Innovative Womens HealthCare serves clients in several counties – Grand Island Independent

HASTINGS Innovative Womens HealthCare is the newest clinic in Hastings, focusing on womens (and sometimes mens) health care to help people live the best life.

Owned and operated by Elizabeth and Jim Hardy, the clinic is located at 223 E 14th St, Suite 50.

Elizabeth Hardy earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1989 and a Master of Science degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in womens health in 1998. Both degrees are from University of Nebraska Medical Center.

She has additional training with the International Society for the Study of Womens Sexual Health, is certified in bio-identical hormone pellet therapy, and is a certified sexual assault nurse examiner.

While Hardy has had many years of experience in hospitals, professional education, public heath and administration, she said her main passion has always been the care of women in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive health clinics.

She is a member of Nebraska Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners in Womens Health.

Im excited to work with adults at Innovative Womens HealthCare, Hardy said.

The Hardys have five children and she says she enjoys family time, boating and Tri-City Storm hockey.

Hardy said Innovative Womens HealthCare provides wellness and preventive care including annual exams, education, testing, and identification of treatment options.

Services offered include menopause symptom support, hormone therapy and care for women with bladder leakage and/or symptoms associated with sexual activity. Additional services are available for men including hormone level evaluation and testing for sexually transmitted infections.

Hardy said coming to a clinic can be uncomfortable for many people.

Its hard to disclose to clinic staff your specific needs and to ask for services that might feel personal or delicate, she said.

Hardy said Innovative Womens Health is unique as its environment is designed to be inviting and to minimize discomforts.

Our staff will put you at ease and offer professional health care, Hardy said. Ultimately, individuals can expect expert guidance in achieving optimum health with traditional and unique therapies.

She said the vision of Innovative Womens HealthCare is to provide a variety of health-oriented therapies addressing mind-body-spirit needs of the individuals we serve.

Our goal is to provide individualized quality health care to women and men regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, family structure, sexual orientation or income while maintaining confidentiality and dignity of those served, Hardy said.

The clinics mission, she said, is to support women in every stage of life and level of wellness. Using patient goals, internal and external resources, and individualized health strategies harmonious with individual values, adults will be assisted in reaching maximum wellness.

Our services include womens wellness evaluation, preventive measures, symptom management, and treatment of selected conditions, she said.

Annual exams. Wellness physical exams include assessment and screening tests for early identification of health problems that can be treated and prevented.

Testing. Tests include vaginal pap exams, mammograms, blood chemistry, metabolic tests, bone density, exams related to weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, incontinence, problems of a sexual nature, and tests for sexually transmitted infections.

Education. Based on individual needs, education is designed to empower adults to actively participate in their health care. The clinic provides verbal, written, blogs, and websites for nutrition, physical activity, healthy lifestyle and weight loss.

Identification of treatment options. When a problem or diagnosis is identified, the clinic will discuss options available for treatment, including pros and cons and possible referrals so patients can make the most informed decision to move forward with a plan.

Menopause and perimenopause. The years leading up to the end of reproductive cycles often include symptoms that are undesirable and uncomfortable. The clinic offers options available that can help prevent, minimize or eliminate these symptoms.

Hormone therapy. Hormones direct how body systems function. For many people, hormones are not at optimal levels which leads to low energy, sleep issues, over eating, mood changes, weight changes, low bone density, hair loss, and low sex drive. Hormones are evaluated and options are explored in order to reach optimal levels for reproductive and thyroid hormones.

Sexual issues. There are many reasons adults experience low libido or pain with sexual experiences. It may be a new symptom or a long-term issue. The clinic can identify treatable causes and discuss options to improve or eliminate symptoms.

Incontinence. Many women experience urgency or leaking of urine with coughing, sneezing or laughing. Clinic staff can help identify what is causing incontinence and offer solutions to help.

The clinic also offers bio-identical hormone replacement therapy; Votiva skin treatment with microneedling radio frequency technology for wrinkles, scarring, stretch marks and sweating; Votiva FormaV radio frequency technology for female intimacy problems and incontinence; and Arterosil.

