is unique to each handset and can be used to positively ID anybody.

Alternative: Almost all popular caller ID apps will upload your contact list to their servers. So for most users, its best to stick to the stock phonebook app on their devices.

CLEANit claims to be a junk file cleaner that has millions of downloads on the Play Store. The app not only needs a ton of permissions, it also advertises services that are frivolous in modern Android devices with powerful hardware. In fact, some of them can even be detrimental to your phone.

For example, clearing the cache will only slow down your phone when it needs to be rebuilt, while killing background apps does not make any real-world impact on battery-life. Unless of course, these apps are playing music or scanning for files in the background, in which case, you dont want to kill them anyways.

Alternatives: Greenify (Free), CCleaner (Free)

Note: If you have a relatively new Android phone, you should skip these cleaner and optimizer apps entirely. They do not help improve your phones speed and often create complications by changing core settings, etc. That said, if you must use such apps, you should stick to the two mentioned above.

Dolphin browser is yet another wildly-popular third-party browser app that promises a lot but delivers very little. It is a flash-supporting browser that is a tracking nightmare and should be uninstalled immediately. According to multiple reports over the years, not only does Dolphin save your incognito mode browsing sessions, but also reveals your original IP address even while using a VPN. It also comes with a bunch of additional features, like video players and speed boosters that only add to the bloat.

Alternatives: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, DuckDuckGo Browser (see [1] above for download links)

An app with over 14 million installs, Virus Cleaner Antivirus Free and Phone Cleaner from Super Cleaner Studio is exactly whats wrong with the Android eco-system. It comes with a ton of ads, many of which are for services and brands of questionable repute. Whats more, it promises to be an efficient security master, phone junk cleaner, WIFI security, super speed booster, battery saver, CPU cooler and notification cleaner, none of which can actually be achieved to any perceivable degree by any software. Personally, Id skip any app that promises to be a CPU cooler.

Alternatives: Avast (Free), AVG (Free), Kaspersky (Free).

Note: Its best to skip the category entirely, as the best anti-virus tool on Android is Google Play Protect, which is enabled by default on all Android phones.

With over 100 million installs, SuperVPN is one of the most used VPN apps on Android. However, cybersecurity analysts earlier this year claimed that the app includes critical vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to carry out MitM (Man-in-the-Middle) attacks, potentially stealing personal info, including credit card details, photos and private chats. According to reports, criminals can also exploit the vulnerabilities to hijack a users connection to malicious websites that could further endanger user privacy and security.

Alternatives: Express VPN (Free), Nord VPN (Free), SurfShark (Free). You can also take a look at our detailed list of the best VPN apps on Android.

Funded by Kremlin, Russia Today (RT) is the official mouthpiece of the Russian government. The network offers news channels, blogs and multiple mobile apps in English, aimed at western audiences. In spite of its claims of being a quality journalistic endeavor, its often used as a propaganda outlet for the Vladimir Putin government and, has been cited by western security agencies, like the CIA and MI6, as a major source of disinformation on US politics and Brexit. Its a news app thats best avoided if you dont want to be bombarded with fake news.

Alternatives: CNN (Free), BBC (Free)

Yet another cleaner app that simply had to be on our list because of how popular it is. Super Clean by Magical Dev has registered more than 26 million installs on the Play Store, but like most other cleaner apps, it does precious little by way of actually speeding up your phone. As with other apps in its category, it promises to optimize battery usage, clean junk files and boost memory, none of which requires a third-party app. In any case, most Android vendors bundle a security/cleaner app with their phones, which should do the job more often than not.

Alternatives: Greenify and CCleaner (See [3] above for download links).

Note: As mentioned earlier, cleaner or speed booster apps do more to harm your phone than help it. To truly boost your phones speed, uninstall apps that you arent using and remove multimedia files to a fast, Class 10/U3/V90 card if your phone supports microSD. Else, transfer them over to your PC or USB drive to regain space on your phone.

The penultimate app on our list is Fildo, which was once an illegal music downloading app disguised as a local music player. The app has since discontinued the music downloading functionality after coming under the scanner, and has now reoriented as a music management app.

However, were skeptical about apps that promise something and do something else. It also reportedly has ties to a controversial Chinese entertainment company, Netease, which should be yet another red flag for users. Its best that you shift to a different app for your music playing needs.

Alternatives: VLC (Free), AIMP (Free), Poweramp (Free)

Last, but not least, theres S.M.T.H. It is actually a cool little game app, but is harmful to your phone in ways that you might not have expected. The app uses a smartphones built-in sensors to measure how high you can throw your phone. Yup, you need to throw your phone high in the air for the game to even work.

The app got a lot of attention when it was first released almost a decade ago. To be honest, the game can be good fun, but numerous devices have breathed their last because of this app for obvious reasons. You can install it at your own risk, but dont say we didnt warn you!