Hardy said people should visit her clinic because it provides personalized setting different from all-to-common rushed, stressful hubbub of many health care settings.

We also offer new alternatives from the traditional treatments often not requiring prescription or surgery, she said.

They accept many insurance companies, Every Woman Matters and cash pay. Some services are cash only.

We take the preventative approach to healing problems by identifying risks and symptoms in peoples lives to plan a course of action to decrease complications, often using natural solutions to avoid medication, Hardy said. Prescription are provided only when needed. Our philosophy is to support and promote total health prevention of diseases.

She said male and female hormone testing with blood work drawn in the clinic is very popular.

We offer many options like pellet insertion to optimize hormone levels and extend treatment intervals to improve quality of life and overall health, Hardy said. The clinic setup is designed to be cozy and comfortable with chandeliers in every room. People relax and are able to share difficult stories.

The clinic sees patients from a wide area including Custer, Valley, Nuckolls, Furnas and York counties.

When it comes to their future plans, Hardy said their desire is to maintain a personal, intimate setting, yet to expand to offer services in other communities.

We have had the most outstanding patients since our opening a year ago and want to thank them for their confidence, Hardy said. We have a portal on our website (www.womenshealthnebraska.com) for sharing, messaging and making appointments.

The clinics phone number is (402) 834-3973 and it has a Facebook page.

A ‘very healthy’ 19-year-old succumbs to COVID-19 30 minutes after being taken to the hospital – Gentside

Luca Di Nicola, from central Italy, had his whole life ahead of him. Working as an assistant chef in London and maintaining a relatively healthy lifestyle, he was the last person you'd think would become a victim of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The coronavirus continues to spread on a global scale, and despite original thoughts, it seems to be able to lay claim to any victim in its path. Originating from Wuhan, in the Hubei province of central China, the virus has since spread throughout the globe.

Last week, a 16-year-old French girl was claimed by the virus after displaying only 'mild' symptoms. In addition, the UK saw the virus claim their youngest victim so far, a 13-year-old boy, following the death of a 12-year-old girl from Belgium who is thought to be the youngest victim in Europe.

According to his family, Luca had been unwell for about a week prior to his death. He visited his GP who gave him some paracetamol and told him he "did not have to worry about that bad flu". However, it was reported that yesterday (Tuesday), the young man had collapsed after experiencing some 'chest pains'.

According to one of the family members of the young man, they called the ambulance and we're able to revive him however his lungs had collapsed and were filled with water and blood.

His aunt told the local news:

Davide Di Nicola paid tribute to his late brother via an Instagram post in which he stated:

Our thoughts are with Luca's family as well as all the families who have been tragically touched by this deadly and unforgiving virus.

Currently, according to worldometers.info the UK has 25,150 confirmed cases of coronavirus with just under 1,800 deaths. We hope that the public respect and follow the guidelines set in place by the government regarding the lockdown, social distancing and quarantine practices. We all need to do our part to ensure that control over the spread of this fast-acting virus can be attained.

How to live longer: The diet proven to help you stave off cancer and boost life expectancy – Express

The age-old secret to a longer life really comes down to a healthy lifestyle including regular exercise, limiting alcohol intake, not smoking and eating a healthy balanced diet. Good nutrition is key to leading a healthy lifestyle. The foods a person eats gives the body information and materials they need to function properly. If a person eats too much food, or food that gives the body the wrong instructions, their risk of potentially life-threatening diseases increases and lifespan shortens. What is the best diet to help a person live a long, healthy life and reduce their risk of deadly diseases?

A study has been published in the JAMA Internal Medicine Journal and reignites debate around increasingly popular vegan diets amid conflicting medical advice and evidence over the impact of ones health.

The study found every three percent in calories form plant protein was found to reduce risk of death by 10 percent.

The figure rises to 12 percent for risk of dying from heart disease. By contrast, raising the share of animal protein in ones diet by 10 percent led to a two percent higher risk of death from all causes.

DONT MISS

Experts recommend eating more plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Lean protein and low-fat dairy products are also recommended.

Numerous research suggests eating at least seven portions of fresh fruits and vegetables per day may lower the risk of dying from cancer by up to 15 percent.

Dr Mingyang Song said: Overall, studies have supported the importance of the sources of dietary protein for long-term health outcomes.

Picture of Health: Susannah "Zana" Carbajal – YourObserver.com

Most people who work out lug around dumbbells to lift or heavy backpacks to wear while running, but East Countys Susannah Zana Carbajal has a simpler solution: her kids.

Multiple times a week, Carbajal can be found at Greenbrook Adventure Park racing one of her four children up a hill or using one of her toddlers as a weight while she squats.

Carbajal has been a part of the Bayside Community Church F5 workout group for about a year and a half, after figuring out how to plan workouts into her life. After all, working as a technology sales manager and raising an 8-year-old, a 4-year-old and twin 18-month-olds can be time-consuming.

After I had my two boys, I kind of got into a rhythm where I wasnt taking care of myself, and I think I just lost myself a little bit, Carbajal said. When I found out I was pregnant with twins, it was a wake-up call for me. I needed to get my life together.

However, after deciding to focus on satisfying her health needs: mind, body, spirit and health and enlisting the help of her Panda Planner, a scientifically designed agenda based in positive psychology Carbajal said she cant get enough of working out.

She brings her children to the workout group and modifies the workouts, so she can still keep an eye on her kids.

When they kids were younger, Carbajal said theyd often sleep in the stroller throughout her workout, but now they want to play.

Frequently, she does squats in the sandbox or pushups with a kid sitting on her back.

Susannah "Zana" Carbajal does squats while using her daughter Rosalind as a weight.

Her solution for when her children misbehave: Laugh it off or challenge them to a race.

My old mindset, when I had a fixed mindset, would have been: Well, they dont let me go. I cant. Its too hard, Carbajal said. Now I just dont make any excuses. Theres going to be obstacles, but your babies need to see that you persevere.

Although she is keeping herself healthy, Carbajal is also teaching her children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Its cool because they mimic some of the moves, even the little ones, Carbajal said. We do pushups and situps and race up the hill, so its helping them learn the importance of health and taking care of their bodies.

But for Carbajal, the workout group gives her more than a chance to satiate her need for bodily health. It offers her a community that she said gives her good social, mental and spiritual health, too.

At the end of each session, group members go around the circle and share positive things that have happened throughout the week or things that have been bothering them. Then group members pray for one another throughout the week.

Life happens; it isnt always rosy, Carbajal said. Theyre all praying for you, and you feel that. They help you through your problems; they reach out and make sure that youre OK. Its truly a community where we take care of one another.

Gur naal pollution hata: Heres how to cook with jaggery for a healthy lifestyle – Hindustan Times

With the deteriorating quality of air, especially in the Capital, everyone is looking for ways to protect themselves from the hazardous effects of air pollution. One of the natural ways, as validated by many health experts, is jaggery (gur or gud).

Jaggery is a concentrated product of cane juice or palm, and can vary from golden brown to dark brown in colour.

Many experts say that palm jaggery is healthier than cane jaggery because it contains ascorbic acid and certain vitamins among other micro and macro nutrients, unlike cane jaggery.

A rich source of glucose, i.e, instant energy, consuming jaggery is good also because it is rich in iron, which, after its consumption, increases the levels of haemoglobin in the body. So, we asked chefs to share some out-of-the-box yet easy to make dishes, where the main ingredient is jaggery.

Nutritional value of Gud per 100 gm

*Jaggery Cheesecake

Ingredients

350 gm plain digestive biscuits, 120 gm ghee or unsalted butter, melted and cooled, 600 gm cream cheese, 350 gm jaggery, 1 cup (250g) sour cream, 200ml thickened cream, 4 eggs (lightly beaten), 1/3 cup (50g) cornflour, 2 tsp lemon juice, 50 gm blueberry compote

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease a round 20cm springform cake pan and line the base and side with baking paper.