For the above list, we only picked apps that are currently available on the Play Store. However, there are hundreds more apps that have been banished from the Play Store for click fraud, illegal data mining, disruptive ads and more. Those include Clean Master, DU Battery Saver, ES File Explorer, Quick Pic Gallery and a whole host of other software, many of which are from the notorious Chinese developer, Cheetah Mobile.

Many of these are still available for download as APKs from various sites and third-party Android app stores. So if youre unsure about the background of a particular app or its developer, its best to avoid downloading it on your device.

Its sometimes difficult to tell good apps from malicious ones. However, the one tell-tale sign that should always raise concern is the number of unnecessary permissions an app asks for. Does a flashlight app need your location permission? Does a cleaning app require camera and/or microphone access?

Is a photo-editing app asking for phone or SMS permissions? If they are, its best to steer clear of such software. While asking for additional permissions isnt a definitive indication of a dangerous app, you should always do your research before installing them on your phone.

As a rule of thumb, its best to steer clear of cleaners, anti-viruses, RAM boosters etc., because they hardly offer any real-world performance improvements in most cases. Other apps one should be careful about are weather apps and scanner apps that can potentially collect sensitive location information and personally identifiable data from your phones.

And yes, many emoji apps and photo filter/editor apps are nothing more than glorified adware, if not worse. All said and done, its best to avoid apps that ask for a ton of permissions for things that are unrelated to their advertised functionality.

In spite of persistent efforts from Google, you can find thousands of risky apps on the Play Store, including malware, adware, spyware and bloatware. However, the aforementioned ones are among the most widely-used dangerous apps on Android, which is why they have made their way to our list. So if you have any of the above most dangerous Android apps on your phone, do uninstall it now and download an alternative instead.

Robert Traynor (54) with an address in Crumlin, Dublin city pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of 1,938 images and 183 videos of child pornography on February 2nd, 2018. He also admitted production of 1,650 computer-generated images on September 22, 2014, contrary to the 1998 child trafficking pornography act.

Detective Garda Thomas Burke told Elva Duffy BL, prosecuting, that as part of an ongoing garda operation into online child exploitation, a computer address was linked to the possession of child pornography images and videos in an online peer to peer network.

Traynor's home was linked to this computer through his internet provider Eir and gardai went to the house in February 2018. Under caution Traynor told gardai that he had downloaded erotic material but said he believed the images and videos were of adults posing as children.

The court heard Traynor had searched for the images using the Tor browser, which allows users to hide their location.

An external disk drive seized by gardai was found to contain 65 video files and hundreds of images, the court heard. These images showed girls aged between six and 12 posing for the camera where they were sexually exposed.

Over 2,000 computer generated images found in an encrypted folder depicted young girls using sex toys or lying next to naked males.

Traynor told garda after his arrest that the images were skirting the boundaries but were not child pornography, saying he believed they were actors posing as children.

Dt Gda Burke told Judge Pauline Codd that this was clearly not the case and that they are quite obviously children. He said some of the cartoon images depicted the girls much smaller in size and height than the males, saying it's clear they are young children.

Micheal Hourigan BL, defending, told the court that his client had a good employment history and had previously worked in IT for a bank.

He said as a result of a health condition in his youth he became sexually isolated and his sexual development stifled. He has engaged with therapy since the offending came to light and has displayed progress in developing insight into the reasons behind his offending, counsel said.

Noting the absence of any previous offending Judge Codd ordered a probation report and adjourned sentence to March 12th next year.

Dundee man downloaded child abuse images and videos while serving as a police officer – The Courier

A former police officer who downloaded child abuse videos while still serving was jailed for a year yesterday.

Derek Kennedy, from Dundee, was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years after being caught with thousands of sickening images.

Detectives discovered nearly 5,000 images and more than 18 hours of graphic video footage when they carried out a raid on their ex-colleagues home.

Kennedy, who was serving with Police Scotland when he started downloading illicit material in 2016, initially claimed he had done so by accident.

Analysis of his devices showed he had filed them in specific folders and installed special equipment to try to hide the material.

He told officers something in the back of my mind made me keep them when they found a number of the depraved pictures on his mobile phone.

At first he denied having a sexual interest in the material but was later found to have stored and backed up a large haul of images and videos over three years.

Kennedy, 34, admitted downloading the material at his home in Butters Road, Dundee, between August 10 2016 and July 16 last year.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court: He has no previous convictions and is currently unemployed.

On August 29 2019 the police carried out a search at the accuseds home and seized a mobile telephone. Indecent images of children were recovered during preliminary analysis.

He was arrested and taken to police HQ in Dundee. He admitted he had downloaded indecent images of children, but had not done it intentionally and couldnt understand why he kept them.

He said something in the back of my mind made me keep them.

She said two laptops and the phone were seized and Kennedy was found to have moved the collection into various folders on the devices.

There was evidence he had copied some from one laptop to another and had also copied some on the phone into a specific folder.

Peer-to-peer file sharing software had been used to search and download indecent images of children. He had privacy tools on one laptop and was using the Tor browser to enable anonymity.

Ms Robertson told the court Kennedy was caught with 4,707 indecent images and 1,118 videos featuring children from infant age up to 15.

The images featured both males and females but mainly females. The videos had 18 hours, six minutes and 40 seconds total run time.

The bulk of the material was defined as Category A the most serious.

Solicitor Theo Finlay, defending, said: He has had a history of mental health difficulties.

‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ Cavern of Trials Guide: How to Get the Treasures of Britain – Tech Times

A demonstration of the ocean-based 'Assassin's Creed 3' game is shown to the audience at the Sony press conference on the eve of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on June 4, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. ( (Photo by David McNew/Getty Images) )

One of the tasks that players will need to face in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is going to The Cavern of Trials. It is where on of the Treasures of Britain can be found.

The journey to the cavern involves a series of keys that you will have to get in order to finish the task. There is no way out until you get the keys.

This can get frustrating, but good thing there are tricks that you can follow to help you complete the task and move forward in the game. Here's how:

According to IGN, before you go to The Cavern of Trials, you need to travel to the Coast of Cent. It can be found at the bottom right-hand corner of the map. As soon as you discover the region, head to the outcropping on the coast and there you will find yourself in the vicinity of where you need to be.

The cavern is located inside an abandoned house. Once you find the abandoned house, you will need to climb down the ladder that is located in the floor. There will be some vases by the wall that you will need to break to slide beneath the wall.

After you slide down a ledge, you won't be able to escape anymore unless you solve the puzzle or if you use your Fast Travel option, according to GamersRadar.

There are several keys that you need to collect in order to complete the round. It is a good idea to talk to Valka after completing the Asgard storyline because there are plants that you need for Valka's next potion in the cavern, according to HalfGlassGaming.

There are four keys all in all that you will need to get to make it out of the cavern. Keep in mind that you will have to grab the keys while airborne, so the faster you are, the better. The four keys are the following: Key of Courage, Key of Balance, Key of Agility and Key of Dexterity.

Jump to the ground and go to your left after finding the Key of Dexterity. There will be two locked doors for you to open and you will find a chest in the middle of the room. Open the chest to get the Nickel Ingot that you can use to upgrade your weapons.

To get the Treasures of Britain, you will need to unlock the door on the far side of the room. It will then lead to a series of stairs that Eivor will climb.

You might think that you can collect your prize. but the trials will continue as you now must move some rocks. Climb the first moveable rock that you come across and hop over the stalagmites to the other side.

Next, push the rock all the way forward and then to the right. Climb on top of it and jump over the stalagmites onto the next rock. There is one last rock that needs to be pushed all the way to the end and then you can use this one to put yourself closer to getting the Treasures of Britain.

The Treasures of Britain can be found on top of the rock in the center of the room. A key is also hanging just above it and you can use it to unlock the door and Eivor can then leave the cavern.

Thailand to upskill vocational students in robotics – FutureIoT

Thailand will equip vocational students with skills to work alongside and maintain factory robots to cater anticipated demand for 200,000 robotics-trained workers by 2024, the Bangkok Post reported.

The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) will oversee the scheme, which is part of the revamped Thailand vocation education system project launched in October.

The scheme comes at a crucial time when factories are moving from China to Thailand, and the urgent need to fill the gap for robotics-trained workers grows as many of these factories automate with robotics.

Monthon Paksuwan, OVEC deputy secretary-general said during the recently concluded 5 New S-curve webinar that education policymakers have already forged partnerships with private firms to offer upskilling courses in robotics

He added that the scheme will begin with mechatronics and robotic courses of the Human Capital Excellent Center (HCEC), which are taught to a total of 5,200 students annually at 161 private and state schools across the country.

The HCEC is also launching special courses to retrain teachers and help them keep up with changing robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Robotics thrive despite COVID-19 pandemic

In the last 11 months between January to November, the automation and robotics industry players in Thailand have invested a total of 651-million baht up from 29-million baht last year.

Previously, Thailand used 3,000-4,000 units of industrial robotics, but this has risen to 10,000-20,000 units to replace the human workforce, particularly migrant workers," Djitt Laowattana, executive adviser of the Eastern Economic Corridor Human Development Center (EEC HDC), told the Bangkok Post.

In the EEC, demand for robotic-skilled workforce has jumped from around 30,000 to 50,000 after the pandemic.