Place biscuits in a food processor and whiz to crumbs. Add ghee and whiz to combine. Press into the base of prepared pan and chill until needed.

Place cream cheese and 250 gm jaggery in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and beat until smooth. Beat in sour cream and cream. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in cornflour and lemon juice, and pour over base. Wrap the outside of the pan in 3 layers of foil and place in a large roasting pan. Add enough boiling water to come halfway up the sides of the cake.

Reduce oven to 150C and bake cake for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until just set with a gentle wobble in the centre. Turn off oven and cool for one hour in the oven. Remove from oven, cool to room temperature, then chill for 3 hours or until cold. Remove from pan and place on a serving plate.

When ready to serve, melt remaining 100 gm jaggery in a small saucepan over medium heat with 2 tbs water, stirring to dissolve the jaggery. Cool completely, then pour over the cake, garnish with blueberry compote and fresh mint leaves.

* Gud Wali Atta Sevaiyan

Ingredients

200 gm of whole wheat sevaiyan (small), 1 cups of jaggery, 1.5 litres water, 125 gm ghee, 5-6 sliced almonds, 5-6 sliced pistachios, tsp nutmeg powder, a large pinch of saffron, and 1 tsp ground cardamom

Method

Add all the ghee to the vermicelli and cook on medium heat until the vermicelli starts to get golden brown.

Add the jaggery to water and allow it to melt while boiling the water.

Carefully pour the hot jaggery water to the cooked vermicelli. The vermicelli will start to bubble and cook so be careful that you dont get splattered. Add the ground nutmeg, cardamom and saffron to the mixture.

Keep stirring until the mixture becomes fairly solid and doesnt stick to the saucepan.

Garnish with almonds, pistachios.

* Gud ice cream and gud crme brulee

Ingredients

200 gm jaggery, 20 ml condensed milk, a bit of cinnamon powder, 6 egg yolks, 100 ml heavy cream, 30 gm castor sugar and a few drops of vanilla essence

Method

For gur ice-cream

Make a syrup of jaggery by dissolving 150 gm jaggery with water and cooking it. Once it assumes a syrupy consistency, add condensed milk and cinnamon powder. Blend well and freeze.

For crme brulee

Mix egg yolks with remaining jaggery, sugar and cream.

Add vanilla essence and fill the mixture in a lined container, and steam it in a steamer.

Torch the crme brulee with some bit of jaggery powder on top and top it with ice cream and serve.

Antioxidants and healthy living: the role of 100% fruit juice – Guardian

Previously, consumption of food was traditionally viewed as a necessity for good growth, strength, and energy. While these factors are still very relevant, food is now also considered on the basis of its physiological, psychological and medical effects on the human body.

Does it reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases? Could it lead to or prevent cancer? How does my diet affect the probability of developing obesity or diabetes? These are common questions associated with food. These and other similar questions are becoming more important in view of growing concerns for health and wellness. Recent rising costs of health care have also generated a growth in health and diet conversations in recent times.

Eating food is an object of pleasure for some people, a health remedy for others, and a matter of life and death for some unfortunate few. Food is a source of the key nutrients the body needs for growth, development and maintenance of body tissue carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oil, vitamins, minerals, and water. The way food is consumed has huge consequences for the body. Food must be eaten adequately, timely, in the right quantities, in proper combinations, and in line with the recommended dietary allowances, for the body to derive maximum benefit and obtain good health.

Closely related to good food is the topic of antioxidants and its benefits or impact on health. Growing interest in this topic has emerged in recent times, drawing extensive research from a wide range of experts.

Antioxidants and their benefits to the human bodyResearch shows that fruits (which include 100% or pure fruit juices) and vegetables are the primary sources of antioxidants in our diet. Antioxidants are essential for preventing premature ageing, vision loss, mood disorders, and heart diseases.

According to betterhealth.vic.gov.au, antioxidants are found in certain foods and may prevent some of the damage free radicals cause in the human body by neutralizing them. Oxidative stress occurs when there are more free radicals than antioxidants in the body. Free radicals are oxygen-containing molecules, which have an irregular distribution of electrons. Oxidative stress has been linked to heart disease, cancer, arthritis, stroke, respiratory diseases, immune deficiency, emphysema, Parkinsons disease, and other inflammatory conditions. Antioxidants lessen or prevent the effects of free radicals by donating electrons to the free radicals, thereby reducing their reactivity.

Evidence has shown that certain nutrients present in the diet play an important role in fighting against nutritional oxidative stress. (Prasad, S., Gupta, S. C., & Tyagi, A. K. (2017). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cancer: Role of antioxidative nutraceuticals. Cancer Letters 387; 95-105). Examples of antioxidants include vitamins C and E, selenium and carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, flavonoids, flavones, catechins, polyphenols, and phytoestrogens; which are found in fruits and vegetables.

Antioxidants in fruit juiceMany fruit juices are high in antioxidants, packed with vitamins and minerals, and beneficial in diverse ways. These fruits include peaches, raspberries, strawberries, red currants, figs, cherries, pears, guava, oranges, apricots, mangoes, red grapes, watermelon, and papaya. 100% fruit juice contains bioactive compounds with antioxidant properties. As such, fruit juices have the potential to improve the antioxidant status in the body.

A systematic review of nutritional literature published between 1995 and 2013 was conducted using PubMed database to evaluate associations between intake of 100% fruit juice, markers of antioxidant/oxidant status, and blood lipid levels in healthy adults. Data extraction and analysis was conducted according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence Analysis Process. The results from ten clinical trials meeting inclusion/exclusion criteria suggest potential improvements in a variety of antioxidants after consumption of 100% fruit juice.

As humans we all desire a healthy life, and as such, we rely heavily on the nutrients, vitamins and minerals derived from our daily food consumption to stay healthy. Regardless of your motive for food consumption, be it for pleasure or remedy, one of the best measures to building and sustaining a healthy lifestyle is to regularly complement mealtimes with antioxidant-rich food and beverages such as vegetables and 100% fruit juice.*Olusola Malomo is a registered Dietitian (Association of Dietitians in Nigeria ADN). (ThyBlackMan.com) Getting healthy is a common New Years resolution, but there is nothing special about January 1st for starting new habits. You can make plans to start living a healthier lifestyle today with small changes that make a big difference in the long-run.

There are two keys to exercise you will stick with, which is to find something you enjoy, and go slow. Even better, find two or three things you enjoy. If you only do the same exercise over and over again, you may see shrinking benefits as your body becomes accustomed to the movement. Variety helps ensure that more muscle groups get a complete workout. Its also important to remember that exercise doesnt just mean going to a gym. Gardening counts as exercise, and so does dancing in a club. A daily walk remains one of the best forms of exercise you can get.

Many people try to do too much too fast and exhaust or injure themselves. Remember, your new routine is something you will do for years to come. You dont have to get fit in just six weeks.

As with exercise, this is best done slowly rather than trying for a complete overhaul. In fact, one of the best ways to improve your eating habits is to start by adding rather than taking away. Incorporate more fruit and vegetables into your diet and you may find yourself eating better with very little effort. Make another small healthy change every week or two. Examples might be cutting out that sugary afternoon snack, changing your soda for water at meals or aiming for a smaller portion size at dinner.

A healthy lifestyle includes good mental health. Self-care and talking to friends for support are all good ways of coping with stress, but a professional can offer additional tools as well as a diagnosis and treatment plan if necessary. When it comes to therapy, you can ask friends, family members and medical professionals for recommendations. You can also research finding an Oakland therapist online. You may want to meet with several therapists before choosing one to work with, and you might need to try more than one before you find the right fit. This is not uncommon, and you shouldnt let it discourage you or make you think therapy cannot help you.