Furthermore, by early 2021, the EEC area will be ready for the 5G network that would move the country towards Industry 4.0, Laowattana said. Smart manufacturing will take shape with the integration of automation, Internet of Things (IoT), big data and cloud in the production process.

5 handy robots made in Russia – Russia Beyond

If life in Russia seems far removed from drones, smart assistants and robotic vacuum cleaners, we have news for you: Russian robotics and robots are alive and kicking. They disinfect buildings, deliver parcels, put out fires, work the land and serve the public. We list the 5 most out-of-this-world (yet firmly in it).

Robotics firm Promobot, based in the Ural city of Perm, has created several robots of particular relevance in these pandemic-hit times: remote temperature measurement stations, a robot disinfector and a consultant robot for medical institutions, which can measure temperature and other vital signs.

Promobot Thermocontrol is an autonomous terminal for non-contact temperature measurement in high-footfall areas. The measurement takes no more than 5 seconds and is accurate to within 0.2C.

Meanwhile, the Scorpion disinfector robot looks like a small tank. It is controlled remotely, using ultrasonic sensors and the GPS/GLONASS navigation systems to overcome obstacles, such as stairs and curbs. The robot is equipped with a cistern containing a disinfectant liquid and a spray device.

Russian company Copter Express Technologies (COEX) develops unpiloted aerial vehicles, including for delivery of small cargo instead of human couriers. For example, the COEX Pelican mini-quadcopter is capable of delivering a parcel weighing up to 2 kg; its top speed is 75 km/h with a delivery range of 5 km. Not bad.

Agrobot is not just a robot, but an entire autopilot system for agricultural machinery, which automates many farming tasks, making the process faster and more focused, eliminating the human factor.

Aurora Robotics' creation is able to cultivate lands in remote areas and harsh climates, can operate at night and in smoke or fog, and is not afraid of cold weather or precipitation.

Such systems herald the era of precision farming: to robot eyes, fields are not uniform different zones need different amounts of fertilization.

The ROIN RTP-M heavy hydraulic robot, built by Intehros, is designed to extinguish oil and gas gushers and blowouts. Any accident at a well can easily turn into an environmental disaster and pose a huge risk to emergency response teams.

The RTP-M keeps humans well away from the danger zone, and can extinguish a blaze at a distance of 1.5 km. The Russian company has near-term plans to unveil its already patented invention on the Middle East market.

Kiki is a next-generation interactive mobile service robot, able to hold a conversation with a person (using a self-learning neural network) and mimic human gestures. The robot has 17 degrees of freedom (in robotics, this means movable joints) and boasts a wide range of facial expressions and gestures; it can rotate its neck and body, and sensitive zones on the body react to touch.

Kikis main task is to attract attention. Plus, it can place orders, take payments and converse with human clients.

How Robots Are Helping The Environment – Emagazine.com – E/The Environmental Magazine

Robots dont always get a good rep. Theyre depicted in sci-fi movies taking over the world or (more immediately) taking peoples jobs. The truth is, we owe a lot to robots and the people who create them. They do a world of goodquite literallyso its about time they get their due. Lets dive into how were using robotics to help the environment and save the planet.

Stated by Ecorobotics, bots can be used to clean up oil spills and fight biofouling. Some of them can even ingest microbes and turn them into energy. A robot can function for months using this method, and generates more energy than it consumes. In non-oil-related cleanup efforts, robots can be used to collect plastic wastea dire need for our polluted oceans. Robots are slowly helping us reverse this danger.

Humans constantly produce waste that needs to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. Automating waste treatment and recycling procedures can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions that come from these procedures. They can help sort recycled materials more quickly than humans, too, so the products can be put to use sooner.

Robots can also collect sludge and waste materials from industrial tanksa much safer and efficient alternative to a human employee scrubbing toxic material. They can remove waste and transport it to an appropriate place so it doesnt seep into our water supply or soil.

Planting trees helps stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. Engineers are focusing on robotics that plant fully grown treesrather than seedlingsbecause they have a better chance of survival. Forests are incredibly important. Not only do they clean the air, but they also create a thriving habitat for animals; theyre critical to a healthy food chain and ecosystem. Deforestation can easily upset the balance, and robots are helping us prevent this.

Robots are helping to prevent soil erosion as well. Normally, sheet piles are driven into the ground with a pile driver. The process is loud, dangerous for surrounding structures, and requires lots of toxic pollutants to complete the job. With new, eco-friendly vibrational mechanisms, sheet piles can be driven into the ground using minimal gas and energy.

Special bots also help with soil sustainability. They are able to detect chemical levels in the soil so that humans can assess and take proper measures to protect it. Identifying the problem is the first step to a solution, after all.

When we combine the efforts of people and robots in just the right way, we can save the environment. Our world is our only homewe can show it some love by using man-made solutions to clean up our man-made messes, protecting it for the future.