There are a host of other changes you can make to help you lead a healthier lifestyle. One of the main ones is ensuring that you are getting enough sleep. If you are struggling with insomnia, you may want to speak to your doctor. There could be underlying issues that are easily treated, such as sleep apnea, that could be affecting your ability to get a good nights sleep.

In fact, a general checkup that includes bloodwork to make sure your thyroid levels and other vitals are normal is not a bad idea. This could help you identify any health issues before they become serious. Some, such as high blood pressure, might be treated with lifestyle changes if they are caught early.

More healthy food options and support for diabetes patients – The Straits Times

Measures to prevent diabetes, such as providing Singaporeans with healthier food options, and help patients manage their condition before it worsens have been ramped up since 2016 when the war on diabetes was launched.

From 2016 to last year, the proportion of Healthier Choice Symbol products in the market, across 100 food categories, increased by 7.4 percentage points, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said yesterday in an update on its efforts.

As of last year, one in two stalls in hawker centres and coffee shops had at least one healthier option on its menu, as part of the Healthier Dining Programme.

People with diabetes are also getting greater support to help them manage their condition.

For instance, a beta set of reference materials for newly diagnosed patients - to help them make changes to their lifestyles - is available on HealthHub, an e-services portal and mobile app where Singaporeans can access their health records and other resources. A full set of materials will be available by the year end.

Programmes to address common complications associated with diabetes, such as eye problems, kidney failure and limb amputations, have also been rolled out.

As of last year, one in two stalls in hawker centres and coffee shops had at least one healthier option on its menu, as part of the Healthier Dining Programme.

They include the Singapore Integrated Diabetic Retinopathy Programme, which started in 2012.

It is a centralised screening programme covering all polyclinics to detect eye complications in patients with diabetes. The annual number of eye screenings performed as part of this programme has increased from about 14,000 in 2012 to 92,000 last year.

Senior Minister of State for Health Edwin Tong shared a summary report of the efforts made in the war on diabetes. Speaking at an event yesterday to commemorate World Diabetes Day, he said diabetes is a serious health concern globally and in Singapore.

One in three Singaporeans is at risk of developing diabetes in his or her lifetime, he added.

He touched on three broad issues in tackling the disease - empowering patients, equipping healthcare professionals and the community well, and helping people maintain healthy lifestyle choices.

In the area of patient empowerment, Mr Tong cited a pilot programme by the National University Health System (NUHS) to motivate individuals to take control of their condition and make their own lifestyle changes. But on top of that, healthcare professionals and volunteers "need access to more training and resources to improve their delivery of care", he said.

To strengthen community support, he noted that there are initiatives to better equip volunteers, such as through the Health Peers Programme by Changi General Hospital and NUHS, where layperson volunteers called Health Peers are trained by professionals to deal with people with diabetes.

The third area in the fight against diabetes is to create an environment that helps people to initiate and sustain positive lifestyle changes, such as ramping up healthier choice options, Mr Tong said.

"One's health is ultimately a personal responsibility and it requires the individual to initiate and sustain positive behaviours," he added.

According to the latest available National Population Health Survey, 8.6 per cent of Singapore residents had diabetes in 2017. MOH has said the latest statistics are not ready to be published.

The event yesterday was organised by Diabetes Singapore and NUHS to raise public awareness of diabetes. There were public health screenings as well as a symposium for general practitioners.

It exposes them to all sorts of new exercises, cooking techniques and products all in one place. People can mosey around in this huge space, learn and walk out feeling smarter and healthier.

Was there a story that inspired you to get involved with WYWF?

They asked and I came. I just immediately felt like it was such a beautiful message and a beautiful opportunity for me to help provide people with a skillset to live healthier and happier.

Can you tell me about a wellness challenge youve had and overcome?

My biggest ongoing wellness challenge is that Im full speed ahead. Im go, go, go, go. I joke that, I feel like when the alarm goes off in the morning, Im shot out of a cannon! I run from one activity to the next to the next.

I have so many deadlines that Im always juggling, whether its television segments or articles or meetings. Im always working on a lot of projects so my biggest conundrum is zenning out and staying balanced. Incorporating meditation, stretching and yoga has been a game-changer for me. And Im not gonna lie. Its still work. I have to schedule it in to make sure that I get it done, but it makes me feel so good. And even if the remainder of the day Im go, go, go. Its so helpful and I look forward to it. It literally could be like five minutes. I always do five minutes of meditation during the day.

I also like think about what Im grateful for, what I want to accomplish, what kind acts I can do. All of those things make me feel good. And I think it helps to calm the nuttiness that I normally have going on in my life. Dont get me wrong, I love the nuttiness. Thats how Im wired. But I think because Im wired so frantic and like go, go, go, you know, super, super driven, its key for me to press the pause button and sort of decompress.

Whats your current wellness mantra or life quote?

Life is hard. Food should be easy and delicious.

I think that people automatically feel that eating healthy means compromise. And you know, Ive tried to, my entire career, show people that no, you can prepare wholesome, healthy food in the most divine, delicious ways. So many flavor combos and textures. Theres a lot of deliciousness out there. So life is hard. Food should be easy. And Im hoping to make it easy for everyone.

Whats one wellness product/routine you cant live without right now?

Im going to have to say my Apple watch. It almost feels like this is a commercial. I promise this was not planned. You just asked me this question and I happened to look at my Apple watch so let me tell you why I love it. My days can be a little haphazard but I always try to work out most days of the week, so when I cant, I want to feel confident that I hit my 10,000 steps. My Apple Watch helps me keep track.

What projects are you currently working on?

The project that I am most excited about isYummy Yoga. I love this book so much. Ive always had this mission to help kids get excited and passionate about good health, eating well and trying new exercises. This is definitely my baby right now and Im working on a television show for NBC too that Im very excited about.

And new recipes, always! If you have any recipe requests, DM me, send them over to my Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Im on it. I love taking indulgent decadent dishes that are typically unhealthy and lightening them up and inject superfoods. I love holiday foods. Anything goes, anything. So just you send me your request and I will be busy in my kitchen working on it for you!

Thank you for joining us, Joy! Your energy and mission is such an inspiration.

Olivia Culpo Tells Herself This One Thing to Stay PositiveEven During a Breakup – Yahoo Lifestyle

This video is part of Health's My Mantra series. Follow along with new videos on our Instagram page and share your own words of wisdom using #MantraMonday.

No matter how good things may be going its easy to get caught up in the little annoyances of life. Even former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo knows this to be true, which is why she relies on a mantra to stay grounded: Anytime something is wrong you can think, okay, I trust that this is happening for my highest good, she explains to Health.

With a positive attitude, Culpo feels like she can turn a terrible or difficult situation into something to learn from. If you have that attitude with every hardship in life, youll always evolve and youll basically become a better version of yourself, she says.

We caught up with Culpo at the grand opening for P.volve Studio in New York City at the very early time of 7 a.m., and she joked that she was currently using this mantra to look on the bright side of sleeping through her alarm that morning. I got extra sleep, she smiled.

But in all seriousness, Culpo says this phrase has been particularly helpful when it comes to relationshipsprofessional and personal. When things go badly in a relationship and it really hurts you personally, it does make you stronger, she says. I know thats kind of a clich, but it does make you learn so much more about yourself. It helps you realize what you do and dont want and that might be really difficult, but ultimately, you grow.

Culpos other necessities for living a healthy lifestyle are drinking a lot of water, getting enough sleep, and sticking to a workout she loves. Because I travel so much, sometimes I dont sleep much, and I always notice a difference mentally and physically, she explains.

As for her favorite workout, Culpo is an ambassador for P.volve, a method that focuses on low-impact moves to strengthen your muscles. Its so great at helping people achieve strengthening, lengthening, toning, she says. Culpo and her two sisters all enjoy being able to stream the workout from home.
